The older I get the more I understand the talent George Michael was. Fantastic.
George Michael was one of the absolute best voices in the 20th century. Hard to believe he has been gone 5 years now.
On Christmas, no less.
💙💙💙💙
💯🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
This is Elton Johns song
I miss him. Beautiful voice and a beautiful soul 💜
I always stuggle with my emotions when I hear this song. The magnitude of the loss of George hits me every time.
I totally get you
I still cry at the thought
This is def an Elton John song. But this was a George Michael concert and he brought Elton in to blow everybody's mind. It worked, don't you think? Beautiful
Elton said this was the true test of his mettle after getting sober to sing this song with George. It is Elton's song originally, but he was terrified that he wasn't even going to have a piano to hide behind in this performance. He said that he was stoked when the crowd went crazy when George introduced him (as if he would need an intro anyway) But the live performance sounded so good that they decided to release it as a single which shot to #2 on the billboard hot 100. I am sure this being his first performance, Elton was happy to have George take on most of the vocals but he had nothing to worry about as we see here. Miss my George. Nobody like him now.
Thank you for sharing that with us, because when I saw Elton smile when he first came out, it did seem like such a moment for him!!!
@@sandyleewhite It definitely was a big moment for Elton and generous of George to do this for his friend. I think George donated all of his royalties of this single to charity if I remember correctly. But he did that with a number of his big singles. Can you imagine how much money just this single brought in. But that was our George.
@@teensymom1420 Yes it was 💞💞💞
Eltons voice changed dramatically since his early years, honestly think George's voice was betterment for this songs at this time...George such a great singer on the highest level
It still feels like those days hearing this. Awesome time in America.
Asias face says it all. George was one of the best voices of all time.
George is a master at covering songs his friends have done. He sang Queens "Somebody to love " at the Freddie Mercury tribute concert. Knocked it out of the park
Yes! That was an INCREDIBLE performance, just epic!!
Definitely. Well worth a listen in its own right.
The highlight of the night
Probably the best next to the original version! George killed it a the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert! 👌🔥♥️😊
The only one who didn't murder a queen song that day, the only one who had the range and power to do a queen song justice
Imagine going to a George Michael concert - and then freaking Elton John shows up as well. It's almost too much awesomeness to handle.
I was in the audience at this concert. It was epic from beginning to end.
“Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me” is a song written by Elton John and his lyricist Bernie Taupin. The song was originally recorded in 1974 by Elton John for his studio album, Caribou.
Elton's song! They were close friends, and Elton was a huge inspiration to George growing up. One of the great duets ever. *PLEASE* do Elton John's "Funeral for a Friend / Love Lies Bleeding." It is extraordinary!
I think thats why it was such an amazing performance....two very talented people start feeding into each other, trying to go higher and higher
One of the greatest live performances...... !!!!
i have the CD of ELTON'S it's called GOOD BYE YELLOW Brick road and the first track is FUNERAL For A FRIEND and LOVE Lies BLEEDING
KENN if you can find an ELTON John CD it's called Good BYE YELLOW BRICK ROAD and the FIRST TRACK is FUNERAL For A FRIEND and LOVE Lies BLEEDING and it's a great CD
@@rodhanson7112 Yes, I have had that LP and CD for the last 50 years, which is why I recommemded it.
George Michael could touch the soul with his voice.
❤😥
George Michael live is better than any recording he ever made. What an exceptional voice.
Yes, this is Elton's song, but even though I love his original, this version moves me even more. Such a phenomenal performance. We all miss George so much! Gone too soon!
Don't forget about Bernie Taupin
If you haven’t reacted to George Michael and Aretha Franklin’s “I knew you were waiting” you should. Such a solid song 💕
GREAT suggestion!!! LOVE that song/video!!! They're amazing!!
Yes!! 💯💯
Loved Aretha’s n George’s duet which won the Grammy, but my fav will always be “As” with Mary J. Blige. George collaborated with so many great ones. Ray Charles “Blame it on the sun” the best.
Great suggestions!🥰🔥❤
An excellent collaboration! Love this song!! ♥️♥️♥️😊
Definitely Elton John’s song. And even though George Michael was at the height of his vocal power and Elton John had already lost his best fastball by that time, you can see George defer to Elton. Seems like he had a bunch of respect for Elton and was so happy to be singing with him. Great version of this song.
I saw Elton in concert 3 years ago, and he was spectacular! He played for almost 3 hrs and the only break he took was to walk to the front of the stage to autograph everything the crowd gave to him. He didn’t miss a beat or a note. He hasn’t lost anything! I was amazed at how good he was.
