I feel like I’m in the twilight zone! I’m hearing all the numbers of positive tests and hospital rooms being full but I’m watching the US Open and it’s tens of thousands of people gathering and yelling with no masks. Sounds like Delta doesn’t care about indoor or outdoor. This makes me crazy!

To be an elementary school teacher, spending 7 hours in a classroom, with 29 unvaccinated third graders....so happy I retired in 2019. I pray for all school teachers and of course medical professionals, and hell, the entire world population (with the exception of Al-Qaeda members.)

My spouse’s work at an insurance office just had it go through the office. Three people caught it outside the office. Two brought it into the office before they knew they had it they infected three others, one 8 months pregnant, one with cancer being treated. All were vaccinated and all have made it through okay. They may have lost someone had everyone not been vaccinated. Oh and cancer patient gave it to their spouse. All total that we know of seven people.
I was a dental hygienist for 2 decades, and in the 70s, I had an instructor say, "Spit flies 6 feet." so when the CDC started discussing 6 feet social distancing, I said those people think it's spreading through the air and not through touch. I started wearing masks that day. Dental offices have always been dangerous places to work. I was working during the beginning of the AIDS epidemic, and I think the dental profession has forgotten some of its lessons. In 1982 I was the only person wearing gloves in my office, but by 1984 everyone was wearing masks, gloves, face shields, and scrubs to protect ourselves and our families from the aerosolized blood flying out of people's mouths. In May, I had my teeth cleaned for the first time in over a year, and I was a little annoyed when my dentist and hygienist only wore masks, not masks and face shields. AIDS was bloodborne, and we wore face shields. Covid is air-borne, and they weren't wearing face shields, unbelievable.

It’s not risky if no one‘s been there in three days and you wear all of that if you get it then this shits in the air! And has some major hang time by days. 🤦♀️🤣. It’s more risky for me to get really close to a pharmacist that’s been around sick people to have a vaccine and to even go in that building would be crazy. It’s best to get a vaccine outside and even then when they have to put that syringe in your arm that’s closer than 6 feet remember what the government says 6 feet.
I'm a hairstylist, who has my own one person salon.. ever since the mask mandate, and actually before, I have required masks for the duration of their appts, and have been requiring them ever since.(no exceptions) Unfortunately, I am not the majority, and am really concerned, that all of the daily efforts to keep safe & disinfected, will not be enough..

Just got back from my teeth cleaning today. Dentist said they reduced days and hours during the first lockdown but remained open for emergency care and to treat people who were going to lose their insurance because of employer shutdown. They are all scheduled to receive their 3rd booster shot in October. Really hope they can weather what comes, they are a great, small family business.

Here in Oklahoma, I went to get a shake from a nutrition shop and they closed down their drive-thru that was originally put in place due to Covid. They literally said the drive-thru is closed now and the inside is open again because covid is "slowing down".

Because of the pandemic, I switched from a retail setting (where everyone could walk in, and the owner didn't believe covid was real) to a tiny biz that's just two people and very few visitors. This gave my income a 90% haircut, but that's still better than the alternative.

I quit my call center job last year. Up to 500 coworkers in one big windowless room, daily shared cubicles and equiment. Most employees were in their 20s or seniors. None could afford the health insurance, even managers came to work sick. I knew I would die if I stayed. Corporate lagged way behind on taking the pandemic seriously. They were profiting off it.
The barber shop I use to go to had all the employees "half masking" (nose not covered) during my last visit (this was before any vaccines were available). They're history with my business now.
I'm sure they're shaking in their barber chairs worrying about losing your business LOL.

Yes, I’m was so torn on what to do. My 12 yo twins are fully vaxxed and wear kn-95 to school. All students and must wear masks and teachers and staff must be vaccinated by October. I wanted to keep them home for safety but I’m resolved we’re going to get exposed and socially they need to be there. If they contract SARS CoV2 hopefully they won’t generate enough viral load to expose those at home. If however, I do develop symptoms I’m going for mAb ASAP.

