George Michael could not sing a false note even if he tried. He was absolutely amazing live. Phenomenal duet.
I don't care what anybody says..disagree if you want, but that is one of if not the best collaborations ever done in the history of recorded music...R&b, soul, pop or any other genre.
Many years ago I was sitting in the VIP area at a Billy Idol gig at Wembley Arena (it's a long story) and was sitting next to George and Elton! They were two of the nicest guys I've ever met (and, yes, I've met the lovely Dave Grohl). They were great friends but they included me, just a nobody, in their conversation - they had no massive rock star egos. Despite not being a Billy idol fan, it was one of the best nights of my life. RIP George.
Fun fact: this is one of the first shows EJ did after getting sober/coming out of rehab.
And he's still around a half century later..unlike the other legends
Yes it was. Elton's voice post rehab was so strong. Love his early 90s voice more than pretty much any other time, and I love everything about him from 1970 to today.
One of Eltons' greatest songs. George Michael had one of the best voices in music, his voice "live" is better than most singers do in a studio. Both of these are also very generous men who both gave millions to charities. You should check out George singing "Somebody To Love" with Queen at the Freddie tribute concert
Great request!
It was awesome!
His voice was out of this world at this tribute concert!!!
@@alameas6358 You are so right he was the only one in that concert that came close to matching Freddies vocal range
His live voice brought me to tears!
@@cathalbutler
Very true!!! 🌈
@@rosemiller2990
His voice still brings me to tears! I can't hear "Last Christmas" to this day!
And it was one of my favorites of the Wham songs! 😥
This was also Eltons first live performance after getting clean of drogs and alcohol. George Michael wanted to show his support by asking Elton to join him on stage.
It makes the song and the performance even more special. And it's even more heartbreaking now that George is gone. Elton has lost too many friends over the years, this song must really get him whwn performing.🤗
George could really sing his ass off! He has a perfect voice! And of course Elton is a friggen legend!
George Michael was so amazing. To this day, you’ll never hear a better singer live. Guy could sing a song and made it look effortless. And Elton John wrote and sang this perfectly with George.
This is one the.most beautiful live performance of all times and yes these two men were best friends George Michaels was a great singer, song writer and one of the most magnificent souls that ever visit this planet!
George's voice rips my heart to pieces. I vividly remember the day he died. I cried all through Christmas dinner. Still doesn't seem real that he's gone. I never got to see him live, but I've seen Elton 3 times & had tickets to see him again before covid came. Still waiting for that show to be rescheduled.
Wishing everyone a peaceful day ✌️💜🌻
I was gutted too about George Michael. I grew up listening to his music, never thought he would be gone so soon, tragic how things turned for him. R.i.p. one of the greats
Prince is in a class by himself. George Michael is the True King of Pop.
If you want to hear George Michael's vocal range I would suggest SOMEBODY TO LOVE with QUEEN at the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert. Not only his performance but live with the audience in honor of Freddie is breathtaking perfection.
This my favorite Elton John song. This is the best collaboration for this song.
One of Elton and Bernies most beautiful songs
AMEN, epic classic sung by SIR ELTON JOHN, and the lyrics written by BERNNIE TAUPIN. The dynamic DUO.
@@nickfiorenza5930 Best duo in music history
I remember when this originally aired. Blew me away then and blows me away now. Very emotional.
Yes, as an GM fan since 1982 it is very emotional! 😥
George Michael and Aretha Franklin - "I Knew You Were Waiting" just as amazing
**ONE OF THE BEST COLLABORATIONS IN HISTORY** RIP George Michael, you will forever be loved & missed ❤️❤️❤️
Damn it I am not going to cry in Walgreens!😍😭 George Michael was one of the most beautiful men in music
He REALLY was, sometimes he was just breathtaking!
@@mediavideos2176 so did alot of closeted men🤷🏽♀️
@@mediavideos2176 ......and? Did his voice or talent suffer from it, has that got anything to do with the music reaction?
He was a beautiful and talented man. Had his demons. As we all do. I can only imagine what kind of isolation his kind of fame would bring. I thank him for what he gave us. May he rest in peace.
My sister had a major crush on him - of course looking back it was obvious he was gay I don't know how people didn't know!
George Michael sounds even better singing Alive than in records. I saw him Alive and i Just close my eyes, his vocal seems like an Angel
You would love George's duet with Aretha Franklin- I Knew You Were Waiting.
Great duet for sure! 👍🏻
I’ll never get over George Michael as long as I live. And on Christmas!
