The power armor should have been designed with an ammo pack on the back and a belt of bullets being fed into the gun from the pack. If the armor was made to carry heavy weapons it should have practical attachments for the armor.

PA should have been restricted way more and there should be a few weapons exclusively designed for PA. In F4 especially, it was just wrong that you could weild small arms with your gauntletted hand.

    • @DJWeapon8
      @DJWeapon8 Рік тому +14

      @@vavra222 this.
Some weapons should be simply too small to be used in PA. IE pistols.
You want a sidearm when in Power Armor?
Punch them. A power armor's speeding fist should deal similar damage to a point blank shotgun blast.
Weapons useable in PA should be weapons that are normally placed in defensive positions or on vehicles like heavy machineguns, miniguns, and light artillery. Basically anything that is heavy and powerful enough to kill buildings.
That said. These weapons should also be useable without power armor. As long you have a Strength of 9 or greater.

    • @DJWeapon8

I'd rather the minigun be modeled with the backpack and belt rather than power armor.
That way, carrying the minigun without PA youd still see where the ammo is coming from.
As for reloads. I have two takes.
      1) miniguns have no reload. You fire it as long as you have its ammo in your inventory.
      2) miniguns would use 2 ammo types. 5mm for projectiles, microfusion cells to power the motor. The reload is actually replacing the MFC every 500 rounds.

    1. The barrels are big blocky squares, cause squares are futuristic I guess. (it looks like the barrel itself would weigh around 12 lbs.)
    2. The actual holes bored into the barrel are square but round shots are still loaded, allowing gas to escape.
    3. When reloading the rounds are still unfired like they haven't been shot, it's really easy to notice this since

As is being said with various commentators, the 10mm attachment is a laser module and that specific bulk is explained by the lore side of electronics. Micro resistors and 1950's retro design makes typically compact electronic modules inherently bulky. The little gas canister below could be a shielded vacuum tube or other fuse types, perhaps intended for easy replacement.

Funny thing about the M3A1 models is they removed the charging handle and in order to prime the weapon you stick your finger in the ejection port into a recess in the bolt then pull the bolt back with your finger. Also the dust cover serves as the weapons safety as well since when its closed the bolt cant slam forward.

      - hand-holding (Todd treating you like a stupid, spoiled kid, you get an award for breathing)
      - the entire gameworld sucking player off for literally anything (Skyrim - as in anything you do, the game tries to make you feel good via NPC commentary etc.)
      - never could truly be bad- more like a misbehaving kid forced to do the good shit by parents
I dont wanna start ranting but these are my biggest issues, too bad Bethesda will never change, they will never make a game that truly punishes you for making mistakes, its always just instant gratification and a sea of loot.

@@vavra222 gonna be real, I found almost all the writing in Fallout 4 to just be awful. The entire game is bland, maybe not so much bad. But I stood in line for 3 hours at midnight release and realized 40 minutes into playing it I made a mistake, and since I bought the hard cover strategy guide with the game, I felt like I needed to get something back for my investment. So I did what all sane people do and dumped 2500 hours into it to make myself like it, and all I did was find more reasons to hate it. Sure, I do like modding it (only way its playable).
Most faction quests are not good. I love the Brotherhood, but I hate Maxson. I guess it's cool he's the kid from Fallout 3, but I'm not sure what is supposed to make us care. Being in a new, hostile land and trying to have your best soldier killed because he's not human is really fucking stupid. Danse is more Brotherhood than the rest of them.
Cait and Nick are phenomenally well written and acted companions. As is Dogmeat. Curie feels like a naive little sister, I do not like her. Piper was the cringe of last decade, in fact, on xbox there were mods that muted her and instantly completed dialogue with her.
The railroad is a bunch of nut jobs who would try to liberate a toaster. Deacon (another good companion) talks about how he is a synth, turns out it's a lie, but it seems like Desdemona to brainwash organic humans into believing they are synths that she rescued, just so she can feel some validation in her miserable existence.
We all know about the minutemen.
And the institute, doing far more harm to the wasteland than any amount of good since the bombs fell, trying to replace humanity with machines. I'm sure this is supposed to be a commentary on the real world, but fuck me if it isn't entirely out of place and not well managed.
And then the common wealth itself. I hate it. I don't think it's a good setting for any kind of rpg, let alone post apocalyptic. Even people that live there in real life think it's an awful setting.
And the main story line is so low effort. People are worried about starfield purely out of performance, but none of the shit that made Fallout 4 not good. Starfield is about philosophy (I don't think Bethesda has the writers for that), and who knows how clown school and cartoonish that will be.

The lefty bolt-action is somewhat of a recurring classic in first-person shooters and ironically, it has to do with the characters portrayal as right-handed.
Because they're right-handed, the gun is displayed on the right side on the screen relative to the players point if view. This means that typically you only see the left side and the cover of the gun. Well, game developers have a tendency of preferring pretty animations over realism and therefore they put the bolt-action where the player can actually see it, that is to say, on the left side.

The long and the short of it is that an American arms seller decided he'd try and loophole machine gun laws about how many bullets are fired per trigger pull by simply removing the entire trigger mechanism from a STEN. So, effectively, you have a STEN gun that you yank the handle back and it simply runs away until the magazine runs empty.

