My dad's branch generated several more plants, a couple he gave to my brother. The plants my dad had died, but the ones he gave my brother thrived and turned into monsters like their parent plant. Yay! You DID do a video about jades! I became foster plant mom to many of my daughter's plants. In addition to my already existing plants, I now have over 200 plants, and all of these I have cuttings waiting to grow roots and be their own plants and so forth. She had 4 jades and I have been driving myself nuts with the watering! I thought succulent... don't water! They store water in their leaves, so I would only mist when it seemed extremely dry, but then I'd think "well, a little water can't hurt it" and then it'd get soggy leaves, and I would panic thinking I over watered and I would go back and forth not knowing what to do! These jades are only part of her succulent collection, plus I had a few of my own too. It's good to know I can water anything with treated water, but only when the soil is dry, and from watching some of your other videos in addition to this one, I have an idea of how to propegate the Jade now too. Although I'll be re- watching those again before I try that myself. That's kinda scary to make that first cut. 😬 Anyway, the one thing I still need to learn well is how to fertilize what... and when... and who and who not and what...oh my. Thank you for your videos! I have a monster jade that my dad planted many years ago. The house is now mine and the jade is still a monster. It gets plenty of water from the air conditioner drain in the summer. It is on the east side of the house. I have recently started a stem cutting for a house plant. After watching your video, I got a monster meter like you suggested. It has stopped me from over watering all my plants. Love watching your videos and your sense of humor has made learning fun. Keep it up!
I have made the exact same mistake of underwatering my jade plant and the leaves started to become soft and mooshy. Which made me think that I overwatered and I waited even longer. Then some of the stems started to fall off. I dug out the roots and didn’t spot any rot so that’s when I realised I have been depriving my plant of water. So now I always water when the soil has completely dried out, and it’s never been happier!
My grandmother gave me a 2” cutting probably two/ three… maybe four years ago now, her plant has died off (it was a gift), but mine now stands at about 12in /30cm and I have at least three babies from that one 😅 I hope to keep it alive for a long long time!
I basically made the same mistake with my trailing jade! Once I realized my grave error, she’s getting way more sun and care than I thought she needed!
I was having exactly the same issue with my variegated jade. I kept thinking I was overwatering it but apparently it likes water almost daily! It gets water every 2nd day. I’m in Perth and our summers are very hot. 🇦🇺
I agree, the water meter IS the best thing since sliced bread. I have enjoyed growing houseplants since the 70’s …and YOU my plant friend put me on to it, THANK YOU!
I have a jade plant that is outside, next to my front door. She is over 3 feet tall and loves being watered every week. She gets regular trims and a few months ago I trimmed about 4 inches off of her roots and gave her all fresh soil. I do wrap her in a blanket when frost is possible. I live in California, so most of the year she is just fine. 😎
I only started venturing into the world of plants this past year. Just wanted to say I think you’re my favorite plant UA-camr. My husband likes watching you too.
Just bought my first Jade. Here's to hoping I can keep her alive and kicking over the winter. Thank you for the helpful tips and tricks (that moisture meter is a life saver!)
Yep, they definitely seem to do well with frequent watering. My Gollum was looking stressed & dehydrated with its once a week watering so I started watering it every 2-3 days during our summers here in a Perth. 🇦🇺I also noticed during heavy rain stretches in winter time it wouldn’t look soggy and ready to burst like many of my other more sensitive succulents did. I never had to coddle it and put it out of the rain. I should also mention I have always grown it & repotted it up in terracotta pots so it never gets drowned because of how the water evaporates away better in terracotta.
This is very educational! Can you make a whole video about things that make plant look sick but are actually normal? Like red edges of jade or guttation(this one freaked me out first time)
We had a monster jade plant for years, my grandmother had grown it and given it to my mom. Recently, against my wishes, my mom gave our jade away to a family friend. I was devestated! Or I was... until we found the tiniest little jade sprout next to where we had the original jade! I guess the jade didn't want to leave after all!
Great tips. It actually is even simpler than using a gadget. Just give a jade leaf a gentle squeeze. Firm? Plenty of water in there. Starting to soften, AND the soil doesn't look moist, it's getting thirsty, give a good drink, and then check firmness a couple of hours later to see the change. Check the firmness of the leaves next day to get a sense of what it feels like when full of water.
