I love this new James HATFIELD guitar!
Its names snake byte:)
Doesn't the main riff have a little Megadeth feel to it? It's soo sickk
@@MetaITurtle absolutely, also getting a heavy Motörhead vibe
@@Raveman846 byte*
@@OlaEnglund its also is a speed metal vibe there.
This song is actually the most difficult metallica song for me to learn because i do not play guitar
Mind. Blown.
😂😎
Even harder for me to learn since I don't even own a guitar!
Nice comment 🗿
🤣🤣🤣
How does it differ from other Metallica songs, difficulty wise?
"It's good that I am a little bit sloppy like Kirk". Priceless, that was hilarious.
Kirk is actually less sloppy live than James. Blame the singing I guess. In the studio James smokes no doubt. On the guitar not necessarily literally smokes..:
@@vidmachine Yeah, he's tighter on the rhythm live, mostly because James has to sing and has to loosen up a bit. Lead though, he's better than he used to be before Hardwired but still pretty sloppy.
It's music made and played by humans, not the robotic lab made crap nowadays
Thats like…your opinion little dude
@@oskarfunes2505 Lux Æterna is an obviously time aligned song with a lot of fake and modified drums. The singing is super processed and has obvious autotune. Pretty robotic song
Nice job! Couldn’t help but laugh when you were learning Kirk’s solo. “He’s just picking and there’s notes In between.” 😂 We love you, Kirk!
I really would love to see Metallica and Megadeth switching guitarrists... Kiko Loureiro would be sooooo much better in Metallica..but on the other hand, i dont know if Kirk would be able to play on Megadeth...lol
Kirk is 60 guys, you can feel how heavy is getting for him, not everyone can age good
@@elcookiemonsteru check out Bradley Hall’s video “What if Metallica and Megadeth switched guitarists?” It’s pretty accurate.
@@elcookiemonsteru funnily enough, the last video Bradley uploaded was his improvement on the solo to this song, and the top comment when I looked at it was someone saying it sounds more like a Marty Friedman solo.
@@elcookiemonsteru I love Kiko to absolute death. But just NO. Metallica solos and their entire style live off Kirks simpler pentatonic stuff. Sure Kiko could do some more melodic, exotic stuff etc but in 9 out of 10 times it wouldnt really fit what Metallica is all about.
James said it was a fun song to write and that it was easy. They’re just having fun man and it sounds energetic. It’s great.
Your tone is so fucking good!
also the video cuts at ~5:25
That's probably his signature chug pedal 😎
Basically every tone he has is eargasmic to me. Meanwhile I'm over here with tone that would make my grandmother roll over in her grave, just straight cheeks up at me.
@@RD-js3uo The IR he uses is key, most IRs in VST's are quite frankly inferior to what a professionnal might use.
@@RD-js3uo lol me too.. solid state ... Pre gain dimed out.. and Post cranked lmao stanky! 🤣😂
Watching Ola learn a song on air guitar for 10+ minutes is the thing I needed today. Rock on Brother!
This song is refreshing to be honest. They went back to their roots but with tighter playing and a much bigger sound. James’ vocals give me a Garage inc. vibe. Good stuff all around. Love the guitar Ola.
Exactly this! Was really refreshing that they’re back at it. Hopefully they can keep this up.
Really? It sounds like 70s hair metal nothing like metallica thrash from the early days
@@neonblack211 Wtf hair metal didn't even exist in the 70s, only glam rock and maybe Kiss, if we consider them glam (which I wouldn't).
@@Cthulhu_Awaken sorry bad wording and comparison... it sounds like early to mid 80's..... also sounds way more like motorhead than it does "metallica's roots"... it's definitely not thrash metal
@@neonblack211 This song is more an homage to speed metal and their first influences like Motörhead and Judas Priest. So, it's actually speed metal. See Too Far Gone?, Room Of Mirrors, and Spit Out The Bone for the "return to roots" sort of thing.
It blows my mind how easily you learn these songs just by ear
Dude it's not hard at all.
@@Spawn-wt6ul idk man..I need a visual to learn parts lol
I watched Dean Lamb (guitarist of Archspire) learn a Periphery solo like no problem. It made me really jealous that he was able to learn it in a matter of minutes. It would take me probably a month to learn what he learned so quickly lol
The only way to get better at learning songs by ear... is to practice learning songs by ear. Your mind-instrument connection improves.
I also thought I was never gonna learn any songs by ear, because of how insane it was to me to learn something by listening to it. Turns out it's easier than I thought if you've been playing for a bit of time. Just try it, and stick to it ! that's really the hardest part, to stick to it. Also helps that this song is pretty easy to understand and play. I have a lot more trouble figuring out stuff like Yngwie because of his tone and style, notes blend in together it's much harder
Nice timing for the new guitar!
