I wish self diagnosis wasnt so stigmatized. Ive always compared it too just because a doctor hasnt said a legs broken doesnt mean it isnt broken and im aware of it. Same goes for mental states. Just cuz a doctor hasnt told me i have adhd doesnt mean im not positive i have it. Also theres a surplus of self research tools available. (Not to mention some people cant afford diagnosis)
As a person with ADHD, i can say we get called "lazy" all the time. Honestly i hate myself for that, thinking that i cant finish my tasks and feel regret for everything
I have it too and I hate that I am always forgetting stuff or not focusing on the things I want and that some people think I'm dumb but I'm just not paying attention
@@zuca3869 is very, very hard to understand for persons that doesn't have ADHD that isn't about being lazy or because you're mean, i struggle a lot when someone have to pick me up on their car to go somewhere and i just get distracted and in matter of time everything goes bad
I'm an artist and always try to make stuff i actually care about, and then i can't make myself work on it at all, but there's a random idea that im like "sure i can sketch that up real quick" and then three hours later i finish and it's the best thing I've ever drawn :p
I haven’t been diagnosed with ADHD or ADD (yet) but every single video like this, i can totally relate to ALL of the symptoms. Though ive been planning to get diagnosed. This really helps.
NO NO NO THE LAST THING YOU WANT IS TO DIAGNOSE YOUR SELF, i have diagnosed myself sense i was 8 years old, and every single thing that i wish was gone was from ADHD the only good thing about it is… nothing, wanting ADHD like wanting your favorite character to be week , ADHD brings nothing to the table but it takes, sense I realized what ADHD is doing for me, I want nothing but to… die… my life is hell with this shit
I have ADHD and all my teachers thought I was stupid. When I scored in the top 90% for the state standardized tests my teacher had a look of shock when he told me my score. It’s really sad that there are so many students getting bad scores and suffering from low self esteem bc they don’t thrive in factory school settings & teachers don’t make the extra effort to help them. So Much untapped potential that these kids don’t even know they have. Our public schools are failing students.
You probably were stupid, since the "discoverer" of ADHD said he made it up in order to medicate kids who don't need medications. If you were scoring in the top 90%, it's not possible you have ADHD, people with ADHD supposedly don't have that kind of focus.
idk what that person's saying, but just wanted to say that there are some ADHD schools. Unfortunately, not nearly enough to accommodate for all of us that would benefit so well from a learning environment & style that actually aids us
Me looks at unfinshed projects i started years ago wait i didn't even start them. For me getting some belt smacks(belt cause asia ) is better than doing projects
Here’s a big difference between ADHD and laziness: If you were lazy you’d be having fun. Often people with ADHD feel guilty for not starting tasks but just… can’t and feel like they actually are lazy. The things many say to ADHD people are the things they may say to themselves.
THANK YOU!!!! My parents are mostly supportive, but there have been a LOT of arguments and yelling because I'm "lazy". So much so that I've internalized it; I don't know where ADHD stops and laziness begins, you know? This is a really helpful way of looking at it.
@@ubeuy what the heck, not sure if it’s just but most of my friends with adhd and me (I have adhd) joke about stuff we do that’s caused by our adhd. For example, I joke a lot about how bad my attention span is at school
It’s extremely frustrating when people tell you that you have your priorities messed up. When your doing all that you can…… you start all these projects to better yourself….but get ridiculed for not following through
As someone who has ADHD, diagnosed twice, once when I was around 12, and again around 24, I know the pain of others calling you lazy. After years, I am now in my 30's I can say with I am not lazy, I just struggle on focusing on what I find dull boring or pointless, but I can say this was right on the money. Thanks for the tips and insights.
Ive been diagnosed with ADHD and this is very accurate. I have to take medications for it and people dont realize how much ADHD affects people. Without my meds i just lay around and avoid people, also i have a pattern of playing games and laying in bed watching youtube back and forth like 10 times an hour. Thank you for spreding some awareness and education on ADHD
Oh my god this is exactly what I do every single day. I have a lot of stuff to do for university but I always leave them for a day/couple of days before the deadline and do everything at the last minute in a hurry. I haven't been diagnosed with ADHD or something though, I feel like if I start talking to my mother about this and suggest I may have it (judging by your explanation) she'll probably pretty much just wave it off as me making up stuff that I don't have, etc (when I went from saying that I have a fear of spiders to I have arachnophobia she was like "you're making yourself think stuff like this about you blah blah" and this was YEARS ago and yet it still stuck with me all this time even though my memory is very shit and I rarely remember stuff). I actually don't even know what kind of doctor does these tests and (possibly) diagnoses you.
