This is with a stock gen 2 coyote eventually I will build the block to really see what this D1X can do the vmp gen 3 is no joke I’m not knocking it makes great tq down low.
I concur, should've compared VMP Gen 3 to a D-1X Procharger to be fair. And because the power band of centrifugal superchargers are linear, it allows you to put the power down more effectively compared to a positive displacement blower that make instant torque, causing traction issues off the line. D-1X Procharger also doesn't generate as much heat as positive displacement blower (heat soak), and doesn't have as much as parasitic HP/TQ loss as a positive displacement blower.
The tvs doesn't make that much heat when you have a proper cooling system. The vmp blowers are very efficient they aren't these heat soaking things people try to act like they are. Tvs are awesome for street cars daily or otherwise. It just depends on how you want your power curve and which look and sound you like best.
Stomp at 40 in second gear should get you sideways with those instant TQ numbers, especially w/o dragradials.Maybe clutch slipping.I,d think you would need a McLeod upgrade with that weight and that much additional power.

Oh man..seriously thinking of a GEN3 2.65 kit as a replacement for my stock GT500.....very impressive for a stock high mileage coyote...700+ hp..just wow!
Good morning! Loki and Odin are two kit configurations of the same Odin supercharger for different horsepower goals. Loki being the simpler of the two kits for lower goals and Odin being the kit configured for folks who plan on turning the car up once it's supercharged. Gen3R is a rear feed blow-down supercharger similar to the factory superchargers utilized on GT500s and Cobras that we offer as a upgrade for those vehicles, as well as a Roush upgrade, and standalone kit for '11-'17 Coyote platforms. 3100X is definitely coming, as the rotor set was announced this past week at SEMA. Stay tuned for more information on that.
Looking at the chart @ 12:18 , wouldn't swapping a smaller pulley on the gen2(72mm or 79mm) create more boost and create the HP numbers of the gen3 with (88mm/12psi) combo?
Sort of but it would be a vicious cycle... 79mm isn't worth much, only 1psi, go too small and you need more octane. A 72mm would make 14-15psi and require higher octane to make the same power as a gen3. The more efficient blower still wins.
I like what you guys do at vmp but when shopping for a supercharger i dont understand your site why ask if i want this and that why not just give a complete kit thats already build directly from you guys?
With the pro charger set up, did you ever replace oil pump gears? Thinking about going with a Paxton on my BOSS. What have you learned on wether to replace them or not? Will you go to upgraded oil pump gears with the root blower?
I'm a turbo guy forsure and my car will stay turbo 4th gen bodys and turbos are the best lol but after i drove my buddy's 830whp 13' caddy cts v coupe it changed my life and and my ol lady loved it to so her 09 G8 gxp got the LSA blower swap with jokerz chaos port job and BTR cam & valve train treatment,E85 and enough fuel pump and injectors to support 1000+whp but it's still a stock bottom end ls3 and my wife has been daily driving now for 4 months so we stopped at 640whp its pretty damn mean 4000 pound hot rod even with the baby soft tune. Hey i have an 11 5.0 with Built Boss motor and Gen3r 79mm pulley, vmp tune, e85. Car drives great, but just started occasionally stalling and when i go to start it up it will stall again unless i give it throttle, then its fine and drives great. It happens intermittently and just stalls and when i try and start it up it stalls again unless i give it throttle. Then all of a sudden it's fine and no problems, but after a while or maybe a few days it does same thing again. Put brand new plugs in and it still does it intermittently..I cant figure it out. What you think it is. Is it in the current vmp tune or what. Thanks
Hey Maximus. Tunes don't change over time, so if it was fine before but is having issues now, that wouldn't be tune related. Our recommendation would be to shoot over an email in your tuning ticket to see about taking a log to assist with identifying what's going on.
Procharger is a blower just a centrifugal blower. Imo yes the tvs is better but the vmp stuff is very good some other cars don't have tvs superchargers this awesome for theor platform. Procbarger can make good power but by nature the torque will be much less as boost builds with rpm...just the nature of the beast. I think tvs is better for a street car but everyone likes different things.
Thanks for the question! Then Gen3 and subsequent Gen3R actually do not fit on the '18+ Mustang GT due to clearance with the direct injection components that were added on the '18 and up Coyote engines. It was the reason behind the creation of the Odin supercharger and the Odin and Loki kits. Both of these kits could be installed on the car with no additional modifications and do quite well on their own.
Seeing David running the VMP was awesome, Im waiting for the 2018 GT Gen3 kit. Im in California, may need to ship the car out to you guys tho...coming in the next few months right? Im ready when you guys are.
Hey VMP I am planning on ordering a Gen 2 r kit through LMR. When ordering through a re-seller is the tune still included? I added on the SCT x4 as I know the kit does not come with the tuner device itself but I am wanting to be sure that you guys still include the tune. Also does the 1 step colder plugs come in that kit? I know on your website you can choose but LMR doesnt offer the choices of plug and add ons you guys have listed. Also just for information purposes I am running through LMR as I found a 6% coupon code and am adding on a fluidyne radiator and billet oil pump gears. Will those need to be accounted for in the tune? Or is there a better format for me to send these questions? Any information would be awesome!
You seem very satisfied with the Gen3 -R what did the Gen-2 R cost different and also did you go with dual spal fan. Bring it to the track to see what numbers different between the to supercharger. I’am following you on UA-cam for wild .Congrats man!
So you made 700 hp on a VIP supercharger and 12 pounds of boost my question is if you gave the Pro Charger a smaller pulley and allowed to build 12 pounds of boost how much horsepower would it make OK the torque won’t be as much but it should be close and the VM pizza great supercharger but still you have the supercharger sitting on top of the motor which will create excessive amount of heat And heat soak kills horsepower
Have you done much turbo>supercharger compounding test work? Might be an option for some of the smaller engined cars that need the bottom, and top, end torque?
So only 13 or 14 degrees timing for procharger at 8 lbs boost, how much timing for the 2 positive displacement superchargers, how much boost on the second positive displacement supercharger? The first had 9 lbs. vs. 8 for the procharger. PLUS... you added more octane for your superchargers so you contaminated the test in your favor. Could have been unbiased and fair but guess that's asking too much 😅
He said the knock sensors were pulling timing. Having that information it’s safe practice to throw in octane booster before you potentially make more power. That’s a responsible tuner. On the gen2 it made like 20 WHP more (which is about right for another 1 psi) but gained over 100 WTQ. There aren’t any tricks going on here behind the scenes to account for that. So the night and day difference here is torque. It gave the customer a huge punch down low and improved overall driveability. He also has another 100 hp to play with. I don’t view this as a controversial test.
Um no lol. It wouldn't. It wasn't just about gaining horsepower it was the overall power curve it's a totally different car with the tvs. The torque is and where the torque is in the power curve is totally different.
The Roush front engine accessory drive components require grinding for the belt drive. We have since designed our own FEAD system that doesn't require grinding. The other potential spot for grinding is a boss in the intake valley for clearance for the lower intake. The intercooler is positioned within the lower intake and takes a good bit of space.
@@VMPPerformanceTV Thank you so very much for taking the time to reply. Looking to add some performance to my 2019, just have made a decision yet. Thanks again!

