Вставка
- Опубліковано 30 вер 2018
- This little hull needed an overhaul and I wanted a new estuary boat to complement our fleet, so we got cracking on the refurbishment from hell. ↓↓MORE INFO BELOW↓↓
Time-consuming and a tricky process at times but it can be done. We are not professionals but have the drive to have a crack.
Episode #1 of three, stay tuned to see how we went with the whole re-build just in time for the Flathead Classic fishing competition.
Read all about this part of the refurb in the digital magazine Australian Boating Magazine. Issue #262 www.australianboatmags.com.au/...
Many thanks to all those who helped us out during the re-build, from supplies to information we were not shy of suggestions.

This is the best kind of video...extremely informative and not wasting my time by trying to be entertaining. I just removed the transom from our 23 foot cuddy and this video gives me confidence and eager anticipation going forward with my first use of fiberglass.
Yooooooo!!!!! That little tip about drilling the drainage/bung/scupper holes bigger so that your drilling though resin to stop future water ingress is legit the best thing I've heard in a long time for transom rebuilds!! 🤙🏻
I realize this was a while back.. however, the way you have shown and discussed your process, is truly appreciated.
I have been absorbing as much as I can from multiple amounts of shows, concerning exactly what you are doing!!
What a great surprise to see that what you have done is what I soon hope to be doing.
Thanks sooooo much.
From Oklahoma USA ❤️
When y'all cut out the 'rest of the interior', I knew you two humans were super human. Remarkable attention to detail! Thanks for sharing and showing how you did it!!!
Perfect timing to see this video... I was just given a 16' 6" (5.0292 meter) 1970 Glastron boat w/60hp Evenrude motor.
that was awesome! you make it look so easy. boating + fishing + home DIY + Brooke = killer entertainment.
I'm a commercial fiberglasser and this is beefy. Watched without sound and it was still satisfying. Super clean build my guy
Thank you very much. Xx
Wow that is a lot of work!
WELL DONE!
Looking forward to part 2
Looks like Dennis knows what he is doing , labor of love , Thanks for sharing ,.
Thank you for the videos. I'm getting ready to rip the floor out of an 18 hull that I purchased cheap and am watching lots of videos on the subject. You're detailed descriptions of process as well as components and rationale for choosing your particular methods was very helpful. I hope you're enjoying your boat. Liked.
Thanks for the tips! I’m about to start rebuilding an old fiberglass boat. My first time so will be referencing your channel. 👍
I was itchy just watching. You're a trooper! That's nasty, hard work. Can't wait to see it finished.
I was losing all faith in the boat I picked up for a project. This is the most detailed video I was able to find with a boat in similar condition! Thanks for posting! Cheers!
MavrikUSMC It definitely is one of the better quality videos for stringers. Do you know what fiberglass resin you plan on using?
Girl,you are great.Bravo!
Really looking forward to the next episode(s).
Absolutely fantastic video. Having custom built composite airplanes, I was very impressed with the detail and great videos as well as narration. Even with my vast experience, I didnt have the confidence or knowledge to tackle a boat. Now I do. I am now a big fan of Hooked on Brooke. You and your husband are over the top great
I just got done with a complete rebuild of my 17 ft. Starcraft. Not easy but worth every bit. My side business of pest control paid for all of it. I love how you show how important the use of proper safety equipment. Great video
looking good. Can't wait for part 2 👍
Great work guys! very well done !!! We are on the end of refurbishing our 37ft catamaran and we know its loads of work! , you guys did a awesome job!
Thank you guys. I was going to do my 18ft bonito center console and had no idea where to start. Thanks alot for your videos. They were VERY useful. Basically a walkthrough
Thanks for sharing! Awesome video. This video motivates me to work on my project boats.
Good job so far guys, can't wait to see the finished product.
Looking good Brooke it's a lot of work rebuilding a boat the end product looks awesome.
Really impressive work and dedication.
I love the detailed video and commentary... can't wait for the second episode
Probably one of the best informative videos I have ever watched and being able to follow the whole thing
Amazing work breathing life into that boat again. It deserves to be afloat for many years more after the work ye have put into it. Well done both of ye.
Brilliant job so far guys.It looks like a bloody lot of hard work.
Speak in post-production is always a good thing, makes it alot easier to work with.... Well done, guys....!
Looks great, well done guys.
