On this channel we like to do a lot of dogfighting most videos are some sort of dogfight between 2 different aircraft as we explore their different capabilities. From time to time I like to dabble in Virtual Reality, I think VR is a great new technology and I love to show that stuff off for the channel from time to time.
If you enjoy war thunder or Microsoft flight simulator 2020 or even dogfighting in Battlefield 2042, consider getting yourself into Digital Combat Simulator by Eagle Dynamics, the Combat side of Aviation with the BVR and Dogfights really provides a different and interesting perspective on aviation. You can fly all kinds of combat aircraft including the F-16, F-15, F-14, JF-17, Su-27, Mig-29, Mirage and the F-18 Hornet along with many other aircraft and helicopters like the Ka-50 and Mi-8. - Ігри

Having a lot of fun in the Apache, let me know if you guys have some cool ideas for missions going forward the S300 site proved to get pretty challenging but also lots of fun. What did you guys think about having someone control the ground assets? I think its a cool element to bring to the videos whenever possible, would love to her your guys thoughts on the topic. Thanks for watching and Hope you all are staying safe, Much Love.
I actually just had an idea, I used to love the old Strike games on Sega Genesis. Desert Strike, Jungle Strike, they were more like top down helicopter games where each map had different missions you had to complete. Completing the missions in any order would unlock your target for that map and when you killed them you went onto the next map. I think it might be cool to see you and him set up an Apache map like that in DCS.
After watching this why does America need F35 and stealth lol
2 Morons fly an Apache, let's goooo
What systems requirements you running on your gaming computer? I assume a high end computer will run me around $1500 plus. I'm thinking about getting into this and other flight sims
Having people control the ground assets definitely makes it better!!
"Is it just me, or is that missile tracking perfectly?" needs to be in a compilation
thought the same, searched for this comment xD
Together with the ‘We are out of missiles. No, you are out of missiles.’ remark.
This needs to be on a sticker :P
At least he seen it. I took one from below, right up the clacker. No idea what hit me I was suddenly a floating angel watching my wingmen scatter from my fallen debris.
Famous last words XD
In the beginning when you were having problems with those mobile SAMS that is exactly what the "bob-up" attack is for basically, you unmask, scan and store targets, re-mask and then switch to an LOAL (Lock on after launch) you can launch your missiles while masked-they should take a very high trajectory and then you can unmask when there is around 5 seconds to impact-those SAMS will be smoked before they even knew what hit them.
Yeah except the SA-15 is actually capable of shooting down the incoming missile. You need more than one Apache to take down that kind of SAM complex
That's really hard to do in DCS. Without the feel for climbing and falling, its really hard to get that kind of control on the collective.
@@mecampbell30 It's really not that hard.. When you go down that slow even in real life it doesn't feel like "falling" only if you're pulling negative G's.
@@linussandell831 In real life you can absolutely feel small changes in your acceleration while hovering. Take a ride in any small helicopter.
@@mecampbell30 Yea, feel changes. Not falling.
Read what i said
“Is it just me, or is that missile tracking perfectly?” Famous last words, GS, famous last words.
7:20 Imagine those as your last words XD!
When the full system AH-64D comes out life will get easier for the Apache and not so much for the ground defences... or even better they release a Kiowa to do all the scouting and lasing for you...
A human CPG would also help.
Kiowa is obsolete.
@@TeensierPython so is the 64D. What's your point?
No need for a Kiowa just run a 2 ship mission.
@@Silverhks yeah that's why they have the Echo model now.
Thanks for the video GS. It's interesting seeing the contrast between your tactical jet videos and the AH-64 videos. Your lack of proficiency in the AH-64 is very interesting.
Lold thanks boss. Lack of proficiency is my main selling point 😆
@@GrowlingSidewinder Yeah, thanks for the compliment...I guess! :^D
it's hard to be proficient in something that just barely became publicly available
BRUH, it is the 1st commercial since few years that is embedded in UA-cam video (hands on throttle and stick thingy) that I watched with interest and did not skip at all!!! well played indeed.
I have a soft spot for these videos, played the Jane's Apache simulators in the '90s a lot and loved the complexity of doing these kind of missions. Its so much harder than swooping in with a plane, drop your payload and bolt out. Got to be sneaky all the time because everything can hit you, even soldiers with small arms... more of this, please! Perhaps you can pump it up to a campaign with multiple humans on both sides even. Could be like a small movie. 😄
That was awesome. It is good to see combined armed assets being used.
I agree, but I'd love to see the Sam's perspective of things, maybe at some point they'll make a module like Sam Simulator...
I think they have you can look at the radar inside the vehicle and everything @@DerekCrosby
Love the slow-mo and different angles. Entertaining video to watch, nice flying.