This isn't ADHD. I do this same thing too when I'm not working out of laziness, and it's something I've been doing since I was 11. A full 10 years. You don't have ADHD, especially if you think that's the reason why.
@@caluhhhb we know this isn't enough for a solid diagnose, also we aren't doctors. Until a person is tested by a professional you can't know for sure whether he has it or not. I'm just saying that I really relate to what that person has said. Also it's not just avoiding doing work, I avoid most human interactions. I rarely go out (even before the pandemic), I try my best to avoid talking and meeting people, I prefer to be in my room, alone. I don't have high social needs unlike normal people, I could go days without meeting with anyone.
Growing up being called "The laziest, most selfish, inconsiderate kid I've ever met" - quotes by my mother on countless occasions when I was dumbfounded as to how to change has left me feeling so empty as an adult. I was even diagnosed with ADHD when I was about 12 and it was totally brushed off by my parents and swept under the rug. As an adult now I feel so broken, struggling with these symptoms everyday with those words from my mother burned into my subconscious.
Wish I could say anything to remove the scar and prevent you from the urge to fight it each and every day. :( I'm sorry. Because I know there is nothing that a stranger can do or say that might help you. Just this. You are not alone.
I have been diagnosed so kinda but it’s kore like “attention deficit HEY DONUTS deficit is a funny word how do planes fly im thirsty wonder what _____ is doing later to day what was I doing again? Oh well must not be important,” as you brain (at least my brain) is going at mach one faster than sonic. Now I actually forgot was I was thinking about before typing this ;-;
i was supposed to write a paper for school but decided to solve a rubix cube first, i forget what i was writing about , but i still can solve a rubix cube.
For everyone who watches this and comes to the conclusion they DON'T have ADHD: You are not necessarily LAZY! I know the title implies it is either one or the other, but it's not! There are lots of things that can cause you to struggle. There is also, for example, executive function disorder. Or it is perfectly possible, that you don't have a (biological) disorder and are struggling for other reasons. Procrastination and lack of focus is an issue LOTS of people have problems with and it does NOT mean laziness! You are not alone. You are not lazy. But if you want to improve the first step is to try to understand yourself. I recommend the book "Procrastination" by Burka&Yuen
Well, yes, but not _everyone_ can have a mental disorder, some people really are just plain lazy- that doesn’t mean it’s impossible to change, though :)!
@@sill.yb0nes Again you create this dichotomy between mental illness and laziness. It's not necessarily one or the other. Lots of social and personality issues can lead to procrastination. For example, if your parents have high expectations you might procrastinate because you are afraid to do your best and still disappoint. Then you prefer to do nothing, because at least then you can tell yourself you could have done it if you tried. Or you are a perfectionist who is always looking for the perfect way to do something, then you despair because you can't find a perfect solution, and then do nothing. There are even people (often women) who are afraid of being stigmatized if they achieve too much, so they slack off. These are just some of many examples that can lead to someone *appearing* lazy. Assuming that they are either sick or lazy just puts those people under more pressure, making the issue worse!
Yknow the worst thing about this is when you get harshly reprimanded for your impulses, something I didn't even want to do in the first place. It really did a number on my self-esteem as a kid.
100% relatable. every time my parents would ask me, "why did you do that"? and the first thing i would say is that it was in my instincts to do so, and then i get wooped.
Thanks to you my parents saw this video and took me to see the doctor and I now have medication for ADHD I really thank you for what you did. My grades in school have also improved!
Do ya think there's any ways I could make my parents accidentally watch this video? I tried watching those " the iceberg of ADHD" vids and I related to 18 out of 21 of the symptoms. :')
@@astro_uniq-al but why "accidentely"? Wont they take 5 minutes off their time to see something youd like to show them? :( If so, maybe show it to someone else, who helps you talk to your parents. I wish you good luck :)

I'm a 36 year old man who has struggled with severe ADHD my whole life. It has caused issues with addiction and has prevented me from having a good career. This is just the tip of the iceberg. Hang in there if you struggle with this.
