I spent 31 years of my adult life wearing a US Army uniform. I spent the majority of that 31 years living in foreign countries constantly being asked about America's pride and arrogance in flag and country, because, yes, we are fanatic about it. We fight among ourselves, push and shove, and call each other names, and we make stupid decisions a lot of the time, but let some bully from outside the American family push any member of the family, and the wrath of God would descend upon them. I could go on and on...but, don't worry Millie, I'll bet everyone watching this reaction was tearing up also...including this 80 year old man. God bless both of you.
My father spent 3 years in the U.S. navy and another 26 in the U.S. army. He couldn't find a job after college and the navy wanted him to start over as a seaman recruit. The army gave him credit for his 3 years of service during WWII plus 2 years of credit for his 4 years of college. He entered the army as a corporal just in time to be sent to Korea. He also served in Vietnam in 1965-66 and retired out of the Presidio in San Francisco in 1968. I am proud of his service to our country and proud to be his daughter. I miss you, Dad.

i'm an emotional guy when anything that has to do with the Red White and Blue and now it's even harder to listen to this song without shedding a tear for the nation and the man that wrote the song.
I served years before Toby sang this, but, I bet your bottom dollar you say sumthin bad about Toby in front of those troops he preformed for, you'll get a boot in yer ass !
Toby Kieth did 18 USO tours for our troops beginning in 2002. His love for our Country and her military was unlike anything I have ever seen! Thank you for viewing his video! Millions of Americans are devastated by his passing. But we are also forever grateful for him, his music and his love of this Country. Side note: I’m not sure if you ever came across this, but Toby’s dad indeed served in the army, and he also lost his right eye while in there. God bless.!🇺🇸
In 2006, I was in Afghanistan. Toby Keith was supposed to do a concert for us at around 8 pm. He didn't get there until 2 am, he got hung up in Iraq. The place was packed. We all waited for him to come in. It was a great show, all acoustic. He always cared about the troops.
First off troops weren't induced to pay. Be grateful for his love of country *and* for our selfless troops. We owe them a lot. Secondly, the man's been fighting stomach cancer. Why do you have to be a POS about this good patriot? Just wish Toby well, pray for him if you can, and be over and done with hatefulness toward anyone.
@tomk.2601 all he did was profit from troops in wealth and celebrity status, he was told to leave down range and not return because of his inability to perform without being drunk, I was with an outstanding General who was disgusted by his behavior, drunk on stage in front of troops in a country that forbids alcohol, I think we Soldiers who were there know about this idiot.

You and your family are EXACTLY why I joined the United States Air Force in 2004. 18 years later and I’m still wearing the uniform because people like you suffered at the hands of certain extremists.
So sorry for your loss of your aunt. I work in EMS and was there that day and for many days after that. We still go there multiple times every summer for visitors. It's only a mile from the home I grew up in. If I could say one thing about the people who live around the area, they came together to help as much as they could. 73 years old, Vet, and this song still brings a tear to my eye...with pride, not sorrow! And Mrs. Beesley...we in the US and you in the UK share so much history!
Thank you sir for your service and sacrifice. Even though I didn't serve in the military I was raised in the Air Force and come from a family with a long history of military as far back as the American Revolution.
This song does apply to you guys - we honor our special relationship, and you have been with us on the battlefield when it matters. From the USA, we thank you. 🙏
Being "cousins from across the pond" helps explain why you might have empathy for things American. Thank you for posting your reactions to this song, one of my favorites.
I've noticed there is an abundance of this sort of content for the USA and a lack of it for the UK. It's a shame, since I'd like to see more about our cousins. Its kinda self-centered to have our cousins learning about us while we don't bother to return the gesture. Maybe some channels will pop up to fill the void within a year or two.

