- Kenworth K100 Cabover- Will it ever start? Detroit 8V-71 Restoration EPISODE 6 2-4-24
Grab your hot truckers blend coffee and sit back and enjoy finding out if this "GrassHopper" KW is ever gonna run. Also a trip to Juniors Parts & Trucks in Cleveland Ohio, Mail call, Parts install & and a Truckers Lounge visit from a couple great friends!
This Episode brought to you by "PARKERS GARAGE" celebrating their 60th year Anniversary of 3rd Generation business in engine repair, Industrial, Coach, Truck, & Marine.
"Drivin My GMC" intro music by DANE SCOTT Music N.A.S. Productions copywrite 2022 - Авто та транспорт
Going to repeat what my dad said to me in 1983 the first time I asked as a 11 year old why he loved his k100. Son this truck has a 318 Detroit in it I will eventually get home from every trip.
And he was a very smart man 👍😊
Your Correct Dane Detroit's don't need Luberfiners as it cools the engine oil and when temperature drops for some reason all sorts of problems arise.
Good to see grasshopper going again and coming together good job mate 👍👍🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
Thanks Greg 😬👍
Hey Dane...absolutely loved this "episode", especially the "wrap-up", hanging out in the Lounge with your friend talkin' about those "good ol' days" driving those Internationals. Would really like to see more footage of wandering around Junior's..how cool is that place!!! 😊👍👍
Thanks bud, I had a hard time collecting goodies and being able to video it it too. It’s definitely a blast to see it all.
Progress is being made. The Detroit sounds good.
Great episode glad to see grasshopper 🦗 jumping a little more each time I think it's going to be a truck 😊😊😊
Thanks Gerald, I’m excited 😬👍
Moving steadily in the right direction with this one. Shed loads of work to do yet.
Yes sir, we’ll gitrdone 😬👍
Getting that motor going was great.
Trust me! 😬👍
Those manuals are cool! At one time GM published heavy hard cover illustrated books that detailed servicing of every nut and bolt in every car they made. Nice to hear from a steel hauler. Iron ore and steel pumped like blood from the heart in that part of the country.
It's a bout time. This has been a 3 month headache. Glad to finally see and hear it run.😊and I have no doubt that dead mouse did not smell to well.
Lol it sure didn’t 🤮Longest three months ever. Lol.
Dane, glad to see Grasshopper running it is coming along nicely.
Thank you Dave 😊
Glad to see Grasshopper come to life. Good work.
People need to restore the old classic truck so future generations what real trucken was like back in the day without all the modern amenities we have now also great vid
Totally agree my friend 😬👍
Awesome progress on The Grasshopper!!
I had two 318's one in a 1972 ford cabover, one in a 1973 GMC Astro
BOTH killer trucks 😮👍👍👍
Well I suppose judging trucks in the rough is a talent. You have repeatedly show that you can do this. I would say "Grasshopper" is another good example. A lot of sweat has gone into her there in NC and OHIO. Looking good Buddy. Let's Ride!!!!
Yes sir you’re not kidding…(as you know firsthand buddy) lol. As I always say… it takes a team to gitrdone with these ole boys 😬👍
The best trucking entertainment available. Thanks Dane.
Thank YOU for watching Terry.
Nice score on the lights, the air filter housing and the miscellaneous fittings! One thing I would check would be that the new filter element is rated for the higher CFM requirements that a 2-cycle needs to breathe.
Yellow sealed-beams would be sweet in those housings….. more importantly, glad to hear that 8v71 roar to life once more!
All good points buddy, I like the yellow lights idea too. 🤔
Another great video Dane like the story about the international eagle they were awesome trucks cant wait to see grasshopper when he is done he is a true classic keep the videos coming 👍 have a great day friends from Minnesota
You bet Shelly thanks for watching as always appreciate it! :)
ITS ALIVE!! Dane, you and I have the exact same taste in trucks. I was lucky to grow up in the 70s and had a family friend with a GMC and Peterbilt dealerships. The engine paint looks great.
Oh man you the best kinda buddy..lol :)
Gteat progress again Dane , always a treat to see what's in the background on a trip to JR's , that "" Jimmy "" sounded Awesome, Dafe Travels 👍👍👍👍
Thanks David, be safe out there brother. 😬👍
Great video with trucking royalty
Let the peasants eat cake 😂😂😂
That's like a Super 10. The Kenworth I drove for a few years was a T600 with a little bunk, Detroit and a Super 10.