George idolized Elton when he was a teenager and meeting him was George's dream come true -- but they became extremely close friends until the end of George's life.
This is a Song by Elton and George sang it during his concert as a surprise. The audience had no idea that Elton would appear to sing the second half. What an awesome surprise they all had. Sleep peacefully, George.
George Michael's voice was perfect.
Yes. And it STILL is. ✌
This is a wonderful collaboration.
But we should never forget the writer of the lyrics is Bernie Taupin. He is brilliant.
1000% agree Bernie Taupin has written a lot of Eltons greatest songs and is a music genius with words. Elton said Bernie would write all the words to the songs and send them to him to make the music to them and that's how they did it every time and it just worked like they were in the room writing the songs together.
Bernie wrote all of his songs actually. at first they worked together by sending each other letters. Bernie will write it in the paper, send it to Elton's place and Elton will write the composition. eventually they started living together because it's much more effective to work that way
Yep...Bernie wrote the lyrics and Elton did the music....Bernie is extremely talented and gets sometimes pushed to the side, but without him Elton wouldn't have the hits he had
Unlike George Michael who fully wrote the majority of his songs ever since he started with Wham, There was only a few he co-wrote with his Wham partner. Man was a truly a gifted singer songwriter and producer 100%!
61 years old now and still get chills every time I hear this song
When Elton comes on stage, you know who was the man.The two of them were too powerful for one stage.
I’m 34, my sister is 48. When we’re drinking hanging out she’ll play her 80’s list, it’s all upbeat and then this song comes up and she’ll stand up and sway to this song and even says the part, “mr Elton John!” She loves this song! I love it too now!
My sister was 13 years older than me and she died of Motor Neurone Disease at 54 in 2000. Treasure your family while you have them.
@@lewisner my brother died in 2007 aged 42. He collapsed and died after an undiagnosed clot in his leg went to his lung. My dad had died two years previously and the shock for my mum triggered Alzheimer’s, of which she died from. I have no other family apart from my children and my daughter has serious heart problems which will mean she has to have open heart surgery. I went from having a childhood family to none. When you want to say ‘remember when’ nobody is there.

One of the best duets in pop history! R.I.P. George Michael - now it’s 5 years and 4 days that he passed away much too early. I am still so sorry and thankful that people like you keep him and his music alive in a younger generation… with your great reactions
The idea that this is a live performance is mind blowing
The reaction from the crowd when he calls out Elton John always gives me chills. Elton is one of my all time favorite singers.
I love this video mainly because it signaled the return of Elton John as he had not made any public appearances for over a year to concentrate on his sobriety after going to rehab after years and years of substance abuse. It was amazing how much more healthy he looked after losing weight and not being as pale looking. It was also so different seeing him in just a jacket and baseball cap instead of one of his flamboyant outfits he was known for.
I MISS GEORGE SO MUCH. HE IS MY FAVOURITE ARTIST, EVER. IT WAS 5 YEARS AGO WE LOST HIM ON CHRISTMAS. I HOPE HE'S UP THERE MAKING BEAUTIFUL MUSIC WITH ALL HIS FRIENDS. AND, I DEEPLY HOPE HE IS RESTING IN PEACE🙏🏼
Elton and George go good together. They both have those powerful, soulful voices. George doesn’t get credit for being so huge. He owned the late eighties. It’s a shame he got chewed up and spit out. All his songs were strong and unique while still being mainstream and palatable to the masses.
Asia had hearts in her eyes the entire time!!! I’m dying!!!❤️
She was stuck
Georges voice is like velvet to me i could listen to him all day
Incredible harmony between the two artists, lyrics, rhythm, harmony, melody, body expression and in the end rose petals and standing ovation for a true perfect work of art in an unforgettable night for the public..
One of the best duets ever. He's gone too soon, such talent, amazing voice!! Asia you're correct, Elton John released that song in the 70's, but this was taken to a new level with George singing
My Favorite Elton song! Ever!! Then add the the gorgeous talented Mr. Michael...what magic!!🔥
If I listen to this song every day, I think my life will be better 🙌
Asia is correct, this is an Elton song. It was originally recorded in 1974 by Elton John for his studio album Caribou and was released as a single that peaked at number two on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, {Had this in my 45 collection when it first came out.......one of my personal top 5 songs of all time..........so glad you reacted to this!}
⬆ This.