I haven’t flown an Apache since the days of Jane’s Longbow, but regarding having to continually paint targets, I seem to remember a lock on after launch mode for the hellfires. It’s definitely a 20 year-old memory, but I remember that LOAL allowed hellfires to be shot off speculatively from behind terrain where they’d loft way up to increase their flight time, and you could then pop up afterwards and lase to give them terminal guidance. This massively reduced the window of exposure, at the cost of having to judge flight time and when to pop up. Am I making stuff up (quite possible) or if not, you might want to figure out how to do that in DCS, assuming it’s modelled.
Exactly that. I did it also that way, 20years ago…or so
Nope you're not making stuff up at all, my comment is exactly what you just explained in a little more detail, glad to see other fellow Janes Longbow players
Former Apache driver here. You are spot on. LOBL is suicide for the Apache against Air Defense missiles. They travel 2-3x faster than the Hellfire. Staying exposed for the 30ish second flight time never ends well for the good guys.. LOAL or the Delta models fire and forget radar is the only way to win. Surprised this sim doesn't allow for that reality
@@josemadarieta865 hey DCS , let simulator use LOAL!
You are correct, except in LB2 it was almost impossible to acquire or re-acquire targets in LOAL mode if they weren't locked up prior to launch. I believe it was much easier to do in LB1/LB Gold.
7:20 It is you, AND that missile was indeed tracking perfectly 🤣🤣
Have to admit that HOTAS intro had me watering at the mouth a bit. That thing looks awesome. And it is modular. Oh yeah, I want one.
We learned that even in the best attack helicopter, taking out air defenses is a rather dicey proposition, even with a really good pilot at the controls. Fun to watch, action, humor and tragedy. Great work. Cheers.
Not so sure that GS is a really good heli pilot, tbh.
also keep in mind the apache doesn't have the radar, and also.....have to consider I'm trying to make interesting content, I don't want to hover at max range and lob hellfires in, that makes for a pretty boring video.
@@GrowlingSidewinder If you're emitting with the FCR, then there are systems that can pick you up. The FCR is not the end all, be all. It'll be interesting to see the V6 Echo model though.
Very interesting and cool. I like how you keep a variety of aircraft and mission types in play. Keeps it interesting. Great job.
Some of the scenes like the end and when u hit the sa-13 was so realistic and cool. Nice camera work.
You and longshot's cinematic intros are insane....New level of video quality i love it
Hi GS! I was really waiting to see the landing with the missing tailwheel! That SA-13 took it's toll...
Apache against insurgents would be cool. I want to see that chaingun in action.
Ot. That will NOT be pretty…
This. Guns kills for the win! Pink mist is best mist! 😉
Nice video. Lots of fun. Good to see that you are now thinking like a helicopter pilot. Flying low, changing positions, moving around the terrain.
The ad on the beginning was legitimately enjoyable to watch!
Realistically the TOR-ME2 would have the helicopter taken out on 02:13, if it was hidden to protect and overlap the long range S300 system.
that intro was legendary keep up the great work man
Id love to be that ground control guy, it sounds like so much fun.
Having a lot fun with the apache vids.. thank you and please keep em coming..
Your vids just keep getting better friend! Keep on rock n roll! Love it
I've been on the fence getting a new high-end hotas setup. Been looking at Virpl, Wingwing, TM, and I think you've finally helped me decide on the Wingwing.
Dude! Your ingress was the first time I ever saw someone sk8boarding in a helicopter🤣😹😂😅🥲. World record low altitude run! 💥
This could only have been made better if you had Jester as your copilot/gunner and he somehow ejected right before the SA-15 missile hit.
Well done! Excellent mission in a remarkable aircraft. It seems clear to me that if you'd gone in with two Apaches at the same time, one could have drawn fire while the other took out the assets, probably with no losses.
Very nice! Try these types of scenarios with a human CPG as well, should be awesome!
such an amazing fight. Hats off to Shotgun for the defending on the SAMM sites...he really gave you a good fight. Great video as always GS !
Gotta respect that ZSU 23-4. Great video.
That was awesome. You rock GS
Awesome. I'd like to see a video targeting with the new radar that's been added to the Apache.
Loved this video, even the might Apache, got a bit of a run around.
I love how you have this badass name, growling sidewinder and then your adversary is taco 🤣. But i love your videos I have always been obsessed with military aircraft I'm constantly reading about different airframes weapons and watching videos.. but your channel is as close to actual dogfights and air to ground combat as you can get.
8:30 Love the cinematic aspect!👍👍
11:30 🤯
That intro though 😳🔥🔥
Would have been impossible had there been a Tunguska
Please recreate the US military’s tests of rotary wing vs fixed wing air to air combat!
Multi-player mode ON :) Thanks GS Good work LOL
This is just what I needed. Thank you GS.
Boy, Winwing sure went all out on that commercial, eh? I will hand it to them, that throttle rig is pretty darn cool.
