I did enjoy my time with this one. It’s criminally underrated but it also gets a bit old after a while because of how many action roguelikes I’ve played. It doesn’t do quite enough differently with its gameplay systems, in my opinion. The actual gameplay itself is very smooth and satisfying though.
We have been blessed by a second video within a week. Good video, as always :) It does seem like Ember Knights, with a difficulty option and story telling inspired by Hades. Definitely something I would play. Thanks for the video.
Insert, have you played Summum Aeterna? It's a side scrolling hand drawn RL. Meta-progression is some of the best I have ever seen. Gorgeous hand drawn biomes. I'd love to hear your thoughts. I got it last week and I'm already 25 hrs in, it turning out to be one of my favorites of all time. Much better than Dead Cells I dare say! And I have 100 hrs in DC
i started to find roguelites more boring because newer games doesn't seem to get out of the box of their succesors. i always relate a new game i buy to one i played which makes it really repetitive at times. hoping for better ones in the future!
A bit of a curse with any genre if you play it a lot is you can see the patterns and make constant comparisons to the other games. If you haven't already, Balatro and Against the Storm are two recent roguelites that are well done and have more unique gameplay. No true roguelite successors to compare them to without making a bit of a stretch.
I think its solid, yet a little boring. The runs dont vary much, you choose one of six weapons and go. You wont be able to do individual builds, you mainly just choose if you concentrate on your weapon attack or your extra attack. The game is pretty fast, you will dodge around like crazy. It doesnt have the depth of ember knights or Hades and so not their long life. Alos the town building aspect, aka metaprogression is pretty basic, and mostly just a ressource dump. But if you can get it with a decent discount its fine for around 15-20 hours

Completely agree with this
