I'm sorry for the off-topic but I was watching closely to his face expressions and it's curious and heartwarming to witness Mangini's getting older! I mean, at 2010 when he was elected the chosen one, he looked so much younger! And I say this without any form of disrespect nor derogatory meaning but with utmost respect! 13 years later and he's still kicking ass with his mastery with Pearl drums!
Mike Mangini is the greatest Drummer of the modern era, and he's still like a kid in a candy store! I've always been a Pearl man myself, and Mike is right, it's a fantastic Drum kit! 🤘🏻🥁🤘🏻
My first ever drum set was a Pearl International. And now all these years later I want another acoustic kit by Pearl; the Reference One platform. That said; these Masters Maple sound supreme as well! Beautiful sounding shells.
Wow! Tone for days without any weird ringy boomy tones. And yes, to Mike's point so evenly matched, that they sound like someone took a sample and is playing them like notes on a keyboard. They all decay out at the same interval, how is that even possible? Absolutely stunning! One of the best kits Ive ever heard.
Mike Mangini is awesome. Met him once after a DT show and was just one of the nicest guys ever. Same with John Petrucci, Jordan Rudess, and James LaBrie. Didn't get to meet John Myung though.
My man Mangini getting old! But he ages like a fine wine. 😊 Such skill and mastery. I’ve always loved his energy and showmanship. How much more with a great sounding kit!?
That's the way it's supposed to be with the tuning process I've always tuned my drum set that way it's awesome when you have the righteous blending of resignation I call it spices and seasonings tuning process
Tonal consistency across the drums is amazing! I didn't understand what Pearl was trying to do by these first. I have heard many drums , and it's the first time where I started listening and I'm hearing how unique it sounds and how balanced it is across and connected to each other.
Yes, it's the pedal for his right hi-hat. Usually he had the pedals inverted and the right pedal would be for the left hi-hat, but it seems that here it's for the hi-hat on the right.
That kit was tuned superbly....
Absolutely phenomenal sounding kit.
No joke.
Thanks
And pretty!
The sonic crack of the snare drum is awesome.
That is without any doubt the best sounding drum kit I've ever heard... absolutely stunning... those drums are singing like no other drums
Mike: "Boy, Dream Theater fans are gonna love these drums"
We sure do, Mike. We sure do.
of course, we do. But sadly he isnt DT drumer now
I Play Pearl over 30 years now, still Love my good old BLX, but this Kit Sounds awesome..🤘🤘👍👍
Who are you bra😊

I love the way that Snare drum sounds.
2:56 The original Masters Maple was the MMX, which was 4+4. MCX 6-ply wasn't offered until several years later.
Im not a Perl type of drummer .. but my god was this impressive. The tuning is masterful. Wow. Great job Pearl
Pearl have truly smashed it out of the park with the 3 new series, I can't wait to see more incredible drummers get their hands on these kits
That's the best sounding Pearl kit I've heard in a long time.
Indeed. The toms relate to each other. And that 10" snom...
Beautiful Kit! Beautiful Sound! Beautiful Guy!
I've been playing Pearl World Series since 1987 and omg, this just sounds like a wet dream. 🤩

🤘🏻🥁🤘🏻
The joy of “playing” is not lost on him. It’s incredibly refreshing to see that in a player at his level.
We want this type of drum mix in the album
Much like my 1987 six ply MLX! Still mint today!
My first ever drum set was a Pearl International. And now all these years later I want another acoustic kit by Pearl; the Reference One platform. That said; these Masters Maple sound supreme as well! Beautiful sounding shells.
You know you did good when you impressed mike!!!

I love them though, even out of dt
I'm still not over it 😢
Yeeeeeeeshhhh! 🫤
Well, I was a DT fan before they fired him, and I do love those drums.
I like portnoy. But Mangini on the other hand is a waaaaay better drummer. He’s absolute monster behind the kit
that is a phenomenal sounding kit.
Adding a snare bed to the 8' rack tom is genius!
Isn’t that a Mike Mangini idea from a while back?
Is that what’s going on with that drum? I couldn’t figure it out I’m like how the hell is he getting that sound out of tom. I want to do that.
Pearl Drums - I Love it ! Play WLX Drums from the 1986 in Coral Red. Great!
incredibly musical sounding kit

Beautiful set and with the master mike behind it perfection
I LOVE that snare sound. Kit sounds fantastic!
Do you know what snare he's using ?
Was there that day of the performance. They absolutely nailed the consistency in tone. Kit sounded like 1 (phenomenal) instrument.
HOT DAMN, Those sound amazing. Of course, Mangini playing on them really helps too.
I have this same kit and same absinthe finish. I need to get my set tuned like this
honestly I wanna hear more of the tom with the optional snare strainer. That's a really great idea
These sound amazing!

