I have PCOS and aggressive endometriosis, which requires surgery every two years and has caused hormonal acne that my dermatologist couldn't control with ANY medication or treatment including Tretinoin. However, I discovered the Reedle shot about three months ago, and incorporating that with tretinoin since then has me free from any kind of acne, including hormonal acne. Last month I had three surgeries due to endometriosis and in the past just the sheer stress of surgeries caused my hormonal acne to flare up like no other and required antibiotics to control it. But this time I have ZERO acne. Being in my 30s I am not worried about foreign body granulomas showing up in another 60 years so I am willing to take my chances with this product because everything else has failed me. Also, the company stated very clearly that the reedles shed from our skin within 72 hours. If you choose not to believe that because of ONE doctor's opinion then that's up to you. This is my personal experience so don't come for me.
I’m glad you had positive results. I just started using the 100 strength of this product.
Every woman on my mother’s side has had endo. I am so very sorry that you have had such horrible suffering with it.
How do you use this with tretinoin?
Hoping the side effects doesn't happen to you sooner.
@@genshinF2Play … why?
Hi Dr. Dray,
I am a user of reedle-shot and I came across your video where you mentioned silica granulomas. This raised some concerns for me, so I decided to look into the matter further.
Based on my research, there seems to be some disagreement regarding the potential for silica granulomas to develop from using reedle shot. Here are some key points to consider:
1. Crystalline vs. Non-crystalline(Amorphous) Silica
Silica can be either crystalline or non-crystalline. The majority of studies linking silica exposure to granulomas have focused on crystalline silica.
2. Synthetic Crystalline Silica and Granulomas
There is evidence regarding the development of granuloma from inhaling synthetic silica, but reedle shot is not a product designed for inhalation through the nose, nor could it be.
3. Toxicity of Non-crystalline(Amorphous) Silica
There is currently limited research on the toxicity of non-crystalline silica, and no studies have specifically linked it to granuloma formation.
4. Non-crystalline Nature of Reedle-shot Spicules
The spicules in reedle-shot are made from non-crystalline silica derived from the skeletons of marine sponges. Therefore, their potential to cause granulomas is considered to be much lower compared to crystalline silica.
I believe it is premature and irresponsible to connect the use of reedle-Shot with silica granuloma. As an expert, if my opinion is incorrect, I would appreciate it if you could provide evidence linking the use of spicule or the application of non-crystalline(amorphous) silica on skin to cases of silica granuloma.
I mean, she said she is a bit paranoid and wants to be safe than sorry, and wants to see more research on this matter
She did not say that Reedle would cause granulomas, she was using the granulomas as an example of how silica embedded in the skin can react, even years later.
It might not happen with Reedle but since spicules are a new treatment without information on long-term side effects I cannot fault her for being cautious.
It’s irresponsible to insinuate that with her platform though without any evidence but hearsay..
@@catmoon7594 I disagree, her voicing her potential health concerns about an unresearched product is actually really responsible. Anyone saying that they know that it is safe is the irresponsible one.
It is the opposite of irresponsible. She said she wants to see more long term safety data before she would recommend it. That's what a professional should say.@@catmoon7594
Never heard of them, but thanks for shedding light on the subject. Not that I’m going to be trying it at my age, but never to old to learn something new.
I JUST heard about this today from a Korean influencer and added it to my cart to potentially try. I’m so glad you uploaded this video today!
Ugh I love your reviews. Thank you for going the extra mile and getting into the data with us
Really good to hear your voice on this product. This is the first issue with the hyped Korean skincare wave.
Have a great week Dr Dray.
I was PRAYING you talked about this I was so interested in it, and googled what happened to the sponge bits but no answers anywhere so I’m so glad you explained it
There’s many people in the comments who are saying: don’t worry!!! Their own WEBSITE says they expel themselves from the skin!!! And given very little information on them, I’d take that with a grain of salt
@@bucky7505yea like they also said fillers dissolve completely in 1 year and now we know they don’t. I’ll pass on this one, especially since I have some autoimmune diseases
Thank you for this great & much needed information! Have a great week!❤️
I’m so glad you released a video on this! I’ve been so close to pulling the trigger on this and now I can finally take it off my list.
Thank you so much for this. I was waiting for your review and opinion. You are awesome and always honest. Love your values Dr dray !
I have been curious a lot for reedle shot but it is getting viral a lot in Korea and Japan. Becuase they said it has discrimination with other products using specialized techniques! I also bought on amazon and saw the dramatic improvement in good way honestly.
Finally 😊 I was eagerly waiting for this review! Thank you Dr Dray ☺️
One request: Can you please review Korean & Japanese Beauty Awards winner products of 2023?
