Durability doesn’t apply to so many golfers…I lose a ball every game…sometimes more sometimes less.
I lost 6 today. RIP to the fallen😂
@@cookiegunner330only 6.. those are rookie numbers
at times I can lose a ball each tee... sometimes more sometimes less
And durability matters less when you can purchase 5 Kirkland’s for every prov1 😂
It also doesn't really affect your shots. Scuffs or not the ball will generally play the same from only a days worth of playing 1 ball. If you make it thru 18 with one ball haha.
I’ve played with Kirkland for a year. Typically a ball lasts a whole round then I sling it in the secondary bag for practice chipping. They are soft and if I knife the ball it does leave a big indent, but overall I’ve been happy with them. I’m a 4 handicap and not bothered if I lose a few yards as I’m not playing 7000+ yard courses so not needing every last yard out of a shot. Most important they feel great round the green and the fact they are a third of the cost of similar balls, it’s a no brainer in my eyes
Loved the review. Nice to see the V3 better for distance. For me I'm not too worried about cover issues and I tend to lost some during a round so It works out cheaper for me over the higher priced balls
Glad to see you finally got your hands on some of the V3, and enjoyed your review. They are a bit firm for my taste, but I played them for most of this past season and was very pleased with the performance. Along the way, I discovered that losing 1-2 balls per round completely eliminated any durability issues. Can't argue with $27.99/2 Dozen!
good video Matt, would love to see a review on the Wilson balls.
been usin Wilson balls on and off as trying to find a ball that suits my game at the moment (currently using Srixon) so would love to see a review on various brands of balls that are at a lower cost that can still compete with the bigger golf ball brands
Great video Matt, I am currently playing the Wilson Triad ball and I love it, distance is a little down on what I would get with a Pro v 1 or TP5 but the spin around the greens is awesome and the feel off the putter is buttery soft. Overall it is a good ball for the price, durability is also an area where it falls down I find that I am using on average 2 balls per round. Looking forward to your thoughts on it.
Thanks for the review, Matt! Kirkland V3: A Duffer’s Delight!
I've switched to the Wilson Triad this year and would love to see your review of them. My home course has tiny raised greens and I need something that spins and sticks with the short irons.
With the bunker test it would help to see a pro v taking the bunker test at the same time to do an exact comparison
I agree, a side by side test is the only way to be sure that the pro V is better.
Yeah let's see the Wilson ball too I like seeing how different brands stack up personally I have been playing the vice tour ball could you do a comparison on the vice tour and vice pro plus and maybe see how they both stack up to the prov1 I would be very interested in that one vice is a nice middle ground I think with price vs quality
I used these for the first time on the weekend in a competition at my local. I usually use a Pro V1. I have never used these in the past and received a packet for Christmas. The conditions were hot, muggy and moist on course. I was pleasantly surprised with the feel. I personally found I lost a bit of distance & couldnt get a handle on numbers for irons, especially mid-long irons that either fell out of the sky short, or sailed the green long when I went up a club. Maybe the conditions, caught a flyer etc. I'd need to play more and when a bit less humid and drier. My chips/pitches is where I noticed not as much check on greenside shots. Putted really nicely and I used the ball for the whole round, without any noticeable damage, no shots out of bunkers, we have plenty but I managed to miss them. I was pleasantly surprised and would continue to use them, but I think my kids may get them as I have 48, I dont want to use them through proper tournament season but for off season and practise these are good.
Thanks for this Matt. My wife actually gave gifted me a dozen of the Yellow Version 3 balls for Christmas this year. I live in the Carolina's where winter golf can be hard with all the leaves being on the ground, even in the fairway. Needless to say, the yellow ball worked really great. I did notice it was a bit harder than version 2. Felt like a X ball for sure, but worked really well. Also, yes please test the Triad ball, I am interested in your findings.
After watching lots of videos from you and your colleagues i decided to buy a box of the Kirkland V3 balls. A little firmer than balls I’ve played in the past but for the money a great ball.
Tried the Wilson triad ones last year and did enjoy them! Very similar performance to pro V1 for me.
Review wilson. Great review. Matt what ball do you play
I play the Kirkland 3.0 golf balls during fall and winter. Leaves can hide balls even on good shots, then on top of that a lost ball. During late spring and all summer, I am using either Vice Pro or Srixon Z star golf balls. Here lately Vice Pro more than any other ball. My driver club head speed is around 105 - 110 mph.
will try them and see thanks
Great review Matt. I find the Kirkland gives me straighter flights (not always in middle of fairway but that’s me) as well as comparable distance to ProV1. However, agree with many of the comments that durability is not a huge issue. First, majority of golfers lose a couple balls per round so that counteracts durability. Second, if I hit more than a couple bunker shots then I have a bigger problem than ball durability. For tournament and low handicap players maybe an issue, but even then not sure. Again, appreciate your analysis.
