I've always enjoyed tower defense games since flash game days, so I've been looking for good roguelite ones for a while. There are definitely a lot more of them then there were before (which was almost none), but I don't think they're especially hot right now compared to like bullet heavens or something.

If you'd like 5 more recommendations totally worth checking out: 1 Facehand (super auto pets but with cards - has a free demo - full release coming soon) 2 Die in the Dungeon (turn-based dice deckbuilder - has a free demo - full release coming soon) 3 Lucky Hero (turn-based slot machine deckbuilder - has a free demo - released nov 2023 for €11) 4 Circadian Dice (turn-based dice deckbuilder - has a free demo - released july 2022 for €5) 5 Frostrain (''Frostpunk x Snowpierce x SlayTheSpire'' - SynthZ - released jan 2024 for free as a ''full demo release'', probably not gonna receive major updates soon, see dev note) These five are all totally worth checking out and all have free demos! All five are great, even though some are yet to release fully.
There are way too many auto battlers/ tower defense. I feel like Steam is going down the same degenerate Era Kongregate was. Back then Idle games took over and everyone left Kongregate. It's kind of sad actually, especially if you're a game dev making something that's not an auto battler or tower defense.
If you include bullet heavens or survivors likes as autobattlers then I agree. It feels like half of the new roguelites I see now are that, and I'm not interested in them. It makes searching for hidden gems more work for me. I do think there is still space for high quality autobattlers and TD games though, especially roguelites. I don't think we've had a Hades or Slay the Spire equivalent for those subgenres. I'm hoping Emberward might get close for roguelite tower defense, but we'll see.
@@InsertReviews You should check out Acolyte of the Altar. Because steam is promoting Autobattlers and TD so much, good games like that one don't get much visibility.

Did you gravitate towards tower defense roguelikes or does that seem like what's hot right now?

Thanks for the list! I actually have Circadian Dice in my steam library, but haven't booted it up lol. The rest of these are new to me though.
You should try nimrods too since it is pretty similar to some games you made reviews on in the past I think
Runeroots TD looks nice ---- Bloons td6 is very much the same every game tho.

Haven't heard of that one, but that looks pretty unique from the trailer. I'll add it to my list!
