To address Zesty's question: Play time sometimes matters when giving an opinion, but if it's a Sweet Baby Inc game, I think it's safe to say you can easily tell that game will be a disaster without even giving them a single penny.
CSGO had high standards, that one reminds me of R6 Siege (b/c visor). R6 siege skins implementation is one of the greatest disasters of all time, you can't trade them, but they increased the download size of the game by something like 20x the base game, including all of the skins the devs put in the game just to only award to people playing tournaments.
@@shouygui4955 your point is completely irrelevant , trying to combine 2 very differently and thoroughly stylized games like tf2 and cs go will always result in slop. The item might look good in cs go but never in tf2,a good-looking item doesn't make a fitting one
43:00 For that taunt, perhaps have him trace the circle on his forehead with his left hand before planting his finger on the center. He then pulls his head to left, having it slide against his finger and leaving it pointing to where his head used to be. To me it helps keeps the simplicity while adding some more character and conveying the “you missed” message better
I know that nobody is gonna read this, but screw it. I think playtime doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things, but having a massive amount of hours does help to lend some sort of credibility to any point that you're going to make. I'm sooner going to trust someone with 1000 hours (and that is still a tiny amount compared to other figures I've seen in the community) to know what they're talking about compared to someone with 10 hours. Granted, that doesn't mean I'm going to take their word as gospel.
Seeing the opinions of a player with a small playtime is interesting especially post bots. While the community of TF2 is thriving despite VALVe's best efforts, first time impressions of the game are at an all time low. I mean just image your very first game of TF2 being a bot infested lobby, not to even mention the introduction problems TF2 had before the bots ever slithered into the scene. It's why all opinions should be considered no matter the playtime.
Playtime is difficult to interpret at least in my case cause I had multiple accounts that had played tf2 for years and had more than 10k hours and to this day it doesn't matter in the large scale of things. I had trust issues with higher hours than lower hour players because lower hours have genuine curiosity, care, and perspectives to tf2 and talking to them is a great experience as they see the tf2 and it's community with interest
I agree, there’s a lot of different factors that can influence it - your playtime might not be completely accurate, it could track time spent in menus or queueing for games - your playtime might be spent on things like idle servers, community 2Fort, or side modes like medieval that don’t really help you improve at the game - you might have playtime split across multiple accounts, in offline single player, or from a period of the games history where it was very different to today - perhaps most importantly, everyone learns at a different rate. Part of the game that might come naturally to one person could be impossible for another person to wrap their head around. In my case it was rocket jumping. I was able to pick up the basics very quickly, but no matter how much I practiced I could never get the hang of things like pogos or rollouts
The one thing that bums me out is that there isn't enough pant cosmetics. Like we have all these great shirts just no great pants to go along with it. Of course we have some good ones for heavy, such as the Jungle Booty and the Mann of the House Lo-Grav Loafers are nice but halloween only. Surgical Survivalist is nice for a battle medic like outfit. The Tartantaloons are nice for pirate demoman.
While it’s obvious that 10k hours player obviously knows much more about TF2, than 1 hour player, I think there is no difference in knowledge between 10k hours player and 5k hours player. Also when the player started playing is also very important. People could play like 10k hours since like 2018 and know nothing about the game’s history.
for the battle medic thing at 39:29 it blocks the normal arm band logo thing and replaces it, which I imagine would be a bit of a no no for cosmetics that want to be added
1:30:01 Oh boy if that's ever get added I bet it will be worth a lot of $$$ because people like pink satured colors and community sparkles sparkles effect. Also the effect it's more big than og flames and scorching flames for some reason. I'm just gonna stick to my favorite effect. Frostbite. simple yet beautiful at the same time (in my opinion).
ok so i see both sides of the argument here, and for me, its a mix of both. Yes, people with more time in the game in question, will have more conformed experiences & opinions about the game they are talking about, because they have played it for longer BUT NO, because if you only listen to old heads, then you game becomes inaccesable to new players, which means your game will die.
Such a sad thing to know that you have this careful eye for reviewing content to this game and no one at Valve moves a finger to "review your reviews" and apply it. You could be creating lists and patches of content actually aligned with game's identity and intermediating the quality of the crates and cases from here and on. Thank you for this, Zesty, It's aweful to see the state of Team Fortress 2, and even more watching talented creators like you not being taken advantage of.
The Green River map is an interesting concept, but after having played it in testing, It's an inherently flawed mode where either you get steamrolled and the match ends in a minute, or the round takes an hour. If the locations for the control points were different, It'd probably flow more fluidly, cause when I played in it's testing, the points were next to spawn, which shockingly didn't lead to spawncamping
Orange and blue could work but a bright white would look shitty if you saw it in tf2. Its a good idea tho, I just think strider warrants would be amazing.

Only five mins in, will slowly watch the rest of the stream as I get time. But on the topic of weather play time matters: When talking about games and more specifically game balance, yes. You can do all the research you want and craft as many balance theories as you wish but you will never have an actual true grasp on how the game balance is until you play the game a decent length of time and try out as much as you can mechanically. It should also be noted this gameplay should primarily come from how the game was intended to be played rather then unofficial offshoots. Such as playing casual in tf2 vs 6v6 competitive or community 4 team zombie medic mario kart pillow fight death match for the majority of your playtime. As for lore, time played matters less as you will more than likely be able to consume the most information quickly by looking up lore videos and reading fan pages. That being said, playtime still matter to an extent as you will never fully grasp how it feels to be in the universe of the game without playing it first. Plus even if you cross reference your sources you may still get some misinformation or miss small details you would otherwise get if you simply experienced the game first hand. Such as thinking heavy having a phd in Russian literature is cannon. As for understanding an art style id say its more or less the same as understanding the lore in terms of research and experience being needed. You can go off mostly research but you will need to put in some hours if you expect to truly get it.
Low playtime players usually have good opinions other than: Spy op ( they fell for the same pyro disguise for the 20th time that game), Enemy soldier is cheating because he can spot his disguise( he has been told several times by his teammates that he has the vacc shield bug but only seems to know the response "kys") and "WM1 bullshit" (they whiffed 9 meatshots on a pyro) and "random crits stupid" ( they took a direct crocket at 40 health and decided to complain, or ran into a players melee range) and "RBS stupid" (they keep hitting 1-3 pellet shots because they can't aim) and "Demoknight is so op" (no they were not using the eyelander). I have seen all of these in casual in the past month. Come to think of it, 90 percent of their opinions are garbo.
Honorable mentions include: "He can't be cheating he is playing demo" "He is cheating because he random crit me a bunch" "Spy is unplayable" "Scout should have a secondary nailgun option to destroy sentries" "He's not a cheater he used voice and text chat"
@@wisbilt1650The random crit one is actually valid. Crit hacks exist and you can tell someone is crit hacking by an absurd ratio of crit kills to non-crit kills.
