A once in a generation, if not lifetime voice. No-one could touch Linda vocally throughout her career
Absolutely.
A favorite of mine also ever since I first heard her in 1972 . What range going from power vocal to a dreamy ballad ,this is a Roy Orbison composition. Thanks Lauren .
Not just absolutely talented but absolutely perfect too, she really knew how to sing.
The last word of the song "Bayou" may be the most beautiful thing ive ever heard. Hell with generations, she is my favorite. Linda 😍
Linda slips seamlessly between multiple genres. It doesn't matter if it's rock, country, jazz, mariachi, folk or big band. She's the queen of power and clarity. Her live performances are just as good as when she's in the studio
You forgot comic opera, The Pirates of Penzance.
Such a lovely song...One of my favourite songs since I first heard it...40 years ago. Thank you for your presentation...brings back tender memories.
Lauren, when Linda sings she too makes me cry on so many of her songs. She can make me cry tears of happiness and sadness at the same time!, just WOW! She has the uncanny ability to make you feel her emotions through her songs and voice. She is beyond doubt the greatest singer of my generation, i believe she has no equal.
IMO, The greatest female vocalist of her generation - absolutely breathtaking, not just her voice but her service of the song, you dont hear her using a song to show off her runs, the song is always king
I love linda Ronstadt one of the greatest voice of all time!!
Certainly the greatest voice of her generation, and maybe ever
I absolutely agree. There is nothing she can't do. Her command of her voice is astonishing. Plus, not that it matters, but she was so beautiful. Those eyes 😍
It also helps that she is probably the best mezzo-soprano ever to lend her voice to popular music.
Perfection. I've had a crush on her, since seeing her on one of my oldest sister's records
Hi Lauren. Linda Ronstadt has such a clear, open, and often bold yet sweet voice that only a few have, and had. I know I can't share with you her many works, as you already know.
"I'm going BACK some day.." Lauen, did you hear the symbol crash at the same time!
This is a great song in many ways. Very well pitched, and Linda really expresses herself in this performance, as I think you see also. Linda really has a great control of her voice. She can really get into the music.
It's not difficult! She's HERSELF, In her singing. It's a gift; a privilege in a way for some. She can express herself openly, while many have difficulty doing so, out of low self-esteem mostly. For Linda, it's natural for her. It's not a struggle. Those that are trying to figure out HOW she does it, is missing the point. I can relate. I know how being on the spotlight effects one's talent. Ask me!
My advice to others... Relax. Just be natural. Don't worry about what others think. Just be you. THEN, your talent will come out.
If you have not seen it yet, there is a very adorable version of this song on youtube where Linda is the guest star on The Muppet Show. Check it out.
It really is precious. Linda in the bayou with the chirping of the muppets in the background.
Linda has the most beautiful (female) voice on the planet. In my opinion, there are few who can even come close to the beautiful blend of sweetness and power that she can project. She opens her mouth and pure heaven pours forth. 🌺✌️
Linda's cover of this song is a delight! You should react to the original Roy Orbison version. Roy had an AWESOME singing voice back in the day.
She is the best of all time for me. Incredible talent
Such a beautiful song and an amazing cover by Linda. I'd love to hear you react to Roy Orbison's original - he had the most amazing voice!
Iconic voice of an Angle! I love her native music. 😎👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏❤️
Linda is one of the best to ever do it.
One of her best covers - an oldie by Roy Orbison, she did buddy holly too
No one learns to sing like Linda or Whitney. It's a gift you're born with!!
¡Viva, Linda! The pride of Tucson, Arizona!
she was expert in interpretation of songs, when to hold back, when to cut loose, when to wait for the climax of the song ...unlike many screaming divas showing off all through the song. The breath control, the vibrato...SHE was about the song, with multiple Grammys, back when Grammys really meant something. notice at the end of the chorus as the notes descend, the volume descends with them, that's musicality, to set up the the mood of the next verse. True expressive music versus noise...
Linda Ronstadt is the artist with the best selling non-English language album in U.S. music history.
In the summer 1977 I Followed Linda Ronstadt 5 NEW ENGLAND STATES to see 6 Concerts with my friends or by myself and made new friends Summer I will never forget.
Nice job - I enjoyed it.
She is the greatest singer of her generation, maybe even the 20th century. She performed a coloratura soprano in "Pirates of Penzance", so this song was very easy for her to hit the higher notes.
Linda Ronstadt's Hall of fame induction was in 2014.
Linda's gorgeous singing on Paul Simon's "Under Africa Skies" is such a 2-for-1 bargain... arguably America's finest female vocalist with arguably America's finest songwriter.
my favorite female singer of all time
I love her also
I was privileged enough to have seen her in concert 6 or 7 times around the LA area and one time at Dodger stadium singing the national anthem.....no one, and I mean no one, could sing live like Linda...I always joke that lol really stands for Love of Linda...
It breaks my heart ❤ to know Linda can no longer sing due to health issues 💔. Also, please listen to Roy Orbison's original version of this magnificent tune, as well as Linda's awesome cover of Patsy Cline's "Crazy"...
He wrote it with Joe Melson recorded and released it 1961 yay
Linda is covering a Roy Orbison Song of the1960-1970's.
listen to song she did written by Karla Bonoff. Some of her best ballads
The Stone Poneys are so criminally under rated its just not funny. The song Just a Little Bit of Rain from like
1967 is a great little nugget from their first album and a really nice performance by Linda.
One of my favorite female voices of all time. I was sorry to hear that she has Parkinson’s now and is unable to sing anymore. Quite a legacy she has!
if you want to hear the original version, check out "BILLIE HOLIDAY"!!!!!
For another completly different treat listen to Eva Cassidy sing her live version of "Over the Rainbow", you'll never be the same...
I agree with everything you said.
Linda Ronstadt was an amazing artist. Talk about total control of her voice! Amazing. Second is Pat Benatar.
Check out Roy Orbison singing this same song
Linda sang every genres her vocal control is always right on perfect pitch it’s.natural talent her dad sang mariachi music
BILLIE HOLIDAY DID THIS TUNE FIRST!!!
@@gregoryclemen1870 actually Roy Orbison and Joe Melson wrote it Roy recorded it in 1961 Billie Holliday released it in 1974
@@barbaracampbell9907 , BILLIE HOLIDAY , passed away in 1959, her singing career started in the late 30's, so how could she have released the tune when she had been "GONE" 15 years, unless the record company who had the rights to her music released it in 1974, so when did she do that tune?????. I tried to find that out, and "U-TUBE" took me in circles.. music "PIRACY" was a common practice back in those days, especially with black artists!!!!
@@gregoryclemen1870 Orbison wrote it
@@barbaracampbell9907 ,IT IS NOT ADDING UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
She is right up there at the top for me right along with vintage Barbra Streisand Barbara did not take as good of care with her voice as Linda did but vintage Barbara is right up there with Linda for me if you have not done it and I can’t see that you did you should react to Streisand doing Evergreen and there’s a video that shows her actually singing it in the recording studio during the movie and it is phenomenal phenomenal phenomenal
Have you ever listened to Linda sing in Spanish? Please check out "la cigarria"
Linda is the best in Spanish too
She's an OMG vocalist. She is a prolific artist. She recorded 20+ albums, won a dozen Grammys, and was the first female act to sell out stadiums. Linda could sing circles around anyone, man or woman! She covered a lot of songs and stole every one of them, the originals just do not stand up. Her live versions are often better than the originals! Rock, pop, country, big-band, OPERA, and songs in Spanish.
Awesome reaction and analysis! Want to hear her sing OPERA? "Poor Wandering One" INSANE!!!
If you enjoy Linda Ronstadt, then consider listening to her cover of Gary White's song, "Long, Long Time".

