I can't believe this guy's this good at jazz and also in a metal band, it's not fair.
This kid always impresses me it's nice to know the future of drumming is being fulfilled by talented guys like the this. God bless
I'd like to say, the camera work and audio on this video are top notch! FANTASTIC job capturing Greyson at your store!
Thanks so much Adam, it means a lot!
Well said, Adam.
It's simply GORGEOUS
He´s so goddam goooooood!!! OK, he must be working 16 hours a day, but it´s not just that... he´s so tasteful, so musical, so complete. he can play a metal band and a big band like the best you can name....
Welcome to Sepultura!!🇧🇷
Greyson has this kind of feel about his solos where its like your listening to it from a few rooms away from him and he has no clue your listening
Just havin fun
Meaning not musical.
@@tylerpedersen9836 Not you again 🫣 u can't play like Greyson give up Tyler 😉!
🥲@@dietersteinhardt2553
@@tylerpedersen9836 I don't think you know what musical is my dude...
Tonight Grayson has a clinic in Ottawa, Ontario at Dave’s Drum Shop, which I will be going to. Looks like these people were treated to some killer drumming by this young man. Nice footage, DCP!
Awesome, have fun! He is a MONSTER player.
Greyson going Bonham with those hands on that hand solo!
I was thinking Tommy Aldridge. But then again I haven't seen Bonham do that with the hands.
@@dilankarun9172 A lot have. Fanboys only thing their fav did
Actually, Bonham got that from Joe Morello of The Dave Brubeck Quartet. Check out the song Take 5
@@daveduane2699Papa Jo Jones did it before Morello
Greyson's awesome, and world-class production by y'all.
He's pretty good!
I hope this will be a regular thing on this channel. We really need more quality drumming and it`s platforms like this that can make it happen. Thanks DCP !
Double sticks in each hand. I was doing that back in 1986 - I'm sure someone was doing it long before myself. ...what's old is new again. Love what you can do with 4 sticks and two hands. LOL
Greyson is so damn fun to watch, especially when he forgets the audience, and he just gets in the zone. The kid can shred...
HUGE Thanks for sharing with those of who can't make these clinics...
Double sticks was used even before 86' by Steve Gadd on a Simon & Garfunkle track in the 70's . I think he did a Mozambique with it.
@@dilankarun9172 - that's what I'm saying. It's so cool seeing it put in play again...
Drum Centrr of Portsmouth simplesmente sensacional !
Vocês são fantásticos !
Sempre trazendo novidades do mundo da bateria para os bateristas e amantes da música.
Saudações !!!
Guys give me a break on ANY negative comments. Any of the top drumers of today would give this drummer a thumbs up 👍!!!. This is a 20 minute drum solo for entertainment and showmanship. He is not keeping a multi piece band together.Any drummer who solos for 20 minutes will have a challenge in keeping the audience engaged for the whole time. He is a awesome player!!!
Outstanding.
Bravo!
I was so looking forward to Greyson playing in Brand Xa few years back, but John passed away before they really got started. I like Greyson alot, his left hand index & middle finger alternations in the left hand are magnificent. He's a fine technician on the drums. That said, I don't hear alot of melodic playing in this solo. He's got plenty of technique so I remain hopeful he will grow musically & not just as a drumming phenom.
Imagine so people criticise Him 🤣😂 hahaha Jokers He is Pure Talent!
AMAZING GREYSON!!!!!!
Man Greyson could get into one hell of a slap fight! In all seriousness, he’s great and inspirational to young and old alike! Great playing and passion!
Nice playing & style...
He’s having a conversation with the drums. Introducing elements one at a time and showing them he can work each element individually to its fullest potential. Then he methodically combines all the elements into a journey through different schools of technique as an ensemble.
All the while, having perfect technique.
It’s like writing an epic poem in perfect penmanship.
More like an Argument! Didn't hear one groove with any feeling. All flash & technique. After a minute or two it get's really old. Boring.
Greyson é um gigante !!!!!
I believe that 5% of the musicians that are good enough to get publicity get the publicity they deserve and about 95% of the players out there don't get enough publicity or recognition to make or add to their Fame❤ jwm.
Greyson my new favourite drummer...........This guy is awesome
Wow to be young again with all that endurance
Again? What a treat!!
Sounds great, what a talent for a young man, building his resume with diverse bands too !