You may have heard, Toby Keith just passed away this morning at the young age of 62. Came here and was to relive this song and wow you guys made it enjoyable! Cheers
This song always gets me in tears. I remember at my basic training graduation they played Lee Greenwood, God bless the USA and hundreds of new soldiers were in tears. I proudly served my country and if I had it to do all over again I would.
i saw him in Iraq when he did the tour. just a little more context at the time he made tour it was still a very hot zone. he was one of the only preformers to actually go into the country. for that he has my respect. he also didnt just go to big safe bases.
I hear you, retired at the end of '20 after 46+ years serving active, reserve and civil service, 39+ wearing a uniform. Last deployment was spent making sure these guys and gals got home on schedule after their deployments. Crazy long hours, chaotic, and the most fulfilling year I spent in uniform.
Toby Keith is indeed a patriot and I’ve never seen a musician express so much love and respect to those who serve. Saw him live once and after each song, he raised his drink in a toast “This goes to those who serve day and night, whether here or overseas, but more importantly, to those who are no longer with us.” Every. Song. He repeated that toast, as if he dedicated each song and performance to them.
Got to see him performance this live back in September 2021, and even from way up in the stands, it was probably the best version I've heard to date. It was also the first time I heard "Old School" which has become a new favorite since then.
Toby Keith not only did this song for the troops but, has toured on military bases for years in support of our troops. This just happened to be the videos of his shows including this particular song but, he's toured many years with the USO for military members.
Thank you for this reaction! Saw a homeless veteran huddled up against a gas station this past Sunday and literally started crying in the parking lot. He wasn't out holding a sign begging for money, but it absolutely filled me with rage that my country does its veterans such a dishonor when they put their lives on the line. All the soldiers that died at D-Day, men who still hair downy peach fuzz on their cheeks. The lives people sacrificed so that I can sit here in a country of freedom and for the most part peace. We, as humanity, need to remember to love each other at the end of the day. This song and its message: doesn't matter what country you're from, I'd die to defend and protect you and your children. ♥
I’m 15, and when WWIII breaks out, I’ll be about 22, I’ll be proud to fight for America. And if I die…then I’ll die proudly knowing that I’ve died for the greatest country and people in the history of the world. E pluribus Unum. Out of many one. God bless the United States of America. 🇺🇸
In New York Biden kicked out a building full of retired vets so illegal immigrants have a place to stay. They complained about it because it was to run down and demanded better housing
I really enjoy these reaction videos from folks in other countries. Americans are the collective descendants of every other nation. So it's entirely appropriate for folks from every other country to share in the celebration of what's great about America. None of what has been accomplished by this great nation would have been possible if not for the strength, courage and capabilities of our ancestors, almost all of which came from someplace else.
He had written this strictly for his tour of the military bases he was visiting. He hadn't planned on recording it until he was inundated with requests from the service folks who wanted to have a recording. Toby wasn't trying to market it.
Love that you reacted to this. I love this song and it brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it. It’s so wonderful and emotional. Thank you again ❤
As a Army Vet, I want to thank you for your support of the military. It means a lot to me. I have seen to many people who hate the military and automatically have a bad opinion of me when they find out that I served. I means a lot to know that the sacrifice that one of my friends made is appreciated. Thank you both. If you are ever in Tennessee, you will be welcome in my home.
You should give a listen to Lee Greenwood's "God Bless the USA" It's one of the best song ever, Alan Jackson's "Remember when" is also a good song. P.S As of 01 April 2022 y'all are at 105k subscribers. Well done.

I find it interesting that several references in this song were of the sort that Americans would understand, but the terrorists might not: "sucker punch," "lit up your world like the Fourth of July," and descriptions of the Statue of Liberty, Uncle Sam, and Mother Freedom. It seems to be written as a rallying song for Americans, and if our enemies don't understand the threats, that's their problem.
I still remember the moment the second plain hit the tower and the realization set in that we were actually under attack. It’s still so vivid to me and it seems like it happened yesterday. We watched helplessly through our television sets as 3,000 fellow American’s went down with those towers. We became crazed with a rabid kind of hurt and anger and this song capsulated the sense of vengeance and accountability that we craved back then. I joined the military because of it. It warms my heart to see that contagious sense of patriotism overtake you guys as well and yes, I teared up too! 😢😉
I still remember that morning like yesterday coming down the stairs with my son for his breakfast and pregnant with my daughter. I turned on titan and was the plane fly into the tower. Thought we'll don't want to watch this movie. Started changing channels and realized it wasn't a movie it was real. My doctor even called told me to not watch it because me being upset could send me into labor. But I watched every moment