Also, am I the only weirdo that apologizes to my plants when I cut them? I talk to them too 😂 tell them how beautiful they are and how much I love them. I do this because of the studies I’ve read that prove plants flourish under positive energy- which comes from their atmospheres, and yes taking nice to them is very beneficial to their growth. So if you’re in a toxic relationship, your plants feel that pain too and that’s why they’re not growing so well and vice versa 😂 no joke. I’m deadass about all of this, check it out for yourself!
Just purchased two Jade plants because of your videos Mr. Sheffield They were never my favorite plants but I do well with succulents so I decided to try them. Always enjoy your chanel and the very helpful tips.
I’ve killed so many jade plants I was given a cutting months ago it’s growing tall. In front of window but here in Indiana we have not seen sun for two months few hours here and there. So now I will trim it. I’ve learned lots from this video. THANK YOU FOR DOING IT ❤
I just found a mini jade plant that must’ve flown into my yard during the hurricane. I love plants but idk much about this one so I’m on the internet learning. It still has its roofs attached, which is great. I want to keep it indoor. I read it needs bright light and lots of it, so perhaps it won’t flourish inside. But I’m gonna give it a spot in front of a big window and hope it grows well. Cute video, loved the Em rap part 😂 I’ve subscribed too 😅
I love your videos! From footage quality to writing, even acting. So calming and at the same time I really learnt a lot from you! When I started your videos I only had one Monstera Var. but now I have +50 different species and all of them very healthy, kudos to you!
Absolutely Fantastic video, I now want to run out and purchase another one, I gave up on having this plant decades ago because I was told it was like a cactus and don’t water it well it died😢 The comment section is great finding out about different varieties of the Jade plant, saving all jade plant videos to play list 👍🏾 Blessings 💜💚
I went on holiday for 2 weeks...forgot to turn on the grow lights...upon returning back home all the larger lower leaves fell off. There is a lot of new growth though, so perhaps it was a good thing as it may start to branch out now... I have propagated by leaf and one has a pup this was from June time to now. I have them in perlite on my windowsill.
Thank you for this educational video. I have 4 jade plants. One ogre ear and 3 of the kind you showed in your video. They 3 are very young. My ogre ears are two years old and growing like crazy. They are quickly becoming my favorite plants in my collection.
As a Michigan gal I appreciated the Eminem! Last fall I snipped the top of my daughters jade. It needed it. Brought the little guy home, covered the wound in cinnamon, waited a day, and now I have the start of a beautiful jade. They are the funnest plant to prop!
I must be pretty good at growing Jade plants. 😊I have sold 2 that were over 3 feet high. When I pot up my Jade, I buy a clay pot and make a tag with date and price of pot. When they get too big for me, I sell them to friends for the price of the pot. 2 will get sold in the spring and I’ll have 2 more to grow until they get too big for me.
Jade plant is the most easy plant to grow. If you make any mistake, it wouldn't take long to correct it. Mine blooms every winter with a lot of little, white flowers and I love it. In the summer it changes colours at sun and looks like a bonsai tree.
@@QueenGail I'm in Zagreb, a capital of Croatia, so we have a standard continental climate conditions. But I must say that it is very important to keep a jade plant in the winter by the window and not on a temperature that exceeds 12 degrees of Celsius. I'm keepeing mine on the stairs by the small north Windows at 10 degrees only. It's always a problem for growers that they can't brag about the beauty of such plants in front of their friends and relatives, but that's why we have cameras. Love for the well-being of our plants should always surpass our vanity! It's the same with the Christmas cactus, it will go crazy with flowers in a cold place! If we move it to a warm room, all its flowers will fall within a few days. That cactus didn't give itself the name Christmas, we invented that ourselves, it's not his fault.
@@ekscentar1 Wow, thanks. I had a Christmas cactus that bloomed twice for me, then I moved it into a warmer room because I adopted a cat and no more blooms it lasted a couple of years withering away slowly 🥺until it finally bit the dust so to speak, thanks again for sharing your knowledge Blessings 💜💚
@@QueenGail To be honest, everything I learned about growing plants I learned from excellent specialist books long before the internet. I notice that there is a lot of misinformation on the Internet that only confuses people and leads them astray. It seems like we live in a time where everyone is just trying to disprove everything that has been scientifically proven before internet exist. Read professional books, they will really teach you and give you much more enthusiasm than any modern bloggers. Out of 10 things on the Internet, I use only one, and 9 are suspicious or obviously incorrect.
