      Lol im not gonna argue that, but I have noticed I cant reach the green anymore on my home course first hole par 5. It is 470 yards, and with my old taylor made burner balls I could hit it OB past the green in 2 shots so I had to be careful. But now I use random balls, and I end up shy of even reaching the green. Its definitely worth the extra distance if you can afford it.

    Just a Heads-up: For your average golfer that doesn’t have quite the swing speed and will have a bit less compression than a pro player, they’re likely to experience an almost negligible difference in terms of distance loss vs an expensive ball. So I wouldn’t worry too much about this if you aren’t the type that can carry a drive over 260 yards. An average joe golfer might lose a couple yards at most off the tee with this ball, if that.
    A professional player such as this guy testing the ball indoors that is compressing the ball more and has that bigger swing speed and distance is far more likely to experience a noticeable difference. Meaning: This ball is perfectly fine for your average player, even off the tee, so don’t be dissuaded from buying it.

    Hey love the channel and reviews. I play Kirklands because I can only get out to the course once a month, and for the average golfer there really isnt a reason they shouldnt be buying this ball. I would have loved you to compare this ball to others besides the completely best balls out there like prov1s and tp5s...I really feel like this is not their competitors. They are actually competing against stuff like the superhots and wilson staffs. hope you see this. Still loved that I got to see the numbers on the ball I use most!

    • @brettanderson9674
      @brettanderson9674 4 роки тому +3

      Hey Justin, The thing is those 2 balls are the main competitor of the Kirkland ball. They are the only ball from the "Big" brands that have a 3 or more piece Urethane cover. So the main competition is the ProV1/1X and the TP5/TP5X most of the other "budget" golf balls use a Surlyn cover. there are a few Budget balls that use a Urethane cover but almost all of those are 2 piece construction which is why they are sold at a similar price to the Kirkland Ball

    • @justinstrava9584
      @justinstrava9584 4 роки тому +8

      @@brettanderson9674 I agree with your assessment and I appreciate the comparison to those balls. What I was hoping for was a comparison based on price and not just quality. Showing the budget balls...the Kirkland's and the prov1s and tp5s. Would have really shown where these balls fit in the lineup for the golfers that are actually buying them.

    • @brettanderson9674
      @brettanderson9674 4 роки тому +1

      I think if you are looking for a budget ball and don't care about the "minor" benefits of a better more expensive ball these are about as good as you can hope for. For higher level players that extra 10 yards off driver is a big enough benefit that it is worth the extra money.

    I played my first and only round of the year so far in March with Kirkland Signatures. I thought the feel was great and I had more control around the greens than I had with Wilson Staff balls. I did notice durability issues - by the end of the round on a par 3 course, I thought the ball looked about 75% to unplayable. Still, for the price and the feel, I’d call it an upgrade! The way I play, 10 yards of driving distance means I might still be in the woods instead of on the neighboring fairway so no big deal here!
    Glad you reviewed this ball, thanks Rick!

    As always Rick provides an honest review on equipment. I’ve spent 5 years stalking him and his reviews and he is my highest trusted source when it comes to honest equipment reviews. That said, not everyone swing as fast as Rick so take this review with a grain of salt. A good golfer has their ball choice and stays with it, Tour B XS for me always, this is for the casual gamer and meets the needs for the purpose. Price can’t be beat so stock up and make this a B-player shot if you yell four a lot or just golf every few months or so. Handicap approved for 16+ in my opinion. Thanks @rick for another awesome review, from your enviable home virtual course. Hit’em well everyone!

  • @GenesisG80
    @GenesisG80 4 роки тому +42

    I hope that everyone out there remembers that Rick is hitting his driver 300+ yards! So when he is testing clubs or golf balls for distance what do the results really mean for someone hitting their drives 250 yards, or some one hitting their drives 200-220 yards? It means the difference in distances are going to be much less that than the results he is getting!! We all appreciate the testing he does, but remember they probably would not be the same results for the rest of us!

