      As effective as it may seems it has serious limitations and therefore only works with certain types of plants. Though, the number of plants is so huge that life time of a man would not be enough to try grow even only those types of plants. Though, with more people joining efforts it can be done ;)

      I only know one way to achieve what you want - selective breeding. Choose fish among those that you have that have the most closest characteristics to what you want...and breed it...repeat the process for number of generations until get the desirable strain.

    how much water do these plants need? The leaves keep falling off thanks

    • @4me
      @4me  11 місяців тому +1

      It depends mostly on the size of the plant. My plant was small - so, it takes very little water.
      The leaves falling off for number of reasons. It may happen during adaption period most frequently. And when plant tries to save resources - increasing amount of nutrition may help it. Also, the amount of light is much less during cold season. Amount of light has great effect on all plants. In regards to the light - I would reposition the plant/tank to see if helps. Everything with plants takes time to see the results.

    • @4me
      @4me  4 роки тому +2

      You have a fish pond?! I love that :)
      I always put wild samples in a separate nursery for observation - quarantine it before moving into main aquarium. Be safe is better than be sorry ;)
      River moss would certainly come with river critters - some could be dangerous to your fish. And there could be filamentous algae - something very hard to remove from aquariums.

    Can u say how to introduce beneficial bacteria naturally in aquarium for water cycling

    • @4me
      @4me  3 роки тому +2

      Add gravel, plants and whatever else you want to add into your aquarium as you set it up. All those items comes with bacteria. Let the aquarium sit for a couple weeks - that is enough time for bacteria to colonize any size tank. That's all to it.

    • @4me
      @4me  4 роки тому +1

      @@donovanjones8838 Well, if it is not a temperature fluctuation than you should have no worries - density population of all organisms grow up to the maximum permitted by available resources (space, food and etc.) then declines rapidly to the minimum (or complete extinction). Split the colony on two or more to keep and breed them separately, occasionally mixing them is one way to prevent extinction. Removing part of population before it reach the maximum pick of density helps to prevent collapse of the entire colony ;)

    Do you recommend this plant for aquariums with the right conditions?

    • @4me
      @4me  3 роки тому +1

      I still have this plant growing in one of my1 liter sustainable aquariums with snails (no fish). The plant grows slowly, it is small enough to look beautiful in this small garden. I usually prefer and recommend to grow different types of plants (fast and slow growing) in each aquarium. This way plants and aquariums get the most mutual benefits.
      So, I do recommend it.