Any problems with the Boss intake rubbing against the hood? Any figment issues?
R u still running the stock clutch, David?
Did u have stock fuel system?
Whats the pros and cons of a procharger vs pros and cons of a tvs?
Heat... with the procharger one can still do a road course and keep it much cooler. and its everyday driver
The tvs doesn't make that much heat when you have a proper cooling system. The vmp blowers are very efficient they aren't these heat soaking things people try to act like they are. Tvs are awesome for street cars daily or otherwise. It just depends on how you want your power curve and which look and sound you like best.
Is the "VMP Gen2R TVS Stage 2 Kit" considered the "Loki" now?
Great editing on this video 🙌🏻
I wonder how much you sold that procharger?
Stomp at 40 in second gear should get you sideways with those instant TQ numbers, especially w/o dragradials.Maybe clutch slipping.I,d think you would need a McLeod upgrade with that weight and that much additional power.

What's the difference between Loki, Odin, and Gen3R? Is the TVS3100 still happening, or was that rotor pack abandoned?

What other mods are done to the car?
So, It sounds like the gen 3 is a bad ass supercharger. Making me glad I ordered it. I’ll be happy if my 03 cobra get 620.
An 03 cobra with a gen 3 can easily do 650 rwhp on 93 octane. What did your numbers end up being?