Came across your video after watching tributes to Toby Keith who passed away yesterday, far too young qt only 62. This is my fav Toby Keith song and I absolutely loved the way you both reacted. I could see and feel the respect that you have for us as Americans. The looks on both of your faces are priceless. Your faces light up and you both appear to be proud as if you were Americans yourselves. I watched this several times and your reaction touched me. Thanks for doing this one. Much appreciated...
I had a good friend of mine years ago who was from Britian and he LOVED America. He was really big on history and understood what happened when hundreds of thousands of GI's from the USA went across the English Channel on D Day. The Brits and Americans started out fighting each other about that Independence thing but NOW are the strongest allies on Earth. We have got your back guys and appreciate your friendship more than we can say.
This is my first time watching one of your videos. It just popped up in my feed. As a result, I am crying right along with you. My Daddy is a retired Marine and retired Captain of the National Guard. I remember when this song came out. I burnt it on a CD and decorated it with red and blue stars and gave it to him on Veterans Day. I am so proud to be an American and proud of my Daddy for serving in Vietnam, and Operations Desert Shield & Storm. I am also SO grateful to all the other men and women who selflessly dedicate their lives to ensure we remain free. As well as all of those that paid the ultimate sacrifice. I think it's awesome that yall did this video and took the time to appreciate it! God bless you and God bless the USA!! 🇺🇸
Here's a little back story for you regarding this song. When Toby was asked about it he replied that when 9/11 happened he wrote down his feelings at the time and was also thinking about how his father might have felt. This how the song came about. He performed it for the military members but never had any intentions of actually releasing it publicly as it was very personal to him. A commander at one of the bases told him he had to release it as it was needed. Because of this Toby released it. Ironically when our 4th of July rolled around he was supposed to perform at one of the celebrations that was sponsored by a major TV network here. A well know news anchor who was hosting the show (who interestingly enough was Canadian) asked Toby to remove the line "with a boot up your a$$" from the song. Toby refused and the network rescinded their invitation for him to perform.

Yep, support your vets no matter what freedom loving country you are from because the veterans and their families sacrifice a lot for their countries especially being away from families, but they do it for love of country and freedom.
Rest in Peace Toby Keith. Thank you for your content. The world needs more people who are as diverse and open minded such as you. To be interested in the patriotism of countries other than your own. Unfortunately, as I an writing this comment , I am still in shock and saddened by the loss of Toby Keith who passed away 3 days ago after a long battle with cancer. He will be remembered for this song and many more and as a great human being. ❤️
Toby Keith is one of my very favorites of all times. It's 2023 now and I still love this patriotic song. 9/11 was a horrible day and time for America. The response of our friends around the world was so amazing. You dear sweet kids are precious and your Queen was so gracious . When she had her Royal band play America's National Anthem it was truly heart touching. I'm sorry for the loss of your Queen. God bless
9/11 I was watching the news wondering why the world hated us Americans and were celebrating our tragedy. Then I saw the changing of the guard and the fact that the music had never been altered before. Our Star Spangled Banner began and I collapsed into a chair and began to sob. I then remembered that we aren't alone. Her Majesty reminded me of that.
Always brings tears to my eyes too. I was raised in a Military family - we have lost so many family members that I was not even able to meet. We do love this country.
This came out just before my senior year of high school. I remember pulling up in the parking lot right after it released and a big majority of the student body would have this blasting in their car. I love this song, but it makes me tear up every single time. I'm a U.S. Army vet, and while I got out in Dec. of 1998, a lot of my friends stayed in and re-enlisted. Quite a few went overseas after 9/11. And one of my dearest friends didn't come back, leaving a wife and a 6-month-old baby boy. I had to try to explain what happened on 9/11 to my 7 yr old son. Hard to explain what I was still trying to comprehend myself. 10 years later, he asked for my signature to join the Army. It festered in his mind all those years and he felt he needed to step up. All I can say about being a military family is it's one heck of an emotional roller coaster! Thank you for your service.
Based on your screen name, I'm guessing you're a red head. From a fellow red head and U.S. army brat, thank you so much for your service to our beloved country.
Millie you have the heart of an American. I cry every time too. My dad was a Marine, my uncles scattered in army and marines; cousins in all branches. Friends in several branches. And you are so right- we are one human race fight good vs evil! So we are all connected and when someone messes with one of us it really should be that we all respond.
He wrote this song, and sing this song for the military members. He only played it before military crowds because he wrote it for them. But he been asked by so many of them to please release it please. Finally, after so many people begged for him to release it, he released it to the public and that's why you see so much of the military in the video. It's because he videotaped the concerts what he's saying it for them.
You definitely have to do Ray Charles' version of "America the Beautiful." My dad's a Vietnam vet and it's the only patriotic song that makes him cry. Seeing him tear up always starts me bawling because he says that version is the one that most reminds him of the friends he lost in the war and that it's soulful rendition is beautifully appropriate to respect the lives lost. Just a gorgeous version that will more than likely bring tears to your eyes as well.
This Ray Charles song for America is legendary. He didn't write the song, that was a long, long time ago. Only the Star Spangled Banner is historically more significant than America The Beautiful. Ray Charles rendition is the ultimate epic version.
I started tearing up remember those days when we came together as one nation, under God. I miss those days. Also, prayers up #TobyKeith while he fights his own battle with stomach cancer 🙏🏻😊🇺🇸❤️