Your jades look beautiful and healthy. My jade unfortunately is like a stick now with a few baby leaves. All of the big leaves have fallen after my hand accidentally bumped into them 😢 but I hope to learn more from you on how to better take care of it.
I've actually had really good (90+%) luck growing these from leaves. Takes a really long time for them to get to any appreciable size though. Semi-related but I'm going to have to figure out how to get rid of 20 or 30 of these things soon.
Mine lives happily in leca ... didn't miss a beat when I switched it out of soil ... it gets plenty of natural light ... North facing window in Australia
Never pruned mine and it is constantly moist seldomly fertilized. My Jade loves this and grows like it wants to win a price. But I have to admin here is most probably way more sun than at Mr. Sheffields house. :) Beautiful plants thought!
I LOVE getting up to a new Sheffield video! This one was interesting. I ordered a tricolor jade a while back and when it arrived, it wasn't what I expected. I realized that it was NOT a tricolor jade. The only pink on it was at the very tip of some leaves (I'm assuming it was the anthocyanin). I'm happy with my verigated jade though, I do love the white and green swirl patterns. Thanks for another interesting video! Also, if anyone is trying to learn when their jade needs water and you don't have a moisture meter (you SHOULD get one though), pinch your leaves. There should be very little give. If the begin getting soft, even slightly, it's time to water.
I have a tri color jade too. It was also only white and green when I bought it. I've had it about a year now under bright grow lights and it has the old set of leaves, which are white and green, as well as two new sets that are white, red, and green. I suspect you have a Tricolor jade that didn't get enough light to bring out the third color, but is the correct species.
@@blackburned Thank you! I've never had nor seen a tricolor in real life so I appreciate your comment. I've seen some that the colors are very defined, almost as stripes (almost) but mine has a much more swirly, marbled appearance. As I said, I love it regardless. Lol. Maybe I'll try a stronger light for it.
@lindsey4178 interesting that you mostly have swirls rather than stripes on your leaves! It's cool how each plant is a little different. Mine has some swirls and some stripes. I noticed the underside and edge of new leaves are the first to start turning red if they get enough light. Good luck to you and your plant. Agreed they are beautiful with or without the red 😊
One reason to propagate from individual leaves is that there is an increased chance of multiple stems sprouting from one root system, a leaf I propagated after pruning early this year has grown into a baby plant with 5 stems! Maybe not always desirable but certainly unique.
the video I needed. I was offered one of these, never wanted one, so I never bothered to look up the best way to take care of it. But even if I don't like it that much, I don't like to see it get black spots on its leaves and then dropping them.
Jade plants are very resilient. I moved from Southern California to Northern California which is wetter and has lower temperatures in winter. I brought my jade curly jade and gollum jades along and all are in large containers in cactus soil since the soil here is clay. They sit on a rock border under eaves of house 🏡 and surprisingly they have all adapted well to the climate change. They’re approximately 2 feet tall with trunks about 9 inches diameter and receive water during hot summer months and none during winter. I’m bragging 😅but my point is they are very hardy and resilient plants 🪴. If I was only this successful with all my plants I’d be in plant heaven 😊Love your videos Richard I so enjoy them.
Just saw a pic of a 4’ tall x 3’ wide Jade plant in full bloom in Jan! Owner gives it coffee grounds. Kept in front of large window. Currently low light.🤩 Whidbey Island, WA.❤
Your plants look so healthy and happy !! Such a helpful video. I have killed my jade and snake plants by overwatering. I'm determined to keep the next batch alive. Please tell me what's the big beautiful red plant in the hanging pot behind you? I'm guessing it's Begonia?
Mr Shefffield I have recently watched a lot of your videos and learned so much thank you. You have inspired me to increase my small collection and also propagate some that I already have. Sometimes in the videos it shows you top watering and other times you bottom watering. Is there a reason why you do one rather than the other. Maybe I have missed the video explaining this. I love that you have taken the complicated part about when to water and made it easy to determine this. By the way my 6 year old granddaughter thinks you are so funny. 😀🇨🇦
My jade does well out of near-total neglect, constant watering and regular feeding with seaweed. It's monstrous! (it does live in a roasty-toasty conservatory all year round mind)
I would love to find a moisture meter that actually works properly. I did have one for years which worked perfectly but then finally stopped working. I purchased one which did not work at all, remained in the dry zone despite thoroughly watering. Returned it and purchased another one. Similar thing but not quite as bad, sometimes reads dry a lot so not sure now whether to really believe it. My parlour palm felt damp with my finger but bone dry with the meter. I will start looking for another one.