We have planned for this and made all of our appointments before the holiday weekend. We also wear masks indoors everywhere and wear Kn95 masks. Schools have no backup plans here in California.
Smart move.. Exactly. My youngest is not vaccinated (he's 11) . It's like they're taking their sweet time. Both of my kids wear K95 to school.

I had to email my college president and told him if hes seriously going to think about reopening the school he better have a damn good team of TRAINED contact tracers just for the school and have contingency plans ready because the school WILL have to shut back down without mask mandates, vaccine mandates, and contact tracing considering they're ignoring social distancing as well. Thankfully the board of Trustees voted for mask mandates indoors regardless of vaccination status, social distancing and anyone who wants to come onto campus for any reason has to provide proof of vaccination or negative test within the past 48 hours...or they can get tested right there at the school and come back when the results come back
Yes, but are you wearing adequate eye protection? With Delta the vital load is so big that many virus particles enter the eyes. The particles are then washed by tears into the lacrimal sac, which then empties into your nasal cavity and down your throat.

Not so sure it is ever wise to put off pap smears. Avoid Covid only to find out you have ovarian cancer that was diagnosed too late?
@@justylex Pap smears detect Cervical Cancer NOT Ovarian cancer. Granted, during my annual exam, my OB/GYN also does a manual exam because I have an ovarian cyst and fibroids which I assume could possibly detect early ovarian cancer. Not sure if all doctors do that since some women have their PCPs do their annual exam.

Thank you Dr. V! I'm a personal support worker specialist working with developmentally challenged adults in community inclusion. Never thought I would have to add "while keeping everyone safe during a pandemic!" I have worn masks indoors and out since before anyone recommended doing so here. I've been using 3-layer cloth masks with a filter and am changing over to the N95s as you recommended last week. I find my biggest hurdle now is convincing my 21 year old sons to get vaccinated. Beating my head on a wall!
Similar with my 30 yo son. But between me and his wife, he did get vaccinated and what a relief. (Hard to say no when your mom is a nurse ; )

To those with long hair there is a youtuber, ‘Brad Mondo’ who has a video on how to cut your own hair. I am immune compromised so have been cutting my own shoulder length hair following his directions. All you need are those very small hair elastics, a comb and a pair of hair cutting scissors.
It involves parting and sectioning your hair into six to eight even pieces, depending on how thick your hair is, tying each off with a small elastic just above where you want to cut it. When tied, all the elastics should be at the same height, exactly! Then you cut each section a half inch below the elastic. When they are all done, go back and with the scissor facing up into the ends, make some tiny cuts to feather it a bit so the edge doesn’t look perfectly straight across. When finished, take out the elastics and you are done!
Watch his video for more detail on how to do this process right. Watch it a few times and then pause it after you complete each step. Practice makes perfect! (And don’t wash any hair down your sink or toilet to avoid a clogged drain! Hair does not break down in water. I line my bathroom sink with paper towels as the lighting is best at that mirror. When done, clean up is easy. Sorry if this is warning is obvious but I am repeating what a plumber told me about hair and drains!)

The first time I cut my own hair, I was cautious and cut off an inch but it came out so good, two days later I did it again to the length I wanted. Good luck if you try this!
Pour 1 cup baking soda, and 1 cup vinegar down your drain. Let sit for a few minutes and then follow it with a kettle of boiling water. It should dissolve any clogs ( hair, grease, etc.)

In one sense I'm really genuinely glad I live in Canada BUT the reality is that the Delta numbers are increasing here too and as such I can see on line teaching etc. returning and mandatory masking being around for quite some time. I am Canadian, but also naturalized American 6 years ago. Spend my summers at the cottage in Canada but my permanent residence is in Florida. Going back only when it freezes up here… getting all my Christmas shopping done, hair cuts etc here in Canada. It is crazy having a foot in both worlds. I love living in Florida, love the ocean & they have the best state parks…but the consistent denial & the lack of public health safety makes my head spin. I once travelled overland going through Peshawar Pakistan towards the Khyber Pass … now I travel home to FL 😳

My work is shut down right now! Small business with about 18 employees total. Both of the owners (Husband/Wife), plus 3 other employees were having symptoms last Friday, and tested positive over the weekend. I found out on Monday morning, and was given the choice to work or not for the day. I chose to go home. Some employees stayed to finish as many orders as they could. The business officially closed down Tuesday. They are expecting to open on Tuesday Sept. 7th, BUT I hear both owners are in bad shape and may go to the hospital, and that was on Wednesday. So we could be closed even longer. I am vaccinated, and tested negative on Monday! Feeling 100%. My co workers that tested positive as far as I know were not vaccinated.