George had such a unique voice, his live performances were so much better than his studio recordings. If you haven't listened to his full catalog of music, please do, George always said if you want to know anything about him, all you needed to do was just listen to his music , it was all in his lyrics . George put all of himself into his music and that is why once you start listening to his music, you get hooked. Loved your reaction
Beautiful ... miss George Michael. Great reaction!!! Thanks. Should check out George and Aretha duet I KNEW YOU WERE WAITING.
I always end up in tears listening to this song, of them together. Elton has always had a huge heart for fellow musicians with addiction problems. Goes above and beyond to be supportive.
You are wrong here
Then in this tour of george michael called cover to cover tour.
Elton john was the one who had problems with drugs.
It was a tough time for him
George michael after a long and several times, finally he convinced Elton to be part of it.
And by the way it's well documented.
I've seen an old report talking about the huge success of this duets
And among the people who talked about it, was sting, and how happy he was, to see elton coming back and the support he's got from george.
George michael drugs problem came a long after that when his partner died, and then suddenly his mother got concert and died too
Then it begun the toughest period of george.he was escaping these harsh realities, 1st when he finally found a lover suddenly he was taking from him very quickly, and the song jesus to a child talking about it, then the second bad news fell, that his beloved mom got skin concert. And how elton tried to be supportive with george but he failed.
George Michael with Aretha Franklin "I Knew You Were Waiting' was another great duet.
Elton has always had an awesome voice in his younger days but clearly George Michael's voice is much better here.
George Michael and Mary J. Blige did a cover of Stevie Wonder's As that's a banger!
These are two people who can truly sing live, there’s only a limited few who can do it as well.
George Michael was an outstanding songwriter, vocalist, and human being he will be sorely missed
Amazing performance!!
If you wanna get the best of George Michael live, react to his cover of Somebody to Love at the Freddie Mercury tribute concert. George sang his SOUL out on that stage. He made the song his own, but respected Freddie's original. It's beautiful.
George also partnered with the remaining members of Queen after Freddy died and did a tribute concert for Freddy. It was also a great live performance by George.
Ooops just wrote that... guess I should have scrolled down a bit more. Best evidence of George Michael's vocal range I think.
Your reaction is beautiful. One of my favourite Elton songs from the 70s. Amazing duet that Elton didn't want released as a single due to a forthcoming album release the next year.. it went to number 1 all over the world.. Elton is hilariously quoted as saying "what do I know about music?" 😂
Damn near breath taking colab.
Brilliant performance. I absolute love George's voice. Elton is great too, obviously, but George's voice was pure honey.
Perhaps one of the best duets ever and it’s live.
Phenomenal blend of 2 voices of the great George Michael & Elton John..no one out doing the other..this was one of the best collaborations ...thank you Sunshine..loved your reaction ! George Michael was every woman's good night kiss every night
Legendary performance! This will always be an epic. I remember this, it was something like 30 years ago. RIP Legend George !
You will find yourself just needing to rehear this. Over and over!
I discovered this song today and I ended up playing it 6 or 7 times in a row. 😅
This is Elton John's song from his 1974 album caribu, it was George's idea for them to do this duet, George also sang backing tracks on Elton's song Nikita, they did another song together called wrap her up, which I love but nobody ever reacts to.
Thank the Lord for this awesome musical moment in time! Yes an iconic moment in history!
One of the best duets ever, especially 2 males.
I cry every time!!! I miss George what a voice
I have friends who were at that show...it was a huge surprise. I'm still jealous!
George Michael MTV Unplugged is 🔥☀️🔥☄🔥
Two iconic and recognizable voices. Just think what it would have been like to be there to witness this live. This song always gives me goosebumps
One of BEST collabs ...live and just 100% totally cool!
Fabulous choice of music tonight……saying 👋🏻hello👋🏻 from Scotland, United Kingdom 🏴🇬🇧
Hello Michelle 💚
Absolutely love, love, love your channel….thank you for bringing this fabulous music back to us. The look of pure joy in your face when you react is just wonderful. 🥰
Another good choice Jayy, this first became a hit for Elton John back in 1974, and then many years later George Michael started doing it in his shows.. but when they got together to do it for this video it made it a hit all over again!!! You make the best choices bright eyes, keep up the good work and I'll be looking for the next one
Lovely reaction, thanks Jayy! George Michael did some other fun duets during that time, one with Aretha Franklin that you may want to check out next “I knew you were waiting”. Great song!