I was sitting with it yesterday wondering what I should do with it, and Metallica drops the song :D
@@OlaEnglundI love it when you ask the Universe the right question, and get an immediate answer.
@@OlaEnglund I wish that happened to me lol
@@OlaEnglund spooky! I wonder if the next signature Hetfield's a white Gibson Flying V 🤞
Really getting into your videos btw, awesome shit!
The fact that you got the same Hetfield tone is amazing!
Metallica shows us that you don't need drop Z tuning to deliver heavy & aggressive metal riffs.
Very true but funny if you have a tuner that can tune like with the Hz and you set it to like 435 or 432 makes it sound that much better it's notable and I love it
But Metallica shows that creativity runs out at some point and bands just write the most trite, generic stuff after a while.
This sounds like some generic stuff someone would throw into some early 2000s racing game made in Japan.
@@ALaz502 Metallica hasn't made a good CD in 30 years. They are trash
The new song is pretty cool. It has some Motörhead, Diamond head and kill 'em all vibes for sure.
I'm so happy that you jumped straight on it :D!!!! Thanks for the great content Ola
“Remembering the different parts and where they go”
That’s the only reason I find some Metallica songs difficult to play. There’s always some random piece I forget to play, particularly on their long songs.
I felt like that with Dyers Eve from and justice for all
Love these episodes! This takes me back to learning a song or an album upon release, only, it was done by rewinding the cassette over and over. Thanks Ola.
Yeah and never said what plug in he used for that
I think
New song rocks. I instantly thought Motorhead, even the drums have an overkill vibe from the get go.
First thing that popped in my head hearing this Motorhead meets Diamondhead. This is the Metallica that all of us old men have been screaming at clouds about since the Black Album... lol
I instantly thought “Lars is gonna have a hard time with this song live.”
I thought it had a Garage Days EP era feel to it. I dig it. Can't wait for the rest of the album!
Vocals are a bit Rob Halford even.
@@carbajal8283 genius talk. Never seen that hilarious comment before.
Cool video! Nice to see someone learn to play a song on their own. Please make more!
What's most impressive is that you nailed the tone.
this was so fun to watch!! moving forward im always learning along with you
Nice! Right on it from the rip! Great work, sounded great!
Thank you man
This format of videos is great! Liking the new song too! :)
Nice work as always 😎 it's a great song! Look forward to the drum cover
I’ve always liked this series watching You learn songs bro. Here’s to many more vids of you learning songs. Sooo sick!!!!
It’s got a Hit the Lights intro riff vibe combined with a very punk rock inspired verse. I’ve got mixed feelings about it, but can’t wait to hear the rest of the album.
Yeah it reminds me of Kill Em All, specifically Hit The Lights and I too heard Motorhead influence, had strong Overkill vibes to me
Someone out the vocals to Hit The Lights with the instrumental of Lux Æternal
You rocked it! Nice job! I think it's a really great vibe!
Ola, thanks for this video, it’s really educational to see your process and I’m glad that you also shared that it took 40 whatever minutes to learn. Excellent stuff, thanks!!
That solo is very tricky, I just learned the James part hahah, awesome playing Ola and what beautiful LTD!!
Perfect time to demo that LTD Camo Snakebyte 🐍 love this old school E standard Thrasher … full speed or Nothing 🤘🔥🤘
Epic thanks for sharing Ola 🤟🎸
Perfect Ola! The old fashioned way just playing along and figure it out :)
Has a Garage Days 80s Vibe to it (Stone Cold Crazy) with their modern style of the last 2 albums. I can't wait until the new Album it's probably going to rock as fast just like this song does! Funny I had no idea a new song until this video, went to check it out then came back to watch this, hehe. What amps etc did you use for this video the Tone is Great!!!
Glad you put a comma before the "hehe"💀
Vocals sound like Sabra cadabra!
Especially since Stone Cold Crazy is a Queen song.
I also like the original camo hard case, the same color with the guitar. Looks amazing
Dude, the red Solar guitar sound ridiculously good!!
And the LTD...JESUS!!!
Great vid! Your playing is always next level!
Hey Ola, thanks for these videos. I used to learn songs from tutorial videos but your Ola learns videos inspired me to learn by ear. Even if i get the notes wrong, i understand how its played now, and its more fun this way. I have been able to learn songs from my local bands which have no tutorials online.
Good stuff Ola, nailed it. I dig that Metallica is at least trying to go back to thrash metal. I definitely don’t hate it.
It's like "Kill Em All" meets "Hardwired" for me. Definitely has a Motorhead vibe too. The drums are definitely Anthrax's cover of "Got The Time". Very similar.
