i’m a hairstylist that does mainly women’s cuts but i’m wanting to be a barber instead. your videos are helping me so much
Thanks Mandi. I’ve got to say you definitely know more about barbering than I do about hairdressing.
My wife just cut my hair while watching one of your videos. She did a great job for a first attempt and saved us 20 euros at the hairdressers! Thanks for uploading. 😊
My pleasure Paul 😀
Graphics and illustrations you put really helps to understand what you mean
Thank you 🙏
I'm learning a lot from these videos they are a big help!
Heloo
From Indonesia 😊
Hello welcome 🙏
Love this method, much better than most methods I've seen. Thank you lots 😊
You're very welcome!
Simple, methodical and clearly explained. Fantastic tutorial, thank you for sharing 👏🏻
I’ve been cutting my son’s hair for years. It’s a challenge because he has straight, fine hair, but a lot of it. This video has been super helpful. Going to try this technique today. His hair grows sideways then joins into a ridge at the back of his head at neckline. A video on strange growth patterns would be very helpful!
How did it go?
@@theoneminutebarber We had to delay until next weekend. That’s ok I can watch this video a few more times! I’ll let you know.
@@theoneminutebarber I like how the hair turned out, especially on the top/front and sides. It looked a little choppy in the back. It will take awhile to get used to scissor over comb. But I’ll use it again next time.
@@theoneminutebarber I like how the top/front and sides turned out but the back was a bit choppy. It will take a bit to get used to scissor over comb. But I like the technique. He has a hard hair growth pattern of hair in the back to work with.
These videos are great. Thanks
You're very welcome!

Мені подобається твій стиль, він простий і водночас ефективний 👍🏼😎
Thank you 🙏
I'm a Jamaican Barber, and you teach me a lot thank for this 👀👂👍👊🤔
Happy to help
I absolutely love your videos scissor cutting isn’t my strong point so it really helps great job buddy 👍🏻🙌🏻
Glad to help. How long have you been cutting hair.
@@theoneminutebarber lol don’t Judge properly 2years self taught but most cuts that come to me are fades
I’d never judge, I think the hardest thing is getting a good range of variety, ultimately you become a product of your environment, so if you ever get the chance to cut anything different you should grab it and build up as much diversity in your toolbox as you can.
Another great haircut from the top gadgie.
😉😂gadgie. No one knows I’m a born Gadgie, how would you know that 😂
Thank you sir for explaining step by step scissors cut
You are welcome
I am happy to see this video
Detailed work ✔️
How much charge haircut?
For this I charge £28 ($36)
I ❤ both haircuts, but the second one is beautiful texture as you demonstrated cutting off the dust really made a difference.
Thank you Mare
Comb link please
Jason Makki. He is really good. Also The Regal Gentleman
I follow both of them although only recently discovered Jason Makki, so have tons of his videos to watch through
Perfect teacher ❤
I feel like starting in the back and moving out to the sides is better than starting on one side and going to the back then to the other side. I think started in the back would make the two sides more similar in length. What do you think?
Both methods work well, you probably would notice it’s easier to follow the guide from the back.
@@theoneminutebarber thanks for your input. Love your videos!
most of the people i cut have very thick, dense hair and I cant get this method to work like you do any tips?
Yes. Make sure your sections are very thin, and that the hair is very wet. Those are the two main things. After that it’s just a case of the length you decide
@@theoneminutebarber alright ill try next time i love this method but its difficult for the people i cut thank you
Expectacular
Many thanks!
Good video. Nice to see proper techniques. Most Barbers these days use female cutting techniques on men's hair especially in the UK since the nvq..I was taught a totally different way, similar to yours years before nvq existed . How about a full hair wash and cut and finish video? Do you check for moles and scabs before sliding scissors along the scalp?
The full wash and cut is now an impossibility for me as I sold the backwash unit a few weeks ago. I used it twice in five years. I normally always check for moles etc when combing at the start.
I didn’t have much time to watch this before, so I scrubbed from beginning to end. I was left thinking that you took a few centimetres and 30 years off your client - with a sneaky off-camera colour job as well 😅
I now know better!