The owners of a small retail business in my town went into the hospital a week ago and both passed away after a few days on ventilators. Not sure what will happen with business. Our high school principal passed away the first day of school (which shut down a week later due to sick staff) 3 other family and friends passed away just last 2 weeks. This might not be serious all over country but certainly is in the south. It’s worse than last year I would assume because we were using some precautions. Of the 6 deceased all were under 60 and unvaccinated. That’s all I need to know about vaccines.

We (my family) never really stopped doing all the things to try to avoid it. We are all vaccinated and so far, all healthy. I work in a large teaching hospital. Although not front line in my current role, it's really hitting us here. I wish all the deniers could spend one day on a Covid ICU, just observing. This disease is wicked. Stay well.

We are in Florida Panhandle, and my husband and I have been vaccinated and we have never stopped wearing a mask. My husband has asthma, so we have been extra cautious.
I picked up the delta variant in Florida in July and I am fully aware too. Was awful for me with significant asthma

My girl works at a dental office in Massachusetts and they had a unvaccinated coworker catch covid and a vaccinated coworker catch covid. The company didn't shut down for a single day. I was in the building for a couple hours while they were there. I waited 5 days to get tested I've been vaccinated I tested negative. I waited the full 14 days and got a second test. Both of the co-workers who tested positive came back to work without getting a follow-up test. It has been a year-and-a-half and we still haven't figured out what quarantine means and how not to spread covid-19. Just a little reflection on the hubris of humanity and the lack of Ethics amongst business owners. If it doesn't affect their bottom line they don't care whether you live or die and whether or not their patients are ever informed of the risks they have undertaken

Completely share your healthy mistrust, and irritation with life endangering lack of full disclosure, and can’t dispute *any* of your comments about their political bias, but apart from recommending cloth masks earlier, as soon as the research started started showing airborne transmission, I’m not sure what they could have done differently. Imagine it must’ve been pretty terrifying to find the national stockpile their strategies relied on had been neglected by government, and the only people who could help the dying were perilously close to not having protection. More than a year on I still shiver at the situation we were all put in - competition for life preserving basics, and first responders relying on whatever bits and pieces of PPE could be found on places like Amazon, or cobbled together. Still outraged. But while I don’t have much time for the CDC, I’m pissed at a whole bunch of others too.

My dentist decided to retire 😔 a young kid barely old enough to be out of dental school bought his practice. Parents shouldn't view schools as free babysitting service. I'm glad my son is grown. I'm waiting for the booster to come out. I won't be going to the family reunion and eat the food everyone had stood over buffet style, the peeps in NC just won't get vaxxed or mask up even though they've had loved ones to die of covid. 🙄🤦

My daughter 9 years old tested positive for Delta COVID yesterday we live in Orlando FL she wears a mask in school and everywhere we go, but i see pictures of the children in her classroom not wearing masks. I'm not blaming the school but we her parents are vaccinated and now she has COVID we kept her COVID free for over 1.5 years and now she has it. My Wife works In the nail salon business she wears a mask and is vaccinated we both tested negative in our nasal cavity home test.