@@SuperRoo_22 😆 it really does, i had to go over and listen. It’s almost the exact same tempo, even the riff has a similar feel. Anthrax doesn’t have that constant double kick, but even still, has almost the exact same feel to it.
Finally Metallica is going back to thrash! Just like the last time they released a simple song ahead of a new album and were finally going back to thrash! Sorry about your brain damage/short-term memory loss Metallica fans.
@@rottingcorpse6565 metallica is the only band to have "finally gone back to their roots" 3 albums in a row now apparently
@@IndependenceGuitar When i 1st heard "Lux AEterna", i thought those drums sound familiar. But i couldn't quite place them. Had to rack my brain a bit. Then it dawned on me, "Got The Time"! Sort of ironic considering that Pantera are going to be playing shows with Metallica. Can't wait to hear this new line up of Pantera. Hopefully it's nothing less than perfect. But i will also be open minded about it. Very interested to hear the rest of "72 Seasons" too. To see what direction they hve taken. 🤔
This was awesome!
Ola, It’s awesome watching you pick up this song so quickly and make it sound so good! It’s one of those Metallica songs that gets better, the more you listen to it! You definitely nailed the tone! 🤘🤘
It's a pretty easy song to figure out and play.
However as with any Metallica song, it's fun to play as hell. Can't blame Ola for having so much fun with it.
Great work, man. This song is getting better and better the more I listen to it. \m/
Hey Ola, there's a pedal you can use to control the UA-cam fonctions so you can always keep your hands on your guitar to learn songs like that. The brand is Vidami, they even make a wireless model. You should test it out. I have the USB wired(the cheap one) and it works great.
Great song by Metallica though. Solid playing Ola as always 🔥. Much love from the Philippines
So FKIN kool to watch a PRO at work . OLA you make it look so easy !!! I got most of the rhythm / I just have to pick up the speed !
MUCH Love and Thanks OLA !
This video is really cool. I love the insight into how pros learn songs.
Nailed it Ola 🔥🤘🏻👊🏻😀
A lot of people pick on kirk and I think he's got some arthritis problems or something that limit his playing. I noticed since 2014 his live playing hasn't been quite the same , and HWTSD solos speak for themselves. Still one of my favorite players and his work in the 80's and 90's holds up to this day.
Can't wait to buy this new CD. This song kicks it . I definitely love it. Excellent job guys. Stay safe and well and keep Rocking Ola. Signed John (Zepbass) Gregory, from Munster Indiana, U.S.A.
Great ear Ola!! That’s how I learned to play as well. No tab books till years after. Nailed it! 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Sick man, did a cover myself aswell. Feels like they're back to their roots somewhat with Black Album vibes with even Lars having the White Tama's from 90's.
Well done Ola!! I can't wait to hear the rest of this album! It's good to see Metallica getting back to their roots man... long time coming.
Yeah those last 3 hip-hop albums really through me for a loop.
Ha! Love this! Rock on Ola! BTW, loving my Solar V!
Really surprised how close the tone was on the Solar, but the Papa Het guitar gave it that lil extra stank. Now i wanna go home and jam out to this track even more!
Tack så mycket for the fun vid Sir Ola!
Love how Kirk plays pentatonics and everybody jokes about it....But Kirk makes those pentatonics sound Kirky and iconic....Love this solo!
This song gives off big Garage Days vibes. I love it.
James is always a killer riff writer.. So old school but fresh!! Love it!
This is what I said. It sounds familiar and raw like KEA but at the same time it's unique and fresh. That isn't easy to do James is so fn talented it's insane. Love that dude. I cannot believe we have new Metallica, new megadeth and new ozzy all in the same year and it's all good. It feels like it's 1988 again lol
@@midnight347 it is a pretty epic year for some good rock. I'm pretty excited about this new Metallica based on this song. I kind of like it better than the last two albums stuff. Although those are pretty good albums too, this sounds more them.
Great tune , great guitar , and great job Ola !
I rarely like a video, but I liked this one. Quick to market and very accurate.
As soon as I got home last night I learnt this 😂 it’s so much fun to play 🤘
Blues is fun.
The kill 'em all Spirit is back! Great song! Great sound!
Hell yes! Killed it! This was awesome to watch. :D
You always up to the minute with stuff very cool
Glad to see at 14:34 that even professionals are keep smiling when hitting the right tones the first time. 👍🤘
neat riffs. drums sound good.
production is great
@@OlaEnglundthere isn’t much low end when listening to the song on youtube on my headphones. love the song though
Your memorizing ability is mindblowing man! 👊
Bloody hell, you are James and Kirk all in one. Respect!
