- A short playthrough on Hexis, the dead osu copy that died quite a long time ago. It was created due to unhappiness with how osu! was run, but barely got support from the dev at the end of its lifespan and eventually disappeared one day altogether. Sorry for the short and nothingburger video this week, but let me know what I should try next week!

i feel like osu is such a weird game to clone because not only is it an ouendan clone, it's already a free to play game with no ads and it's really hard to make that business model work
2:47 Those custom AR, OD, CS, and gamespeed adjust were really ahead of its time. Glad that those features are now in osu lazer mods (with even more options)

Okay, so you know how, back when NES Mario came out, there was Mario, then there were Mario clones, and then you had bootlegs of THOSE clones? Hexis feels like playing that one of those bootlegs.
Damn. Hexis got ratio'd so hard by Mckay (McOsu). And he was the only one who made the engine and the client for McOsu.

I would really appreciate a video about the "old" era of osu!, because I really like the look and feel that the old clients have. I even went as far to create custom servers for them lol

i wish hexis is still around, the hold note, while being a rather cheap gimmick is so cool. currently there's no good way to force a complete stop in movement, players will cursor dance on stacks, if you try not to make people do so then the tapping hand will be too straining, make shift hold notes with sliders are usually too unreadable and/or it doesn't fit in a non tech map (it's also a bit too lenient cuz of the slider ring), the maps in the video doesn't fully explore the note's potential but if the game's still running i bet people will come up with some cool af use of it

you really should try this new game called rizline, from the same devs as phigros, the gameplay very simple, only tap, catch and long notes, but here is the thing, you can press anywhere on the screen to catch the notes, i having so much fun with it and it has been the first rhythm game i spent money on ever.

do you think hi-fi rush could be up your alley? it combines timing based inputs with melee combat action like you see in devil may cry or god of war. i know you arent much of a gamer outside of rhythm games but i thought id mention it.