@@bapzzzzzzzzz2778 what? All that means is like “stay strong” or “keep going.” They’re trying to be encouraging to others with adhd. What is confusing about that?
with some people i swear you could have the attention span of a small bird but if you have decent grades they'll be like the 'i pretend i do not see it' meme
I feel the same way. I have decent grades so people can't really think about me with adhd. I haven't been diagnosed and I definitely don't want to assume anything but this video and just my daily life will finally make me ask my doctor about it.
I feel that. When I was younger I always had good grades (something as low as a C was an alien thought until I got to high school and stopped trying as much), and even when my grades dropped I always heard the "smart kid but doesn't apply himself" spiel, from teachers to my parents. Got diagnosed with severe ADHD a year or so ago now, to the surprise of everyone but myself.
I went to a doctor and they told me I'm just stressed. Went to another doctor then they told me I wasn't getting enough sleep. Then I went to a doctor who is outside of my area and I suddenly got diagnosed with ADHD, OCD and autism and got a detailed explanation as to why things are happening the way they are. These type of videos help you see the problem, but not all doctors will help you target it.
I’ve already been diagnosed, but I figured I would see how accurate this video is, or if it pointed out something I just thought was normal. And it excelled at both!
Imagine arguing with yourself in the shower, but instead of being consistent and concise on one topic. You're jumping from one issue to another like you're about to address every world problem on a list in 2 minutes just because one problem after another was even remotely relevant to the next. That is what it is like having ADHD. Its not hard getting us focused on something, the hard part is keeping us focused. Think of it as being free spirited by nature and hard to keep bound by rules, plans, etc. We do like having things that keep us busy, but we don't like being necessarily organized with it, even if it helps us. The best way I can describe this type of mentality is by calling it a "freelancer" mindset.
Made this account specifically to comment here. As someone with ADHD [tested several times], these are all very true. It can vary from person to person, soloutions can vary, and it's very draining. In my case, I eat and run alot, and focus too much [hyper focused].
i have the opposite problem when it comes to my nutrition, i take vyvanse and i don't have that big of an appetite in the 1st place so not only do i lose my appetite but i also have a fast metabolism, and im 6 foot tall. apparently im supposed to weigh at least 140lbs but i keep bouncing around 113 - 121lbs, that and since i have a low appetite even off the pills i sometimes hyper focus on things forgetting i need to eat until i actually get hungry, which im actually supposed to be eating even when im not hungry
@@ElionraKith Maybe they ment that they made that account earlier and didnt use it, but saw this video and then used that account specifically for this
Ok so, I found this video around 4 months ago and it was my wake up call to go to a Psychiatrists and I did in fact have ADHD (Inattentive type). I would like to thank you for this video as I’m doing much better now that I have medication and just, know it’s not just me being lazy ❤️
Honestly, this really makes me feel better because people I care about have been disappointed in me and I've been called lazy and untrustworthy because of this and I will definitely share this. Thank you so much and I send love to all people who struggle with ADHD
In my case, pple have accused me as a poor listener and unable to handel stress. Meanwhile, from my bedroom, I hear background noises as soft as a refrigerator beeping in the kitchen when it's not closed properly... and I hear dogs barking really loudly over someone's mic in Discord during a veteran trial raid in ESO.
Get off the internet. I was just like you guys at some point but after disconnecting, not smoking pot, not drinking, reading more books I've practically cured what was something that weighed down my whole life. ADHD is a habit-based mental disability.Yoy can fix it you just have to have the will. You ARE lazy don't let these coping losers tell you otherwise. They are sick and you don't have to be.
@@jonnythonmccrapballs3112 i was diagnosed with minor autism, i refuse having it given i stay quiet about most things with doctors, yet this is somehow accurate, im always hungry, and im either uncomfortable all the time or extremely comfortable, hard to explain
As someone with ADHD, this is super true and the way they put it sounds a whole lot better then some of the ways I've been told ADHD is like. It's not wrong or bad, it's just a different way of thinking which is better for somethings then others.
