The FCR knows where it is because it knows where it isn't.
Absolutely not untrue
The fact that while flying an AH-64D - you have to say; "It takes a little bit of understanding" is absolutely hilarious!
And a whole lot of love.
I'm so excited to get back home to start flying in dcs again! I've been gone for months and just watching videos on the apache every day!
Before you fly your first sortie back, take a massive bong rip
@evanm6739 hahaha I would but I'd lose my job 🤣
Speaking to my soul with the back pain pillows lol
Simple to use yet so effective, been loving the FCR addition
I haven’t flown helicopters irl or dcs. But I gotta say, the Apache looks like the best multicrew system for DCS. There’s a lot of need for continuous teamwork and some really cool options and systems for both crew to operate.
Thanks for sharing the DCS wealth of knowledge!
You instruct in a way that having never used the craft, one can understand what it’s trying to do as well as what you are intending to do with an imperfect system. And you make it look easy.
Thank you, very kind.
It's great, but in multicrew it can desync a lot. You will have to have the CPG load the aircraft and turn on their FCR, then the pilot will have to reload it to be able to have the FCR also. If not it will say the FCR is not installed.
@@ComdrStewif the CPG joins after the aircraft is started and the FCR turned on, it works for both Pilot and CPG from my experience
@thelespauldude3283 Nice, will give it a try tonight. Thanks for the info.
It does, but the FCR is still not implemented fully for multicrew. For instance when the pilot uses the arrow buttons to rotate the radar, it's not synced to the CPG. Right now FCR is unusable in multicrew in my opinion. @@thelespauldude3283
One of the best investments I made for DCS were the Thrustmaster Cougar MFDs. Sure they don't have the Apache specific buttons, like FCR, TSD, etc, but the rest of the bezel buttons make employing the helicopter as a weapon system much easier, and they can be used for many different aircraft. I use them in MSFS as well for things like lighting, and other switches not found on my Honeycomb Alpha and Bravo.
fly in vr fixes everything
I got the winwing ones, which are similar in price to the thrustmaster ones (if you just buy the frame and not the screen).
I fly in vr, so didn't need the screen. They're excellent and the extra buttons between the main grey buttons gives you so much flexibility.
@@Not-today-wb9do Yeah for literally 4x the money. No thanks.
Great stuff! I’m going flying now. You do make it easier to understand. I’m still at the “hover - transition - (wreck) stage!” I can get it in the air and fly it, it’s the “hover and/or land” part that’s killing me! Either way it’s getting easier every sortie. Thanks for the help.
I see, C SCP may be really handy when setting up a PHS ACQ while scanning. I guess it would spare the headache when the tactical situation is heating up all around.
Patching up holes in my knowledge. Best kind o' stuff!
Your Video according the FCR was long-awaited... finally waiting has an end. Thanks a lot 👌
Great to see more DCS content and tutorials Casmo! Nothing better than getting such great information from someone who used the aircraft for real!
Thanks for posting this as well as elaborating on the tactics and the significance too. Was having some trouble with controls so I've been using your vids as a kind of cheat sheet. Ngl, I mentioned this to Schoolio, but the reality really is sobering and wipes clean the whole romance of the 114L that was always portrayed as an infallible weapons system in older games like DI's Apache Longbow and Jane's Longbow Anthology. I'm still gonna have a 114L slam into a Tunguska and when it does I'm gonna rejoice lol.
Thanks again Casmo for all the tutorial videos and hard work that goes into this channel.
This man truly taught alot of us the joy of Rotary aircraft in DCS.
Thank you for the very useful FCR tutorial Casmo! Missed your Apache videos a lot.
Good one Casmo! Thanks for another informative video. It’s nice to see things associated from an actual use case perspective. Great stuff
Thanks for the great info Casmo, and thanks for your service!!
I didn't know the part with the acquisition source , I have been annoyed by the fact that my FCR sometimes ends up pointing to the sides and it might have been due to that ACQ xD tyvm for the video casmo 👍👍
I can't wait for more FCR features to come available soon!!!
The inverted triangle is called the Alternate Next to Shoot target.
great video. i dont know if you already have something planned, but i hope you get a chance to put out a data link tutorial too and how to send all the reports using the fcr. thanks for your content
Thanks for the clear explanation time to try out :)
Been looking forward to this! Thanks Casmo!
Great video Casmo!!!
Thanks for the tutorial. Really good explanation of the FCR. Yesterday I finaly got time to check the radar on ah64. It makes ka50 and mi24 obsolete as the hunter killer capabilities.
Remember to assign and activate pfz’s. Tested it with a buddy yesterday and also the rf handover and fed his Limas targets
We will dive into those later. Right now the basics, which don’t require zones.
I had no idea that the FCR tracked head movement until you showed us! 😮
I'm hoping the next patch fixes the FCR teething problems like scan originating from the nose of the aircraft and elevation issues.