These two joining together to SANG this song gave it extra meaning. I miss G.M. Thank GOD Elton's still in the building!
This was so beautiful. This is a stand alone perfect rendition of this song. Two legends with an iconic performance.
It goes without saying that these two entertainers achieved greatness in their respective careers and their collaboration in this performance was second to none. But your reaction was as rewarding to me as seeing the concert footage. Loved watching it! ❤
The Reese's to my Peanut Butter! Just been taken to church. This my favorite EJ song. Never did I think perfection could be made more perfect. Enter: George Michael. Miss him so much. 💘 and respect to you, Jayy!
One of the best duets EVER!!!!
This is one of the best performances I have ever seen in my life. Amazing talent. Great reaction!
It always makes me emotional hearing this duet and seeing them. RIP Michael
You have to listen to George tribute to freddie mercury omfg it is unreal how good he is
Have you ever seen George’s unplugged performance? That’s a wonderful, amazing performance. I think you’d love it! Much love friend! 🤘🏼
Two of the Greatest to ever do it!! Vintage Performance!
In a time when 90% of the music is just garbage, there actually was a time not so very ago when artists like George Michael and Elton John made some of the best, most heartfelt music in history. Auto-tune and lip-sync were unheard of and not needed, because real voices and instruments ruled the day...Many of today's artists might be remembered for a decade or two....George's and Elton's music will be listened to as long as there are people still around to hear it...RIP George!
A battle of the voices,and,no matter how hard i love George, 🤔I can't choose a winner 🤷♀️
Elton has said on many occasions in old interviews GM had a better voice than his.
They are both so unique. You know immediately who each one is when you hear them. I love them both but am a HUGE Elton fan and his voice here is so powerful. It really is a tie I guess.
George wrote a song for Elton that was supposed to appear on George’s album called Trojan souls. He never finished that album because he was in a dispute with Sony and he didn’t want to give them anything. He shelled that album but there’s a part of me that wishes it would’ve been released because he also had a duet with Janet Jackson on that album. We’ll never know the beautiful music that was on it but no doubt since it was his album it was beyond brilliant. George did background vocals for Elton’s hit Nikita. It would’ve been great for them to collaborate on another song together. In my opinion George’s voice is like no others. And the fact that this man could sing in any style of music and sound absolutely beautiful was such a gift. Check out his other duets. He did one with Ray Charles, Tony Bennett, Toby Burke, Aretha Franklin, Queen, Muyta Buena, and Astrid Gilberto which was sung in Portuguese.
Thanks for the info. Add Whitney Houston and Mary J Blige to the list of duets.
George is just so good live, as I am sure many others will say, his performance at Freddies tribute concert with queen singing somebody to love is just amazing. George and Freddie my absolute favourites. Freedom live at princes trust concert is another fantastic performance, as is the whole concert to be honest.....oh I miss him, gorgeous George, beautiful voice, beautiful person x
Was at the tribute concert George Michael silenced the whole crowd except when we had to sing our bit. Absolutely mesmerising singer
This always brings tears to my eyes, they sounded so beautiful together. I could have sworn you reacted to George Michael singing Somebody to Love at the Freddie Mercury tribute concert. If you didn't, you absolutely must!
My favourite version of that song too, Etc. George did a brilliant job 👍
Yes yes yes!!!!!!
I have to say that watching you react to this was by far the best part of my day. George’s voice always soothes me so that was a bonus, but your excitement and enjoyment made me smile so hard.
I don’t know if George and Elton did another collaboration, but George did do a great one with Aretha Franklin! Hope to see you check that out if you haven’t already. Have a blessed day!
They did! "Wrap Her Up", and "Nikita"
"I Knew You Were Waiting (For Me)"
George left us way too soon....I miss him so.
Thank you ❤️ for playing. Elton & George also sang the same song at Live Aid.
At Freddie Mercury’s tribute concert, George sang Somebody to Love. To me, he’s the only artist who could perform the song after Freddie. George’s voice & charisma--❤️❤️
You're right.
George michael performance in freddie mercury tribute was just unbelievable. And he estonished everyone. Then the great control and charisma he had just incredible
Would be great to react to!
@@susanthompson509 absolutely
Any way this man, when it comes to live performance, he is just perfectionist and one of the rarest that you enjoy live more than studio versions.
Princes trust concert
Mtv unplugged... Etc
Nope, George didn't let Elton in the song in Live Aid. Boy did that cause a riff! This was 6 yrs later at George's concert, after they made up
I fiddlestickingly love your reaction to this song. It is one of my best songs of all time. It is hair raising.