Looks at the 8 video games, 57 ideas for videos I would one day wanna post and have found the videos I would be inspired by for, the 10 drawings I threw out cause I knew I wasn't gonna finish them, the discord server for me and the friends I don't have which I began working on a month ago, the 24 missing assignments for school, the chaptered fanfic I've only done the first chapter of and the 12 plot ideas for videos which I have fully planned but just haven't found the motivation to work on. Yea... I counted all this up... That's time I could have spent actually working on the unfinished/missed projects but instead you get to see this comment.
I’ve been told me whole life that I’m just lazy, not organized and irresponsible. I still get called these. But after my high school tutor told me I may have adhd I told my mom, who just called me lazy and even took me out of therapy. I haven’t been diagnosed yet but I do have ALL the symptoms or signs of adhd. I know most of you don’t care about this but whatever Edit: guess who got their mom to make an appointment to get properly diagnosed after a mental breakdown
Yuh to others it's nothing or just anoying and we can't make a big deal of it but for us its difficult and sometimes you start believeing and thinking that u ursrlf are just lazy and dumb.
Hey, we are here and we care. At least I do and I'm sure there are others. I am sorry that you are treated like that. No matter if you have ad(h)d or not (undiagnosed or not), nobody should be treated like that. Rarely anybody is actually lazy (because it's against human nature). And if something doesn't work or go the way you hoped than that always has a reason. We don't always know why we just can't seem to do something, but nobody should be shamed for it. It is not your fault. It's not your fault you can't focus. It's not your fault you can't start. It's not your fault you forget things. And it is definitly not your fault that other think they know you better than you do and try to force that on you. I am sorry for your situation. But my advice is to stay close to yourself and close to those who support you for doing so. Good luck and we care!
I recommend you should get your mom to give you a proper diagnosis cause I'm pretty sure it would show up on like ID or something idk and then if you go to school or something the staff would be like "oh ok this kid has adhd" so it would be easier for them to help you or something ( I just reloaded the page and found more comments sorry )
“Did you relate to any of these signs?” ALL OF THEM But I’ve been diagnosed, so that makes sense lol This video was very informative… and reassured me I’m not broken, my brain just works differently
See, for me, I was treated differently as a kid... I was diagnosed as a kid with adhd, then told by another doctor that it was schools that pushed it... I have no idea whether or not I actually have it.
I must say that my parents didn't told me about it even when I know there is something "wrong" with me. I found it half year ago that I actually have ADD (without hyperactivity). I feel like not much people really understand me. How they can do everything automatic without proper thinking of it. I have hard times to be "normal" like other people. When I and my wife start argue about something important I need to do other things to keep focus about one main problem that we talk.
Me: "Do I have ADHD?" Internet: "At most mild, your problem is your employer has unrealistic expectations for what a human being can and should accomplish in a set 8-hour timespan."
I love how the presenter’s voice wasn’t too slow or too soft. I was able to watch the entire video (and only rewound once because my attention drifted).
Going into this video I was thinking “ok maybe one or two I’ll relate to” but I relate to all of these, especially the one where you start things and never finish them, I constantly get super enthusiastic about projects I wanna do, but then one day out of the blue I just stop working on it and have no interest in continuing and I have no idea why
I was officially diagnosed with ADHD last year, and I’ll never forget my doctor’s exact words when he reviewed my test results. 😂 Doc: “Wow, those are really high scores..” Me: “Woo! High score! Oh wait, that’s a bad thing..” In all seriousness though, I genuinely suffer from all 5 of these, and for years it frustrated me because I couldn’t understand why I was struggling so bad… Once I got diagnosed those issues suddenly became crystal clear. I highly recommend people to be tested for ADHD if they struggle with these sorts of things like I do; there’s no harm in checking, even if the result is that you don’t, and it’ll be one thing to check off the list of possible reasons! And excellent video! Thank you for educating others on the topic and actually giving an invaluable resource to help people who struggle with ADHD understand a bit more of what’s really going on inside their brains! 😄
"Leaving thing unfinished". I'm a programmer, I'm currently doing a commission and it's literally so impossible for me to focus. I have no interest whatsoever in the task, so I left it for days, weeks. However, when I think of a project of my own, I tend to focus on it intensely. To the point where I finished 3 projects within a week, instead of doing my job, ADHD sucks. Edit: I didn't expect that many likes, also, the situation has improved, I actually have 4 out of 6 things completed now and things are looking good!