Hi Matt
I have tried both the 2.0 Kirkland and the Triad balls and finally went with the 2.0 because I tend to lose balls before they wear out.
Don't get me wrong, I thought the triad was a fantastic balls and I would definitely use them more often.
Normally I play the Wilson staff model golf ball as love them and can normally can get them for a decent price brand new compared to a Pro V1. However in winter I tend to play Kirkland’s as due to leaves mud etc I tend to lose a few more balls. I will say even with my swing speed around the 100mph I notice myself a little drop of distance when playing the Kirkland with the driver. Therefore very happy that the v3.0 have solved this issue and will be looking to get my hands on them as soon as possible!!!!
Please do a review on the triad as I have just started using them and I love them. I have played kirklands and durability a big issue but I also play srixon q star.
Wow... So suprised to see so many comments on the Wilson Triad. I'm a big fan of the Wilson Staff Model ball (I've always managed to get good deals of around €2.50/ball) ... A high compression ball that is similar in performance to a Titleist ProV1x but that after 1 round of play cannot be distiguished fom a new ball. In fact, after 3 rounds it has the same aspect as a Prov1 after one. I've yet to try the Triad....I have a couple of balls to try, and now that the temperature has dropped and a 97 compression ball may seriously damage your wrists if caught thin, i'll put them to the test!
Great review. Please test the Triad
Would love to see you test the Triad and see how it compares to the Kirkland and the pro v
I'd like to see a review of the triad (and also the wilson staff model ball)
Another one to test, if you can get them in England, is the Maxfli Tour and Tour x. I have really liked them so far.
I recently switched to Wilson Triad. Luv it.
Great review as always, Matt!
I really wanted the Kirklands to work for my game. As a high handicapper, I lose my fair share of golf balls. Unfortunately these just spin like mad for me off the tee so even a slight outside in swing results in a massive slice. I ended up going with the Maxfli Tour X from Dick's Sporting Goods. 4 dozen for $120 is still a great value...just not quite the value of the Kirklands.
great review Matt, if you do a Triad review could you possibly include the Staff model ball too as a direct compare between them as well :D
I took the leap a few months back and get the model staff balls there fantastic ...i got 3 dozen for 76 quid bargain and trust me there better them then terrible Kirkland's i thought they were terrible tbh....spend a few quid more it's worth it
@petekenny3774 oh yeah I bought a load at the start of the year and haven't used much else besides the staffs. The durability is unreal I think
Hi Matt, would love to see you test the Wilson triad. Cheers mate.
I’ve got a thing about Wilson balls at the minute, the matt finish Duo Optix seems to be really well behaved at the minute, just ordered 20 red lake balls for winter……
A test on the different finishes on balls I would love to know the difference 🤷♂️👌
Would like to see the Wilson test Sir. Wilson also has the Zips that are comparable in price to the Kirkland. Once again thank you Sir
I've played the Kirkland ball for a number of years and I've never had an durability issues. The ball I'm currently hitting will be starting it's second round this afternoon and I've just checked it and there's no issues with it. I'm more likely to lose a Kirkland than need to change it. I think the best I've done with one is 3 rounds before I needed to change it.
Well done matt 👏 😊
Hi Matt, when I tested them the Triad Raw was better than Triad. It was the most consistent ball I found, giving straighter flight and straighter putts than any painted ball.
I found the Triad felt like a Chromesoft. Just a bit too soft for me, but flight and stopping were nice. Certainly a nice ball if softer feel is desirable.
Mat for the Mid to high handicap player do you think the durability issue would be as significant as for someone with your swing speed?
I tried the Wilson triad earlier this year and they were not terrible, I just didn’t get anything extra out of them. I’m currently using Callaway Chrome Soft 360 triple track and really enjoying them. I’m also going to try Taylormade Tour Response this winter.
I moved from Kirkland to Tour response and love them. So much more durable
I lost a full club length on my irons with the Kirkland balls. I'm back to Pro V1's or Taylor Made TP5, or Srixon Z Star, all good for distance and feel.
Similar here. They are great chipping and putting practice balls.
Love the Kirkland. On my soft muni conditions, they are great and very comparable to Pro Vs
I've been playing Kirkies for a few years now with a random different ball every few rounds. I've played a few rounds with the Triad now and absolutely love it. Such a premium feel but also not far behind the proV price tag. If Wilson put the triad in the $28-$33 price range it would be a no brainer. At $39-$40 it is competing with the big boys.
