- MandRproductions proudly presents his review of one of the rarest LEGO Star Wars sets ever released! 2003's LEGO Star Wars Cloud City playset is beloved by many LEGO Star Wars fans, myself included. Originally it was $100 in stores however if you want a used one today you'll likely be paying $600-$800 and brand new will often run you well over $1,000!
10123 Cloud City includes 698 pieces and 7 Minifigures, a Stormtrooper, Darth Vader, Cloud City Boba Fett, Cloud City Luke Skywalker, Cloud City Princess Leia, Han Solo, and Lando Calrissian! Youll also find the LEGO Han Solo in Carbonite brick! The set highlights 4 sections of Cloud City! the dining room, carbonite chamber room, duel room, and landing pad are all present!
In 2003 you could combine this set with the 7190 Millennium Falcon, 7119 Bespin Cloud Car, and 7144 Slave 1 to complete the Cloud City scene! Enjoy the review!

Unpopular opinion: I honestly love the older, far more basic minifigure designs- it’s just so charming.

nothing beats a classic star wars minifigure. especially those chrome lightsabers. they should bring those back!
@@UnanimousBionicleGuy unfortunately, the chrome legos wont come back. Some people complained that the chrome lightsabers would chip. Or the chrome lightsabers would be too expensive to produce
I'd hope that's not unpopular cause I love them too. They were better for making MOCs because the limitations forced you to be creative and at the same time you didn't feel like you had to be a perfectionist.

People are dissing the new cloud city set and loving this one, but honestly, if this set with these builds came out today, people would hate it.
Nostalgia is a big part of the enjoyment of this set, so the playability features on this set would never come out today

Yeah personally, I prefer the new one, because this one is kinda of a mish-mash of scenes, but then again, I wasn’t born when this came out, so I have no connection to it 🤷♂️
@@ArthurCowboy06 I was born plus the old used sells for $800 sealed around $2000 I’m glad I picked mine up for “cheap” $400 and as the years go by that price is just gonna keep on building up

This was an online Lego store exclusive and sold out almost immediately. I remember 200 dollar price tag, and the fury on the old forums over the set. You couldn't buy this set in retail stores and that pissed a lot of people off. For years it was the only way to get Luke Leia and Lando in their Bespin uniforms. The Boba Fett mini figure was also the only one (at the time) to have that intricate screen printed detail. While the set itself has aged very poorly (why was the carbonite chamber at the end and not the middle?) it is still a highly coveted collectible because of just how limited it was, and the mini figures themselves which Lego said were never going to be re-released leading to more anger from the fandom. It would be almost 20 years when we would get a more superior (if not still flawed) redo.
This is my opinion but I loved when lego released small Star Wars sets. They were cheap and you could get the main characters. For example lightsaber duel from 1999, you got the main Sith and Jedi! Just lovely!
Amazing set! Also i love the Boba Fett figure. For some reason, i really like these old Star Wars sets, their design, playabiliy and minifigures! I think the sand color scheme, their simplicity, nostalgia and retrofuturism give both the sets and the minifigures a really nice aesthetic! I wish i had more of them...
So this is the most awesome set review I’ve seen in years. Please take us through some more classic sets in 4K quality. It’s something no one does and this was so awesome to behold. New format is cool too. White backgrounds are so 2015. Anyway keep up the amazing work.

Cool review. I like how you showed the different angles of the set. That play feature in the carbon freeze chamber was pretty cool. maybe in a moc scene it could be used again somehow.

This made me realise how much resellers and Lego collecting becoming alot more mainstream has driven up the prices. There are so many sets I regret passing on around the time this video was made.

For the time, this set was mind blowing and everyone wanted it.
Im so glad you uploaded this my dad is an avid lego star wars collector and just got this set with 10198 for 300 pounds but it didnt have instructions so i had to build it off lego's pdf instructions and damn its so hard to know the difference between the trans orange grille bits and the trans red ones

It's funny, as cool as these older sets are, they didn't have all the pieces we have today so the sets look like I built them a long time ago, and yet the action features, like the door, and specifically the freezing chamber are better than modern doors and noticeably better than the modern freezing chamber

Just think about this: If someone invested 100k in this set in 2003 (buying 1000 sets) and he sold them all in 2020 he would make 900k back just let that sink in.
Let’s say your parents instead of buying a house for 200k they bought 1000 cloud city sets and lived in apartment for 17 years and then sold all of these in 2020 they would make 900k back which is enough to buy a house and have 700k left over which is enough money to retire with.

Man I am hoping for a full on comparison video, like try to compare every single thing possible, the “I am your father” scene part, the dining room area, landing platform, all three carbon freezing chambers, list every room that the new one has that the old one didn’t, cloud car comparison, every Boba Fett slave one comparison etc

I love the new one, but this one is also great too. I’m glad they’re releasing it, and it looks great now! Would have loved a big UCS cloud city, though, but still. I think having the new one, and a UCS slave 1 closer to you could be a cool perspective

Finally a decent review of this set.
I was 11 or 12 when this badboy came out and boy how I loved it! I was able to get Han Solo, Luke Skywalker, Lando Calrissian and Princess Leia, even Darth Vader and a stormtrooper. Han wore a black jacket in the original film The Empire Strikes Back and I swapped the beige arms for black ones to make him better resemble the likeness.
Lego Star Wars sets have come a long way in the almost twenty years of existence.
the platform was made for the original 2000 slave 1 for fett.
i love how in the movie where han gets frozen or watever and its dramatic, but when u did it in the video lego han is just smiling
I prefer this to the new one, I like how it is all on one side so you can display it. I might just have to pick one up I found one for $250

$528 in 2018?? Boba Fett alone was worth about $350 back in 2017-2018. You got this for an absolute steal then. I think this entire set was worth about $700-$800 during that time.