Magnificent... what an experience, thanks DCP
Thanks and that is for sure!
Captação de som e imagem de primeira qualidade !!!!
What's Not To Love. Greyson serves it up and will be doing nothing but making gains in the drumming world!
holy moly.... 😎
Buddy Rich would be proud. I would love to see him add some more cymbal work into his solos. Maybe a butterfly or two. Either way he’s a great talent
This kid is really good 👍 👍💯
shows up in pajamas, leaves the crowd stunned.
this could be the video that convinces me to get those drums.
We have them in stock!
as a non drummer this is so damn cool... the creativity with the technical aspect is fantastic
Quando você pensa que já ouviu de tudo vem este cara e te impressiona.
He's amazing 👏
shout out to the audio engineers. sounds terrific
I wish we all could play the drums at DCP :)
🌹 ❤❤
I'm obviously totally in awe of the technical level at display here but sometimes it felt like a Olympic figure skating competition. I certainly had the urge to "award" some points after some of his tricks, and there were a lot of 9.5s and up :-)
I think I'll check out this band Suicidal Tendencies.
I'm 14 minutes into this solo, and I think it's fair to say I've not seen anything like this. I'm 62 years old. This young man is amazing and has true talent. Good for him for working his ass off to reach this level of skill. THANKS DC of P for sponsoring this video. Absolutely amazing. Cheers!
He's throwing in some Buddy Rich licks & a little Louie Bellson double stick licks.
A 20-minute solo that varies and evolves throughout. How he manages to keep the audience interested for so long is a small wonder in itself.
Oh and get this man on some Congas and Djembes !!!
I cried 'Uncle' 30 seconds in!!!!!!😀
We still are.... lol
R.J. Herrera woild be proud!!!
Amazing and serious technique
Unreal!
3 drums guys ... buddy is laughing up there!
The bar has rizen!
Channeling Mr. Krupa!!!
This is one of the best solos I've ever seen.
I didn't want this to end.
He has an interesting thing going on with the fingers on his left hand when he does those fast singles. His fingers go in and out. Never saw this before...
anything else to play with since childhood?
What the items to the left of your hi hat? AWESOME SOLO!!!!
Fucking amazing
I will take everyone's word that that was great stuff
This was recorded especially well. I see the mic's listed (thank you for that), can you tell us the interface used? I see what looks like an Apollo twin, but it must be more than that, given the number of mic's. That kit sounds astonishingly good.
Thank you Phil! The UA Apollo was just used for his playback when he was playing to tracks. The audio was recorded straight off the Presonus Studiolive 32ac I use for all of the DCP videos!
@@tinterlandeHa! You’re kidding me! I have that exact board (but I’m using the full Audix mic set). Well, damn….I’ve got no excuses now. You dialed those in incredibly well. I’ve got a big order I’m getting ready to put in with you guys very soon, on a custom kit I’m having built by a company in your neck of the woods, but I may have to splurge on a set of those Earthworks, even if it’s just those overheads. I’m sure that room you guys have helps, as well. You always do a great job of getting a killing (and very natural) drum sound. You’ll have to remember those settings (hopefully, you saved that mix)…these sound especially good. Thanks again, brother. That was surprisingly encouraging news.
That is definitely not a 16" floor tom as stated in the description! It is clearly a 14x14..
Wow, Wow, Wow, that young man is in the zone! Phenomenal job capturing that sonically as well. Thanks to all🏜
What do you think is coming through on the headset? Baseball game?
Is that definitely 22,16,13 it looks like 20,14,13? Im torn on what sizes to get for the president drums
Those slacks tho! So weird watching most people play traditional they're left shoulder goes waaaay down because it's un natural and the body is trying to get leverage. And yes I play traditional... *Great* solo for sure! Sound wise you guys are really nailing it, great job!
Im starting to think time under tension isn't the best way to build muscle
Also listen to a little bit of Iron Butterfly drumming....
He’s even starting to look like Buddy too
This guy is not in the same stratosphere as Buddy.
Does anybody know what sticks Greyson used?
Is it an improvisation or an existing track?
All improv.
John Bonham… he was class.
He's a Savvy Young Buck, just trying to make a living in a tough economy. When you consider the number of entertainment venues that are closing down! Because of a bad economy. And being from New York I'm sure he knows what it takes to survive. And that is simply determination, on his part.🎉
He is pretty good, but I am not hearing anything that made the greats special. Greyson spends a little too much time mimicking other's styles instead of developing his own.