Fallout 4 is not a 'good' game. It has a tremendous number of flaws, it's incredibly glitchy, the roleplay elements have been severely deadened, and the design is just lacking in general.
However; despite all of that, I still enjoyed playing the game. I enjoyed wandering around and exploring. I liked making settlements and building a cool custom home base. I particularly liked that the various junk and scrap actually had a damn purpose finally. Most importantly for me, I loved the weapon customization system. This is definitely more of a personal preference thing, but I absolutely go nuts for weapon building/customization.
Even though Fallout 4's weapon building isn't the most robust ever, and it's a little silly sometimes, being able to build weapons and use them is one of my favorite things.
It's kind of like buffalo chicken; even really bad buffalo chicken is still pretty good.
All of the problems with Fallout 4 didn't stop me from putting a solid 250 hours into the game. It's unlikely I'm going to play it again, but I enjoyed the time I got out of it.
    Monologue over.
Also: A followup for the rest of this video would be cool. I'm particularly interested to see your reaction to the fat ugly bastard that is Fallout 4's "Assault Rifle."

I also really liked what they did with the power armor because it didn’t just feel like a suit of armor, it was an actual power suit and you could outfit that thing like a car. It was the first decent looking Bethesda Fallout game, the others looked horrible but they were more fun overall. A lot of the core ideas were good but they just flubbed hard on the execution

@@clonescope2433 You're actually correct. The "assault rifle" was apparently originally supposed to be a proper machine gun, like it looks like it should be. The suppressor attachment for it has ".50 Caliber" printed on it. So it _was_ going to be an LMG of some sort, but it got clumsily reworked into a rifle, because Bethesda development.
The only thing I can think of (other than sheer Bethesda-brand laziness) is that because of the minigun existing, they decided it was redundant to have two machine guns designed for power armor, so they scrapped the LMG idea and reused the assets.

In Fallout 1, 5mm was used for the minigun and the assault rifle, which was some kind of alternate universe AK variant. .223 was also in the game, but was in a hunting rifle, a sniper rifle that was rechambered from .308 because .223 was more common, and the gun from Blade Runner (canonically in Fallout a revolver rifle cut down into a pistol). I *think* what they were going for was that 5mm was a military round while .223/5.56 was a civilian round.
In Fallout 3, .223 was replaced with 5.56mm. 5mm was used for the minigun while 5.56mm was used for the American and Chinese assault rifles. I think for this the logic was purely gameplay mechanics, the game can give you ammo for one without having to give you ammo for the other.
In New Vegas, 5.56mm was in multiple weapons, including the LMG, the NCR's service rifle, and the "marksman carbine". 5mm was used for the minigun, but it was also used in the "assault carbine". Both the marksman carbine and assault carbine are pre-war US military weapons, both are AR variants, and both were canonically used by paratroopers pre-war. 5mm was also a lower damage round than 5.56mm but in exchange was lighter weight per cartridge and innately armor piercing.
I don't think there's a real answer to why both exist and what they're each for. It's just sort of a legacy weirdness of the series.

The 10mm pistol should've reused the same aesthetics as the one in Fallout 3 and New Vegas. But its still too big and blocky for me as a 10mm.
If they lowered the slide's top to where it _just_ meets the hammer, pull back the barrel about 2 inches to the flat slats on the side to shorten it, get rid of whatever nonsense is in front of the trigger guard, and halve the thickness, it would be perfect.
Hell. From what I can imagine, it looks like a hammer fired, metal Glock.
Pipe weapons would only work en masse in Fallout if the setting is very early after the Great War.
Having it be set 200+ years into the post apocalypse and the previous games having shown civilization to have recovered sufficiently enough to the point that *new weapon designs are being manufactured on a scale large enough to support a small country* makes the prevalence of pipe weapons illogical.
If you really want pipe weapons in a late post apocalypse Fallout game, have them be early game weapons that are shoddily made, low durabilty, low accuracy, better than nothing peashooters.
Small caliber double barrel holdout pieces.
Single shot slamfire shotguns using small gauge shells.
    Rudimentary pistol caliber revolvers.
And Sten Gun style SMGs being the most powerful pipe gun type.
The minigun should be slightly smaller but overpowered AF. As well as having a backpack to store its ammo and an enclosed flexible belt housing to feed ammo into the weapon.
Its also the only weapon to make use of two ammo types simultaneously. 5x60mm and microfusion cells (the ammo used by laser weapons). The MFCs being used as a battery to power the minigun motor and is actually the part that's being replaced when reloading. As for the actual ammo, as long as you have 5x60mm in your inventory, it'll feed the weapon. The logic being that its already stored into the backpack.
Retconning the 5mm ammo it uses into 5x60mm as being designed to wreak havoc on engine blocks and vehicles by having armor piercing capabilities and through sheer volume of fire. Which in lore, made it ideal for the kind of combat Power Armor was fielded for. As mobile, man-sized, frontline weapons platforms regularly used against enemy tanks, APCs, and machinegun nests.
The minigun should've also been a weapon only useable with a Strength of 9 or greater (which is granted by piloting Power Armor) due to how heavy it is.
You can still use it without meeting the STR requirement, but good luck being able to walk or hit a building with it consistently.
Lastly, heavy weapons like miniguns should be a placeable object in settlements as fixed weapons useable by both the player and settlers. Needing only the weapon in question, a few steel, and some screws to build it. To fill it with ammo, look at the base and press the interact button and transfer the ammo to the weapon.
The combat rifle in 4 shouldn't exist.
    Just reuse 3's R91 assault rifle (a fictionalized G3 & FAL mishmash).

Pipe revolvers are using .45 ammo in-game, which is the same as the submachine gun, also known as the Tommy-gun knock-off. Decide for yourself if that is good or bad, as I am not an expert on guns.
The minigun can be quite strong with the right perks and possible legendary effects. Explosive or incendiary rounds, for example, are possible legendary effects. Portable miniguns without Power Armor is stupid, though.