I found 18 of the v1 version at an op shop for $20 - I like them and please do the Wilson
Hey Matt, play a couple of rounds with the Kirkland ball to see if you do in fact have to chance balls due to damage.
Play the Kirklands most of the time. I also play Vice Pros once in a while
Iv never bought them (im not costco enabled) but... everytime i find one i play it . I play off 5 and would always choose a prov if money wasnt an issue. But comparison to the pro v is minimal distance is the same , spin is the same , feel is the same.
I play a lot of found balls, have played Kirkland V2 and won a comp so obviously OK for me. ProV1, callaway, TP5’s find most of the balls the same except for Srixon, it’s the one brand I cannot get more than a few holes played before I have sent it out of bounds
I use these balls and even though I'm not very good I do enjoy using them.
When are these balls going to be available in the uk
I find Kirkland golf balls all over my home course all the time.
Definitely worth reviewing the Triad.
You should test the top 3 premium golf balls that have been under water for a couple days, then hit immediately and a couple days later
i never have durability issues with these because i dont swing super hard and dont go in the bunkers very often. therefore, incredible product for me
I use what comes out of the bag. Used Kirkland no problem, as long as they don’t cut, and they don’t.
Triad ball feels Great, goes Straight… but they were 10 yrds shorter than the Srixon XV and Chrome Soft X…with driver.
Durability flies out the window (or off the fairway) when it comes to most amateur golfers. Even if you get by using 2 or 3 a round then you're quids-in with these. It's little other than brand-snobbery that will force some to carry on hitting pricey Pro-V1's into the woods!
I'm not a great golfer but I find some of the "cheaper" premium balls are not built like a ProV1/Srixon. In Canada Wilson Staff Model are on sale for $43CDN/Dozen. ProV1 are $73CDN/dozen (same store). The Wilson Staff are quite good and worth a look.
Would love to see Triad review
Most spot on review of the new Kirkland balls. I felt the V2 was a little softer than the V3. I think the cover on the V2 was actually better than the V3. The original V2 (Green and silver box) had more durability issues than any of them.
The Kirkland ball is much a brighter white ball. Easier to spot in rough and holds up decent enough to get through a round. And if you lose one, it doesn’t bother me. In the US, they are $28 for two dozen still.
Kirkland makes best overall substitute for pro V for cost and performance. Nothing else comes even close.
Yeah I love how bright they are. In comparison to a prov1 it makes them look slightly yellow
@@thebikepackingadventurer and now they are available in neon color yellow online too.
@@treker34 I always find those fandoms coloured balls in. Winter even harder to find 😂
Matt - you are probably playing pretty fresh wedges with razor grooves and of course durability would suffer?
Please review the Wilson’s. Cheers
Without going and getting a Costco card, I think the Wilson Triad are the balls that I’d buy with my own money. Great performance and feel for £10-£15 less than the bigger golf brands.
They're $28 for 24 balls now. Picked up 4 dozen. Great golf ball....best buy out there by far. No contest.
Got some as a gift, was like wth, then I played with them. Damn, was impressed for a cheaper option.
Lets face it I hope you don't get into that many bunkers in a round.. It is not only the club that scuffs up the balls but the sand or crushed marble ..I use them and they never give me that problem
test the wilson please Matt
Version 2 was an improvement over version 1, with durability being much worse, out of bunkers especially. Version one didn't take much to scuff up, even if you avoided the bunkers, but version 2 did keep its cover much better after general play. Will be testing the new Neon yellow balls very soon. Great test though Matt. Have played the Triad and the Model. 2 balls the competition need to be afraid off. Two of the best 3 and 4 piece balls on the market. Well worth testing by everyone who wants a good premium ball, for less money, not as cheap as a Kirkland but still cheaper than the Pro V, which in my opinion will lose its top spot soon, especially, if more people try the Wilson balls mentioned.
Durability was my main issue with V2. Didn't even need to be a bunker shot. If I was 100yards and in and hit a wedge, I was cleaning urethane out of my grooves and retiring the ball after that hole. 2 holes was about all I could get out of a ball, just not playable.
Brad, I have tried the v3 option... The cover issues are less than any ball I have seen.. On par with srixon and tpx 5..
Lets see the wilson triad review. Thanks
V2 ball just back in stock online at Costco. Are V3 In store yet as not online
In the USA, Costco only has the V3 in white and neon yellow online now. V2's aren't available anymore.