I’ve been waiting for you to review this for so long. 😭 You’re the only reviewer I’ve seen that’s addressed “how do the spicules get out of the skin/do they dissolve?” Not even the brand has addressed it, which is the scariest part. Qure Microinfusion review next please, a lot of dermatologist are endorsing it and would love to hear your thoughts. 🙂
maybe they are removed when you wash your face?
One of the reviews I watched stated they asked parent company and the spicules will be sloughed off with your exfoliated skin.
@@gabiiibarricatti8999 If you are patting/tapping it into your skin like how I’m assuming it’s intended application for it is (based off how I see everyone applying it), the circular motions of washing your face doesn’t seem like it would dislodge them (unless they are sticking out of your skin) and maybe further push them in. 😕 And it’s not clear if the VT Reedles dissolve.
I also read that spicules dissolve within 72 hours. So there isn’t any damage to your skin. But I guess all skin types react differently to it.
Am anxious for an honest review on the Qure Microinfusion system, especially for those of us battling melasma. I see other Dermatologists endorse it, and kind of dismiss the concerns regarding triggering melanocytes. It’s confusing.
Thank you for your true and honest opinion! That’s why I stay watching your videos ❤
I was also sent the advent calendar to review but have not used it yet! Thank you for clarifying.
Thank you for this. I'm so glad I watched this.
I shared apartment with a classmate during my uni years. One day, she started to have tiny bumps on the forehead. It went from just a few to literally no free space in about a couple months. When she barely touched them to cleanse her face, she felt painful neddles. Everybody said "Nah, deep pimples, they' ll mature, just wait." Getting an appointment with a pro derm for "a forehead break out" in the early 90' s? Sci-fi🤷🏻♀️. When she couldn' t stand the pain anymore, suddenly, one of the bumps spat a sharp crystal. It turned out that she had have a motorcycle accident 3 years ago and that micro pieces of broken glass had been living under her skin until the body was able to push them into the surface. This memory came into my mind at the speed of light when I knew about the spicles. What the hell can happen after x, y or z amount of time? 🤔😕...
If you are wondering how the story ended, once her body expelled hundreds of pieces for months, she treated her terrible scars with ATO glycolic at 384% because she was lucky enough to have a family who could afford it in the pre-microneedling and laser era.
🧛🏻♀️🖤
Oh poor girl, that must have been so painful & scary! Glad her family had resources so she could finally heal. And def absolutely not with the spicules, my tender skin can’t take it
What an absolute nightmare!
That's scary
Great story ….. my 1st instinct of seeing the spicules lotion video was “helllllll nooo…..”
Thank you for sharing the story
thank you so much! I was seriously considering this and have been watching several great reviews until I saw yours!!
Oh I saw this advertised the other day. Was very doubtful. Thank you Dr Dray.
Love dr. Dray so much! Literally searching for a quality review from qualified ones and here we are!
And this is how a good and thoughtful review looks like. Thank you!
Theres a line you do not cross! Love your honesty ❤️ 😊
Thank you, Dr. Dray great information. I appreciate it.
i was waiting for you to talk about this!! thank you for this video
this was my gut feeling as well. Thank you for your honesty
Me too! I put it in my cart yesterday and decided to do a little more research .
Thank you for all the 411. I always learn a lot from you, please keep up the good work!
the sponge spicules are very common in facials in Korea. I had a lot of facials with them with a high concentration back in 2017. It helped drastically reduce my scarring and acne and even helped my boyfriend with his pitted cystic acne scars. I actually interned at a company that does the facials and sells at-home kits with a lower concentration. I have never had anyone come forward with an adverse or foreign body reaction. I wish there were more studies to prove this though. But if you have already tried this product please feel a bit safer knowing my experience. Do try in the future with caution.
Thank you so much for this! I think the reason why a lot of koreans have really great skin is how advanced their products and treatments. I have pitted scars and do monthly microneedling and was thinking of buying VT reedle shot. Im now convinced with your comment and the other one who is a Polymer scientist.
And in Russia as well. It’s actually a powder, mix with water and put directly on the skin, clears up pigmentation.
People won’t care because going by these comments if it’s not American made/ approved by an American entity they think it’s scary. That’s their right of course. But I think it’s a bit dramatic to call this “terrifying”
Lip fillers and subscision is terrifying. Saint Ives scrub is terrifying. It’s no wonder Asian skincare is years ahead of the west
Correlation ain’t equals causation.
Thank you for reviewing- taking this off my to-try list!
Thank you so much for this video!! I was super curious about this product but wanted to understand more about how it would actually work
Just thank you Dr. Dray. You're a true healthcare angel for those of us who don't have it or can't afford it.
Thank you for this! I don't think you're paranoid, for the record. I appreciate that we can get informed opinions from actual medical doctors like this because you've laid out the info for us, explained why you're cautious, and then left it up to us to decide whether to use the product or not.