You took on quite the challenge with that water logged hull. But, you are doing a great job so far in refitting it. Looks fantastic so far.
I am deeply impressed about your work
Amazing work, you guys are pro. wish I saw this before learning on the job with my old Haines.
Mint video. Your narrative skills are amazing.
😂 they are getting better but thank you.
I have seen This Video since it was Brand New so many times, and dreamed so much about having one of my own....
Now that I finally have one TO REBUILD... I'm again watching this with All Passion !
Thank You so much !
.❤
Wow, ambitious. Great work
great job brook seen some of the adventures you guys have been on in this boat and it's done great
Awesome video upload Brooke. One hell of a project you have taken on there, let’s just hope it pays off being one giant fish magnet of a boat.
This is awesome to watch! Thank you for inviting us!
wow.. a LOT of work as I have done this before.. a boat I got ( mainly for the outboard that was on it ) was just like this.. my transom was ok, but the floor and stringers were all rotten after I cut out the floor for soft spots... made a center board, new stringers on the bottom of the hull, made bulkheads, drilled large holes through all of them, and then used expandable foam to make the thing a flotation hull... a LOT of work.. turned out nice.. most trouble was calculating exactly how much expandable foam mixture to pour in each section !!! as the hull changed volume front to back it was interesting when we got a bit too much in the rear section and a bunch of us had to get in and stand on the floor to keep it from lifting !!! oh yeah, we had holes drilled in each section / compartment of the newly layed top floor... then I glassed everything up after that... turned out great but man, what a lot of work.... its been soo many years ago I'm thinking that I used some talc and resin to make up my paste for all the joints and I set my stringer in it too to glue them in place before I glassed them in.... you guy's did a nice job on the boat...
Great video! Transom looks great!
I suspect these people have installed fiberglass many times before. I have heard of attempts by DIY people that failed and they resulted to paying a professional. These people are pros and make it look easy.
When I redid my transom on my 85 Aquasport, I used 1708 bi axle and Raka epoxy ,I made a full transom with an armstrong outboard bracket.
Great job, thx for sharing
Awesome job
Nice job guys
Great work guys!!!keep making this videos
I love what you did with the bung holes - very clever.
Cant wait for the next project
great job...nice teamwork
Good video brook looks wicked
So..... the amateur way of re doing a boat.... is to build a boat basically. Haha wow amazing job. I just got a 1977 stern drive 17 foot silver line Nantucket for free and it has a badly water logged subfloor. You two are a great help.
inspiring stuff! thank you!!
Awesome job.
Stubbled into this video... I have NO desire to buy or repair a boat in the future. I’m a car restoration guy. I will say you guys did a great job with this project!!
Oh the memories of summer time in the boat shed grinding the dags off the end-grain balsa deck laminate, in nothing more than a singlet and shorts.... nightmares more like it ! I'll stick to ally and wood thank you ;)
Good work 👍
It's always FUN-IN-THE-SUN tearing stuff apart! But then that's when you find stuff that you didn't know you'd find = Mo-Money!
I have the same boat but with a cabin :) it goes great with a 115 Suzuki on it :) I just bought a bigger 20 footer of unknown origin as a project boat :)
Super job!!!
excellent work
good job you guys !
18' Bayhawk for me. Like you I erased the interior and built what I wanted. I filled between the hull, floor and stringers with expanding polyurethane foam which made the boat incredibly stiff. I havent thought of cabosil in years. Looking great, I havent watch the rest yet so I dont know how it turned out until I get there.
Nice job
Yep I'm itchy now lol, nice video!!
hey there I have the same sorts of hull design with a 3/4 cabin and a 50 hp mercury, she is awesome to start my trimaran design out on.... thanks for the entertaining tips n tricks. 😂😂😂😂😂😂

We just did a total overhaul and posted our Project Boat video. I do not know how we did it as these jobs are so much work. The only thing that I think got me through was knowing she would be ready to sail around the world when we were done!
It doesn't look too amateur to me. Looks like a Pro Job! Woo Hoo!
Got my 1963 14 'er worthy to be on the water. i know your excitement

Love y’all some chop! Wouldn’t have hurt to throw in a layer of woven roving on the transom.
You guy's have done a wonderful job it came out beautiful and amazing to see what you have done , from junk to a $17 or $18.0000 thousand dollar boat ! Congratulations and I wish you all the miles that motor can go !! One in a million you are !!
