    My question is where do I find a wife/girlfriend that would actually build a boat with me? You certainly don’t come across that everyday. You have done an amazing job on that thing, I’m really impressed!!!

    Thumbs up Brooke. This is one epic build. I love restoring old cars but the effort you & Dennis are doing is applaudable. Used what you had to make a Backyard boat slinging/ rigging machine is what makes our country so Great. Cheers.

    Okey, guys. As a proffesional boat builder (learned boat building in vocational school for 3 years and built yachts for 2 years) you two are doing TOP NOTCH QUALITY PROFFECIONAL WORK. I shit you not, its a joy to see all steps done RIGHT!!!

    Of course, now that you're almost done all the "experts" come out with what you 'should' have done ... as if you are commercial boat builders with all the heavy equipment in a fancy shop somewhere.
    To rebuild a boat this nicely, by hand , on the ground, in your backyard, I think you two did an absolutely amazing job! But then, I think you are absolutely amazing anyway! Beautiful job ... Great videos!

    Looks Awesome !
    I bought a 16` aluminum hull fishing boat. When I put it in the water, it had a bad lean to the driver`s side.
    I gutted the boat back to aluminum, tore out the sprayed in foam that was water logged causing the boat to lean.
    New floor boards. Outdoor carpeting, anchor winches front & rear with remote switches.
    85 HP Johnson. Pedal operated trolling motor. New driver & passenger seats from Cabela`s.
    My Dream Machine.
    I enjoyed it that summer, then arthritis took that from me as well. It`s too much to handle.

      @jackmehoff2961 5 років тому +1

      @Oscar Zamora lol, yes I did. It`s not for flotation, it`s for sound deadening.. I sprayed expanding foam down, where I had tore it out.

    Fantastic job guys, I used to build Thoroughbred Ski Boats, so I can appreciate the time and effort you've gone to, maybe you should now tear it apart and start taking some moulds and produce your little gem for the fishing industry. Well done! cheers, Wayne.

    Great video. I never thought of using the honeycomb board. Going to use alot of this information when I go to rebuild my boat. When I get the fallen tree out of it. Hurricane Michael hit us hard here in the Florida panhandle. So awesome you went with a mercury. Glad to see that

    Great job so far Brooke, a handy tip to know is that honeycomb board soaks up a lot of resin making it heavier than it should be, try giving it a light coat of resin first and let it dry then a light scuff before glassing properly, you will use a lot less resin and nearly halve the weight. Great work otherwise 😀

    Please tell Dennis in his green sledding hat that he doesn't deserve any pity. Tropical plants in the background and you. You would have to force me to wear clothes if I was him.

  • @jdog4534
    @jdog4534 5 років тому +2

    When you hoist the boat up like that, with just chokers no yoke, you put a lot of pressure in places it's not designed to handle and it can get crushed in from the sides due to it's own weight tugging inward. Some sort of yoke should be used to get the lift to come straight up, not from an angle. Save all that angling for the fish..
    Great job on the build and with all the video documentation. Thanks for posting..

    Just a tip when painting or applying the resin. After you sand down the hull in between coats of paint wipe the hull down with acetone which cleans and gets rid of any impurity’s

    Hahaha! So I’m not the only one that is a tinkerer, ... I bought a 1972 Sears 12’ GameFisher v-bow, & trailer for $200, ... an additional $250, $ a few accessories, (like a bow mount trolling-motor that was supposed to work by remote control, was eventually wired into 2 toggle switches, (1 momentary, in order to control the steering, and the other an on, off, on, switch, for forward reverse, ... the same as are used for raising/lowering a snowplow), ... and a 3rd switch which would allow me to turn on the trolling motor mounted on the stern, ... 42lb thrust, & a 55lb thrust respectively, ...both of the switches to power the motors were fwd/rev on full speed, but I figured it out quite well, ... plus I had enough below deck storage for 4 x 29 class deep cycle batteries, for which, I could either isolate the 2 in the front, or the 2 in the rear, or use all four, to squeeze every last ounce of energy necessary to run my 12’er for a whole week, ... lol, ... I too, changed out the transom wood, but it has to all be redone, as I had left it out in the weather, uncovered to the sun, rain, & snow, ... I brought a garbage-can around to the boat so I could try to remove rotted osb flooring I used to construct the flooring, as I could not balance my feet on the curved aluminum floor of the hull, ... I wound up with a mini bass boat configuration, & nobody could believe the almost 10 mph I could get out of the 2 trolling motors, ... in fact, I was warned on 1 lake I fished as we camped for a 4 night stay, just on the north side of Warsaw, Indiana, (little Barbee, & Big Barbee chain of lakes), ... about the no wake/10 mph speed limit, ...