Going coop on those rockets makes them much more accurate and gives them way better range if you lob them. I would attack that way rather than wait for a hellfire to track.
Thank god most of those missiles don’t seem to have a proximity fuse lol
i enjoy these chopper videos a lot. Kinda tired of jets, so it's a good shift to something different.
This mission remembred me the second stage of SNES Desert Strike, last objective if I no mistaked. Man I was so terrified by those SCUD missles launching timing...
Love it, I still play desert/urban strike a few times a year on genesis.
Yep. Great game. Definitely tricky on SCUD kill mission.
Taco, channeling GS: "Alright, let's give him something to think about..."
Can't wait to get the tree hugger addon (Longbow Radar)
Fantastic job G/S....
Really enjoyed that
That thing brings hell to the battlefield
That looks so sick!
Has anyone considered trying a tag team effort between an A-10 and AH-64 to hit some defenses? It was wargamed way back when and the pair seem to complement each other really well. JAWS was the acronym for the wargames but I can't find a good description of it now.
Yes, the DWAC group I am in does it all the time. We lase in the Apache and another in the A-10CII will search for the laser code and rifle on it or drop gbu's
duuude that winwing section thooo
You can play as SAMs in DCS?! That's awesome!!
Very nice clip👍
Do the grumbles have a MAR? Might be able to get close to the airfield with building cover and just do pop-up attacks with rockets. Save the guided stuff for moving targets.
Cool video!
These Apache vids are fun.. I'd like to see how the Hind would tackle some of these mission as the Tactics would be different
I would imagine the hind would be doing some low altitude surprise rocket runs
I would like to see this again with a team of Apaches, and in the future with Radar hellfires.
when George stores targets, can you recall any of them? for example, you store 3 targets as you traverse a gully- you then circle back- can you recall the first target, shoot, recall the second target, etc?
Nice and fresh
U need to do more videos like this with the other helicopters and more with the ah64. Bet there's sum cool stuff U can think of. I'd like to see u controlling the ground units
Epic video bro
Need to have Bruce Leroy flying them Helicopters.
that was so entertaining
That was awesome!! Loved it all.
In cses like this, I think having a infantry scout laser the tgts would make things a lot easier.
This was awesome
it was a very funny video... only the apache can back from the death... 🥳
Right on
Hey man, do you need a special HOTAS for helicopters? I ordered the Winwing Orion F/A-18 last week, and would love to get this module for DCS, but I don't want to feel like I need new equipment to fly it.
In this scenario, would it not have been easier to have hovered behind some peaks? I understand this would consume way more fuel n stuff, especially in this hot environment, but maybe the mission would have been quicker? Also, I have no clue where your home field is, so yeah. Would love to know what your take on this is.
Yeah, i was thinking the same!
In my head that has been the "right" thing to do
He knows you’re there. You know you’re there.
Swap to IR and use your rotor wash to kick up some dust to mask your position from the AA gunners?
i wonder how much more effective a pair of helos would be against those smart defenses
I remember Gunship on Amiga 2000
Nice one. Is there anything you cannot fly? 😄
Are you using a IR Tracking or VR? (can you tell me the peripherics are you using please).
I'd like to see this with the new radar hellfires..
🔥🔥🔥
I don’t really know how to do it with George, but LOAL Hellfire would be the thing to try I think 😅
omg the mission looks a lot like LHX attack chopper
Wheres the KA50 video GS? 👉👈🥺
Hard mission without even the longshot attachement 😂
hello, question, I tried to challenge the s-300 too, but I don't understand why the threats icon of the cmws panel does not light up
Any chance we can see what your buddy see from controlling the SAMs?
Well done sir, that content was WOW! Love your Apache vs. human ground forces stuff. Looking forward for more like this. Milan
love ya vis man but how come your not just hovering at the creast of the hill engage if needing to break contact then just drop down.
Helicopters are very vulnerable machines when you don't have complete air airspace control
I just want one of those Hotas control sticks. Who needs a PC?
Anti Radiation missile :- am i joke to u??
S-300 and TOR air defens system with missile shoot down capabilities: "Yes"
How come those aa missiles miss you by inches? Don't they have a proximity fuse?
Exactly what I thought.
That intro 🔥🔥🔥
Why wouldn’t you conduct your initial approach and attack from just outside side the urban areas? It seems the open topography doesn’t give you nearly enough cover to conduct pop up shots without being exposed to the ground defences.
In real life this video can be lesson learned...
In my opinion this seek-and-hide tactics will be anticipates by put some mobile man-pad SAM team on the hill
F16 vs mirage? I'ts been a while since i saw the mirage in your vids
Apache vs A10 dogfight
I know this is true for the Sa-15, but can the S-300 be player controlled through the combined arms DLC?