For everyone else who couldn't focus on the video: 1:00 childhood history 1:21 short attention span, hyperfocusing, selective attention 2:05 leaving things unfinished 2:43 poor impulse control (e.g. distractions from distractions, interrupting conversations, engaging in risky behavior) 3:23 inability to get organized (help: planners/lists or alarms every thirty 30 minutes to get multiple tasks done) I wish yall the best
As someone diagnosed with adhd and autism, this is very accurate, when i wasnt diagnosed or told i had adhd, people called me mean names, and other stuff in school, calling my lazy, weird, too hyper, not focusing! i take medication and its helped me a lot.
*As someone who is diagnosed with ADHD, its not entirely a bad thing to have.* *ADHD is heavily overpowered when it comes to survival instincts like detection-and-react based or noticing small details of your surroundings without paying attention like a fuckin' one eye-all seeing. If u can Multi-task, then you'd probably like to rush things through, and keep urself active instead of focusing on one thing. Cause its probably not your thing. Not a good habit, but its pretty damn impressive to pull it off. But not everyone can do that, they'll focus on one thing then completely ignores the rest.*
I've two phone & I can multi-task. Ur right! I also can write Super fast :) Bt one thing is fosho😔,,I Can't sleep @ n8 peacefully cuz I've a lot things to do, my studies,my plans...they r still unfinished & I Can't put my concentration on them no matter how much I push myself :(
I’ve been diagnosed with ADHD and i can relate to all symptoms. What stressed me out before watching this video though is not knowing why i did certain things, I didn’t understand myself. After watching this though, i understand mu actions a lot more now so thank you.
I feel like I lack an overall “identity” about my interests and the things I like to do and stuff…because it’s always changing. I don’t even know what I like to do. I might be really passionate about something for a couple days, then i have zero interest in it. My feelings about everything are always changing. That’s why I have trouble answering questions about myself or talking about myself, because I’m always doing “micro projects” that I get really into for a short amount of time before I abandon it or forget I was even doing it. Whenever I get asked questions about myself I always have this “woah” moment where I realize I don’t know who the hell i am. I mean I’m in good health, I take care of myself, I have a good job, etc…but I have a lot of trouble talking about myself because I don’t really have any good answers to anything because I’m always all over the place.
How did you find something to make a career out of? I have this exact problem, except I’m in year 11. I have no overwhelming passion for any specific area, but I have the capability to end up in almost any career. Any advice would be great :)
BRO SAME my therapist had me do an exercise where she wanted me to describe myself. she said anything could work. the stuff I enjoyed doing, the stuff I disliked. and then it hit me. I had no fucking idea because it was (still is) so unstable.
any evidence that this disorder exists? any brain scans done? or did your doctor just tell you? if he didn't physically look in your brain for physical differences, no diagnosis can be given.
Neurotypical, you mean to say normal. Normal. No physical proof of adhd BTW. Symptoms are not evidence, as you can determine symptoms to be symptoms of ANYTHING. I could look at the same symptoms and come to the conclusion that you have aids.. yet you don't.
@@tracyd693 if you are just going to be a jerk about this and saying adhd doesn’t exist, why are you here. Is the only way that you are able to get anything out of your life is to put others down? Stop being a jerk.
this is all me!!!, i didn't get diagnosed with adhd and autism till 30!! . Im over 30 now and its good to know i have this and we have more help for people with adhd and autism now.
