I always hated the Holiday Restriction because there's shit that's locked like the Garden Bristles which is just a beard, or the entire Mad Doktor set, but they add shit like the Flame Warrior which is somehow not locked under Halloween.
I never understood why the Terracotta Trooper set is Halloween restricted. It's not my favorite set, but it doesn't really stand out from "normal" cosmetics.
Venice feels like a DOD:S map to me, I can't even really describe it in any way other than that, that's just the vibe I get from it. Honestly I quite like the map, I feel kinda nostalgic despite never playing on it before, I can't hate it. With that said, it does NOT belong in TF2, it just doesn't work.

The way it handled in a marketable way is very horrible, if 2015 valve or before ever decided to add saxton hale as a fun little alt gamemode, they would've done an SFM, an update website, specific achievements, and proper handling. The fact that the game hit 250K+ players in an instant without clear release date of the update and the usual "holiday 20xx" crap promotion is crazy. If valve promoted it well, 300~400K players peak isn't hard to grasp, at least in my eyes.
Yea im amazed they didn't hype up VSH mode more, I mean its a golden opportunity to help prop up the update as being something more than just another holiday sized update....weather ot not thats actually the case. Granted seeing how it was broken for quite a bit after launch maybe it was for the best.
We have a lot to thank you for getting some actual good items this update and I don't care what anyone says. I don't give a fuck how people in the "community" see you, I have been playing since 2014 and you're the closest to the original spirit of TF2 from that time that we can get from a TF2 UA-camr right now.
The thing with bots and cheaters is there really is no way to get rid of them for good. TF2 is free, making new Steam accounts is easy. This isn't an excuse for Valve letting it get as bad as it was at its peak, but players expecting the issue to be 'fixed' forever are delusional. The best we can get is sporadic bot fix updates that temporarily break bots every once in a while for a short time. The last big bot fix update actually did cut down on how many bots I personally run into in NA servers to like 20% as often as before. They only show up once or twice a night (granted I only play for like 2 hours a day average). Its worse late at night and in Australian servers specifically I hear, because the bots can get a majority while most players are offline and just lock down servers for hours. But outside of those cases its a lot better than it used to be. Not perfect, but it never will be. Valve needs to do a targeted bot killer update on Aussie servers, or do some major data collection on the botters and cheaters and mass ban them all at once or something to dissuade them. Most will come back though. But it might make the issue more bearable for a short time.
Shounic showcased some private servers coming up with scripts to detect bots, and I am stupidly optimistic for thinking the rating that appears at the end of the match could be used to train an anticheat model as in CS:GO. All of this, of course, requires Valve to put some effort aside from the accounting department :)
Years ago when I was younger I would have hated this video but now? I agree with everything you said, however I am of the more extreme opinion that cosmetics, the workshop, F2P and the community are what truly ruined TF2. Cosmetics can cause server lag and are just nauseating to look at (worst is that there is no "Disable Cosmetics" option, the workshop allows users to create the most utter garbage looking of cosmetics, F2P results in a massive wave of bots and hackers and finally the community who most often encourages all of this. At this point I genuinely believe TF2 will never be good unless it is reworked straight from the ground up with cosmetics being completely removed. TF2 is meant to be a class based shooter where players battle over territory, flags, payloads, etc in a casual or competitive nature. Not a god damn dress up simulator infested with bots.
I think adding VSH was good because the community server versions of Saxton Hale have become utter dogshit. Horrible balance changes, bad additional bosses, etc... The Vscript version isn't perfect, and TinyRock is a fucking horrible VSH map, but what's in the game now is infinitely better than what's running on Skial or elsewhere. You might have had a point if the original version that used to run on Intox's servers was still around, but it isn't. That being said, the new version has some weird balancing that should probably be addressed. Heavy's minigun does 40% less damage, sentries do 50% less damage, Wrangler doesn't work on sentries, these balance changes suck. It makes both classes pretty much useless and at the mercy of Hale not noticing them and murdering them immediately. Meanwhile, Demoknight, medic, and katana soldier are insane compared to any other strategy, like why does Medic get 50% uber with ubersaw, and why does he take 30% less damage while nobody else does? Regardless, it doesn't matter because a good Hale will win every time without fail due to the new version's insane mobility of spamming super jump to prevent most classes from landing hits. Super jump spam with weigh-down is horrendously broken because Hale doesn't have any cooldowns for it. So while balance is not great, it is still much better than pulling out the massive changelog where every single weapon is crazy and insane and does 1000 different things like it is on Skial. So, as long as they tweak the balance changes they did (basically removing half of them), I think the official VSH will be good enough to keep players coming back. Skial and Disc.FF are pretty much the only ones in the rat race for Saxton Hale servers nowadays, so I would much rather have the Vscript version always available to get in some games with players on casual than the completely mutated version that's on those two servers, because it is infinitely worse. They just need to undo the nerfs they gave Engie and Heavy and probably limit Hale a little on mobility and it should be good.
Thing with melee is though, Hale gets demoman swords' range on top of his speed. And TF2 got this weird thing of aggressor's advantage when it comes to melee, which means, thanks to hale's speed and range, means he will often outrange everyone, up until someone hits him first and halts his movement one way or another. You can go on a rampage as Hale, but once you get pushed into the wall by a demoknight or zatoichi soldier you have to pull out one of your abilities like charge or the ground pound. It's a massive gamble for both sides honestly to use melee, yet melee is the most effective way to damage hale when bullets do barely anything to Hale.
I think about the Saxton Hale mode. I'm fine playing it every summer, but I don't want to play it every day because it will lose the excitement. It's like eating lasagne every day, and you'll slowly get tired of it.
Meanwhile I myself, don't want it locked to a season. I can restrict myself on my own already and don't need someone else to restrict access to a mdoe for me, especially to a specific time in whole-ass year.

Saxton hales lines are horrible, I agree with that. But the mercs voices are pretty good. Their voice lines too. They’re tough sounding. They’re deeper and more aggressive. It suits them perfectly.
I have an idea for a sniper nerf. Similar to the sniper rifles in BioShock infinite or fallout 4. we give the sniper a few seconds of steady aim in use of a little bar when ran out his gun starts drifting and the shots are in accurate. The bar can be replenished by unscopeing or waiting 10 seconds.
That is pointless, the isue with sniper is quick-scopes, sniper can kill you faster than you can reac, giving sniper a penalty for scoping for to long solves nothing when the isue is quick scope shots

Honestly I hated pretty much all of the maps from the update, maybe its just cause i ate shit non stop but genuinely i dont remeber having any positive experiences, also fuck your seal map its just invasion but the gimmick works, on a worse map. Venice is the worst offender overall tho, only redeeming quality is that draw bridge I find it neat jumping across it.