So right, I am a dental assistant &was exposed to a patient that was positive. My office Managers response was, I don't care!!!! Thank God I was negative!!! 🙏🙏
People don't care about others who are sick. They only care about their selves if they are sick. And some are very happy to make others sick just like they are. They sneeze knowing they are going to make others sick.
Protect yourself even if the office doesn't try to protect you. I work in a hospital, had to sit 1:1 with a patient, his temp was 102.2 and wouldn't budge even after they gave him phenogan suppositories!
After 3 days, the invisibles decided to test him for covid despite my begging the charge nurse 3 days earlier to test him. (I'm just a CNA, so I'm not supposed to know anything)
Turns out he was positive! That was before the vaccines were out. I was taking black elderberry, zinc, ect way before this started.
The patient ended up dying in ICU, four nurses who rotated caring for his meds and did bandage changes (post surgical) all those nurses ended up having covid, but the hospital REFUSED to test me because I guess since I was not an RN, I'm not important enough 🥺 thank goodness I take supplements, and as of January, I was fully vaxxed.
I'm a hygienist and we check temps and screen before letting a patient back. We've sent several home for various reasons. We do everything to not be exposed or expose patients.
I've worked with every other sickness I've had. I never missed a day of school. Cold medicine says you can't let a cold stop you. Can't be a wimpy thing. It's tantamount to changing religion for Americans to stay home from work unless having surgery. And then guilted and shamed then.

My husband works for a Senior resident facility that also has a building for assisted living here in Vermont, this place has not had 1 covid case because of strict protocols. 3 weeks ago they started testing all staff every Monday. (Vermont is averaging 100+ cases daily and we are almost 90% vaccinated). All employees and residents have to be vaccinated and they have gone back to "No vaccination, No entry" for everyone visiting, masks have always been worn. It gives me some peace of mind knowing that with all the practicle mitigation taking place and possible early detection if Delta shows its ugly head we can protect all the Seniors and the 6 grandchildren on our farm under age 9 and one coming this winter stays safe! Be safe!!!

He is 100% right about businesses not closing down when someone comes down with COVID. I work at Wahlburgers on the Las Vegas strip, we had 3 people come down with covid in the last two weeks, one supervisor, two servers, and they were sent home to quarantine, none of the other staff were notified, none of us, even if we worked with them recently. We weren’t asked to take a COVID test, so who knows who else is positive, maybe asymptotic. So far we are averaging about one case a week in our staff since about the beginning of July.
Moved to a new town. Needed a dentist just for general cleaning. Asked if all staff were vaccinated and they said we don’t require nor ask. I said no thank you to that practice. They are health care providers. My hair salon has better protocols

Since I have been vaccinated AND I just ended my bout with Covid around August 21st, I'm going to enjoy this weekend. The only remnant of ever having Covid, is no sense of smell. However, I did smell my 1st scent - chili. I think I'm going to make huge batch of chili over the weekend just so I can smell it. Of course, I'll eat but I'll enjoy smelling it more.

I live in Florida, where our Governor will never admit we are in crisis. Stores, shops, restaurants, attractions will stay open. Tourism will continually be promoted ( even though hospitals are packed, refrigerated trailers have to hold corpses, and funeral homes cannot keep up). Thank goodness many Superintendents have gone against DeSantis and mandated masks ( they & school boards will most likely be punished by losing their salaries).

Notice this spring visiting FDR park in Ga , Sunday most of the churches had empty lots. Doing online worship. Plenty of responsible Georgians. I weigh out the travel risk. My self and wife who is from Georgia are fully vaccinated.

In my area which is northwest Georgia not many people wear mask and go about like nothing is going on, the vaccination rate in the county I live in is only 37% so alot of people not vaccinated. This is not limited to service providers. Every COVID positive person I have known has been shopping and going out FULLY aware that they were positive. I move like everyone is COVID positive. Much like we were advised years ago when there was plenty talk about HIV.
While I personally disagree with mask mandates and forced vaccination, I DO agree with your approach. In my opinion, there is no other way to manage this. There is no single way to prevent all risk of getting sick…with any communicable illness, including this one. You will never be able to control all variables and certainly will not be able to control anyone outside of yourself. We have to move like everyone is COVID positive because they just might be….and how you choose to move is up to you. And in my opinion (and I will make a lot of people mad with this comment but I don’t care) We ALL need Jesus. There’s no getting out of this any other way.

There is a High School in my area they have shut down for a week 650 kids are infected and 25 teachers and staff .They do have a rule MASK in school but what happens when the kids are not in school is anyones guess !!!

