There is a lot of great bootleg audio of this Dec 6th 2008 show but the best video of him doing this live is on the channel of stevebarraza: • John Mayer "Your Body ... The video is entitled "John Mayer "Your Body Is A Wonderland" and makes no mention of Neon but over 3/5ths of the track is Neon. Th esound is not great but it does the job. I used the best audio track I could find and used this video to double check fretting and stuff.

Amazing lesson as always. Pretty cool those parts around 7:10 remind me of those famous message in a bottle chords spreading across fifths. Too lazy to think about if that's what he's doing but it definitely sounds like it!

hey Zartimus, really great video, like all of the ones on your channel. As a beginner I'm really struggling with Neon. Would you recommend a tutorial on your channel that is for an easier song? I don't really mind which song. Or, would you say that if I want to become a good guitar player, the best practice would to learn something really tough like this straight away? That seems counter-intuitive to me, but I'm sure you have more insight on this.

do you think you'd be able to maybe learn the neon version of 2015 at the hotel cafe?? man, cause that version really rocks! he really steps it up to a whole nother level from what we had been listening to up until that point. plus the whole intro part before the actual song is just unbelievable,
i mean besides the technique, just the great feeling of it its so catchy and cool, and he creates this amazing atmosphere when playing it.
so if you ever have time, itd be so awesome iif you made the tutorial for that version

Zartimus the soloing is brilliant! Could have been a continuum or trio track! I'm actually going back to learning neon right now! The where the light is version. I hate that stretch before the prechorus that he does on the 6fret during the appregio. I'm just going to play easier versions of some of those appreggios
Have a lot of John Mayer related comments to say but I'lltrt to keep it to a minimum lol. He played a new song called i guess I just feel like last night! You could probably figure out the song in less than 30 minutes. There's a popular John Mayer Facebook group called John Mayer knows best people in the group like your videos a lot. Working on neon where the light is version again!

I wish you could teach more slower and detailed for beginners
I’m more for intermediate players and the level,of detail, at least in the tabs is high. I don’t often say things like “start this on an upstroke”, etc. Because Mayer’s playing is not locked into that like Yngwie or EJ’s etc. I try to play at least half speed on the loops. Try back after some more listening and playing. It may be more agreeable. I’m assuming experience with pentatonics and moderate skill with 2 note per string soloing.
