About a million years ago (well, OK, really 45 - 50 or so) I was a big fan of Linda Ronstadt, and this was one of my very favorite of her songs. I stumbled across this video on UA-cam and was moved to add it to my requests. I believe the video is from 1970, and I think I even remember seeing this performance on TV way back when. I have had fun requesting a few older videos for you to react to, and I am glad you have liked them. Something different from the young girls, for a change. I will continue to search for more variety, but I am sure I will also end up requesting Kendra and Raina and Jadyn and Sina, etc, etc, also.
And, once again: HAPPY BIRTHDAY, young man!

there's a utube of her doing this song actually live, without the strings - much better - midnight special I think. Real music back then ( mostly ) no computer controlled voices....

I am no expert but I bet all that auto tune stuff had something to do with the lack of uniqueness in today's artists. Saying that there was no one like Linda Ronstadt or Karen Carpenter so it would be hard to think there were any that could compare todag

I love 💕 this song , it’s one of my favorites.. her politics not so much , she never married and she dated former California Governor Jerry Brown and he was married.

Linda Ronstadt the only country singer who really wasn't one.
Interesting, why do you say she wasn't a country singer? Because she was very much so. Even in this performance you can hear it in her voice versus the actual accompaniment. I think she a couple of country albums under her belt. Silver Threads and Golden Needles, Love is a Rose, It Don't Matter Anymore (Buddy Holly cover). And i think the true testament is having Emmylou Harris & Dolly Parton joining up w her to form "Trio", it can't get much more country than that.
For a country singer, she certainly nailed opera in Pirates of Penzance. Her "Poor Wandering One" is amazing.
She could nail ANY genre.
