How to pitch audio with MIDI in Cakewalk by Bandlab

- Found a way to pitch correct almost like with Melodyne. Best part, its using a free VST. I really think the final output will be good if the original audio is of great quality. Hope you will find this video useful.

This only works because you already have Melodyne installed and Cakewalk is using ARA2 to convert in the background. The Audio to MIDI will not work without Melodyne, even though it looks as if you don't need Melodyne.

The Audio to MIDI conversion was removed in the later versions of Melodyne. If you still have version 4, awesome..! It will work.
Otherwise refer the video specified in the comment.
If in some case, you were able to convert with the newer free Melodyne Addon, please let us know.
@@adk_studios No, it wasn't. If you have Melodyne Essential, it doesn't do Audio-to-MIDI anymore. You need at least Assistant and above for that.
And once again, a relatively obscure indian youtuber saves my life with a tutorial.
Ha! Just noticed that dragging an audio clip to an instrument track converts it to MIDI - that really opens things up! 👍

Yea. I completely forgot to play around witht he depth and speed parameters of the plugin.
Its not that often I do live audio recording.

By the way, forgot to mention that you need Melodyne installed for audio-to-MIDI conversion.
It does come with Cakewalk as an addon and can be installed through Bandlab Assistant. However we need to purchase a license to edit with it. Or else it will stay there as "Melodyne Player" which is what Celemony calls it.
Also, you can make this effect less obvious by playing around with 'Depth' and 'Speed' (preferably lower them) in the automatic tuning section of Mautopitch.
So converting Audio to MIDI requires Melodyne to be purchased or can it be done through the "Melodyne Player"?

No.
When we install Cakewalk, Melodyne can also be installed as an addon. That is the player version.
If you haven't already, you can do that in Bandlab Assistant

Hello! I am completely new to Cakewalk, so I don't know if I am doing something terribly wrong, but when I click "Enable Midi Input," I cannot get anything to show up in the midi output besides New Drum Map. I have tried clicking Enable Midi Input a couple times, but there has been no change. Is there something that I have overlooked?
I'm not quite quite getting the issue you are facing.
I think you have it the other way. Like, I think you should "Enable MIDI output" not input.

Where you converted polyphonic guitar audio, was that only possible because you had Melodyne Editor or Studio installed?
Melodyne comes as a free addon in Cakewalk by Bandlab. I have that installed.
But I would have to activate it if I need to edit with it, which I didn't. But can still use it as 'Melodyne Player' which makes it quite unusable on its own. But I read somewhere that its Melodyne which actually does the MIDI extraction.
Thank you, good way. I drop guitar audio from browser in midi track and not form melody or chords, only as from the audio track drop and can chosose options to automatic, melody etc.

My first original song was made in FL studio back in 2018. Didn't know about music theory that time so i just played all white keys. Because of that I looked down on the C Major scale
Until I heard Shelter the day after New year 2021
Shelter is an amazing song. Porter Robinson put a lot of heart into it with Madeon.

Graillon does have both the requirements.
Preserve formants and MIDI input.
But, it seems like MIDI input only works in full version

@@adk_studios I have an issue with my kontakt instrument also Tforce Alpha tracks in cakewalk. When I create 2 or more tracks of the above vsts and enter midi only in one of the track, the vst instrument in the 2nd track also gives audio output when pressing play, while there is no midi in 2nd track(it plays the midi of the first track). I had to automate volume in the 2nd track and bring it to zero so that it doesn't play the midi of the 1st track . Is there other solution to this? 🥺
The other track is probably taking in MIDI input from the track with MIDI.
Just like I directed the MIDI to Mautopitch in this video, you can choose the inputs too by clicking 'i'.
See if it's taking any undesired input.
Also, I have observed some inconsistency with duplicating some tracks. Add the instrument instead of duplicating if the problem doesn't get fixed.

Hey, I'm currently having trouble trying to drag my audio into my new track like you did in 0:40 but it doesn't seem to want to work 🥲
I think the latest update of Melodyne free player that we get along with CbB has removed the capability to do this.
So panda eyes does this to make his voice soooo manly....

That is not part of the plugin UI. Its part of the DAW.
That is, it depends on the DAW what you see there & in CbB, its like that.

@Andre You have to enable MIDI input in Mautopitch. You can see that option in the VST button on top of the plugin window.
how can I correct the pitch on a midi sound to match the vocal track? I don't want to change the pitch on the vocal.. I want for example to add a bass guitar, but the vocal recording is out of tune..it's off by a few micro intervals
You can use any tuning plugin for that.
Mautopitch and Graillon are two free ones

What I did in this video is route the MIDI to the FX plugin. So try searching this in youtube

Do you know if something like MPE is possible on Cakewalk (something similar to Ableton MPE ). Would be easier to work with 808 glides etc.

Depends on the application.
I have used that for main vocals.
This is what I do when I'm on a creative speed run. & when the harmonies take a back seat to the main vocal.
If the singer is pretty talented, I think this is enough for the minute adjustments. If the vocal needs considerable amount of correction, then Newton.

It will only work until version 4 (I think) of Melodyne

No tool like that is available.
But there are free plugins that can do this.
TX16Wx.
GTune.
But, I would say I got the most accurate results by using a tuning app in phone (vocal pitch) and playing the sample (mostly in a higher C note, lower pitch might be too low in volume).
For MIDI conversion Melodyne is important to install???

Celemony removed a key feature from Melodyne player (which we get for free with CbB) which made this possible.
I wish you’d say key and not scale.