We had a huge jade plant when we lived in sunny hot S California until we had a rare hard freeze. Since it had spent its life out on the front porch it wasn’t possible to protect it. It was a horrifying so I quickly salvaged any viable stems and created a new plant from the original. They prefer sunnier dryer climates.
I got one one of the new mini sansi clip on grow lights on my Jade. I also removed some 20 leaves since it's actively growing and was crowding itself. Ive only had these 3 wee tiny lights for about 9 days so all i can really say is my Maranta seems very pleased as does my string of bananas and tradescantia, the foot candles were around 1500 so i put one on my Jade. So far so good and despite having three very different leave types, paper thin, succulent and slightly thicker leaves I've got no burning on any of them. I also love that i can set them to be on for 12 hours and they come back on at the same time each day so I'm not having to turn them on. Sansi should sponsor me at this point since nearly every lightbulb in my house is Sansi 🤣 but for real, i get extremely bad migraines (the whole am i possessed types) and the Sansi bulbs and grow lights do not trigger them! That's a miracle in itself and makes the bulbs worth every penny (esp when i get a discount!)
All my succulents go outside from May-October. They relish the driving summer rains and bright summer sun in south wales uk. I bring them inside over winter and don’t water them until March. I’ve had them for 20 years .
No way I'd ever plant these in anything other than chunky/rocky, well drainiining soil. They are native to South Africa, in dry/rocky conditions. Pumice, chick grit, perlite, akadama, ect.....these are great soil amendments for jade!
Hellooo amazing video! Just bought my first jade yesterday🥰 I have a question for the soil regarding propergation with the stems, should i use soil made for succulents? Or normal houseplant soil?
Great advice there Mr Shefield 😉,we well i had some stunning Jade plants ,we moved home and wife said they are not coming in the house 🤨,lost the lot 😮💨 well we are starting again well me really ,have you ever got your Jade's to "FLOWER" 🤔 me once long time ago , a house i pass daily has some of the best Jade's in Flower i have ever seen 🥰,one more question some of the best Jade's are in Chinese takeaways what is their secret ,the heat 🤔 or something in the tea 🤨 ,thanks again 👌
I think I might put my Jades back into soil. I transferred them into succulent mix when I got them which is pretty much mostly gravel. Maybe I should repot them (they're small but healthy) and add more compost to the succulent mix....
If you fertilize regularly it shouldn't matter. The biggest advantage I know of growing Jade in rich soil is that it can extract nutrients from it, but if you're fertilizing a nutrient deficient soil it should be the same
I have a bit more love for my jade now, it’s had the equivalent of a dad fringe hair cut ( he couldn’t be bothered with scissors, used his electric shaver and mowed my eyebrows off ) Is it just me or do all Chinese takeaways have gorgeous Jade plants in the window?
In China, where feng shui originated, jade plants are believed to bring good luck and fortune to the home or business it is in. You probably encounter Chinese homes/businesses primarily when you get Chinese take out which is why you associate them with that
@@blackburned that’s interesting thank you. I like to think it’s a unique talent handed down through the generations. I hadn’t considered the feng shui aspect of plant placement except that Ive been avoiding spiky cactus plants. One of my favourite UA-camrs is Cliff Tan of DearModern, clearly I need to study more. Sheff, any chance of a video on Feng Shui for our plant collections?
My jade plants' issues are that the leaves are curving down, growing into the stem, than breaking. My gollum jade is doing well though. I have them all in a west-facing window shelf.
I Live in Maryland usa. May 1st i put it outside direct sun all day. I water it almost everyday. the leaves plump up, tips turn purple and it grows like crazy. BUT....come Oct plants come in placed in southern facing window and don't get water again till Tax day (April 15th) It lives off the water in the leaves, and trunk. I have killed a Beautiful huge Jade by overwatering it in the winter....no moister meter back then.