Big difference in sound between those pickups in the 2 guitars, Het set are so good
Loved this song so much... Yeah it really felt like 100% classic Metallica. Listened to it once, picked up a guitar and my fingers were right on it lol felt like I already knew the song. This is honestly the best they've been in like 2 decades.
Lux Æterna sounds like it’s straight outta the Kill ‘Em All vault. Thank you Ola for doing this video, it’s helping me a ton on this tune! Love it.
🤘🏻😈🤘🏻
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🤘🤘🤘🤘❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥 You sound so sick Ola!!!! Love the signature guitar too
The tabs where all over the internet and UA-cam just 1-2 hours after the song was out.
Sounds like some Kill em all song.
Motorhead, Budgie and Metallica all rolled into 1 song.. its growing on me for sure. Great video Ola !
You nailed it!! I dig the song a lot.
You nailed it man!!!!
WHAT A LEGEND! 🎸
I've been taking a break from the political side of UA-cam to focus on keep my mental health and Ola you've made the break seamless. Thank you for helping me be joyful my dude🤘
Du har verkligen talang asså!! Riktigt nice, lät perfekt👌🏻😍
I learned this song yesterday afternoon. I dig it a lot. Going to tackle the solo this weekend. I hope the rest of the new album is as good as this new tune.
Ola!! Love the vids man! I heard this song the day it dropped and I’ve been watching your “ola learns” series lately which inspired me to try it out for myself and you beat me to it. Haha however, I did watch this vid and learn it with you. Well, everything except the solo cuz I suck at solos but I did learn a few tricks from you. I’ll keep practicing and maybe one day I’ll do it as good as you! Thanks for the vids! Getcha Pull!
Kirk's solos are becoming more and more abstract
The first half of the solo is literally recycled from other songs
@@khall187 Exacly. Devil’s Dance, anyone? You can almost hear Lars in the back going “Hey man, do that thing from Devil’s Dance and cut it in there. Greg, get ready to cut in three more parts I really like from the past”
Lars' drumming is still beyond abstract. Why can't they hire a real drummer!!!!???!!!
That's one way to put it
U mean abtrash 🗑️
I'm glad they wrote a song,in A, wasn't expecting that
Hit the Lights is also in A.
dude your just awesome playing it this fast by ear, even if its an easy song, you make me want to learn it too! :)
thank you MASTER!
My first thoughts: #1 did they get a new drummer? That's some serious double bass! #2 that rhythm guitar sound is tight! #3 Hetfield can still wail man! #4 Ola, thanks for showing us that we all learn these tunes the same way! Play. Rewind. Play again. Get it wrong. Rewind. Play again. Almost get it. Rewind. Play again. Nail it! Move on to next riff and repeat.
Dude I can't believe how fast you learn that song and you knocked it out of the park you are phenomenal you rock you the man from the fish man take it easy brother
Kill ‘em All tunes aren’t all that hard either.
Love your work ola
I am amazed how quickly Ola nailed this song! Great job and cool guitar btw! And for me this new Metallica song is a rocker - I like it`s rock`n`roll drive and vibe, though I am more accustomed to modern metal music now! \m/
I taught myself this song by teabagging the fretboard. Sounded identical 🤘
Bruhh 🤣🤣☠️☠️
I'm natural down there, so my tone is a bit fuzzy..
5:28 to 5:31 is my favorite riff.
You are funny arent you
@@theTutenstien just funny looking
It was pretty sick though
So what happened?
Fantástico, parabéns 👏👏👏👏👏
Your badass Ola. Love watching your videos.
Ola the king 👑
0:19 I've been waiting for this day..... No I haven't been waiting for this day... 😂😂😂
I Love that way you learned this Song its so quickli he man you are so great
A master peace bro! And the king of wha has spoken !💪🍻
It is a lot like the Kill'em all era Metallica.
Well done Ola!
That guitar tone is like a refined version of the Kill Em' All sound.
@@70mcnevin Sure is
@@70mcnevin Yeah, i thought the same, the slide at the beginning of the song its straight out of Hit the lights
It’s actually a good song. Very old school Metallica. Hetfield has some great guitars. Great video. 🤘🏻
Loved this!
ur sound is beast ola..dang, i love it..
Good job, also the Metallica track has awesome tone
People that rag on Kirk's solos should also remember that James & Lars are there when he records, so it's "approved" by them. If it's good enough for Het, it's good enough for me. I don't want Megadeth solos on everything... Kirk isn't the best but I couldn't imagine Metallica songs without HIS solos.
Dude, watching this video brought back so many memories. I used to sit around listening to Metallica tunes and trying to play them by ear. It's sort of how I learned to play heavy metal. It wasn't the best way to learn but I'm glad I did it.
Sick guitar ola great stuff gunna take a stab a learning this one from watching you play it!
