They put up fencing around Wuhan neighborhoods in the first outbreak, nothing knew. Chinese are notorious for not following protocols. They were seen (several videos) climbing under fencing baracades and going shopping.
They have a zero Covid policy, it's not working for them. They don't want to expose the fact that their vaccines are garbage since they forced everyone to get it. China is/has loosing face! They imported mRNA for the elite CPP members, what does that tell ya!

nothing strange. china has been practicing strict 0 covid policy for the past 2 yrs and achieved a very good result. after initial wuhan death tolls of 4000+ ppl, china only had a few hundred covid deaths in the past 2 yrs and life inside china returned to as normal as pre-pandemic period. many places in china didnt even have mask mandates until omicrom hit.
omicrom first hit hong kong in mid january. hong kong has a different covid policy from mainland china. although hong kong also practices lite version of 0-covid policy, but many of its senior population refused to be vaccinated and hong kong govt refused to lockdown. then boom...hong kong generated 8000+ covid deaths within 2 months.( comparing to 200+ covid deaths in previous 2 yrs). hong kong healthcare system was on the edge of total meltdown. china came to rescue and brough some of hong kong covid patients in quarantine to shengzhen and shanghai.
this was how omicrom sneaked into shenzhen and shanghai. how did shanghai's situation get out of hand and shenzhen did not? shanghai local govt refused to lockdown the city in the early stage of omicrom invasion. then boom....omicrom spreaded like wildfire in shanghai until chinese central govt stepped in. immediately chinese central govt proceeded with city-wide mass testings and lockdown.

Name another country which is being "bloody careful". My home country UK has given up and not doing a damned thing, even with 174,000 deaths and 2.9m infected last week (ONS figures) and the govt continues to lie despite being found guilty by the courts.

Which facts has he been spot on in the past exactly?
I have to say, since the beginning of this, my thought way back in february 2020, I was astonished at their reaction, China is not known for their humanitarianism, so why the concern? And the past month has me seriously concerned, they are willing to let their economy take a major hit, their citizens are basically imprisoned, and if the reports are accurate, they are going hungry, this does not make sense for the virus that we know. So what do they know about the long term effects?

Living in China - Hubei an easy daily commute for many for many to Wuhan - China has ZERO immunity form post infections as a direct result of it's ZERO Covid policy - and although a high percentage (90+%) had their first vaccinaions - apparently total trust in the Governments Zero Policy has led to a much lower percentge (pnly 70+%) going for their 2nd and booster - especailly amongst the more rural communities and the elderly. At the start of the month - i believe that all of Hubei province were tested for Covid (that's 50+million people or roughly the same as the UK) and this hs happened in other cities and provinces too. With 'Track and Trace' built into the biggest payments apps (which 80+% off all payments are made through) - China is taking ANY Covid seriously - no matter how that looks outside.
Thank you for sharing, I wish we knew China's numbers so we could fully understand what is going on. Keeping that stuff hidden only hurts everyone. Are the vaccinations there not as effective? Wouldn't it be easier to require vaccinations for school and work than doing these whole city lockdowns? They are on their testing game for sure, not sure how they are testing that many people, incredible. The video we are seeing of the centers where people with covid are living, although harsh and not perfect, and a little scary seem to be housing people who don't seem to be symptomatic or very ill. I wonder what true hospitalization and death rate is? Like Dr. Vu said, I am a little curious what they know that we don't.

I also read that Sinovax is far less effective than Pfizer or Moderna, so even the vaxxed are more susceptible to any Covid.
If their stance is, we can rebuild economies; we can't bring the dead back to life, that's admirable. Then again, Covid doesn't discriminate -- it doesn't care if you are rich or poor. It only cares about the precautions you DO take.

I really wouldn’t blame them either due to all the crap they got at the start of 2020 for telling the world about SARS 2 Covid19, they got that much abuse from all over the world especially from countries like Australia, USA and quite a few other countries, calling them everything under the sun, and more. A bit like when South Africa told the world about their variant and all they got was abuse from a lot of the world.

The nurses and doctors have been working an unsafe environment since the beginning of this pandemic and treated horribly wrong.
They have always been overworked long before COVID-19 hit.
California's nursing shortage has been going on since 1990. All the nurses are burned out. It has nothing to do with COVID.

