@MrAlans123 That's how you do a proper interview no matter who the guest is. The guest is on because he/she has something to offer. Pretty pointless if the guest has to compete with the interviewer for the attention of the viewer..

NOT everyone can garner and appreciate the emotion of music. the combination of each instrument land its inflection on the music at hand... and then the synergy when a group gets it right... I appreciate watching Ricks emotions when he hears tones and combinations that evoke emotion without pretense.. amazing Man.. Appreciate his work..

Dominic doesn't know this, but its because of his passionate and tasteful playing that I became a musician. I was growing up in a musician's home so I was destined to pick up an instrument or two, but wasn't moved by the stuff my parents were playing, so I didn't start playing until age 6. At 6 years old, my dad recorded a crummy VHS live recording of ten summoners tales, where sting wore this unforgettable fluorescent gold silk shirt. And off to his left was Dominic and his luxuriant but simple playing coming through on Fields of Gold. It made an everlasting impression on me, a spark of effemeral musical life that Dominic infected me with, and I couldn't be more thankful for it. Thank you to both Sting and Dominic for your fatherly sort of examples in all things music.

The "All by myself" Eric Carmen piece was really composed by Sergei Rachmaninoff and is the theme of his second Piano Concerto middle movement. In fact, all 3 of those movements were made into popular song melodies. That's how great that Piano Concerto is. Certainly one of the most beautiful ever written. Check it out.

I love songs arranged for one guitar and I don’t / can’t sing, so playing the singing melody with the instrument is very appealing. They’re both right about how music is listened to these days, I’m guilty too. I stream on an iPhone to a Bluetooth speaker, plugged into my truck’s stereo, or sort of recline, close my eyes, and lay the phone on my chest in “landscape” orientation to listen in stereo. I listened to some Tommy Emmanuel last night this way. Well done interview, thank you!

This is the difficulty that I struggle with when watching Rick's videos. I've been watching since the early months of the channel. I've grown more, as a musician in these years than I did in the previous 30, however... The shift from the early composing and theory videos to full on historian has been so humbling and wonderful. It's joyous to hear these stories, to see the documentation that is being preserved through these conversations. Interviewing doesn't cover the scope, because an interviewer is often reciting questions without the depth of knowledge that only a peer can provide. As @MrAlans123 said, listening is key, but I think Rick's knowledge is what elevates these videos to something else. These conversations NEED to be recorded for future generations, not because of the individual, but because the individual is able to say what they need to say, as a Musician. That insight is not lost on me, and I know it's not lost on most viewers of this channel. Dominic was a tremendous guest here and was able to speak clearly in a manner that will benefit everyone who watches this. His creative skill is clearly evident, but sussing out the origins, from traveling from South America to Wisconsin to England, showcases how those influences gave him a language that he has been able to share with the world. Bravo Rick and bravo Dominic. Thank you sharing this with us.

Really beautiful song. Great interview. As always, you know when to speak and when to listen, and you ask the right questions.

Rick, this is one of my favorite of your interviews. I really enjoyed the music, the conversation and the vast information you two gave us. Mr. Miller was such a gracious guest. Thank you and blessings.

I would love an entire album of these pared-down, gorgeous versions of interesting songs. In fact, I long for it!

I think a lot of people don’t appreciate just how masterful his playing is. He makes simple riffs sound with so much depth. Just listen to his dynamic range and how he projects the melody over the accompanimental voices. It’s a lot harder to play like that than many realize.

What a lovely humble man,,, so impressed with his informative way of getting a point across. His nylon strings and intervals between notes are priceless. Than you so much Rick for not interupting him.. ❤

@@voice_of_reason5604 well.. the fact that it's been sampled in different genres probably gives it very good reach into wider audiences than something that's known only in its original song. so it might not be as outrageous as it first sounds.

I have little music education but it was still quite enjoyable to listen in on this conversation and to hear Dominic’s playing and insights. So rare, real conversation. Great job, Rick.