I was really excited about this product. I kept it on my wishlist for a while now, but you are one of the few content creators who I actually trust. So...I guest I will try pro microneedling instead.
thank you so much for making this video and hearing an opinion from someone who is qualified. I'll stick with my chemical peels.
This is great, very informative and really helpful!
I"ve been using this for over a week along with tretenoin and I've had zero issues. It is a bit tingly but nothing uncomfortable. As a former skin care professional I wouldn't say be terrified of the product but I appreciate your thoughts and everyone's skin is different :)!. I am 54 years old with menopausal/hormonal skin and it's made a difference so far as far as texture and helping even out my skin tone ...I will definitely buy again :)
are you using the 100? 300? 700?
@@awesomepuppy215 the 300.. My hair dresser and another person in the salon asked what I was using on my skin because they said it was glowing haha. I also use the Vitamin C moisturizer by the same brand AM and PM it is simply awesome :).. My skin is mature yet pretty tough. If you're sensitive I would start with the 100 :)
Same here, I have zero issues with the product, also using Medik8 retinol cream.

So true, Uncle Charlie. It's sad really. I hope you had a fantastic day. Happy Monday!! Peace, joy and many blessings, my friend. 🙏🕊☕
This was very informative. Thank you for the truth. I agree with you on all that was said.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Dr. Dray. Just another reason I don't trust many other influencers/reviewers hyping up this product.
i was waiting for this!!! im so worried about the complications that may arise from this!
Love this product, it changed my skin and I get incredible compliments. I will continue buying it.
Thank you Dr. Dray! I’m planing to buy it. Your review help me to make my decision.
thx for sharing. I wanted to order this today and now I am thinking if I still try it out because I am curious or wait a little bit to see if new research or longterm reviews come out. Defintely greatful that you mentioned potential risks and not only hype up the product like everybody else.
I’m glad you reviewed this! I was literally researching (watching UA-cam videos) this product earlier this week. This product was actually already in my Amazon cart! I think what caught my eye & hooked me in was the quick results. But now that you’ve explained the possible problems that may come with this product I’ve changed my mind about buying it…Thank you for de-influencing me to buy this, Dr. Dray!
A few months ago, a popular UA-cam plastic surgeon was also weary of this product and cautioned that the spicules could remain in the skin and cause damage years later just as fillers do, so I removed it from my Amazon cart.
@@mkryuit's scary right?? I almost buy last week but knowing my sensitive skin can't handle this even the 50 mark. and I should be grateful where my skin condition is right now. it's not bad but once you indulge this type of product, you always want more

Hello & Good morning, Dr. Dray. Happy Monday and Presidents Day ❤
The response i got from VT cosmetics is that the Micro-CICA Reedle falls out within 2-3 days with facial washing, as stated on the website. The website is mostly in korean, it'll be great if someone could look into the website to learn about the technology.
Thank you for the wise review,as a professional you have insight and experience which amateur beauty bloggers lack. Working in research I met too many reports on simple things we use daily and don't observe, but do cause issues. And it also depends on each one's body reaction. Like silica in instant coffee or titania in candies 😔
Literally was searching for a dr dray review on this product before buying it a week ago. Glad the delivery is taking forever so I saw this before putting it on my face. Thanks Dr Dray!
Thank you for reviewing. ❤
As long as you’re making videos, I’ll be watching!
Got a few sponge spicule treatments and they changed my skin for the better. Hyperpigmentation and acne. It’s just not extensively researched but such naturally found ingredient has lots of potentials if used right. Looking forward to seeing more people experimenting and researching it.
Happy Monday Dr Dray!
Thank you Dr. Dray you’re the best !
Thank you for your review on this product. What you said makes sense and has helped me decide if to use or not.
Omg , i just saw another channel hyping this up a couple days ago and i thought "Ive got to ask Dr Dray about this!" . Have u done a review of Qure , the disposable microneedling kit? Other YT derms have endorsed its use. Your channel is awesome!
I'm also curious about Qure - every other YT ad is about it! 😊
I've seen at least one esthetician who's not convinced and she microneedles at home with different devices. She even suggested a different type of stamper in her video.
@@db-gb5xithink I might know which one you mean I just don't think this is a good idea unless you have a sterile environment and clean skin. Administered by a doctor.
@@traceykoontz2868 no one is microneedling in a sterile environment, not even doctors. Microneedling isn’t performed in an operating room - they don’t even use a sterile field or sterile gloves. This isn’t surprising really as even injections aren’t performed with sterile gloves and an alcohol swab is sufficient to prep the skin. That being said, I do think education and correct technique and sanitation is really important for microneedling.