Awesome upgrade for Grass Hopper. It is Alive. Way to go. I am glad that salvage yard is still around. So many are disappearing . They pack them in tight I guess to keep from reselling whole
Yes, they are...it's a "dying Breed" so to speak.
Nice to see that bumper has the fill in plate on the inside of the c channel. Some don't fill that area in and on a bad day when someone hits you shreds the front tire...I bought a set of qaulity tapered reamers for drilling holes...If your doing a frame they are a must...Great job getting the k100 running
You know Ed, I always forget to use those … duh! Lol.
Glad to know they make them heavy duty enough for frames. Be safe UP there in the great white north. 😬👍
O-H-I-O Porter greetings 🇺🇸 Did you save any parts for us? Hehehe! I’ve not been there yet, but I sure hope to make it there before too long. Looks like he’s got quite a few things I might want to look over. Those valves are handy to have for these old trucks! So she finally came to life! That’s so radically cool! It will be nice to have the new cutoff for it! That bumper looks so much better with some road lights in it! We have a new video coming out this Friday as well. Love those care packages…Oh, YEAH! Blessings my friend! 🥰🤩✌️
Oh we saved plenty there for ya lol. Send me a link when your video posts please. 😬👍
That was sweet! Nice work gents!
Thanks Chris 😬👍
Great video great find on the parts to she is going to look great when she is done thanks for sharing 😎😬
And thanks for watching Jeff
Loved seeing grasshopper come alive sounded really good 👍
Wow! Grasshopper has done it and he really didnt struggle too much at all either! That is a huge step accomplished. Those tandems really got put through the ringer! Great junkyard finds as well! Cant wait to see Grasshopper rolling again under his own power!
You and me both buddy. :)
HOLY MOLLY GRASSHOPPER LIVE ABSOLUTELY EXCELLENT WELL DONE GUYS. I TALKED TO JOHN TOLD ME HE TALKED TO YOU HE WAS TICKLE PINK
Yes he be!!! lol. Enjoyed talking to John as well. Be safe out there my brutha.
I love the Caddy! Keep up with the trucking info too!
Oh man thank you for watching. I’m looking forward to more content soon.
Too bad about the broken KW torsion bar suspension, but the Peterbilt Airleaf is very popular and parts are and will be available for many years to come.
Grasshopper is a runner!
The fact that the Peterbilt Airleaf suspension system is so plentiful;is exactly why Steve Fezchiak is going with the Peterbilt Airleaf suspension & drive axles for his Ford CL9000 cabover chappel truck & trailer restoration project, because now that the Ford/Sterling commercial truck division is no longer in existance and in business, repacement parts would be hard & next to impossible to find.
keep on trucking, like to see your videos 👍
Thanks for watching 😊
Hey Mr Scott... love all your work that you do on . All your episodes of T.L .. I am going to attend your Truck show GMC Jamboree keep up the great work. Much respect from Canada
Fern

Love seeing all the old truck's in the junkyards.
Yes Dane I love your content 🎉 it's sweet!!!
Awesome, thanks for watching 😊
Enjoyed great work dane
There's a lot to do to Grasshopper, but it will be awesome when you're finished and it's ready to hit the road.
Yepp, but I love the challenge. :)
Cool package.
Thanks for sharing buddy.😊
Man gotta give it to you great job so far so good 😎👍🇺🇸
Thanks Elmer 😊
Hey driver! It's alive It's alive!!...its another great video as always, 10-4 driver im gone
Oh ya! Okeydoke… 3s onYaWeGone 😬👍
Great finds too!!
Awesome 😊
Hello Dane ,
Another great video. Congratulations on getting grasshopper running. 😊
I remember trying to explain how to shift the crackerbox to another driver about 30 years ago, he couldn't understand what I was saying. Never new you could have a 2 speed drive axle.
Thanks Bert 😬👍
It’s a little frustrating until you get the hang of it.
@@DaneScottsTRUCKERSLOUNGE
Yes, it was a little different than 2 shifters, or the one shifter shift 5 gears go to high side and shift 5 more gears. That was very easy. Still, I enjoyed it the 2 speed drive axle Have a wonderful week sir.
Excellent video!!
Thanks Dan for watching 😬👍
Dane great video sounds great nice parts grab
Thanks Dom, I didn’t see your ole girl there this time 😩
My name is David Forbes I love your big rigs especially grasshopper
Thanks David, I’m kinda partial to them myself lol. 😬
It's alive...Ride on..Love seeing the old trucks fire up for the first time in forever...
