    The Vagus Nerve:
The 10th cranial nerve, known as the “vagabond” nerve, it branches out to numerous organs, including the eyes, throat, voice box, facial muscles, heart, lungs, stomach, intestines, pancreas, and more.
It acts like software, directing the function of your hardware (organs and systems).
Plays a key role in homeostasis, resilience, and the inflammatory response.
It controls both sensory and motor function.
    Hacking the Vagus Nerve:
    Breathing:
Slow, prolonged expiration stimulates the vagus nerve, reducing sympathetic activity and promoting relaxation.
Breathe in for a count of 5, breathe out for a count of 10.
    Focus on abdominal breathing.
    Cold Immersion:
Cold showers stimulate the vagus nerve, promoting relaxation, reducing inflammation, and improving resilience.
    Eye Massage:
Gently massage your eyeballs to stimulate the vagus nerve.
Look left and right, holding each position for 5 seconds.
    Ice Pack:
Apply an ice pack to your neck for 5 minutes to stimulate the vagus nerve.
    Humming:
Hum for 10 minutes to stimulate the vagus nerve.
    Laughing:
Laughter triggers vagus nerve stimulation, reducing stress and promoting relaxation.
    Gargling:
Gargling loudly with saline or water stimulates the vagus nerve.
    Balloon Blowing:
Raising intrathoracic pressure by blowing a balloon stimulates the vagus nerve.
    Valsalva Manoeuvre:
Inhale, close your glottis, and strain, increasing abdominal pressure.
    Intense Activity & Rest:
Short bursts of intense activity followed by complete rest stimulates the vagus nerve and promotes rapid recovery.
    Benefits of Vagus Nerve Stimulation:
    Reduced blood pressure and inflammation
    Improved heart rate variability
    Better digestion
    Increased resilience
    Reduced stress, anxiety, and depression
    Improved sleep quality
    Improved recovery from surgery
    Improved gut health
Reduced risk of chronic diseases, including Parkinson’s and dementia
    Reduced perimenopausal symptoms
    Lifestyle Factors:
    Diet:
Eat a healthy diet rich in omega-3 fatty acids, fibre, and fermented foods.
Limit processed foods, refined carbohydrates, and vegetable seed oils.
Consider fasting to improve gut health and vagus nerve function.
    Mindset:
    Practice mindfulness, meditation, and gratitude.
Live in the moment, forgive, and release the past.
    Find meaning in your life.
    Build strong social connections.
    Important Considerations:
The vagus nerve is crucial for overall health and well-being.
It can be effectively stimulated through a variety of simple techniques.
Addressing underlying gut health issues is essential for optimising vagus nerve function.
Maintaining a positive mindset and strong social connections are crucial for optimal vagus nerve health.
Consult a healthcare professional for any concerns or before implementing significant changes.
This summary provides a basic understanding of the vagus nerve and how to enhance its function. It is recommended to research and consult with a healthcare professional for personalized advice and guidance.

An idea I've had after watching this video and thinking about other possibilities.
      - Washing your face & neck without drying it and then using a fan to blow air over it is extremely stimulating and feels amazing. And for some reason the dry skin in my ear clears up when I do this several times a day.

But I can't imagine not ever eating some rice or potatoes now and then as part of my meals! I am disgusted by the doctors at Kaiser. My dad trusted his doctor religiously 😢-this “quack” staunchly denied that my dad was suffering from Parkinson’s when we started seeing signs in his late 60’s and 70’s-this doctor refused to test for years- as a result, my dad suffered terribly under this doctors “care”- terrible gastrointestinal issues which brought him agony until my dad passed from Parkinson’s complications at 82.

    • @tyafasf
      @tyafasf Місяць тому +2

@hawkinscsa I have the same problem unfortunately…my recent episode of aFib is definitely connected to my other organs and gut which perhaps is the trigger but because the healthcare system in the US operates in isolation, the doctors do not care to look at you holistically, plus that is not how they were trained. They prescribe Metoprolol and Eliquis instantly to avoid a stroke. A good DO, not MD can get you back on track and identify the trigger. BUT trust yourself, and do your homework.