George Michael gone too soon! I still haven't gotten over it!
Outstanding reaction to a powerful performance by two of the best.
Their voices are GOLD !!! Pure Talent ! They don’t make ‘em like that anymore!
It is a performance based on mutual respect of equals.
Such a beautiful and powerful performance :) LOVE this version of the song. And like people are saying, you definitely need to hear George sing Somebody To Love at the Freddie Mercury Tribute concert.
If you love George, try "Somebody To Love" from the Freddie Mercury Tribute concert.
In case you haven't done
it yet.
It will blow your mind!!!
Great reaction,
thanks a lot! ❤
RIP George
always been one of my favorite moments
Loved your reaction! When I listen to Elton John singing this song alone in recent performances with George Michael’s picture in the background I cry... I cry my heart out when The performance is not interrupted by “Ladies and gentle men, Mister Elton John” and then the audience go crazy 😭to me, this is part of the lyrics and I just cannot deal with it not being there anymore more!
I seem to remember that this was George's concert and Elton came on for this number, the first time he had performed in at least a year having been off with throat issues. That's why the huge cheer for Elton when he was announced. But then, I could be wrong.
I saw Elton John in concert with his original band at The Sydney Entertainment Centre back in the early 2000’s. Best concert ever. Bloody brilliant!
"Ladies and Gentlemen..Mr Elton John!!" Huge iconic performance...RIP George 🙏
what a great song! hairs stand up on my neck every time Elton John comes in...masterpiece! and they both have amazing voices...love watching you Jayy!
Two amazing legends! This duet, in my opinion, is the best of all time. Their voices complement each other so beautifully. Their voices both have a rich tone. Sir Elton John is always going to be the best at singing his songs but this song was perfect for George Michael’s voice. I would have loved to have heard this two talented men do another duet! Growing up I listened to all kinds of music but my favorite artists are like these two men. I grew up listening to great artists like Elvis Presley, Beatles/John Lennon, Frankie Valley and The Four Seasons, Diana Ross, Kenny Rogers, Dolly Parton, Cyndi Lauper, Bruce Springsteen, Sir Elton John, and George Michael, with so many others. George Michael may have died but his music definitely will live on.
Aw...George is my baby too!.Still one of the best live duets....ever!💕
George Michael was one of the most soulful singers of our time.Sadly he died way too early.
Amazing!! Would love to see you react to MORE George Michael!!! Suggest Praying for Time, Kissing a Fool, Cowboys and Angels, Waiting for the Day, a Different Corner, Mother’s Pride, Father Figure
God bless George Micheals and Elton John
You need George Michael to take you to Church! Listen to 'Somebody to love' LIVE! THE MOST AMAZING LIVE PERFORMANCE EVER!
Iconic moment in music history, just simply Iconic, thank you dear woman for sharing this moment in music with those who never heard it ~ RIP George, left us far to soon
George took this song to somewhere it’s never been before, Perfection 💜
Absolutly agree!
It’s nice to see someone else getting so excited , awesome collab, epic.
Don't you just miss real musicians with real singers!! OMG This is EPIC.🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I would say this was George at his peak vocally the videos I ve watched of him live his voice was just so pure and powerful around 90 to 93 not to say it wasn't amazing before or after 😁😁
Check out George’s performance of “Somebody To Love” with Queen at Freddie Mercury’s tribute concert.. it’s to die for!!
We miss you George! A true musical genius.. Thank you for the Greatness. R.I.P. ❤
“The chocolate to my Twix”. You are the best!
If you ever checked out father figure? So good! George has such an amazing catalog Elton too!!!
Girl you need to watch that at least 100x over and over like I do ❤
My absolute favorite song!!!
That song is a Elton John song from the 70's
Just incase you didn't know 😉
George is one of my all time favorites...a true legend. Try I'm Feeling Good....
I am so over the moon you did this! Hardly any other reactors are doing George Michael and it's a crying shame.
This was a joy to watch you discover just how talented George was, one of the greatest vocalists of our era. You should watch his unplugged and Symphonica performances, and of course his legendary performance at Freddie Mercury's Tribute concert. Then you need to discover his talent for lyrics with Praying for Time, Jesus to a Child, You Have Been Loved etc.
Song didn't start yet but here come the tears. 😭❤
Okay okay this is the best reaction now! It's like you're at their concert