@Jonas2024-ru5fh ; The most important thing at this moment is for You to concentrate in Your studies. Try not to waste energy thinking in probable future global conflicts. I think that Mr. Putin's not that dumb to pick a fight with NATO or our Country untill he's totally suicidal. For now enjoy life and don't worry about things that may or may not happen. Take care. Take one day at a time.
@@gruntusmc8922 My studies are great actually! However, Mr. Putin isn’t the real enemy. China is the greatest threat to my and my country’s existence. So thank you, but I will use my energy to be prepared when WWIII does break out. And yes, I will be proud to fight and die for my country. This war is inevitable. I’m not a pessimist, but the world has a history of going to war with itself. China seeks power, and the U.S. is in the way. I have a blessed life, and I am ready to fight for my country to keep it. Thanks though. As I love history, and I love our country, I invest my time in political events on the global scale, WWIII is just another theatre of my studies. It would be foolish of you to not study the possibility of WWIII. Do you think society has evolved since 1945? It hasn’t. Governments can still commit genocide, and war crimes are still committed. I want to be ready just in case this does occur. Turning a blind eye to war doesn’t make its possibilities go away. Hey man, I appreciate your concern for my personal life, but I’m managing just fine. I’m a straight A student, who can think for himself, and come to logical conclusions. Take care buddy. Just remember that freedom is NOT free. This is something I’m willing to fight and die for if necessary. God bless the United States of America. E Pluribus Unum. Out of many, one.
All these years later and this song still physically affects me with tears, goose bumps and chokes me up. My youngest daughter gave up her first year of college to become a Marine shortly after 9-11. She came home with rods in her lower back and a pride in her country as great as mine. She got her Masters degree after serving and a few years later she had a great family and job, still does. Thanks to the UK and our other allies during that time and apologies for the current clown in chief destroying everything in the USA and wherever else he can!
I still have deep rooted memories of hearing “God bless the USA” for the first time back in 1979 or maybe 1980 as a very young soldier at the enlisted club. I cried then and still cry when I hear it after a lifetime of service in the Army. All opinions and naysayers aside, this is still the greatest nation on earth. And yes God Bless the USA!
Amen. America never stops seeking perfection, although we know perfection is impossible; we keep on striving because that is what makes the USA unique in all of human history.
RIP Toby. That song did alot for us old veterans and civilians to let all know that it was gonna be alright at the end. Look fwd to having a beer with you someday.
This old vet still gets blurry on this one. From wiki: "At first, Keith refused to record the song and only sang it live at his concerts for military personnel. The reaction was so strong that the Commandant of the Marine Corps James L. Jones told Keith it was his duty as an American citizen to record the song. "It's your job as an entertainer to lift the morale of the troops," Jones said to Keith. "If you want to serve, that is what you can do."[1] As the lead single from the album Unleashed (2002), "Courtesy of the Red, White, & Blue" peaked at number 1 on the country charts over the weekend of July 4."