Your guidance with this product is appreciated. I had a feeling this might not be for me and your video confirmed my concerns.
thanks Dr Dray for sharing your thoughts on this. I have the vt reedle shot 100 , been using it for a couple of weeks now. I only use it every other day as I feel it sensitizes my skin. Hopefully the company comes up with safety studies on this one in the future as it seems to be a promising product
So glad you posted this! I was just getting ready to order this but I think I’ll hold off for the time being. If your thoughts on this product / spicules change please do keep us updated!
Thank you for giving more in depth about this product! I was looking for someone who can explain how those needles in this bottle work 🙂 and you did it. 👍👍👍
Definitely good to know there is virtually no research into the effects of the spicules and foreign body reactions! Thanks so much for this video, Dr.Dray. I was seeking this out after some other big skinfluencers were raving about it… and I just assumed there was data to warrant the hype. Alas… I think I’ll stick to my tretinoin etc.
Thank you Dr. Dray! ✨❤✨
In 10-15 years I'll still be watching, Dr. Dray! I'm here for the long haul! 😂
Amazing channel. Dr Dray, you have my full respect for this post. I’ve been a follower for 4 years or maybe earlier, but never felt so proud to follow a social media channel until now. Youre so unbiased and your stand on dermatology and beauty is very commendable ❤❤❤❤❤❤

Thank you so much for this review, Dr. Dray. I came very close to purchasing this product last week and you just saved me money...again! 🙂
Good information. I think it is important to get informed about new technology and truly useful.
I’ve been using it in the mornings followed by Dear Klair’s vitamin c for a couple weeks now and haven’t had any problems whatsoever, though I understand your concerns. I probably won’t repurchase it since I haven’t noticed any crazy awesome changes in my skin texture
I remember when Dr. Dray reviewed some of the Korean sunscreens and noticed how the ones she reviewed only had two filters and might not actually have SPF 50. Fast forward a few months from that we got the whole sunscreen scandal, which led many brands to reformulate their sunscreens. I was just about to purchase this product but definitely skipping it for now! Thank you Dr. Dray!!
I think about that video at least once a month! Still impresses me how she casually noted that something seemed off about the limited number of filters several months prior to everything hitting the fan
A lot of Korean stuff that the west knows are literally not even known in actual Korea. Many are also outdated old technology and ingredients. You need to really follow actual Koreans or ones that live or work in Korean beauty industry.

longterm safety was the exact concern that stopped me from placing an order. the fact that the hydrolysed sponge gets in together with the cica and other ingredients makes me uncomfortable - we wouldn't leave needles in our skin after every injection, why would we want an accumulation of sponge in it from regular skincare application?
So glad a specialist is finally talking about it! I felt sceptical about it and it turns out for a reason! The whole idea of a product like that equals to rubbing your face with glass wool IMO.

Hey Dr Dray. What do you think about those liquid multivitamin supplements with Lustriva in them? I was taking the Mary Ruth morning multivitamin and I got a bit of acid reflux from it (unbuffered citric acid and ascorbic acid and zinc). Do you think it’s worth continuing?
I am so glad you made this video. I had the exact same reaction as you regarding the spicules in this product. Even though tiny, the don’t dissolve so may imbed into the skin. I did not intend to use it and will not take the chance to use it. Time will tell……
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼thank you for sharing your discernment ❤
I use this product, the 100 version. I really enjoy it, overtime the tingling gets less harsh. I actually got compliments on my skin.
I’m happy your experience is good. We all are. Unfortunately it doesn’t mean anything for us though
@Tanovah I understand, we have different skin. What works for me won't work for you, what works for you means nothing to someone else. Best thing to do is listen to pros and cons and try it for yourself.
Yeah, but does that because of this one?😂 I guess you are taking care of skin in general, and also using many product along with this one as well.
I'm obviously not the OP but since you seem to be implying that it must be something else they are using, I can say for me *personally,* improvements have been seen only with the addition of the 100 reedle version of this product. I have changed nothing other than adding it and have had others commented that my skin was looking good.
I do not have good skin. I have cystic acne, melasma, and sensitive skin that tends to peel even if it's not irritated. The product does not claim to treat acne, but I have found at the very least that it has reduced it and what's more apparent to me is how quickly my zits have recovered. I had 2 that had just exploded the day before I started using it, which always leaves me with an open wound and really red marks that take a long time to fade. I've only been using it about a week but I only got one budding cyst yesterday that absolutely should be on fire right now, but it actually backed off and now I just feel the slight bump where it was. That just doesn't happen for me. Ever. If I am starting to get one, it's coming whether I like it or not, and no microdart patch or topical is going to prevent it. Maybe it's what actives are in the lotion, or maybe the reedles are helping my usual skincare absorb better, but something has definitely changed since I started using it.
@@brbsnortingcatnipis it painful at all when you apply it?

I was waiting for you to review this since getting it in the advent calendar and in my haste I got the reedle shot 300.