the childhood history part reminded me of times in the past where i was being forced to focus on math homework, it seemed like my mind just turned off, and suddenly even 2+2 seemed difficult because my mind just *stopped comprehending the concept of numbers*
oh my god i feel this. I have social anxiety as well so sometimes when a conversation continues for too long on too complex of a subject, or without me being super engaged, or if someone is arguing with me and i feel too overwhelmed, my brain will just forget everything that just happened: what we were talking about, what my defense/argument was, what words are, everything. the worst part is if it's during an argument, I have to start then asking or begging the person to tell me what they mean by the very simple thing they just said, or what we were talking about, and it just makes them angrier because they think i'm trying to play stupid to back out of the argument and they yell at me more when i don't know whats happening and am scared and confused because my brain just decided to check out momentarily. good times 😐
@@cyndrift I relate to this too much. I, too, have social anxiety and sometimes my brain just freezes. The worst thing for me was at school when we were reading a text from a book and the teacher asked a question about it. I was paying attention and sometimes had an answer in my head (but I never raised my hand), but as soon as the teacher randomly called me up and wanted me to answer the question, I completely forgot what I'd just read. So I was looking at the text again, trying to find the answer but then I either struggled to comprehend it and understood just the words and not the sentences or I forgot what the question was. It sucks.
@@Gutsarepuked ADD is just an older term of ADHD. People can be diagnosed with ADHD with or without hyperactivity, but its a good thing to know that there was an older term to ADHD

Can’t relate. As someone who has ADHD, it actually makes me stressed out and upset when I don’t get something done on time. So whenever I do end up procrastinating, I can’t actually do so because the stuff I need to get done is always at the back of my mind until I get it done lol
I know that i have both ADHD and Depression. It's not something I'd want someone else to go through thats for sure. The random bouts of losing interest in something and not wanting to do anything that makes you happy but being absolutely wired to where you cannot go to sleep even if you tried. The wild insomnia symptoms and even worse the sudden mental shutdowns where you just gotta lay down on the floor of where you are and stare at the ceiling to being yourself around.
Here are some memory tips for my fellow ADHD people: 1. Set an alarm 2. Wright on your hand (might cause ink poison if you do it too much tho lol) 3. Hair ties or rubber bands around your fingers (if you only put it on your wrist you would just forget about it) 4. Post-it notes on every wall in your house (Haven't tried it yet so might not work) You're welcome :) Edit: Omg thank you all so much for all these likes, I've never gotten so many before! Edit 2: MORE LIKES?!?!?!? AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH- Also for some reason I'm able to remember things that I consider important, like passwords. I can make myself think that a sertain thing is important and I will remember it but it's not constant lol. Can anyone else do that too or am I alone? I would love to know :)
I put sticky notes alllll around my room. use them to track school assignments, and to remind me of my goals helps. Btw if you get overwhelmed and don't know where to start when studying, take a small sticky note and stick it to your laptop or desk, write what homework you need to get done and check it off as you. It's very helpful when it comes to staying task.
During elementary and JHS, I was always getting good grades and performs well at school. Now I'm in Senior HS and literally having a hard time focusing on finishing my activities (lol I have 3 performances deadline tom. and idk missing activities.) yet, still finishes "irrelevant" things easily. I hate it that everyone, including my classmates, teachers, and family has "high expectations" for me and that just sucks bro. I don't even bother talking about depression or ADHD to my parents. I can already hear my mom say, "nah. you just don't know how to manage your time." 🙂
I have no clue where the myth about growing out of it came from. Even if you google ADHD, Google tells you that it MAY last into adulthood. Ummm... just because people get good at masking their symptoms as adults doesn't mean it goes away. It doesn't. It's permanent. There is NO cure, only treatments. I really wish Google would fix that. Every time I see it, it ticks me off.
Noo don’t say that, I know it’s difficult and hurting but you can go and see professionals and talk about your problems, and yeahh you’re not alone, definitely not, I send you love ❤️✨
These videos aren’t meant to make you hate yourself! They’re meant to educate, and possibly point you to ask a professional whether you have the disorders they talk about. I highly recommend getting a professional testing on whether you have ADHD or not, because undiagnosed ADHD can be a detriment to your success.
