I feel the same on James. Lars is unpredictable as usual, sometimes he’s tight as hell, sometimes he’s very sloppy. Kirk seems to have problems remembering some leads here and there. He plays wrong notes/chords from time to time still. Rob is rock solid as always.
It's good to see that Lars has obviously been practicing and got himself back in shape. He had reached a sad meme status for a while. And I'm not sure how it's possible, but James Hetfield's voice sounds better than it ever has.
My god could be 1983..I don't know how James kept his voice..Lars is definitely back and out of his downward spiral as a drummer...James looks sober and super healthy-
@@michelmeijer yet on Kimmel Lar’s drums were so loud on Master of Puppets that they overpowered everything else on stage, sound level wise. It was kind of absurd, the ego he has.

Out of all of the 80s rockers, James’ voice has held up better than any of them in any genre. And I’m not even a huge Metallica fan, but it is just undeniable he’s sounds better than the vast majority of singers from his era. He sound fantastic!
I love how well Lars played, and he didn't do any unnecessary fills, he did the same ones in the song for the most part.. and even did one that wasn't, and it was fine.
Wow totally - I have not listened to Metallica in 20 or so years (moved on to heavier less "mainstream" stuff), and definitely prefer their early 90s sound, but this one surprised me, including James doing some lower snippets. Respect.
Most people don't understand how hard this band works. Inbetween European and South American and North American tours and rehearsals for them, and constant random shows here and there, they are writing, rehearsing and recording new material, probably more aggressively than in the 80's and 90's. That's not mentioning the videos and the myriad other things they have going on. And the are all hands-on Family men!
Been listening to these guys since 84. They are like family to me. We are close to the same age and Hetfield going to Downey high school by my house makes them see closer. I’m 57 and they have been going on while my life goes through different seasons.
Holy crap, that was actually impressive! The band is tight, and while I can't say the songwriting is classic-Metallica-memorable, the song still bangs.

I’m not the biggest Metallica fan out of the big 4. But credit where credit is due, this is a. A red hot song and b. An absolutely blistering live version of it. Best they have sounded in years. 🔥
as Metallica grows stronger with time, i can't imagine the fun to hear and see them doing this in 10 years!! This will be massive and unreal, yet i'm absolutely sure they'll go for it with a wild joy
There was teases of them in studio for a few weeks/months before hand and they said they had a special announcement coming up and the announcement ended up being Hardwired. This record was complete silence then bam! New song.
Awesome version! How the bass is rollin’ … how James’ voice sounds … really great performance. I am so much looking forward to see the “boyz” live again. 🤘💀🤘
Howard's audio mix is always legendary but it's more interesting to see how the band's live arrangement of the new song is evolving. if you wanna get critical, you can tell that it's not yet perfect *("we know you know how to play the old stuff")* but it's already extremely tight. this band is effortlessly tight which is exactly what you get after 40 years of touring together.
The whole reason Metallica is big is just the chemistry between all of them as a whole(and it is amazing). I'd just love to hear an instrumental album of just James