Day/video 6 you need to lemme get that Evnroll bro
Yeah, let's see the Wilson Triads. Kinda disappointed in the durability of the Kirkland v3.
Does it perform better in windy conditions than the V2?
No
Just stay out of bunkers is what I’m getting from this review!
Wilson... oh yeah !!!!
They of course will sell but their lack of construction consistency and lack of availability prevents anyone from putting them in their bag consistently. They buy extra production from factories so each batch is different from the previous version and that difference can be huge.
Which ball can survive your bunker test?
My wedge game isn't that crisp. I've used the Yellow ball for 27 holes with only Minor scuffing which you would get on ANY urethane covered ball.
Buying these at Costco w/ membership they come to about $1.20 USD per ball 👍🏻
I thought the Kirkland was terrible. Pxg ball scuffs easy also. They are made in the same factory in Vietnam
@@bradleystuart8608 my golf spy said if you want to beat your friends on weekend give them a Kirkland ball
Do the Wilson please
Kirkland v3 is a win. I'll lose at least 3 or 4 a round. So, durability isn't much an issue. But I will get the performance or close to of a prov 1 and save myself $10+ each round not losing a prov 1.
Review them Matt
Have tried the kirklands and they wont last 6 holes, sounds like they still have same problem so I won't try these, since that was my beef with the others.
@@bradleystuart8608 it is not the driver that causes the issue, if you hit a couple of crisp iron shots the cover just won't hold up. I am 70 years old so it isnt swing speed and I am short so have to keep it in play.
@@bradleystuart8608 I just know that I have played the Kirkland balls and they are not near as durable as others that I play, its ok that you have no problems with them, I am only stating that they dont last for me. They end up looking just like the one he showed in the video. Yes I play Ping G425 irons but I dont have this issue with other balls I play, only Kirkland. its ok that they dont work for me but they do for you.
I have found the odd Kirkland ball and must say it is a decent ball.
Yup agree with other comments here. Unless you're a brilliant golfer, you're gonna lose balls every round, so durability is not a biggy. Also Matt, you hit 10 bunker shots and compared that to a round. I know what a good player you are and i know you would not hit 10 shots out of a bunker in one round. So your comment that you could use up to three balls a round is hard to accept
Think it’s all down to how many balls you lose & handy cap. For me, pro v1 just isn’t justified. The Kirkland, I can lose a few & it’s not a worry. So durability is not a problem.
If you use fresh wedges, you aren't getting 18 holes out of a pro V1.
Still waiting for them to hit the shelves!!
I don't expect any ball to be usable after 10 bunker shots. It would take me at least 5 rounds to go in 19 bunkers.
Triad deserves a video. Great ball. Robot tested to be the straightest ball in golf. Feels and plays like a Pro V1 for $15 dollars less.
I've been gaming the Triad for a few months now. Feels awesome when chipping and putting, so much short game spin, plenty of durability and a reasonable price!
Would love to hear Matts review of them
I like to support my club's pro shop so until they are sold there I wont be trying them out.
Nice looking ball though...
There have actually 4 versions of the Kirkland golf ball, the original version 1 was a four piece. This is the version that gave it the title PRO V killer, the reason being that Titlest took Kirkland to court trying to get it banned claiming it was a copy of the PRO V X, I still have a couple of boxes
WILSONNNNN!!!!!!
Triad vs staff model comparison
Maxfli tour 3 piece or tour x 4 piece. Your welcome.
LOL...if I could get thru 18 holes with one golf ball I wouldn't be looking for a cost savings ball. If I make it 3-4 holes before I lose it then I'm way ahead
Well, if I have to play 10 bunker shots per round then I’ve had one of the worst rounds of my life!! 😂 I’m a mid teen handicap and at most I’d average a couple of bunkers a round. On that basis it would be no good after 4 or 5 rounds but I can pretty much guarantee I’d have lost it before then! At this price though, who cares. This seems to perform almost as well as a Pro V1 without the added fear of losing £4 every time you go in the water or OOB! 😉
I lose them before they have a chance to wear out.
Sorry, but I never understand why the Kirkland, at a third of the price, is compared to the Pro V-1. I don't expect it to be as good as a Pro V-1. Most golfers lose a lot more balls than a pro golfer, so durability isn't as issue. I play the Kirkland because I like the soft feel of a urethane cover around the green, and this is the only ball anywhere near this price point with urethane.
The best golf ball is the one you’re hitting at that moment.
Not durable enough ?
I play kirklands and i can assure you ive never hit the same ball out of a bunker 10 times. Durability is of no concern for those who play these.
