At 65 years old I decided to quit smoking cigarettes after being a heavy smoker for 54 years. I also decided I needed to lose 160 pounds… which required me to quit drinking alcohol, after being an alcoholic for 30 years. I had extremely high blood pressure and cholesterol levels plus I had type 2 diabetes.
I went on the keto diet and did intermittent fasting and in 2 years I had gone from 350 pounds down to 190 pounds. My blood pressure and cholesterol levels went back to normal and my type ll diabetes disappeared.
I’ve maintained my weight loss for 4 years and have continued eating ketogenic foods and I only drink black coffee and water… nothing else.
I never actually mentally went on a diet… I simply changed my relationship with food and changed what and when I eat. Food is now only a nutritional tool I consume to fuel my body. I NEVER snack and I eat 1 or 2 meals a day when I’m hungry. My new normal is to be lightly hungry about half of my waking moments and I’m ok with that.

I am 50 years old and as of January 1st of this year, I weighed 213 pounds at 5-10. fast forward to two months later, I weigh 180 pounds. I had started working out late in 2022, but nothing was moving or changing, which is very typical for me. I discovered this amazing man on youtube and was just captured by his honesty, passion and the way in which he delivers a message. He single handedly changed my life. As of today, I am more muscular, leaner and look younger than i did 30 years ago. I tell my wife that I feel like I am somehow cheating because of the drastic changes, it has been amazing. Today am updating my progress: 5/ 18 /23 my note: I am 180 pounds! bmi 26, and daily average BS is 117. FBS is still greater than 115 by a little most days but I will take that. Doing 2 meals most days 18/6 window, then 24 hr fasts on Saturday or Sunday. Get my labs drawn in 10 days. Keeping carbs to 30 gms or less.
I am 62, female, fatty liver, bmi 29, just had A1c of 10.1 last week! In one week I went to whole food based diet with protein from unprocessed meat, eggs, legumes, absolutely no processed foods or carbs, no sweets. My fbs went from 329 1 week ago, to 150 in 7 days. I lost 6 lbs, water weight, but feel better. I am walking and had been resistance training for 2 years. I am happy to have found this channel. I hope more fasting, and adding fermented foods, will help me achieve my goal of normalized blood sugars. Coming from a sugar addict, this is my wake up call.

I’m 66 with type 2 diabetes for 23 years, I’ve had one coronary bypass last year, I’m experiencing atrial fibrillation, I’m 94kg, YET I’ve eaten healthy foods for at least 40 years. Three simple changes I’m making: one meal a day, eating fermented vegetables, walking at least 4 miles a day. The result? Insulin injections down from 130u to 32u a day; 14 lbs weight lost; blood sugars under control; better mental clarity. Thank you, doctor. You have given hope to many!

There is no method involved. I listen to the body. We forgot as a society that we are on our own with our sickness and health for a whole life. We need to know when we should eat. It’s not that complicated. Nor it should’nt be. Now i have covid. I am naturally not hungry. Why should i force myself to eat when i have brain fog, achy muscles and headache? I drink water and electrolites and wait untill my suffering end. Sometimes it’s the best what you can do.

After watching videos of this kind, I started changing my diet drastically: I stopped sugar altogether, eating only fresh food, drinking fermented milk, stopping drinking beer, eating lots of fresh veggies cooked with butter gee ( no more seed oils, just raw olive oil on my daily salad.
After a gradual 3 day fasting I started to eat once a day. I lost nearly 20 kg ( I was 85 kg now 67 kg). My BMI is now 23 and I am feeling like never before. I spoke with an Indonesian friend of mine about food once. She mentioned how she found eating to be a chore, that is was boring and chewing was so annoying. I realized she had a very different relationship with food than me. I found her logic to be incredibly consistent and I agreed with her after short contemplation. When I realized eating was a chore, when I realized it is a necessity for inviting good things into my body, when I realized it is not supposed to be exciting, I was able to make the switch that I wasn't going on a brief diet but I was instead changing my diet and my perspective entirely. It's just something that clicked. I realize it's a responsibility to eat properly.

You just described what's going on in my body today. I was diagnosed w/metabolic syndrome several years ago by my primary MD. My blood sugars are still normal but from your lectures I realized that I'm insulin resistant and all that inflammation is what's causing my health problems today. It leads back to an unhealthy diet. I thought I was eating well w/an organic diet and "healthy snacks". Yet I've developed eczema and new food allergies. Leaky gut is what I need to heal. I ordered my MK7 last night. I started a new diet today that will become a way of life that you would approve. The more I listen to your lectures the more I realize how I wound up in this unhealthy state. Thank you because in this quest to heal myself I finally found the answers.

Could you be wheat and or gluten intolerant? I found out I was about two years ago. I now do not eat any wheat or gluten, nothing with it in and I feel so much better as I too like you was suffering eczema which has largely gone. It does flare up occasionally if I am lazy and eat food with wheat or gluten in. Also my brain fog has now totally gone. Keto diet, no wheat no gluten OMAD with IF once a week for 36 hours. Happy Days.

@@alexmorgan3435 I've been allergy tested for wheat and it was negative. I think the doctor is correct and it's the insulin resistance. I already feel better. I slept good last night and I don't have the muscle and joint pains I've lived with for so long. I can even breathe better which is a miracle. I wasn't expecting my lungs to be affected yet they are. I can eat like this for the rest of my life. This is huge. I never dreamed insulin resistance would cause so much suffering.

Fascinating, Dr. J! You're the first physician (and the first cardiologist) in my experience who seems to have a comprehensive understanding of the complex interactions behind atherosclerosis - and a plausible explanation for the vascular damage. (Most others have placed all their faith - as well as their patients' welfare - in statins.) Your observations and theory are completely consistent with my experiences, which gives me hope of eventually understanding and controlling the problem. We're looking forward to your series!

Wow! When is the last time you got this much information from your doctor? I recently made several four hour round trips to see this doctor for cardio evaluation. Was absolutely worth it. I didn't get to see him but he still oversees each patient's work-up. If your cardio system is on a path to health then it's a pretty good sign that the rest of you is on the right path too. Thank you doctor for being the model of the medical profession in my lifetime. All with the sponsorship of UA-cam I might add.

My waist to hip measurement went from about 90-109 to 79-104 (cm) in about a year fasting and following a vegetarian, legume heavy diet. Daily exercise, too, but food was more important. So, I lost plenty of weight too, but it's deceptive 'cause I built muscle mass... Which I have energy to develop, due to building good habits, starting from diet.
The beautiful thing is, that I *can* have the occasional guilty grilled cheese, or some sweets, and not fall apart and binge. It feels like my body is genuinely rebooted whence it comes to diet.

I've felt mentally foggy most of my life, and tried cutting out wheat. That helped a little bit, but what really put me on the road to mental clarity was listening to your advice on avoiding processed foods. I used to cheat every once in a while, and immediately felt the effects right afterwards. I try to saty on the straight and narrow now and my mind is a lot crisper and cleaner than it ever was, even when I was a kid. Thank you so much for your wisdom!

When I first started to change my metabolic health by going low carb / ketogenic, I started to kill off the micro biome that had evolved on the bad food I had been eating for so long. Low carb food made my GI health change radically as the bad bugs died off and I suffered from frequent and massive excreation. Once the GI upset stopped, my metabolism started to change with the signs that a keto genic diet provides. I now feel like I am feeding myself not a bunch of bacteria that doesn't have my best interests at hand.
