The pure and powerful voice of an angel, an American treasure, love you Linda.
If this is the first you have listened to Linda you have missed out on a lifetime of beautiful singing. She is especially Charming in her Spanish/Mexicana recordings in which she powerfully testifies to her 1/2 Mexican ethnic heritage ( her mother ).
She was a most delightful performer with an incomparable voice. Yes Simplicity was her strong suit.
Linda Ronstadt identifies as Mexican American! Mexicans are primarily of Native American and European ancestry. All of "that" falls under the Mexican descent umbrella. Moreover, Mexican Americans do not tend to separate all of their European ancestors into categories. We simply say that we are Mexican American or Chicana/o.

She did some traditional Mexican music in the 90’s that will amaze you. Greatest female voice of our time in my opinion. First female to fill arenas in the 70’s. She's a MONSTER! Could out-sing any man or woman in the known universe, yesterday and today. 20 studio albums, 11 Grammys, and the first female vocalist to fill stadiums! She has sung it all from country to pop to rock to blues to jazz, Spanish language, and even opera. Dig in my friend. She is not a period piece as you suggest, she is a once-in-a-century artist! Are you?
She is such a talented person, her voice is so powerful... I love listening to her sing, and now with Parkinson's she gets to have a different life...I was diagnosed with Parkinson's 3 years ago...My life is so different than what i had planned that's for sure.

Linda was the '70s Queen of Rock. In '77 she gross (in today's dollars) almost a quarter of billion dollars. How can you never have heard of her????

Linda Ronstadt is as good as it gets. The first female singer to have 5 platinum albums in a row, which she did in the 70's. Without Linda, there may never have been the Eagles. As her backup band, she helped launch their group by recording "Desperado", which was a big hit. And for the Eagles, the rest is history. I used to listen to her songs for hours. She is my all time favorite singer (with Angelina Jordan), and is maybe the greatest crossover pop/country singer ever. It's difficult to believe, with all the success she had, that Linda only had one #1 record. Saw her at the Baltimore Civic Center in the 70s. She really blew me away. Loved her so much I paid to go see her again.
Have loved Linda since she was in The Stone Ponies back in the 1960s and my 4 older sisters watched summer variety shows. 💞✌🙋

Thank you Frank.. guess what... She recorded a Mariachi musi album in 1988. Titled "Canciones de mi Pade" (my Dad's Songs) her dad was mexican nd he was always listening to mariachi. This is one of the songs she recorded "La Cigarra" ua-cam.com/video/dX8kNnk0jfw/v-deo.html

She was able to sing; Rock, Country, Jazz, Big Bang, Ballads, Mariachi and Ranchera. And she sang in English and Spanish. Can Beyonce, Madonna, Katy Perry, Tyler Swift, Lizzo, Elli Bush. I don't think so. Music is not like it used to be.

At this point she never played to less than 20,000 people. It was not a small stage. Lol.
There has always been a skipping of Linda from many music outlets or radio stations and shows, likely to make Janis, Pat and others seem as queens over Linda, whom everyone came to find out was Mexican--that is likely why. Linda was the first female rock superstar, therefore The queen of Rock. American Idol, The Voice, etc., when they had "Rock Week" or anything "Rock," Linda was skipped on their shows, always I believe.