😂 you must have thought I’d been dabbling in a bit of plastic surgery
I'm a baby barber, I have been working at my first shop for a week now and your videos really help. Plus the accent is killer. Thank you from Austin, Texas.
Thank you Andrea ☺️
Why do I think that an in shop visit will be on the agenda if I ever make it across the pond? As I've #'s times, your eye is trained to see the cut hair while mine isn't quite there yet. But I'm getting there! BTW, did your friend (CMC) ever announce who the winner of his little contest was?
That's a good point I'm not sure I'll have to ask him. Bruce You'd be most welcome in the shop if you ever come over to the UK.
Barbería real la que pone el pan en la mesa ✌️💯✂️💯✂️💈💈💈💈👍👍
you have to watch regal gentleman!
I am subscribed and do enjoy their content.
Looks great! I love your videos. I’m just starting out my hair career and they are so helpful! They are filled with information and you explain things so well! Thank you so much 🙏🏼
You are so welcome! If you look through my videos you will find a lot of useful nuggets
Hi, am Emmanuel in Zambia, Africa. Am enjoying your videos. Am a barber and am learning a lot from your videos.

Thanks man. Your videos have helped me with scissor work so much. You're definitely appreciated👍
Thanks Makiel for being a great model. Blessings to the UK. Beautiful cut. I like what the razor did.
I was really fortunate to be cutting his hair, he is a talented barber himself. I’ve linked his instagram in the description
I'm 6 weeks into barber school and I really enjoy these videos. Your method seems easier for me than what I've been taught so far
I hope it compliments your learning.
You are extremely talented
Thank you ☺️
Do you cut your own hair?
Yes I do my own.
❤❤❤❤❤❤
I'm in cosmetology school and this is so helpful. Thank you.
You're so welcome!
Great channel, and great explanations.
But I really don't like this "natural" look.
I like haircuts that are neat and precise.
These haircuts are pointless for me, even when recognizing great skill needed to achieve them.
I would refuse to pay for such a haircut.
Clipper, shorter haircuts over these any time.
Noted
This was so easy to follow! Be great if you could do one for frontal thinning hair with temple loss.
thank you, this is a common request but I find it hard to get a model who is happy to have their hairloss discussed on camera. Hopefully at some point
@@theoneminutebarber that’s understandable as I know what an impact it has on some. I find it difficult to cut without losing too much cover on the thin patches.
Does the angle of the comb change as you work down doing scissor over comb ? Like is it getting closer to the head and shifting angle slightly?
It can do if you want to taper in closer to
Thanks
What about when you have to allow for beginning bald spots?
Just cut it the same.
讲解太棒了🎉🎉
Best barber in Scotland !
There many a lot better than me, but I’ll definitely take that compliment happily thank you 😁
I can’t tell you how many folks wanted haircuts the day before or of their wedding 😂
I know. It always looks too fresh for me.
Can you teach cross graduation? Please
I don’t tend to use the technical term cross graduation, but the way I understand it is that it’s a build up of weight across the sides. From back to front or vice versa?
To some extent I will do that in many cuts. Have you seen my recent 2 block video, that would be a cross graduation to the extreme.
This is super helpful!
Thank you 🙏
Amazing tecnic
Thank you 🙏
Very nice
Thanks
Unreal ❤
Thank Emma 🙏
Amazing!
Can you explain something I'm getting lost with... What is the difference between doing scissors over comb from below and from the top?
If you work from the top down the long hair from the top gets cut first. If you work from the bottom up then you are working up into more hair as it hasn’t been cut yet and hangs over your section
@@theoneminutebarber what if the guy has short hair?
I'm trying to understand that, for example, there are barbers that cut from the bottom up (mainly short hair)
Thanks for the answers 👍
When it comes to short hair I will cut scissor over comb from bottom to top. The key advantage of working top down is in managing long hair. Otherwise going working up the way is perfectly fine. I will try to explain that more in future video.
Great video, really appreciate seeing the approach to a "normal cut" without the use of clippers. Really enjoying watching your content from NZ
Thanks Ryan