What axle ratio is in the car?
How much?
How much to do that ???
Looking at the chart @ 12:18 , wouldn't swapping a smaller pulley on the gen2(72mm or 79mm) create more boost and create the HP numbers of the gen3 with (88mm/12psi) combo?
Sort of but it would be a vicious cycle... 79mm isn't worth much, only 1psi, go too small and you need more octane. A 72mm would make 14-15psi and require higher octane to make the same power as a gen3. The more efficient blower still wins.
Coolest car there is rebecca's drag only 11 5.0 at 1200wheel gen3r.
I like what you guys do at vmp but when shopping for a supercharger i dont understand your site why ask if i want this and that why not just give a complete kit thats already build directly from you guys?

I heard comments that your superchargers run cooler than Roush. By how much is the average difference?
Do u wanna sell your boss 302 intake?
With the pro charger set up, did you ever replace oil pump gears? Thinking about going with a Paxton on my BOSS. What have you learned on wether to replace them or not? Will you go to upgraded oil pump gears with the root blower?
At this power level they are not needed.
Built motor coming this winter
Is VMP Ford only?
So you guys are trusting the gen 1 motor for 700, 12 psi is about the max right?
yes!!
Mine is pushing 750 rwhp still going strong
People were rocking 700 RWHP on 03-04 Cobras for years and years before they miles started catching up with them.
@@Josh-hr5mc 03 cobra had a stronger bottom end than a gen 1 coyote though. 03 cobras can do 800-1000 rwhp depending on the setup and if it's a blower or a turbo.
an overlay off the 3 graf would have been nice, other then that ,the video is nicely setup,

Man its been 20 years since I've got another mustang gt. Got 2013 2 months ago. Now looking for parts to start my fun. Just hope I can find some cheap ways to make my car faster. Its a gt but has glass top. So not to sure about how to go about it. Or whats out there as a good starting point have Roush c-air intake and exhaust. But stock auto car.
Any idea on when you will release one for a 18/19?

I have an ls1 camaro and wanted to go procharger, would a blower really be that much more powerful?
Procharger is a blower just a centrifugal blower. Imo yes the tvs is better but the vmp stuff is very good some other cars don't have tvs superchargers this awesome for theor platform. Procbarger can make good power but by nature the torque will be much less as boost builds with rpm...just the nature of the beast. I think tvs is better for a street car but everyone likes different things.
If i got a gen 3 on my 2018 gt would i need to upgrade anything else on my car or would the gen 3 be fine on its own
Thanks for the question!
Looking to install the Gen II-R Stage 1 on my 2013 next month. Curious how it will respond to the altitude in Denver and 91 octane fuel?

@@VMPPerformanceTV Thanks...that's what I was thinking. Will be placing an order in a few weeks...will talk to the tech when I place the order.
Sorry if I missed it, but what fuel was being used? I'm guessing with 12 psi, and 700+ it was E85.

UPDATE: I Bought a supercharger from VMP! Cant wait to start the build this weekend.

They're very efficient blowers with proper cooling system they do fine. At 12 psi it's barely even working it isn't gonna heat soak much.
It's the biggest pulley they make for the tvs it did 12 psi because it is larger and more efficient.
Have you done much turbo>supercharger compounding test work? Might be an option for some of the smaller engined cars that need the bottom, and top, end torque?
@thatdudeinblue
You look like an amish guy that traded in the horse carriage for a stang
you guys should make one for a Polaris Slingshot! :)
Procharger has one.
Decrease pulley size on the procharger would have achieved the highest outcome 750ish hp around 502 ft tq
Um no lol. It wouldn't. It wasn't just about gaining horsepower it was the overall power curve it's a totally different car with the tvs. The torque is and where the torque is in the power curve is totally different.
Kind of turned me off when he started grinding parts off the factory motor. Can you explain what and why?
The Roush front engine accessory drive components require grinding for the belt drive. We have since designed our own FEAD system that doesn't require grinding. The other potential spot for grinding is a boss in the intake valley for clearance for the lower intake. The intercooler is positioned within the lower intake and takes a good bit of space.

Debating between a procharger or a vmp supercharger for my 2015 mustang gt. I really like how the power comes instantly with a supercharger rather than high rpms like the procharger.
There is no comparison to the vmp product, from fitment, to service, to custom tuning, you will not be disappointed.
Look at Richard Holdner's videos about this topic. If. You can hook up, then get the vmp. Prochargers are better suited to traction limited cars like fwd.

@@jreydelacruz ... + Yeah - it's like asking why GM, Chrysler ...can't answer the simpler questions.. Bigger Displacement = torque, Better air flow Efficiency/management = Hp. Internal combustion engines are limited by the nature of their fuel/ignition management.
