This is probably the most helpful video on cutting men's hair that I've found on YT so far, especially where the basics are concerned. I would have polished it up differently, but that's just a matter of personal preference. I got more out of this video than I did from cosmetology school. Thank you. Your model has a gorgeous head of hair!
Thank you Mike. You are an amazing teacher. I tired this scissor cut on my family member with about the same hair length. I should have taken before and after pics but it was truly transformation and I really did not think I could do it so well. Your voice kept guiding me “ plastic between the scissorsv and ear”. :) . I did not use the clippers except if cleaning and refining the lines. Your partitions really helped. Now, I could not do the comb flipping at all but used my fingers throughout like you did at the beginning. Overall not great as your work but for now I’m super happy. Thanks for teaching !
Before watching this video I was lost on this type of haircuts, after watching it the very next day I had to do the same cut and I followed the steps and it came out flawlessly! Thanks a lot!
Love the plaque decorating the wall behind you. I am getting better with each hair cut I do. I am going over to You to Me and get the in depth guidance I think I am ready for another step up. From Colorado
So nice and simple, you have saved alot of bucks for me bro, i have been doing it for my 5 kids my self since long...i enjoy doing it . Just wana thank you.
This cut is great for a tutorial. I'm mesmerized but I don't have the skill set or patience to tackle this one. I do home cuts and lots of men in my small community still come to me. I'm not licensed and I prefer clippers but blending is more exact with scissors. You're a great teacher. I'm Michael from Tennessee.

Hello Michael from Battle Creek, Michigan, USA. You mentioned Vidal Sassoon and cross checking when working on the back of Callum's head. Did he use scissor-over-comb, and if not, how would he have cross-checked the vertical sections? Would he have just done horizontal sections with comb and hand like the vertical ones?
That is a brilliant question and something I've never thought of before, from memory, I don't think I ever saw Sassoon using scissor over comb. But you could certainly take vertical or horizontal sections or even diagonal sections in order to cross check. My advice would be that whatever direction your initial section is, then take a perpendicular section to cross check it. Sassoon was a meticulous finisher and spent a long time on his cuts weighing up the precision of his work. A true master.
any tips for proper lighting? ive been cutting hair and one of the things that bothers me is the shadow when doing fading. Planning on investing on led but idk how to setuo the position
I have a really bright shop but have worked in darker places. Ideally you want the chair near the window. But I’ve seen a lot of barbers using those ring lights on retractable arms.

I like new light hair dryers because the air is not as hot as in old hair dryers so it is actually less damaging for the hair
Thats a good point. I mostly use maximum speed, but minimum heat
Brilliant as always ❤
Thank you so much Emma😀
Nice tutorials
I’ve never done a scissor cut. Hoping to do it soon!
Well I hope the video helps
Hi does this layout and technique work with someone with a double crown ? And cow licks ?
Yes but you need to be careful not take it too short
