Today we look at the first implementation of the Fire Control Radar in the Apache. We look at symbologies, settings and functions and use it to fire on multiple targets with radar Hellfire Missiles.

@@earthexplorer579 Yes it still is. At least this morning it was. Check the FCR Mast-Mounted Assembly (MMA) box in the re-arm whilst in the mission editor.
You can tell that Cap would rather be at Mach 2 in a bone directing events.

Thanks for doing this video Cap! In your GR Recommend Modules 2023 video you asked whether you should go back and do a full set of tutorials for the AH-64D and I definitely hope you will. GR carrier landing competition videos are why I got into DCS in the first place, and I've learned all my modules using your tutorials. Also, I'm glad to see GR getting some official love from ED in the latest changelog notes.

TGT buttons works fine. If the radar has targets, you press TGT, now you can choose which target you want to store with the cursor. If you press all instead, all targets of the FCR will be stored.

Honestly gotta love the Apache, also would love see some more EF typhoon and flanker content.
NOW it's a Longbow. The video helped me figure out the keys to program into my HOTAS, ED, and Voiceattack. Spent this evening getting everything set up and works as advertised first go around. Also added a couple of little scripted commands in Voiceattack to power up and power down the FCR so I don't have to fool with pressing the buttons. Voiceattack is great for that. Also created a bunch of other scripts, I think my favorite is a little script for night flying, I say "Night Flight" and my script runs through adjusting every panel lighting setting and external lighting as well. I find all this button pushing to be so........unevolved 🤪
To anyone struggling with George piloting, be sure “game flight mode” is unchecked in your options. This drastically reduces his piloting issues.

Even if I watch other tutorials I always come back to GR.
I have seen a lot of videos trying to find out how to manual lock a target for the copilot. I had no problem with it before but now everything has changed. Any advice? What is it called in the controller options?

Hello. I have a question. Once I place the cursor on the target, how do I block it? With Enter Depress? Thank you
TSD will only show additional targets in ATK phase.
Great video & thanks a mill for all of them. Helps sooo much. I do have one question to the fcr & that's...I used the missiles etc. but when i choose gun it won't fire, unless i turn the fcr off in the utils page. Any help with that please? Merry Christmas btw🎅☃️
I must admit I haven't tried that yet.
You need to change your selected sight back to hmd with sight select switch up. That should fix the problem.

The only issue I'm having with it is on some mp servers even with the dome installed the fcr says it isnt. In sp its probably the coolest thing i've seen in dcs in a decade. Its so fun.
I love how with the FCR hellfire shooting is so easy an army guy could do it. Holy cow.
And this was late 80s/early 90s tech. These machines were unmatched for decades
@@mk6315 Actually the FCR wasn't introduced until 98". And the Hellfire Lima wasn't produced before 95".
What is this dropdown tree list of controls you're showing? I've never seen that before.

Does the FDR also interact with other ISTAR assets, predominantly drones?
I don't know but I predict that Apache has it's own DL that does not talk to other machines.
What did ED do to piss you off when apache came out that made you not want to play it? (as stated in the "which modules should I buy" video)

So…. Is the FCR suppose to be implemented now, or… ? Cuz I just installed the latest DCS update and I still have no FCR on the Apache.
You can see it’s implemented as the video literally shows him using it as well as the words that gave it away “December 2023” and your comment is in…… Jan 2024.
Are you in open beta (not stable)? Did you go to the mission editor to make sure it’s selected as he showed at the start of the video?

The logic between single burst and continuous burst is slightly different. continuous for one remembers the priority queue between each burst.
OK cool, but how about not having radar mounted in open beta ?
I wonder how often this has been used in combat so far since the ROE for the last few wars have been you need a VID before firing?
Apache has link function. It can slew TADS to FCR contact. We will get it in future update.
@@yellecc you can set your acq source to FCR currently with the tad as the sensor select
Cap. Have you seen Alex Hollings (Sandbox-Air power) latest video about the F-22B (Joint Strike Raptor) that Japan was investigation as a possible solution to their lack of air superiority fighters? We need that built into a GR Mod for the F22, for science!!

P.S. My guess at the probability of US Congress rescinding their ban on investment in foreign F-22 use, is 0%.
Besides, it's widely known that the F-22 moulds, dies etc. were all deliberately destroyed. So even if the USAF wanted a single new F-22A, they'd have to literally start by making new designs, moulds, dies, to make a copy of a 90's tech fighter. So if you may as well just put that money into leaving room for a bomber version in the NGAD programmes.

Looks like you also destroyed a medical transport with many wounded soldiers when you blindly shot at all your radar contacts without first identifying them as a definite enemy threat 🙂
If they had a reasonable dynamic campaign I'd be all over this. As is, its a big nothing burger. Spend all that time to learn these neat systems. And then what? DCS needs to get off its high horse and give us a modern version of Apache Longbow.

Completely off topic, but I wanted to put this to your viewers who I consider likely to think about global geopolitics. The Kremlin, by shifting the narrative of their actions in Ukraine from defense of Russians to Restoration of Russian Empire, having utilized Threat of Nuclear Strike for the entire year of 2022, and much of 2023, has created a situation where the only option for all other nations is to get nukes as quickly as possible. I say this because the Kremlin's apparent new world order is one based on Nuclear Armed Expansionism as the norm. This, in my view, suggests that within 3 or 4 decades, after dozens of smaller nations rush to build tactical and strategic nukes, some number of these will fail to secure their nukes, either by theft, or by state dissolution and theft, or by mad officer getting a wild-hair. That, in my mind, suggests that if the world allows the Kremlin to appear to have won in Ukraine, the future of the world includes the near random vaporization of cities and human structures. I do approve of evidences to the opposite, but I've not been privy to hearing any.

Tacticaly it's not attractive for any side to use nukes, MAD has always been a very good deterent for using such weapons, and how can you be a world leader when the majority of the world is dead or dieing, does that make any sense