Great snare sound 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
The whole kit sounds great but that kick and snare 🤩🔥
Chi più del grande Mangini , poteva evidenziare al meglio questo grande kit ...
WISH THERE WAS MORE DRUM VIDEOS WHERE THE DRUMS SOUND AS GOOD AS THIS ONE.
Sounds amazing!
Super consistent between toms , fabulous job Pearl !!
Green Spahkles! Love the Boston accent.

Mike Mangini may be the sweetest person I have ever met.
SOUNDS AMAZING!
that room sound is awesome
You really should get the bigger kit back. 😊
Whaoh those sound so consistent, resonant, rich and deep. Can we please have the drums sound like this on the next dream theater album? Holy smokes.
It would have been nice if they would have done a close up of the suspension mount they were raving about!
I just want to give him a hug! Happiest man in drumming for sure.
That kit sounds sweeeeet
Waw..awesome Mr.Mangini.. awesome Pearl🥁👍🔥
My God, that snare. That's what I'm talking about.
Que Som Belíssimo !!!!
I've always admired the Sonor brand.. but these baby's sound amazing..
Mike. Mike is Mike.
What better dude to test out the new Pearl kits besides myself of course 😂MM is the reason I got back into Pearl!
Lovely kit. Was most impressed with the snare tho 😂😍
My man Mangini getting old! But he ages like a fine wine. 😊
Such skill and mastery. I’ve always loved his energy and showmanship. How much more with a great sounding kit!?

Always wanted the green sparkle kit. Love it!
I love my Pearl drums. I have the 1996 Prestige Session Series. The best drums money can buy.

Sounds really nice 💯💥💥💥
That's the way it's supposed to be with the tuning process I've always tuned my drum set that way it's awesome when you have the righteous blending of resignation I call it spices and seasonings tuning process
Love the green sparkle
My Kit is
Pearl World Series with Super Hoops. They are the loudest drums that i or anyone I know has heard.
Dat snare CRACK, yo!
Tonal consistency across the drums is amazing! I didn't understand what Pearl was trying to do by these first.
I have heard many drums , and it's the first time where I started listening and I'm hearing how unique it sounds and how balanced it is across and connected to each other.
เสียงกลองสดมากฟังได้จากทอมใบแรก มีเสียงแซ่ของแสนร์
Yeah, those sound damned fine 🤘
Pearl Drums sempre Sensacional !!!!
I wish your kit sounded like that on dream theater recordings.
I love the "shhh" at 1:11... lol!
drum tech got fired that day lol
Mike rules
Drums sound awesome and sounded killer in-person at the event! 🤘👍🥁💪
The kick And the snare is the best in the kid
Makes me want to get a new Pearl kit. What is snare here?
Mike used a prototype 14x6.5 nickel over brass snare drum for the event...
@@PearlDrumsUS sounds amazing
That snare😮
Dang man!!! That floor tom 18"?
Shimmer Of Oz finish - that's good marketing. Nostalgic & humorous.
That kit sounds amazing does anybody know what kind of Pearl snare that is?
This is a prototype 14x6.5 nickel over brass snare drum...
looks like Steve Ferrone sig.
Pearl makes killer hardware.
Is that a snare at the first tom holder?
This is theE best sounding kit I’ve ACTUALLY EVER HEARD
Took me a while to figure out how the small tom sounded like a snaredrum 😂
And the new pedals.
What are the pedals? Had me wondering :)
Can i have one next pls
Does anyone know what the pedal to the right of the kick does? Mike didn't touch it in this video. Is it an auxiliary cable hi-hat?
Yes, it's the pedal for his right hi-hat. Usually he had the pedals inverted and the right pedal would be for the left hi-hat, but it seems that here it's for the hi-hat on the right.
What type of snare is he using? Sounds really good.
Mike used a prototype 14x6.5 nickel over brass snare drum for the event...
Which heads?