also thanks a lot for the other comments, even before watching this video I already hate myself. I don't have anyone everytime I'll have serious stress and anxiety kick in, even when I had a serious depression all I just did was let it pass by, everything is going so bad because of me and I know that I'm self conscious, so it means a lot even it's from strangers seeing encouraging words for me. I'll try my best to control this by myself, thanks a lot to everyone again
I think the hardest thing about ADHD for me is low confidence. Not that ADHD itself has given me low confidence but feeling different and having to mask my ADHD from an early age has made me really uncomfortable with some of ADHD personality traits. I didn't get diagnosed with my ADHD until I was 17 but I always felt different and struggled with certain things which lead me to feeling weird and defective. Ever since I got diagnosed and medicated I have started to accept myself and my ADHD, I still struggle sometimes but it's a work in progress :)
Yeah the self esteem and confidence triggering the masking is a real struggle. I’m 15 now and am in the process of being diagnosed and even my parents never suspected me of having it as I masked it at home until the past year because I was so ashamed :(
ive been harassed and beaten into low self esteem basically and thats even worse than just having adhd cause i *depend* on motivation and low self esteem is demotivating
any evidence that this disorder exists? any brain scans done? or did your doctor just tell you? if he didn't physically look in your brain for physical differences, no diagnosis can be given.
I didn’t even realize that ADHD meant you may also have mood swings, it makes complete sense now why I’m very depressed sometimes and very happy some other times
I recently found out that there are actually differences in ADHD between men and women. That was amazing to find out bc I always had a feeling that I had ADHD as well (one of my brothers has it too) but, for instance, I didn't had bad grades in primary school. Which is a common indicator in boys but not girls. Fascinating how different our brains are, no? I'm just glad that I found out that there are certain differences. I always felt like I was lazy.
differences are mainly due to social factors (socialization) of generational/sexist gender expectations/enforcement for males and females, not physical. women/girls tend to mask "better" (like following school rules leading to better grades), just like girls are typically expected to behave whereas "boys will be boys."

Even tho I know my laziness is not really laziness I still feel bad when I see others around me be so productive and get things done. I often don’t understand how they could’ve already finished a task I haven’t even gotten myself to start.
Me too. I find it whimsical how a regular person can just do their shit in school right off the bat. How does one conjure up the willpower to dedicate hours of their time to a project when I can't even finish the sketching phase of an art piece? Its hard man- I get you.
As someone who has adhd, I remember my teachers telling me to focus, again, and again, only for me to go to a therapist to finally figure out why I was like that. To people who have adhd, try again and keep working. If you don’t want adhd meds like me, you need to work hard so you can be as good as the other people. (I’m the smart kid even with adhd :) )

I recently started feeling like I may have adhd but I know if I try talking to my mom about it she’ll just say I’m just lazy and a procrastinator like she already does when I say I have trouble focusing on school so I haven’t talked to anyone about it. I relate a lot to the things in this video I’m glad I found it.
I'm in a very similar boat, though it's a struggle bringing it up in my case because I've never had any noteworthy external issues pop up. Aside from one mental disaster I dealt with which is easily attributable to my anxiety, I've never showcased any warning flags that I struggle with any mental disorders at all. However, I tend to entirely relate to anyone speaking on how ADHD feels to them, so I definitely suspect having it at this point. I've been so trained to believe bringing it up is just searching for excuses, though, and it's a further struggle that I don't have anything to point to externally that says "I'm having issues with my mental state." I look well-organized, focused and in control pretty regularly, whether with academics or work, but I know I'm not really; I just have enough brute force to keep it going.
Try talking to your school counselor if not a teacher who will listen to you? Our nextdoor neighbor was a school teacher and has dealt with children with ADHD and had to explain that to their parents; they only became convinced when they prescribed the medication that would help, and the difference was phenomenal.

@@S.D.M022 some people find meds useful, everyone is different. im sorry you have a bad experience with meds, but they dont get prescribed for no reason...
It is not easy to get diagnosed, because where I live here are very rare professionals having a plan how to detect ADHD in adults properly, so you often get misdiagnosed for depression or borderline disorder and such. But you never get treated right and that's an issue. I found out ADHD is the gordish knot of all my problems, diagnosis and disabilities. It's the root. You actually can say if you might have ADHD or not and most adults I met are upset about their suspicion. I mean we all are educated to not want to have a kind of sickness. We all do feel ashamed when we might have it. We all are told to not be an attention seeker or tell lies. So we don't. We claim a diagnosis only when there is no other option and we fight it until each doubt has died. Go for it. Have a look on ADHD treatments and find out what's working for you to get along better. There is no failure nor betrayal nor guilt in it. The first step is seeking help. Not in case of an illness, but disability and disfunction.