I followed your instructions and trimmed mine, not good. It has bare branches and not bushy at all, I do use the meter and it has SANSI lights all the time.
I’ve had my in a somewhat shady south facing window. I’m about to get a plant light 😢 I’m wondering how to get my stem thick so it looks more like a tree

Or I was... until we found the tiniest little jade sprout next to where we had the original jade! I guess the jade didn't want to leave after all!
Score!
Awh. How kwel was that!!? How is the Baby Jade doing today? 🌱
Mine just started to get purple edges, thought it was dying 🤣 glad I watched this!
I love your water meter Mr Sheffield. I can’t do without it now. Thanks for another great video 🙏
Glad you like it JS
2:57 😂😂😂😂 love this! Love mr Sheffields humour! Antidepressant for plant lovers😊❤
Thank you 😊
I do recommend your channel to everyone with houseplant troubles/questions or whatsoever
funny stuff too
Legend!
Agreed! I have sent many a Sheffield videos to my mother. LOL
Are you an artist? Because you’re really good at drawing me in.
😂
Hehe 😜
I'm gonna try this line out and see if it works in my favour
🤣🤣
😂😂😂
Honestly my fav plant UA-camr! His videos are always so informative with the perfect sprinkling of humour with every fact he delivers 😂
Wow, thank you!
Just purchased two Jade plants because of your videos Mr. Sheffield They were never my favorite plants but I do well with succulents so I decided to try them. Always enjoy your chanel and the very helpful tips.
Great job!
I’ve killed so many jade plants I was given a cutting months ago it’s growing tall. In front of window but here in Indiana we have not seen sun for two months few hours here and there. So now I will trim it. I’ve learned lots from this video. THANK YOU FOR DOING IT ❤
My pleasure 😊
I just found a mini jade plant that must’ve flown into my yard during the hurricane. I love plants but idk much about this one so I’m on the internet learning. It still has its roofs attached, which is great. I want to keep it indoor. I read it needs bright light and lots of it, so perhaps it won’t flourish inside. But I’m gonna give it a spot in front of a big window and hope it grows well. Cute video, loved the Em rap part 😂 I’ve subscribed too 😅
Thanks!
Been working on my jade plants! Just ordered from your Amazon store page.
I’m not sure I’ve ever seen such healthy plants. Thanks for sharing this.
I love your videos! From footage quality to writing, even acting. So calming and at the same time I really learnt a lot from you! When I started your videos I only had one Monstera Var. but now I have +50 different species and all of them very healthy, kudos to you!
Oh there is even rapping included, spotify when? :D
Thank you very much 😁. I’m working on my debut album 😂
Absolutely Fantastic video, I now want to run out and purchase another one, I gave up on having this plant decades ago because I was told it was like a cactus and don’t water it well it died😢
The comment section is great finding out about different varieties of the Jade plant, saving all jade plant videos to play list 👍🏾
Blessings 💜💚
Thanks! You should deffo try again.
A blessing in disguise maybe
I tossed mine out, but I got a cute small leafed jade which is looking good. I don't care it's growing slow. It is adorable.❤ have a blessed day.
Sounds great! You too
✝️👍
Thank you for this educational video. I have 4 jade plants. One ogre ear and 3 of the kind you showed in your video. They 3 are very young. My ogre ears are two years old and growing like crazy. They are quickly becoming my favorite plants in my collection.
I love em too 😁
As a Michigan gal I appreciated the Eminem!
Last fall I snipped the top of my daughters jade. It needed it. Brought the little guy home, covered the wound in cinnamon, waited a day, and now I have the start of a beautiful jade. They are the funnest plant to prop!
I love propping these.
Seems like you know what you’re doing 😁
Jade plant is the most easy plant to grow. If you make any mistake, it wouldn't take long to correct it. Mine blooms every winter with a lot of little, white flowers and I love it. In the summer it changes colours at sun and looks like a bonsai tree.
That sounds beautiful 🤩 May I ask what part of the world are you in?