This is exactly what I see. When we do not learn to care about each other we might just be given the lessons over and over till we get it.
Hum interesting. I actually had covid in January and it really put life into perspective. It made me realize how precious life is and that we are at the mercy of Mother Nature. But I too was left with the feeling that this is just getting started. And those too disconnected from what really gives life (the eternal divine) will come to be tested as well. No matter how many vaccine shots you get.
the lesson wasn't learned with the wild type...so the teacher sent alpha, then delta, then omicron, then all the omicron "variants," now the "subvariants"...as the teacher gets tougher, humanity just keeps trying to dust it under the rug by further minimizing the pandemic

Boston wastewater tracking is cautiously optimistic because the numbers are going down . We had Easter , Passover ,the Boston Marathon and school vacation . No mask mandatory for subway or buses really a test to see if it will continue going down ( hopefully trying to get medical stuff I put off done )

Mid-February 2020: Hit Costco. Late February 2020: coworkers making jokes amongst themselves about 'mysterious virus' and 'singing "Happy Birthday" to themselves while they cleansed their hands. (Me: Their arrogance/ignorance is horrifying.) Early March 2020: first official COVID case detected @ work. 48 hours later, international employer's official "WFH order" was announced.
Mid-March 2020: 44 confirmed US cases; two weeks later, 5000 confirmed US cases; April 2022 official US lockdown and locked-in NY City residents' applause from their mid-town balconies to support the endangered First Responders, who risked their lives to save lives, was absolutely deafening.

In the UK 60-74 yr olds weren't offered the 4th booster. Our third dose was around November. The effect is now waning, mask wearing is now largely ignored, and as a consequence many in this age group are now catching Covid. I started to have cold symptoms last week so tested daily but did not get a positive result day until day 4 (when I was actually starting to feel much better). From my perspective a) vaccines worked b) masks helped c) tests are not that useful. It is to be hoped Governments get their act together on their vaccination programmes for vulnerable groups in time for next Winter.
Believe what you see and not what you hear. Unless they are completely conditioning people to obey? Just not hearing of deaths. They have been in lockdown now for 6 weeks wtf

Some points:
1. Inadequate vaccine tech.
2. Surprisingly low vaccination rate among the elderly. Guess they have trust issues too.
3. Low health care coverage to handle a massive outbreak.
4. Must show to the rest of the world "China does things better".
5. Inability to revert on policy in order to "save face".
Our vaccines work fine against delta and prior, and despite some rise in deaths here with omicron because of the sheer numbers catching it, it never threatened to overwhelm hospitals. Denmark has been fully open with no mitigation efforts for some time now, and is now even removing public vaccination efforts. Will likely offer boosters to those most in need. And here median age for hospitalization has climbed way back up again toward the very elderly (from 35-40 during delta peak to around 87, depending on which week), possibly linked to waning efficacy of vaccine or "postponed hospitalizations" catching up (pre delta we had negative excess deaths from all causes).
Of course there is no guessing what will happen it autumn, except increase in respiratory diseases as per usual for the season. New variant? Something may happen, but I really doubt that's what's going on in China atm. Now it's just China being China.

Flying May 15th weekend. I'm 54 and have had my second Moderna booster. My son is 14 and has had his Pfizer booster. I'm thinking we need masks in the airport, on the jet bridge, and on the plane until the ventilation system is on, and then we can unmask on the plane because the ventilation system is HEPA and high movement. Does that sound right? We have tight fitting legit N95s. Thanks
I wouldn't trust it. I would keep my mask on with a plane full of ppl. The virus is unpredictable.
I’m high risk and I know people have died that we’re healthy so I would wear my in 95 on a plane or any in any in any building at this current time. All this things about germs are gonna get worse and they’re always gonna get sick from it and find that kind of odd because I had grandparents that lived well into their hundreds they didn’t go around a lot of people they didn’t travel on planes never been on a plane in their entire life so they didn’t move about a lot they were outside in the country a pure food that’s the life I want! 😂🤣. My point is there’s something else going on because right now there’s a liver problem and small children and some one has died and Some have had Liver transplants. This is been seen in Illinois one of the North Carolina think and then Alabama and in the UK it’s starting to spread name as fast whatever it is
Julia, I agree with your thinking 100% - although I am 71 and am not in any hurry to get back on an airplane. Even when I go to a store I have upped my game to an N95 (versus a double layer cloth mask) since so many others aren't wearing masks at all.

Theoretically, this may be similar to similar previously seen liver problems caused by Epstein Barr virus (EBV) or Human Cytomegalovirus (HCMV). Israeli doctors have said today that recent infection (3-4 months) with BA.2 variants was the only common denominator.
The established BA.2 variant isn't spreading quickly in the US, but there is a sublineage which may have the potential to spread, although it's too early to call. It's becoming increasingly clear that too many re-infections can be harmful to both (some) adults and (some) children, and hep may be directly related to prior SC2 infection.

The BA2.12.1 is growing where I am and we are 7.9% + officially, but you know it is more than that. I had the second booster yesterday. Plenty of walk-ins also getting the booster.

I think it's because of the amount of people in China so congested... social distancing is impossible and colds and flu's are much harder to contain or control along with this virus and once they develop something to contain it we need to pay attention cause china is the new catalyst.
