- What I found most interesting about the Scarlet Badis breeding behavior was that while they have a couple of favorite spots, they were breeding all over the tank, even out in the open. It was amazing and exciting to see!

People say it's so hard to tell the sex of these fish, but in this video it's very clear! I'm preparing a 10g for some badis of my own

They are one of my favorites also. I adore them! This set up is a 20 gallon with a TON of hiding spots and it has 2 females and 2 males.

Do you believe the size of the tank is necessary to breed these guys? I have a single female and purchased a much smaller tank for the purposes of breeding.
If you have just one male and female I do not feel that tank size matters as long as the water parameters stay stable. Smaller tanks can be a little more difficult to keep stable. If you have more than one male, then I do believe that size matters. At that point I would use a 20 long.
I'm curious on what you feed your Scarlets ?
I got mine a day ago! Named him Squishy! He's adorable! Can they go with shrimps..(which I dont need to breed) just for show.. I mean obviously the babies ain't going to survive because of their Hunting modes..
I'm considering getting some to help with my seed shrimp over breeding, do you sell them?

Hi there fellow fishkeepers!
I hope one of you guys can help me out. I recently bought 3 dario dario, 1 male, 2 females. At first, both females showed a lightly striped pattern like the one shown on this video. After a week, one of the females developed a darker pattern (I give my fish own bred live food, all my fish tend to have deeper/higher colours as usual). Clear black stripes are now shown and a darker dot at her tail. I wonder whether or not this is normal or that it might be another species (like badis badis).