It’s invigorating for sure!
You will get it going buddy good luck
Great video Mr Scotts grasshopper come to life good to see him to say a couple of words 😀 nice to see old truck manufacturers books with all the details and cool to hear old truckers stories with your friends 👍 have a great week buddy 10-4🚛
Thanks Melvin glad you enjoyed it. As always I appreciate your watching.😊👍
@@DaneScottsTRUCKERSLOUNGE your welcome buddy no problem anytime 👍
Fire in the hole 🔥 glad it’s running. It’s cool to hear drivers stories and one of the best things about your channel is the approximate 30 minute videos 👍
I know I love hearing the stories, it’s just such a throwback to a different time in America.
Cool old trucks. Lots of my memories there. Jealous of your hobby.
Hat tipped to ya Driva 😬👍
The outside of the filter always looks good it’s the inside it shows the dust . She looking good mate the old girl ( grasshopper )
Thanks, I just figured if it looks that good outside it can’t be too bad at all inside 😬👍
@@DaneScottsTRUCKERSLOUNGE my father drove a 1967 Cabover , you made it in the day if you’re driving one of them
Awesome stash adds!!
Some chrome or stainless acorn nuts would give i nice finished look on the bottom of the bumper for the Perlux lights ,
I like how you think groovypop 😊👍
Grasshopper is a runner!!
I know this well you can take something that most would run away from and make it really cool 😎. You gotta have vision and that cant be taught 10 4 driver.😊
I still feel like a learning kid and it’s so exciting to learn and experience these once great pieces of machinery! Thanks Bob
👍👍👍
Thanks for watching 😬
Where were you in Okinawa? I was 9th Marine Amphibious Brigade, '83-'84.. Good times
Certainly were! Lots of marines there I was Air Force and friends with navy guys. All the cool stuff you could buy for Pennie’s on the dollar. BUT my most vivid and happy memory is watching that island get smaller and smaller in the planes window. 18 months was lonnnnnnng enough lol 😬
She's Alive the K100 is Alive.
It’s crazy ain’t it??? 😬
The Kenworth K100 C.O.E has beautiful Detroit diesel in it Dane going be nice with chrome goodies under hood & was wondering did get the pictures of Ho scale box trucks sent a couple week's
Yes sir I hope it is. I can’t recall but if you email me I most always respond so maybe try again. It’s hard to keep up lol. 😬
Congrats on getting Grasshopper started?
Happy new Dane. Have you seen the GMC Cracker box with the 12V92?. A great project this K100 would be.
Not sure is it that custom sleeper turquoise one Bruce Wilson found?
Sure is Dude. It's awesome@@DaneScottsTRUCKERSLOUNGE
I forget to mention Dane on one of your other episodes remember the walk around yard with antique truck that you were surprised had a steel cab when most of those'C window cabs were wooden. Remember the R700 Mack what a project @@DaneScottsTRUCKERSLOUNGE
Congrats on the progress on the KW. Will you have to re ratio the cut off or did you get lucky and find one with a 4-11 or 4=33? Theres a guy down here that I used to truck with that has two complete matching sets of 1000-22 Good Year Hi Miler Lug type bias ply drive tires with virgin tread and I have been trying to talk him into selling me 8 of them to give to you for Grasshopper but hes the most stubborn person I know and wont sell them. Ill keep trying, Bill
Oh man THAT would be absolutely awesome! I appreciate the effort AND for watching Bill. 😊👍
Id be funny to shorten one of those cabovers to the point where the axel sits almost right behind the cab
Wouldn’t wanna go that extreme but you’re right it’d be a hoot. Short bus comes to mind. 😂😂😂😂

Why u need lights in the bumper when theres lights in the hood?
Hey dave, the new air cleaner gets dirty on the inside , just so you no brother
Thanks...I figured if it looks brand new outside then it can't be very old.
Kenworth may not smile upon you for exposing their overpricing
Oh well...shoulder shugs :)
Is that a gear reduction starter I hear???
You sure do….. you have a keen ear my friend. 😮👍
Cool camera moves too much set it and forgot it
Thanks 😊👍
nice! Dane is that a amt k123 model kit I see 👀👀👀
Yes sir, and I sure wish I could get back to building it lol. 😬