It reached number 16 in the U.K. and only managed number 1 in one country. The version with George reached number 1 in 15 countries.
One of the most iconic duos of all time. This performance was absolutely magical!
George takes over the stage with Elton in this little rendition-I think!!
One of Elton John’s greatest songs . From his 1974 album Caribou. Number 2 song of the year. Was stuck behind John Denver’s “Annie’s Song” at no. 2 for a month. At Live Aid, George Michael came out and sang the song while with the EJ band. Fantastic song that was brought to a whole new generation by GM. An iconic song.
They made me cry when they did this together🤎 such emotion in this song 😢
This was a heaven on earth moment for me. My two fave singers singing one of the most timeless songs of all time. Heaven.
If you had told us then that one of these 2 guys would not be with us in 2021, I think we would have guessed it would be Elton who passed.
This was an Elton John song from the 70's.
George was awesome. He had his problems but he was an amazing singer. RIP George.
This gives me so nostalgic vibe. I would love to return to the '90s.
I LOVE them both. Been a huge Elton John fan since he came to the States. Both voices gave me chills, George's voice sounded so Pure & Clear. Elton's more bluesy. Angelic voices. I think this is the best "Live in Concert" duet in history. (Yes, I said it.... in history!)
It is, hands down. 🤗 Can't believe it only made it to #2.
It’s Elton’s original song !!
Lyrics by Bernie Taupin, a GOAT songwriter with a GOAT performer/musician!!
My favorite male singer George . God has given us tremendous talents. Elton John and Bernie Taupin. What an amazing due in song writing and music. I've been listening to Elton for 51 years...
Jesus To A Child is another banger by George Michael. "As" is another great collaboration song by George Michael and Mary J. Blige!
I think it's one of his most personal songs, it was absolutely heartbreaking when I learned about the meaning of song
💔😥
One of the best collaborations in music history 💕💕💕 ***RIP George Micheal, your voice lives for an eternity, in your music***
🥰🔥💖😭
Yes !!!!!!!!! Epic is the word, 2 of the best voices on the planet, live, together...doesn't get better than this!!.I have seen Elton, 3 times in concert and remember them like it was yesterday!! This is an Elton original but George Michael sings it like it is his own! Fabulous!!
This is an Elton song that show cased the beauty of George Michaels' voice
OK, imagine: you're attending a George Michael concert. He breaks into this song, a classic Elton John song. Then, out of nowhere..."ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Elton John!"
That's what this was. An amazing surprise duet for the audience.
Oh wow! Didn't know that.
Iconic duet iconic song iconic voices George Michael just dammmmmn
George was just ridiculously talented - and by far one of the greatest performers and singers of our generation. Please, please, please do George's cover of Somebody to Love from the Freddie Mercury tribute concert at Wembley Stadium. 72,00 fans singing and clapping in unison - is just an EPIC concert to watch. Also his song and video for One More Try is just beautiful. And Praying for Time is a MUST listen. Thank you and Merry Christmas from Canada :)
Very sad that George Michael is gone. I am jealous of everybody in the crowd who got to see such an event, what a happening for sure! Great reaction guys as always, TY.
The arrangement for this is spectacular and super polished. Is one of those instances, where the live performance is just as good, or even better than the original studio recording.
I have listened to this exact performance about 15 times lately, it's so beautiful!!!
This was originally Elton's. He put this song out in the '70's. They kill this song together. It's just "wow"!
It reached number 16 in the U.K. with just Elton and only managed number 1 in one country. The version with George reached number 1 in 15 countries.
Has me in tears. RIP George Michael😢💕
RIP George
One of my favorite songs, ever! To me, Elton will allways be one of the best. I love George, but Elton was epitome o all talenput into one♥️♥️♥️♥️
Two huge musical icons together.....
George Michael was an amazing talent. I love his voice so much. This duet is 🔥🔥🔥.
This is an Elton John song from the Elton John album 1974. I was 5 years old the first time I heard it. The original is epic.
Chills, from one of the greatest singers and one of the greatest musicians of the modern era!
Elton wrote the song. It was originally a track on one of his albums from the 70s. It was only much later that he and George Michael collaborated to do a new rendition of it, but it was originally just an Elton John song.
I'm listening to music over 60 years this is one of the greatest performances ever. George in my opinion is thee greatest singer in music history. A phenomenal performance!!
I love this live version. Gorgeous voices
This is a Performance for the ages. Two extraordinary talents giving a crowd in Chicago, a night that they’ll never forget.True greatness!