Millions of Americans are devastated by his passing. But we are also forever grateful for him, his music and his love of this Country.
I love him. Many prayers for his cancer recovery 🙏🏻🙏🏻
He enjoys being a celebrity and making money off troops, THATS IT!!
@@chiefswife1212What a hateful person you are. 🤫

RIP Toby. You left us some wonderful powerful songs.
It was also the first time I heard "Old School" which has become a new favorite since then.
not sure if you heard he has been battling Stomach Cancer.

The response of our friends around the world was so amazing. You dear sweet kids are precious and your Queen was so gracious . When she had her Royal band play America's National Anthem it was truly heart touching. I'm sorry for the loss of your Queen. God bless
Yep, NEVER FORGET.
Loved this. I feel most Americans have lots of patriotism though the news might present differently

Always brings tears to my eyes too. I was raised in a Military family - we have lost so many family members that I was not even able to meet. We do love this country.
This came out just before my senior year of high school. I remember pulling up in the parking lot right after it released and a big majority of the student body would have this blasting in their car. I grew up in a small town that had a total population of 26000 when I moved away, and a huge percentage of the student body enlisted in the days and weeks following 9/11.
Same here but in a town of about 1,500. My graduating class had 76 people in it. I know exactly what you mean.

It's hard being a soldier, but sometimes it's harder being a soldier's family.

Thank you for your service and sacrifice Sir. You’re truly an American Hero!
God Bless You and God Bless the USA!
@@jeanettestephens1573 It's ma'am (no worries), and it was my sincere honor to serve.
Has your dad ever watched the video of Ray Charles perform it at a baseball stadium. The ending of seeing Ray's reaction to the crowd was so sweet.
Has your Father every heard "Brothers In Arms" by Dire Straits? It hits Vietnam Vets hard and many have it played at their funerals.
This Ray Charles song for America is legendary. He didn't write the song, that was a long, long time ago. Only the Star Spangled Banner is historically more significant than America The Beautiful. Ray Charles rendition is the ultimate epic version.
I was in Korea serving in the U.S Army and this song hits in a different way. Thank you for this guys
Thank you for your service 💗 When were you there?
THANK YOU, for your service and your sacrifice. GOD BLESS YOU!
@@PJnTEXAS1 thank you for your acknowledgement
@@cindy844 I was there from December 2000- to November 2001, so just under 2 years. Camp Humphreys.
Thanks so much for your service! God bless you.
I started tearing up remember those days when we came together as one nation, under God. I miss those days. Also, prayers up #TobyKeith while he fights his own battle with stomach cancer 🙏🏻😊🇺🇸❤️
This wonderful man passed away yesterday. Look up Don't Let the Old Man In. It was his last performance 4 months ago.
Hello Beesley's from Indianapolis Indiana. Another patriotic song that is SUPER great is..."Where the Stars and Stripes and the Eagle Flies", by, Aaron Tippin. I've sern him in concert 13 times and never got tired of hearing it. It's a goosebumps song Millie! Thanks for playing Toby too.
Indianapolis indiana here too 🥰
@@mar-see-uh_not_marsha great minds think alike 😊
@@lansorbet5882 hi Lan, you're not too far! Glad to see more of us from Indiana ☺
Me too i thought for sure I was the only indy here lol
From Fort Wayne, Indiana
During my first deployment in 2003, we would play this song at least 3 or 4 times a week. It just gave you that boost after long days.
Thank you sir for your service. God bless and keep you! 🇺🇸🙏
Same here lmao little Iraqi kids absolutely loved the song 😂😂😂
To all our brothers in arms from my Country and our Allies, it's been a very long 20 yrs but there're still things to do.

