Yes, you my boy blue. I feel your pain but atleast your car hasn't been at the shop for 2 months like mine has. That is a weird little misfire though, coils next I suppose. You will figure it out. Keep up the videos. Beware of jaws
I thought you said you did the new o2 sensors a month ago, my b, I figured they might’ve just burnt out again. If you just did them a few days ago they are probably fine, but on the other hand we have burnt brand new ones out in a couple days from womping on it too much.. had to get spacers to stop that from happening
Hey Derek! Add me on Facebook bro! My Facebook name is Drake Holbrook. You’ll see my Black 3V with “Roses Are Red, Violets Are Blue, I Love My Mustang More Than You” as my profile picture. I sent in pictures of her for you to rate. Plz start doing more of those videos! 🙏✌️👌
Easy way to tell which cylinder is misfiring ls let it warm up for a couple minutes and get a laser thermal gun to each individual runner on the headers and the one misfiring is gonna be the coldest one.
I had the same issue on my 3v fresh oem motorcrafts still wasnt happy went to accel coilpacks and she has been idling great and no misfires also wasnt throwing any cel codes for missfire but had a miss
Step 1 take off the positive cable off the battery and let the car reset itself Step 2 it could be a fuel filter for a fuel pump Step 3 mass flow air sensor Step 4 put some dry heat liquid in the tank you may have water in it
So basically you dont read your comments. Why not unplug the coil packs and test before you went a bought spark plugs like alot of people suggested. Gotta keep that content coming i guess.
Its impossible to UNHOOK THE DAMN COIL PACKS WHILE THE CAR IS RUNNING BECAUSE CYL 7 and 8 ARE COVERED BY THE INTAKE! INTAKE HAS TO STAY ON BECAUSE OF THE MAF SENSOR! I could barley get my hands in there with the intake OFF!
Seriously.... coil pack on the passenger side... bank 1 is the passenger side and your bank 1 o2 is reading a afr thats not right more than likely rich w the misfire
I'll say it again.. because u have the off road xpipe. The o2 sensors are fine, they are reading correctly. But in order to get them to stop throwing a code you need to put some o2 sensor spacers on there. It's cheap and easy to do man. Worth a try for sure.
This might not be related Derek, but another key thing that will make your engine last a lot longer is to run e85. I know you guys may not have e85 gas stations near you, but pushing 700+whp on a stock Gen1 on pump gas/octane booster is not smart. A return style fuel system with some e85 will keep Blucifer running longer and less prone to detonation. 💪💯
Those plugs didn't look too bad; you gotta check them with a gap measuring tool, and a multimeter. Conductive anti-seize is also a good thing. If the electrodes look degraded, then maybe they could be an issue... it also helps to gently clean them with some electrical contact cleaner to get a better look at them. The coil packs, you can use a multimeter to check them as well. If you get a code indicating a particular cylinder misfire, replacing the coil pack in question is a good step to take if the spark plug looks okay. make sure you apply dielectric grease appropriately. It could also be obstructed fuel injectors, and/or a ruptured intake manifold gasket (less likely given the recent blower install).
Hope you get it fixed bro I bet it’s the coil packs my mustang had the same problem sounded the same and everything I changed the coil packs and it ran perfect
Yeah Bro I'm a Mechanic that owns a 2012 Mustang and yeah that's the 1st thing I'd would start out with spark plugs, the coils, injectors and mass air flow sensor.
Plugs looked like they were burning the perfect mixture, def think its a coil after seeing the old plugs. Usually plugs covered in all black carbon are fouled and brown means its getting the correct mixture. You'll get it bro, dont worry
its like as soon as i get a misfire all these videos pop up in my feed lmao, im thinking either fuel filter or bad gas in my case because vp octane booster seems to clear it up
Some OBDII scanners will tell you exactly how many times each cylinder has misfired in a recent time frame, I had a misfire which wasn't constant so it wasn't throwing a code, but I figured out which coil pack it was using a fancy scanner. I rented it from Autozone for free, just an idea
So what if you break the tab on the coil connector ? Yes, I broke one, it was extremely brittle. It has two wires but everyone o e has the three wire connector. How does that work ???
I would say do a compression test just to make sure one cylinder or bank is off from other cylinders, if there is an issue, you will have to do a cylinder leakage test to further diagnose where you are losing compression from if not, you can do a cylinder power balance test which will be hard with cylinder 7/8 but at least you can diagnose 1-6 first and see if you have any issues there. You can also check resistance between each coil pack to make sure you don’t have an open or high resistance.