As you probably already know from other comments, this is not George Michael’s song. This is Elton John’s song. However, they make one hell of a duet with this song!
Asia, you’re not the only one with freaking goose bumps!!!
💕💕💕
Love George Michael! You should check out when he sang "Somebody To Love" with Queen.
I don't know why but that performance always makes me tear up!! AMAZING ❤
2 of the greatest voices.. damn George why did you have to leave this world..😭😭
Two iconic and legendary artists who’s voices are just so unique. You know who they are, on the radio, the moment you hear their voices. George Michael passed way to soon! I love that song!
Another great duet was George Michael with Aretha Franklin 'I Knew You Were Waiting For Me'. It's GREAT. Hard to believe they are both gone.
That embrace at the end always gets to me. 😢. This is my vote for the best duet ever. George set it off in the beginning and Elton took it to another and level and then they both just took it to another universe. Epic. 👏
These babies are so young they're wondering who sang it first. If they only knew how many of their generation were conceived to SIR Elton or SIR Michael 's music.
I think it is great that they feel what we all felt listening to this great music. This is what GREAT MUSIC does. It can jump generations, age and time. This song will be relevant when we have people on Mars.
My mama was a HUGE GM fan!! She'd laugh and say "all the beautiful men are gay! But LORD just LOOK at this gorgeous man!!" 🤣🤣
She is correct! It's Elton's song. They also did it together at Live Aid and you need to see it!!
I always imagine being in the crowd, hey this is a great show, what a super cover…did he just say ELTON JOHN???
George and Elton.. Legends!
Elton has always been so kind to fellow musicians with alcohol addiction. Elton was helping George at this time with his career. Elton is a special kind of human being.
George performed 3 of Elton’s songs on this tour. This was one of them and he got Elton to come in on this one which was Elton’s first public performance after rehab. One of the other two songs was Tonight from Elton’s Blue Moves album. The other was Ticking from Caribou, the same album that Don’t let the Sun go Down on Me came from.
Girl...the 5 o'clock shadow on that man! 😍😍 George Michael was always gorgeous, especially in the Father Figure video! Please react to that one day 😁
Two of the best ever. CHILLS. R.I.P George Michael. Gone to soon
Such a musical moment is rarely witnessed nowadays. This was heavenly and soulful 💜😍😃👏
It was an Elton John song and George Michael collaborated with him on the song. Amazing performance! Thank you!!
I just realized after all these years Jonathan Moffit aka Sugarfoot played drums on this. He was MJ's drummer for most of his adult career and wrote for all of his hits.
So so true...we just couldn't get enough. George, you are sorely missed.💕
Elton was coming out of rehab, his 1st live performance and his friend George eased him back in. ❤
Early in Elton's career, he wrote the MUSIC to LYRICS delivered to him by Bernie Taupin. Another words, Bernie is synonymous with Elton and many younger gens don't know this. Later Elton would put pen to paper but still collaborates with Bernie. We 70s rockers know this because we didn't have internet, read album covers and sleeves loaded with info including song writing credits. 😁
George loved to cover great music and what a voice and he has a few great ones of his own. "Freedom" is powerful.
Missing him...🥺
Complete legends
Please react to Elton John "The One". Oh my, if you want goosebumps!!! ❤️
Great reaction guys. Thank you.
This version and video makes me cry every time, still to this day. And knowing George was in grief for many many years after his first lover died in 1993 was tough to know he was going through that even up to his death. Another great talent and soul gone too soon. His Faith tour was my first concert when I was a teenager
This has been one of my favorites Elton John's from the 70's. But when I found this version it became one of my top 5 favorite songs. George Michael's voice is so smooth!!!
Dang guys I'm sitting here watching this one and crying like a baby. I know the song but had never seen this video and I have to say it was FANTASTIC!!!! So Powerful.
Great choice from my favorite reactors, Love and hugs!!❤❤
I love both these guys and just finished watching Elton John movie 🎥🍿 perfect ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
George was so true and talented. More!!!❤️
This is an Elton Song that makes Elton John Proud for George Michael to Sing. I was Lucky Enough see/hear George Michael sing this live at the Forum in LA
George is definitely one of the best singers of all time! I love that you both love him so much too! You must watch the duet between him and Whitney Houston! "If I Told You That." It's amazing!
A great song performed by two legends- this is up there with Queen's Live Aid performance- doesn't get much better than this. Epic, indeed.
I am a huge Elton John fan, but I do love this version this song.