    • @SupeDefy
      @SupeDefy 4 роки тому +5

      This. For average joe with 90-100mph driver swing speed, there is basically no difference in carry. We don't compress the ball enough. Now if you are a good golfer with 110mph+ swing speed and carry the ball 270 yards, sure, get the Pro Vs.

    • @michaelmaurer3
      @michaelmaurer3 4 роки тому +4

      @@SupeDefy compression is a test of feel, not of performance. By your logic, why do all LPGA players, with an average driver swing speed of 94mph, play a multi-layered high-performance golf ball? The answer is because on approach and around the green (chipping and pitching) a high-performance golf ball, with a urethane cover, responds better because you can impart more spin due to a softer material on the cover. If a golf ball is a conforming golf ball, the distance that YOU will get will be nominal in carry. The difference you'll see between a Top-Flight and a TP5 or Pro V1 will be the response you get when you're trying to get the ball stopping closer to the pin OR if you hit the green, it stays on the green. This all is without factoring in the difference in cost. Meaning, if you don't want to buy a Pro V1 or TP5 based on cost, understandable. You're still better off playing a Costco brand one than a Top-Flight. But that also doesn't factor in quality control which is a different subject.

      @michaelmaurer3 4 роки тому

      @@blzt3206 Anything specifically you'd like expanded on? For one, I can tell you a lot of golfers are focused mainly on swing speed as their primary determination for golf ball choice. This is a marketing fallacy. I say this because lets take for example my swing speed vs. a generic tour player. While it is the case that a tour player can swing remarkably faster than I can, it doesn't negate the benefits one would receive from playing higher end golf balls. If my driver is as fast a tour pros 5 iron, the tour player isn't going to switch golf balls based on those differing swing speeds. He or she will play the same golf ball because the benefits of playing the higher end golf ball are seen more on the approach and around the greens for all golfers and not seen on the driver to the same extent. You hit maybe 14 drivers in a round, but a vast amount more approach and around the green shots. So, for arguments sake, lets say you do get 5 more yards off the tee with a Top-Flight. That five yards does not offset the loss of control and spin into and around the green which is much more impactful on your score if you can chip and putt less by holding the green or getting the ball to stop closer to the pin.

      Agree on Snell... One thing to note, they are not as low cost as Kirkland. However, you won't see the driver distance loss with the Snell MTB-X like you did here with the 3 piece Kirkland. Rick has a high swing speed and I bet the compression on the Kirkland is pretty low. For an 85+ to 90 swing speed golfer I suspect there would be almost no difference. Notice his 7 iron went pretty close to what he expected. Driver... no so much!

    Have been looking at Kirkland reviews from number of resources (you tube, commercial testing et al) and many came to similar conclusions as you did. Basically, the driver left a few “carry” yards on the tee. For those who hit the ball a bit shorter than yourself (which is probably the majority of viewers) it was only couple of yards. However, due to a bit lower driver spin rate the total yards was just about the same. Not sure if that was similar to your total distance results. On drives my concern is total and being straight, which it appears the Kirkland does. Durability is potentially an issue, but if a ball is typically good for a few rounds, or is lost probably not a huge factor.
    Your videos are super and teaching excellent, so your thoughts and opinions are greatly respected. I just find it difficult to pay $4/ ball when this one seems to be very close at $1/ball. I am a senior in my 70’s, drive around 240-250 yards total, play fairly well so have to wonder if I am missing something? I suspect it won’t impact my game at this stage. Your thoughts are always welcome. Thanks.

    Well 15 £ for 12 “unknown” golf balls is not cheap at all, in Spain we pay 6€ (5£) for 12 (unknown) “Inesis” from Decathlon sport store and from my experience they get lost just as easily as the Titleist V1 so in my opinion it just doesn’t make sense for a medium or high handicap player to waste money on the expensive brand balls.

      Gary Harris I have played golf on and off for 20 years and in my experience the ball is not making any difference what so ever if your handicap is above 14 🤷🏼‍♂️ so I play with the cheapest ball and I still outdrive the Titleist V1 players, so I think that proves my point. Regarding “feel” I find my shot are not affected at all if I play with a soft or hardcore ball, so that’s just down to whichever you prefer.