You two are the reason we love the Brits! God bless the King. 🇺🇸🏴
After all these years this song still rips tears down my face...the emotions that you go through listening to it is unreal
Love your comment.❤
I still remember Toby Keith singing this at Camp Liberty, Baghdad in 2008. It was amazing to hear live.
Dmacc, wow!
Wow! I can’t imagine! What an experience! 🥰
R.I.P. Toby Keith! For 11 straight years he traveled over seas to perform for the troops doing 190 shows!
From an American, Thank You for standing proudly with us. 💕 we love our Brits!!!! Cheers!
Amen!
Thank you for your service and sacrifice….you are truly an American Hero!
I cry everytime I hear that song! It makes me so proud of my country!
How about Lee Greenwald "Proud to be an American" that song gives me goosebumps everytime. "40 hour week" by Alabama is good too. And if you haven't heard "A country boy can survive" by Hank Williams Jr it's must listen even if you don't react to it.
That's Lee Greenwood not Greenwald 😉
And you should react to him singing it with Home Free and the USAF Singing Sergeants 😍😍😍😍 it was filmed during Quarantine times and is awesome!! You need to introduce Millie to Home Free as well! 😉
@@Trishapurpleprincess
That's What I was going to say... to check out that version!
Its... God Bless The USA! Lee Greenwood w/Homefree
or well, Homefree feat. Lee Greenwood.
Great one!
"American Soldier" is also a good patriotic song by Toby Keith.
YES! You guys should totally listen to this song!!!
Absolutely
Back in 1950 I believe it is there’s a lady named Kate Smith. She was a opera sing right there she sings. God bless America if you want to hear something nice this lady can sing and it brings tears to your eyes. God bless you.
Tony Keith does many military tours, at home in the USA as well as overseas. He does them for FREE because he's a very patriotic man. I've seen him in concert myself, and he is a force! God bless him!
Every time I hear this song my heart swells with pride. We have our problems but when trouble comes we pull together to fight back. I love my country, warts and all. I was raised in the Marine Corps so I know the sacrifices our military and their families go thru. God bless our military and our country.
I haven't heard this in awhile or watched this particular video. I get emotional when I hear these songs. So, Millie, it hits all of us. I'm a Desert Storm veteran. There are 2 songs I heard on my short wave radio (BBC) while the air campaign started that to this day sets off my emotions. I always get emotional when I see my current brothers and sisters of Arms with a great song. So, my dear, it's a badge of honor to be so empathic towards us and it warms this old man's heart ( I'm 64 this yr) Thank you so very much. Put a tear in my eye. Peace. Stay safe. God Speed. 🤘 ❤
Thank you for your service!! 🇺🇲
Thank you for sharing and for your service and sacrifice Sir. God bless you and America too!
So true, what other country has a dream? The American dream is real and we are so blessed to be born under the red white and blue!
I come in late: as a combat veteran of the war on terror and a Proud American who has served alongside many UK soldiers I am grateful you did this video. You don't just recognize the pride we feel, you recognize the power in being united (if I may read a little into your video). I've enjoyed a few of your videos before and maybe that's why this one popped up on my feed, but you certainly deserve all respect for you video. As dale said below, we may bicker among ourselves but when someone comes in from outside we come together with a wrath of biblical proportion. Dale, God bless you, and may God bless the Beesleys for being wholesome entertainment in a world gone mad.
You made me cry. 🇺🇸 ❤ 🇺🇸
Thank you for showing respect and appreciation. ❤️
One crazy fact about this song, he was never going to perform it outside of USO shows, but the Commandant of the Marine Corps called him and basically ordered him release it publicly
And then Natalie Maines heard it, voiced her opinion, and took the Dixie Chicks off the radio. RIP, Dixie Sluts.
This song always brings tears to my eyes.
I am, allegedly, a mature, tough dude and yet every time I hear this song I get choked up. Love this song.
"American Soldier" by Toby Keith is absolutely his best patriotic song... so powerful.
My husband is retired now but he'd already been in for 12 years on 9/11. I get a bit teary every time I see this. The other one is American soldier. When it came out I swore Toby had written it in our living room. It was exactly us. Please give that a listen.
You aren't the only ones who tear up when they listen to this song. It will always remind me of how strong and united our country once was. Although I am disappointed with many Americans now days, I couldn't be more proud to be one. God Bless The U.S.A.!!!!!!!!
Almost on par with this song is "Am I the only one" by Aaron Lewis.
I wholeheartedly agree and absolutely love that song!