I could be wrong but I think when C-SCOPE is implemented, it won’t just track your head, but will also overlay the targets it picks up on your IHADSS so you can simply look around the battlefield and see where everything is.
Great Video Casmo!
Great vid as always. I've noticed that the Lima missiles are more accurate and predictable when using the FCR for their data instead of the TADS.
I'm greatly looking forward to being able to link the TADS to the FCR too, cause I'm trying to find workflows to single seat thx Apache as a CPG (no friends and George is too clunky to use for my liking). For now the only way to get the TADS onto the FCR target is to plot the NTS as a target point, switch sight and select the target as AQU
Thanks for this video. I've been using FCR and the radar hellfires since they came out. Great explanations that you've given. Hoping that the FCR system will get updates, like the ability to zoom in on the scan, and it would be great if it someday will designate friendly and enemy units.
I've got a new computer coming and I can't wait to fly the AH-64 with it. My current computer is about 10 years old now, so it's been struggling with the detail of the Apache and any decent sized mission. It's going to be great seeing the game in all of its beauty.
Thanks mate great vid
Thanks Casmo :)
Looking forward to the link and zoom functions to be added!
Thank you
I bought a left hand mouse...game changer Casmo

Big brain move.
Great video as always! I'm just mortified that you have a life outside of DCS! How can you? Can you tell me where you got your life from because I need one too lol
Another reason not to use continuous scan is I believe you can't slew the FCR while scanning is active. Also, those back pain guys really know their audience!
Just in time for me to have figured it out on my own days ago
Did not know Apaches had this capability

A time capsule of awesome.
Opening the trigger guard is the step that I always forget
You can set that to always open. It was one of the first things we complained about from the SME dev side.
@@CasmoTVI believe it's set as default now, since a friend of mine who trials the Apache didn't have to change the setting.
I had actually started to believe you were done with the Apache
Nah just need a break from things.
@@CasmoTV We all get to that point eventually. Especially with DCS and also having a life. Hope you're doing well.
Has the flight model improved with that weird side slew ting? Great vid BTW.
I haven’t paid attention but I guess so cause I’m not having the same issues.
Thanks for the tutorial. I would like to ask if there is visual confirmation of the destruction of targets after an FCR attack?
Not without link working.
This is the video I used to learn more about the FCR. Just a curious question. Does the FCR not have EXP mode similar to the F-16's ? This makes it easier to sort out targets that are close together. A typical convoy to me appears as a big blob on the FCR.
Not sure it’s operational yet. I haven’t tested.
Hi Casmo, since the pilot seat does not have a slave button, does the FCR always slave to the acquisition source when not scanning? And can we “unslave it?”
Yes and no
Can you do a tutorial on this "life outside of DCS" you speak of? 😅
I’m still trying to figure that one out.
@@CasmoTV Correct as is.
You can link the TADS with the FCR cant you? At least from the front seat selecting "TGT" on the FCR screen, and then "all", finally "coord" on the TSD and selecting the target you are looking at followed by "slave" button.....probably got that order a little wrong but something like that.
I cover that in a later video and no that’s not Link.
I think I may have misunderstood you in the video, wasn't trying to question you brotha, you've forgotten more about the Apache then I'll ever learn. Solid video, didn't know about the NTS with the cursor, makes life much easier, Thanks for the tutorials
No worries. What you’re saying works just fine too. It’s a “back door” method without Link working.
@@CasmoTV I closed DCS, watched your video, and then ended up reopening to check out that NTS with the cursor trick. That’s a lot of freedom being shot in not a lot of time, thanks again
What can we do when the targets are bunched up close together? Zoom is not working at this time, or is it?
You can still do it the "old fashined" way by using laser and TADS. Lima missiles work with laser guidance too.
Hi dad
"3 hours later I ve got the hold mode set" :) Is that hold mode unnaturally difficult to set up? I have problems with it also.
In DCS it’s a pain in the ass. In real life it’s seamless.
@@CasmoTV I wonder if ED is planning to improve on it.
@BunialskiTrip they “plan” to improve everything.
@@CasmoTV xD
If DCS wanted you to have a life they would have issued you one.
Unmatched lethality?!
Come on, man. While you guys took on Hajjis wearing sandals, Ka-52's are destroying all types of Soviet and NATO tanks/APC's/IFV's, etc. Let's not fail to mention early footage of the war of Ka-52's dodging so many missiles and firepower. Yeah, some were shot down, so what! After all, they're not fighting Hajjis or taking out civilians by mistake or "by mistake".
Not like I'm expecting an ex Apache pilot to go like: "Damn! You're so right!". So, yeah, "Unmatched Lethality!". Aye, aye, sir.
Pleaaaaaaaaaase...