Some have died because people believe the government your kids are safe but hurry up and run out and get the vaccine. My little Appalachian High Country, little college town here. Watauga County, North Carolina has invited Luke Combs, Country music bullshit ho him celebrity to perform this weekend. It’s Labor Day weekend. 32,000 expected to attend. Very few wearing masks as is. Our little hospital is overwhelmed. No breaks for the small numbers of doctors and staff to eat or go to the bathroom. It’s insane! My nephew has been working the COVID floors since the pandemic started. It’s hellish! Travel, commercial travel, party time mind sets. Crazy!

I had a crown fail April 2020. Went to dentist 6 times. Labs kept shutting down. Temporary crown fell off twice from long term use of it. I got Covid from the hygienists in August 2020. Sick 3 days. Extreme headache and fatigue. I asked if she had the virus and they would not answer me. Be careful!

I wear a surgical mask with an extra liner whenever I have to be indoors in public places...and don't go anywhere that I don't have to.
I've been cutting my own hair since I was young. Saved a lot of money that way.
I've put off the dental visits since March 2020 and I think that I can wait until next spring or summer, since I'm careful to keep my teeth clean and don't eat much sweets.
Unless your liner is an N-95 mask, you are basically unprotected.
@@Patrick_Ross When the pandemic first broke out in NY last year, cases of infection were very high in my area and nobody could get any N95 masks. I only had two surgical masks, but my nurse friend showed me how to tie them at the corners and tuck in and staple the sides so that there wouldn't be any gaps.
She also advised me to double up a good-quality paper towel, cut it so that it would fit well inside the mask and fit the wire tightly against the bridge of my nose. I did that and went through a couple of months wearing the same two masks...alternating with leaving one in the sunlight and fresh air to disinfect while I used the other one...until I was able to buy a box of surgical masks and filters...and some KN95s from Korea.
Was a little hard to breathe at first, but I got used to it. I need reading glasses, so the way I could tell that my setup was working was that they didn't fog...and the masks would go in and out when I breathed.
I'm not paranoid about this virus...just sensibly cautious. Got the J&J vaccine in April this year and continued to wear my masks even when the morons in our health agencies said that it was OK to take them off. I'll probably still continue to wear them for the rest of my life when colds and flu are going around in winter. Nice not to be sick and miserable for a couple of weeks with a bug that you catch from some slob that sneezes and doesn't bother covering his/her mouth...even if you don't get hospitalized or die..

One year, I got the bug before he did...and sneezed on him to make him sick. Gave him a really bad case of the crud...and he had the balls to blame me. I told him that if he didn't like people sneezing on him, then he shouldn't do it to others. Anyway, I quit in the spring and started working by myself as a gardener...and didn't have to put up with that kind of shit ever again...and I made better money. 😄
My grandma grew up in eastern Europe in the late1800s. When she was a young girl, typhoid fever swept through her village and killed four of her brothers and sisters. She almost died...and lost all of her hair because her fever was so high...so I take diseases very seriously. If she had died, I wouldn't have been here.

I am starting to think the same . I am mostly staying home when I have to go somewhere all the store and restaurant parking lots are full .I have relatives vacationing and flying this weekend. I feel like I am living a different reality than most with all my common sense safety practices.

There's a lot of doctors beginning to suggest (Dr. John Campbell one of them) that herd immunity is not going to happen with vaccination at this point and everyone is going to be exposed eventually, no matter what we do. The focus stat should not be cases at this point, but deaths and hospital utilization.
Which is exactly why we vaccinate, but other behavioral alterations aren't going to do very much at this point.
I live in rural America..I never did like crowds or people in general..I have my farm animals and my beautiful young filipino wife..I also have my big screen smart TV and lots of Jack Daniels stashed..hehe..I have lots of freeze dried food and lots of water filters..I have lots of guns and ammo..both my wife and I are expert marksmen and x military..my nearest neighbor is a mile away..guess I am luckiest man alive..and most of all I am the happiest I have ever been in my life.. PRICELESS!!..I feel so sorry for City people but everyone lives where they are happiest I guess 🤔🤔🤗😀