Blessings 💜💚
Very nice. Never got mine to bloom
@@ekscentar1 Wow, thanks. I had a Christmas cactus that bloomed twice for me, then I moved it into a warmer room because I adopted a cat and no more blooms it lasted a couple of years withering away slowly 🥺until it finally bit the dust so to speak, thanks again for sharing your knowledge
Blessings 💜💚
@@QueenGail To be honest, everything I learned about growing plants I learned from excellent specialist books long before the internet. I notice that there is a lot of misinformation on the Internet that only confuses people and leads them astray. It seems like we live in a time where everyone is just trying to disprove everything that has been scientifically proven before internet exist. Read professional books, they will really teach you and give you much more enthusiasm than any modern bloggers. Out of 10 things on the Internet, I use only one, and 9 are suspicious or obviously incorrect.
Mr Sheffield… can you do a video about baby Jade plants, when to prune them the first time etc.. Thanks ❤
Make a few pennies on FB
Yard sale, farmer's market, eBay, Etsy, FB, etc.... 😊
Mine lives happily in leca ... didn't miss a beat when I switched it out of soil ... it gets plenty of natural light ... North facing window in Australia
Great stuff 👍
Never pruned mine and it is constantly moist seldomly fertilized. My Jade loves this and grows like it wants to win a price. But I have to admin here is most probably way more sun than at Mr. Sheffields house. :) Beautiful plants thought!
My jade plant is super healthy thanks to your videos
Thanks for the tip 😁👍
Dude, you gotta let Em know you rocked his lyrics! Someone has to send him a link.
Great content my man!
😂
Great tips I play Letta Mbulu for my Jade, she doesn't even need watering I swear she just grows to the sky 🌿
One reason to propagate from individual leaves is that there is an increased chance of multiple stems sprouting from one root system, a leaf I propagated after pruning early this year has grown into a baby plant with 5 stems! Maybe not always desirable but certainly unique.
Interesting. Not seen it myself yet
I love how fun this video is!! Thank you for the information ❤
Glad you enjoyed it!
Your videos are great! Informative and very funny 🎉
Thank you 😊
the video I needed. I was offered one of these, never wanted one, so I never bothered to look up the best way to take care of it. But even if I don't like it that much, I don't like to see it get black spots on its leaves and then dropping them.
Great stuff 👍
Just got a baby one today! Thank you for all you do 🌹
Good luck!!
Omgosh I just sprayed my coffee while drinking it everywhere when he started singing 😂😂
🤣
Thanks! They sure are
😊😂❤ i love watching your videos. Informative and comic. Always puts a smile on my face. Thank you!
Glad you enjoy it!
Very good, and extremely helpful.
Just saw a pic of a 4’ tall x 3’ wide Jade plant in full bloom in Jan! Owner gives it coffee grounds. Kept in front of large window. Currently low light.🤩 Whidbey Island, WA.❤
Never seen one flower before 🤯
Funny and informative @ the same time- a rare combination 🎉
Cheers!
Your plants look so healthy and happy !! Such a helpful video. I have killed my jade and snake plants by overwatering. I'm determined to keep the next batch alive. Please tell me what's the big beautiful red plant in the hanging pot behind you? I'm guessing it's Begonia?
Yes begonia red flame
Mr Shefffield I have recently watched a lot of your videos and learned so much thank you.
You have inspired me to increase my small collection and also propagate some that I already have. Sometimes in the videos it shows you top watering and other times you bottom watering. Is there a reason why you do one rather than the other. Maybe I have missed the video explaining this. I love that you have taken the complicated part about when to water and made it easy to determine this. By the way my 6 year old granddaughter thinks you are so funny. 😀🇨🇦
Thanks! I generally bottom water but show both in the vids
😂😂😂😂 you're the greatest plant comedian ever!!
I try 😂
Okayyy, you convinced me to try parenting a plant again. I just had a lovely coconut palm go dry and crispy on me even though I watered it 😖
You’ve got this ✊
I have a 17 cm tall jade plant. Grown 3 years ago
My jade does well out of near-total neglect, constant watering and regular feeding with seaweed. It's monstrous! (it does live in a roasty-toasty conservatory all year round mind)
That’ll work 👍
Youre so fun to watch, and to learn from ☺️ ty
Appreciate that!
Thanks for another great video!
Thanks for watching 😁
I would love to find a moisture meter that actually works properly. I did have one for years which worked perfectly but then finally stopped working. I purchased one which did not work at all, remained in the dry zone despite thoroughly watering. Returned it and purchased another one. Similar thing but not quite as bad, sometimes reads dry a lot so not sure now whether to really believe it. My parlour palm felt damp with my finger but bone dry with the meter. I will start looking for another one.