I'm a huge fan of Bobby Caldwell (the drummer, not the singer). Captain Beyond, Armageddon. Anyone else?
Yes! Me too. I spoke with him years ago and told him how much I admired his drumming especially with Johnny Winter. He was a big influence on me as a teen ager.
Impressive doesn’t begin to compliment that level of skill…
To be original is to do somethings no one has done before
except it did, some buddy that was rich.
Me at 4:00 :
🥺😲🤯🙃🥲🥰🙏🏾😁
To all the critics: Try listening without watching. It’s so much better. Maybe read something. It’s not too bad. Lots of well recorded sounds.
Cool pants.
Bonham and Rich would be proud 💯🤘🔥
How the DCP family today?
Doing great Lance!
@@drumcenternh awesome
22/13/16 for sure???? this looks more like 18/12/14 to me.......
Certainly looks like a 14 floor to me. Compared to the snare. Iirc, the President comes in 22-13-16 and 20-12-14
Our mistake, he used a 20/12/14 kit.
When is Pearl going to give him a Masterworks set ? I know they're using him to promote the President Series. But kid deserves something way better. At least Meinl's doing him right. Jus sayin 😉
This cat is like Neal Peart and John Bonham had a baby.... hahahahahaha.
I see his style as more like Buddy Rich
Boy he's really fixated on that snare.
He is getting paid by the Flam.
Reminds me of Buddy Rich.
It's not just me, is it?! His playing really is obscene, isn't it?! Possibly the most impressive thing about Greyson, is that the success he's now enjoying: he made that happen. So deserved.
Why obscene?
@@DJPollux-bp8yq Obscene, as in "so good, it's..."
Geez! Did those drums say something about his mom?
The best crossovers, since Buddy Rich..
Has potential. With a little more practice, he could really go places. JUST KIDDING! Loved this guys playing. You know some guys look at Buddy Rich and just quit, it’s that disheartening. This guy took one look and said: ‘Hey, if he can do it so can I!’ Fantastic drumming! Nice kit & cymbals too. - I’m jealous to the bone.
Smokin hand work, but where is the kick?
Today’s Buddy Rich
For Sale: ALL my drum sets and assorted paraphernalia.
Great job but he needs someone else to drum off with, next time call me
Однообразно так,что даже скучно стало!!!
The Best Drummer on planet earth today!!
lmao not even remotely
Let’s not get carried away
20 minutes of calisthenics and little to no musicality. Seriously Greyson has chops but it is all very iffy and edgy. He should not be playing extended solos with no arc or continuity for an informed captive audience of drummers. I could watch Steve Jordan play a groove for 20 minutes or Jeff Hamilton swing his ass off and it would be oh so satisfying but not this. Sorry.
I kind of think I agree it's a little bit boring and he's wearing a click track
Joe you really should check with Portsmouth bf spreading false info he was NOT using a click
I was there .. kid is insane ..
Yeah I can see his technique is great but it's like listening to a dripping tap, a fast roll doesn't have much shape or groove to it by itself. Trying not to sound negative or overly critical because the guy deserves recognition. I would rather listen to myself solo tbh.
Came here to say all of this^
Bear in mind that he's not quite 21.he can play extended solos if he wants.thats how you learn, opie.
Like a modern Buddy lol sorry just had to
I love hiw the jokers who cant do a simple paradiddle will sit here and criticize this guy. Grow up and just say that you're a jealous hack and move on..
The young man is a great drummer but I grew tired of this after 3 minutes or so into this just didn’t excite me to continue to listen to this as is all his videos he’s a great young talent but overplays everything and gets real old definitely not a drummer I would follow no where near Weckl or Coliuta which I could listen to for days!!
Couldn’t agree with you more. Unfortunately speed does not make up for a lack of taste and natural feel that can’t be taught. We can add Steve Gadd and Manu Katche to that list.
All the positive comments are just a sign of the times. Very disappointing.
It didn’t do much for me… he’s fast…lacks something kinda boring..
Little too wild for my taste. Plus, I think this style of drumming has just been done better in the past, IMO. Not saying he’s not good, just this might be a case of social media overhype?! Also, his left hand has a weird angle to it, it’s pointed inward too much. Buddy, Vinnie, Gadd, etc. have their left hand more outward. The angle should match the right. Fun vid though!