Honestly it baffles me so much that people think that even if you were doing it for attention, that they just shouldn't see it as a call for help. Like if a child has attention deficit from adults in their close life, it's not the child's fault.
All this kinda makes sense as to why I am the way I am, I was diagnosed with ADHD so Im not misdiagnosing myself, the distraction from distractions, the hyper focus on something thats less important, leaving things to be done later. Here’s a big difference between ADHD and laziness:
If you were lazy you’d be having fun.
Often people with ADHD feel guilty for not starting tasks but just… can’t and feel like they actually are lazy. The things many say to ADHD people are the things they may say to themselves.

Thank you
Well, yes, but not _everyone_ can have a mental disorder, some people really are just plain lazy- that doesn’t mean it’s impossible to change, though :)!
Thank you!
@@sill.yb0nes that's true as well
@@sill.yb0nes Again you create this dichotomy between mental illness and laziness.

Which is a common indicator in boys but not girls. Fascinating how different our brains are, no?
I'm just glad that I found out that there are certain differences. I always felt like I was lazy.
Do you think hormones (testosterone or estrogen among others) could somehow influence how ADHD/ADD is exhibited in young children?
differences are mainly due to social factors (socialization) of generational/sexist gender expectations/enforcement for males and females, not physical. women/girls tend to mask "better" (like following school rules leading to better grades), just like girls are typically expected to behave whereas "boys will be boys."

when she talks about signs of you having ADHD,PHD,TRAUMA, it ALWAYS EXPLAIN MY LIFE WHHHyyyy???

Thats actually true ( I have ADHD and also there aren’t just This problems one of them is that you might have Ticks , it’s like you’re moving but you don’t want to like you cannot control them . But the rest is true .
As a person who has ADHD and was diagnosed with 12 years old I can 100% relate to all of the things being said in this video.
ADHD can cause issues and treatment is necessary for some to be happy.
Same
Damn what kinda mental illness is 12 years old i've only heard it just now.
No physical proof of adhd BTW. Symptoms are not evidence, as you can determine symptoms to be symptoms of ANYTHING. I could look at the same symptoms and come to the conclusion that you have aids.. yet you don't.
So can the other 8 billion people on the planet. So the disorder isn't real.
@@S.D.M022 some people find meds useful, everyone is different. im sorry you have a bad experience with meds, but they dont get prescribed for no reason...
The "this doesn't mean you don't need professional diagnosis" in the beginning is the only thing stopping me from screaming "I HAVE ADHD"
@@ranmakuro same here, I can’t get diagnosed because my parents don’t understand mental illnesses and conditions and so I can’t go to get diagnosed (with anything or nothing) because my parents think those places are only for lunatics
@@aimalisapro123 Feel you. My dad was the same. The day will come when you're able to decide on your own and nothing can stop you. I'm 30 now and just some months ago I found out I might have ADD. It is never too late. Wish you all the best!
@@ranmakuro I want to see a professional because I relate A LOT to the symptoms, but I can't because I'll have to ask my mom and I don't want to. It's also hard to talk about that to someone since even if they are professional they'll judge you and say you're just lazy..

Parents: *Obviously you’re just doing it for attention*
It hurts when the closest people doesn’t care about your mental health
Did you actually say it to them anyways?
Yeah, I can relate
Honestly it baffles me so much that people think that even if you were doing it for attention, that they just shouldn't see it as a call for help. Like if a child has attention deficit from adults in their close life, it's not the child's fault.
Ik
All this kinda makes sense as to why I am the way I am, I was diagnosed with ADHD so Im not misdiagnosing myself, the distraction from distractions, the hyper focus on something thats less important, leaving things to be done later. I also struggle with organizing and schedules to the point that even doing the alarm suggestion does not work for the Alarms have started to annoy me more then against refocusing me.
"Leaving things unfinished"
I feel called out, i have my tests that i have to pass soon and still not doing them and just tell myself that "I'll do it at (insert a certain time)" and when i go passed that time and still not started I'd just do it again which makes me rlly frustrated about myself