Orange on the plugs is from the boostane. Whats the wideband reading? Could be a failing pump or boostapump, You can rotate your coil packs, since you have the blower..move the coils that are hard to get to the front, after you've tested the coils on the front cylinders, could be vacuum leak, could be a sticking injector, could be a bad wire, would suggest pulling a log or 2 and looking it over and seeing whats going on with the fuel before driving it just incase, but it's hard to say without just doing some trial and error hopefully nothing internally. You should know enough people in the RVA area to give you a hand, if not I'm local and can help out.
A mismatch of o2 readings is not normally a concern unless it gets too wide. I think you showed a vent filter in an earlier post. Modern EEC systems with mass air are "closed systems" therefore any external air entering from a vent, loose dipstick, loose air intake clamp etc. can cause both less air going through the mass air sensor but less entering one of the banks (like a loose dipstick or valve cover vent). If it isn't missing on hard throttle, it probably not a coil since coils normally fail on load but when it to cars, all things are possible. Again, a Ford store has much more equipment to weed out these kind of problems. Be warned, unless you have a Technician friend at a dealership, they likely won't want to mess with a performance car they didn't setup.
When I had a bad coil on my ‘12 gt it threw a code for the #1 cylinder misfiring in your case I believe it’s something else and not the coil packs a data log is probably the best bet to see what’s going on
Question, is it smart for me to change my coilpack as a preventative maintenance? Or should i stay with stock ones since i dont feel anything weird on car yet
I had a check engine light and misfires on my 5.0 when I first got it. Mine was a very weird fix: crank relearn with my SCT tuner. Try it, it takes 5 minutes. It might fix it.
Hey derekbaranproductions I slick have a same problem with mine but not sure yet what’s wrong with it. It’s misfiring. The codes coming up are P0300 and P0308. Cylinder 8 is still pretty much new and the others I replaced this year on the driver side and the pass side replaced last year with rust on them any ideas??? 2008 mustang gt /cs 190k miles
I would have done coil packs or at least checked them before plugs....random misfire or a certain cylinder? You definitely need to go through the whole check list.....Could be something really simple like a Crankshaft position sensor....You're running boost....forget NGK and throw Ford performance colder plugs in.....What mods have you done just before the CEL? Clutch? You need to do a relearn on stock tune if so......
It’s not that it won’t work but the iridium tips are easy to break off. They have feeler gauges that can adjust the gap without making contact with the firing tip. Hope you get the issue solved soon. Looking forward to the resolution video.
Bro my mustang has been having problems for like 2 weeks now and I don’t know what to do it’s the speed domitor sometimes when I’m going 65 it shows I go like 30 and I still can’t figure it out
Okay first you are not supposed to gap platinum, double platinum or iridium plugs as it will damage them 2nd option is if you have a sensor 1 either bank o2 sensor fault it can cause a misfire as I had that happen with mine
My mechanic always says that in spark plugs there’s a wire that’s as thin as a hair, and any little impact can crack it. So just do the coils and go from there
If you're taking the car in Derek, see if they can get them to check your fuel injectors. There may be a problem with one of them too . Couldn't hurt! Good luck. 😎👍
That poor motor, eventually that thing is gonna pop pushing 700+ on gen1 sbe. I’d love to see him put a built motor and trans in this thing and turn up the boost.
If you hear and feel a misfire, you could have easily taken it to your local Ford store and their testers can find the misfire cyl. in real time. Would save you a bunch of time.
I put those same spark plugs and it didn’t take the misfires away the people at autozone told me the plugs were already gapped I had to take the car to the Ford dealership they put OEM spark plugs misfire went away
I'm getting misfire code p300 from changing my clutch flywheel and I reset the crank position sensor and it's still popping this code. Does anyone know if this is bc of the McLeod flywheel being not balanced and if I buy a new flywheel might thus solve the problem?
Check the rubber boots on the coil packs.Squeeze the rubber boots, if u have cracks that's the problem. They're rebuilt kits for them. So u do have to buy new coil packs.

Check your dms on Instagram from 5LHorse. I messaged you about it. I had a similar problem.

ok we get it you make 700 wheel
Let him flex a little, he's upset
Yeah you hater
Should have just unplugged each coil 1 at a time and you would have found out its just a coil pack thats bad. Rookie mistake but your learning ✌
He literally explained why he couldn’t do that bruh
Is the coil pack I had the same problem before and it got fix try it bro

what really sucks about missfires is that there is so many possibilities
I’ve been mowing as many lawns as possible so I can buy a old mustang for my channel
An old mustang not a
Good luck!
Get them 13/14s with a gen 2 swap get the best looks with the better engine for boost!

11 to early 14 mainly trucks had an issue with the intake valves wearing down (sunken valve) issue. Causing low compression misfire
Yikes!! I can’t help but I hope you can fix it!
Thank you boss!