Still cry when I listen to that song.
@@janetmoran1495: LR did it in 2 takes. She thought the first take was good enough, but the producer wanted another take, just in case.
Lately, I've been watching live performances by Sohyang:

and a tip of the hat to legendary songwriter Roy Orbison
You should listen to Roy Orbison's original version of this song.
BILLIE HOLIDAY DID THIS TUNE FIRST!!!!
♥️
Hye ...please react to Ziana Zain - kemelut di muara kasih
great job singing Roy Orbison's song
"BILLIE HOLIDAY DID THIS TUNE BEFORE ROY ORBISON DID IT!!!!
Where you been? It's A Roy Orbison tune...give him a listen, then explain that phenomenon, Coach!
Educate they self!
Love Linda Would love for you to react to Donna Summer singing last dance October 2011 her voice was better than ever she would pass away may 2012 from lung cancer. Donna refused to allow anyone to know if she was sick when she was filming this you have got to hear her voice. It got better with age She was headlighting in Vegas David Foster and friends

Hello Lauren, I enjoyed your reaction. Linda was so great! It's terrible that her affliction tears up her singing now.
So you like oldies? Sometimes with modern instrumentation? Perhaps you haven't heard this one...sung *this* way:
Emmylou Harris singing "Barbara Allen" on the film "Songcatcher:"

Im way drunk but I love this song.
Hmm really? Let’s see!
Such a great singer, so sad that Linda had to stop singing when she developed the degenerative condition later determined to be progressive supranuclear palsy in 2011.
Try to react Gigi de lana through the fire x piano in the dark
We place too much value on the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame [for profit nonsense]. There are people inducted in that Hall that are not worthy of shining Linda's shoes or cleaning her toilet for her.
Fun fact - the band you hear on this track BECAME THE EAGLES