I have suffered with CPTSD for many years and I know only too well how corrupted your vegus nerve becomes due to this state of being. I have experienced all of the side effects of an unhappy vegus nerve and believe me, it has been hell! This information is vital for holistic wellbeing and the good doctor is correct, no one talks about this vital nerve. Never, not once has any therapist or medical practitioner even mentioned it to me. I am only aware of its impact by virtue of UA-cam!!! God bless these resources!!! 🙏 in my humble experience, Ujayyi breath is the most powerful tool for calming this nerve. I also recommend yoga, meditation and AUM chanting! ❤️ as well as a good diet that is based in whole food and good fats, B complex supplements 🙏

Doc, is it not fashionable to say that people should do pranayama or kapalabhati breeting?
These are techniques described in the Hindu scriptures many thousands of years ago. Western practitioners adopt these without giving any credit to the original source.
This comment should not detract from the awesome videos Dr P produces. The first video on fasting was mind boggling to me and adopted one meal day very easily and would watch that video over and over. OMAD or 48hr fasting became easy because the reason for fasting was so clearly explained. It changed my health and reversed my diabetes

I really think bringing this holistic ways in with the way we do things in medicin today could heal the world. Also understanding how to heal our stressed cultures and our selves. I _Never_ believed in "Breathing Exercises" until lately. Two components that Dr. Jamnadas speaks to that affects me Individually:
1.) My "sliding" hiatal Hernia (an internal physiological problem), which when triggered, directly "mis-stimulates" my Vagus nerve, causing Heart palpitations and/or severe heartburn.
2.) How Breathing management can turn on, and turn off many, many human neural system responses.
Example: Have a hard time going to sleep? Do 10 minutes of 4-10-7 breathing technique exercise. Inhaling for 4 seconds, holding your breath for 10 seconds, and exhaling for 7 seconds. For about 7 Minutes, or 2 splits of 4 minutes each. Similar for Hiatal Hernia cause heartburn.

If you can nasal breath i recommend keeping your mouth shut for exercise, go at that pace. Slow or what speed you can with mouth closed. I've had premature heartbeat for 15 years, it's related to direct daily work stress, low nitric oxide production, less vein puffy ness. When my belly is fatty/puffy higher visceral fat. It might be heart fat pushing on it. Or some say aortic area pressure pushing up on your heart too. I'm glad it's working for you. I think cold showers help me. Wim hoff method too. or slow breath out holds and walking around. Maybe get a blood o2 saturation meter and see if you can get it to drop. It's an indicator of co2 tolerance. When co2 goes up nitric oxide production goes up. And it lessens total pressures and increases total circulation for the same cardiac output.

I went to a chiropractor for hiatal hernia. A chiropractor can pop that back into place. I had a treatment, then a month later, a second. I started eating a lot of meat and eggs, as I had not been prior. I figured the meat and eggs would help to build that muscle. Those two things helped fix the hiatal hernia, fast. Best to you. Hh is no fun way to live.

Wow 🤩🙏 right from the first minute of listening this doctor I’ve been blown away. 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏This is the best explanation about my so ‘deadly’, ‘live shortening’, degenerating condition. I was told that I need to manage my heart condition from 4 different pillars. Like a chair 🪑, I was told by my health care provider that, in order to keep my heart pumping to keep me alive, I have to take medications for each ‘leg of my chair’ to extend my life. No one ever mentioned the VAGUS NERV, that by the way I pointed out right when I enter into A&E in Hospital because I had all the symptoms that indicate my automated nerve system was not working. It was all ignored as if I spoke an alien language.
Intentionally or not, consciously or not, the medical staff might have been trained to repeat a narrative that, if not convincing, it must be intimidating and scary. Their aim to let your fear make you surrender to their instructions designed by those who profit 💰 from your vulnerable condition.

I can tell you that this Man has changed my life. It was very easy for me to stop all sugar, most carbs and fast everyday and everyone is telling me that I look so much better and I lost sagging fat in my face that I look younger.
I looked good already(not boasting) now I look even better. I had Afib, heart failure and kidneys failure stage 3a. I still worry about my health and have always felt fine but knowing I am doing what I am supposed to be doing, if I die I will not feel bad because I know I have tried my best. Oh and by the way I have never tried alcohol, cigarettes or drugs of any kind. My hope is something like gene therapy or stem. Cell therapy will be able to help heal my kidneys because they say you cannot heal your kidneys.

      It makes, sense.
On the gogogo you produce stresshormones and no animal will eat during a flight, fight, flee situation.
From what i understood...in that mode your digestion stops, your blood goes whith all hormones to the vital organs to flee, fight, freeze situation, to the muscles, brain, eyes, heart and so on. The digestive part can wait a few minutes.
But what if you have CONSTANT stress. Bad is it?