5:24 that simple wooden shelf is something I should probably look at finding to put in front of my window
It’s great
@verneukteaap it was made for me by a joiner
Yes that’s very true, mines love water and they got so big.
I always love the edit in of the B roll of the plant toss into the bin (or as we call it on my side of the pond…the trash can). 😂
Haha Thanks!
Richard now has this American referring to trash cans as ‘bins’ and my children look at me like I have 4 heads every time. 😅
@@amberscott7831 haha it’s bin all the way here
Wasn’t expecting you to turn into a comedian. I had a few spit-take moments from those 😂
😁
This was standing fine, and just a couple days ago abruptly began to guess leaves and trunk break, although I watered the same as the year before 😢
How are the roots?
That's great! Glad you're enjoying the SANSI lights. I keep adding more and more 😅
Liked and subscribed yet?
NOOOOO??? Shame on your family.
Go on, show some love to Mr Sheff and the community 💚💫🪴
I know right 😂
All my succulents go outside from May-October. They relish the driving summer rains and bright summer sun in south wales uk. I bring them inside over winter and don’t water them until March. I’ve had them for 20 years .
Sounds good
Haha I love the yoga with Adrienne reference
Interesting and fun, I love your clips!
Thanks!
1:17..that face 😂 love it... And yet again, clean bin 😂😂😂😂
🤣
No way I'd ever plant these in anything other than chunky/rocky, well drainiining soil. They are native to South Africa, in dry/rocky conditions. Pumice, chick grit, perlite, akadama, ect.....these are great soil amendments for jade!
Most def 👍
Hellooo amazing video! Just bought my first jade yesterday🥰 I have a question for the soil regarding propergation with the stems, should i use soil made for succulents? Or normal houseplant soil?
Soil made for succulents
@@SheffieldMadePlants thank youuu
When you started rapping Eminem, I lost it! 😂 Love your videos. Thanks for helping me take care of my plant babies. 😊
Thanks for watching 😁
lol the opening line killed me. He read me like a book
Neat, thanks for the info. Jade is native to the south east coast of Africa.
Wow, Your amazing!
Very informative
Excellent !
Cheers 🇨🇦
Thank you kindly!
Beautiful and amazing jade plant so lovely collection beautiful
Thanks!
Super helpful video, and entertaining! How often do you check your plants with the moisture meter? All plants or just jades? Thanks!
Every week and every plant
Great advice there Mr Shefield 😉,we well i had some stunning Jade plants ,we moved home and wife said they are not coming in the house 🤨,lost the lot 😮💨 well we are starting again well me really ,have you ever got your Jade's to "FLOWER" 🤔 me once long time ago , a house i pass daily has some of the best Jade's in Flower i have ever seen 🥰,one more question some of the best Jade's are in Chinese takeaways what is their secret ,the heat 🤔 or something in the tea 🤨 ,thanks again 👌
No I’ve had mine flowering. I’ve not got enough sun
I think I might put my Jades back into soil. I transferred them into succulent mix when I got them which is pretty much mostly gravel. Maybe I should repot them (they're small but healthy) and add more compost to the succulent mix....
Either will work really. They'll be nutrients in the soil though
If you fertilize regularly it shouldn't matter. The biggest advantage I know of growing Jade in rich soil is that it can extract nutrients from it, but if you're fertilizing a nutrient deficient soil it should be the same
thank you! @@blackburned
@@thevahandbook I would keep them in a mix rich in mineral components for sure. They naturally grow in rocky soil in South Africa.
I have a bit more love for my jade now, it’s had the equivalent of a dad fringe hair cut ( he couldn’t be bothered with scissors, used his electric shaver and mowed my eyebrows off )
Is it just me or do all Chinese takeaways have gorgeous Jade plants in the window?
We have two water meters. Always enjoy your videos. Thanks also for the updates.❤
Ooo great idea. 2 is always better than 1
One is for the upstairs plants and the other for the downstairs plants. Use it more often than expected, great tool.
I followed your instructions and trimmed mine, not good. It has bare branches and not bushy at all, I do use the meter and it has SANSI lights all the time.
How long has it been?
Love, love, love your videos!❤
Thanks!
I’ve had my in a somewhat shady south facing window. I’m about to get a plant light 😢 I’m wondering how to get my stem thick so it looks more like a tree
