A beautiful man , George you broke our hearts
Am I maybe alone with my opinion, but tell me, is there anybody in the world, who can sang this nearly as good as George?!? RIP both of them! This quality of music has gone.
And they both had respect for each other!!! 🥰
You are not alone George sang that amazing nobody else could have done that only George
Matter of opinion. My feeling is George Michael is the True King of Pop.
@@thedarkstranger963 my opinion to I think he’s the king of pop
He’s the king, so underrated!!! I remember being 5 years old and crying at my front door when my mom and her friends drove off to go to his concert in Lexington, KY without me and my sister. I’ve never been so heartbroken. She did come home with lots of autographed items for us though. They stayed in the same hotel as George and his entire band, and got to hang out with all of them for hours in the hotel one night. ❤❤❤
I love Brian's smile of approval after George hit that high note. No one else could have done that song justice. RIP to George and Freddie, singing with the angels.
It's actually the joy they had because the audience replied to the high note with the descending scale the way Freddie used to do that.
Actually he was smiling because the audience took over the last bit, as in he commanded them, just like Freddy. Which surprised Brian a bit and you can see it reminds him of those days. They all knew George was THE guy to sing this song. they literally asked him to.
THIS IS HOW YOU SING A SONG FROM THE HEART. GEORGE MICHAEL IS A TRUE LEGEND IN HIS OWN RIGHT. You are correct Wembley
RIP Mr. George Michael... the man with the biggest heart.
George put his heart and soul into this performance (as he always did) but what no one knew was that George's partner Anselmo, who was there that day, had been diagnosed with AIDS and had sworn George to secrecy. I can't imagine the emotions George must of been feeling, and how he held it together. Also George went to every rehearsal as he said he wanted to get it right, and you know what George, you nailed it 💜💜💜
Wow!
Agree. Knowing how much he loved Anselmo, I can't imagine how he found the strength and courage to do such an excellent powerful performance through all the emotions he was going through about his dying partner watching him in the audience. Just unbelievable 😥❤️
Absolutely true. This performance is so powerful not only because George's respect to Freddie, but also because Anselmo's situation. I admire his strenght!!
George Michael was a force of nature. His live performances are absolutely incredible 😎
Agreed! I went to his 25 live concert in 2006. Best concert I ever went to.
The best COVER ever of this song !! he killed it and just so emotional and just everything !! RIP George you are missed ! RIP Freddie we are still listening to your songs! BJ you are right ON about GM doing this song making it his own but also paying tribute to his friend and no holding back !! great choice you two ! Cheers!
I’ve seen this clip a hundred times and I’m always blown away by how awesome George Michael is. Absolutely fucking brilliant!
Me too bro,me too...
I remember watching this the first time it came aired and I cried. I watched your reaction today and cried again because now both George and Freddie are gone. These two and their music were the staple of my youth growing up in both the 1970s and 1980s and they had awesome music! The way the audience responded to this song and George Michael singing it, it was just impeccable is what it was! I am so glad I had the opportunity to see George Michael in concert during the late 1980s. He was fantastic singer and entertainer on the stage too! Rest in Peace George and Freddie. Enjoyed your reaction! ☮💕👍👏
He said he dodged some of the high notes he didnt want to risk it live
He took it seriously and practised a lot. It really paid respect to Freddie and did him and himself proud
Beautiful voice
No wonder, that particular one he did Somebody to Love was vocally one of the most demanding but I mean the entire Queen catalogue to the high range Freddie was actually able to go to, as much as the concert was filled with the great and good of rock music of that era none of them was going to be able to reach what Freddie did. But they still gave their utmost they still sounded amazing in their own right especially when as said this is Queen songs none of them an easy vocal ride so takes certain level of talent shall we say already. And yeah every single one of them gave it all for genuine appreciation love of Freddie, to honour his memory and of course appreciation, support for the rest of Queen with George Michaels bit being the extra bit of magic on that already so so special night!
He actually didn't doge the notes he only sang it the way he always sang. He didn't try sing it like Freddie he sang it like George.
George Michael's voice, persona....his stage presence is the closest to come to Freddie. Just look at Brian May's smile @ 7:04!! That's the stamp of approval right there! :)
However, I believe George has a better singing voice. He also doesn't adlib music & performs the same every time. His voice control has always been stunning and better than many others. LOL, Andrew. Always remember George & keep the music playing! 🥰🎶🎶🎶🕯😇💖
This video gets to me because not only is Freddie gone, so is George Michael. Both were so talented and I loved them so much growing up.
I have seen this performance many times. I'm no less amazed now as the first time. George Michael is revered and rightly so in the UK. Criminally under rated in the US. As great a live singer as I have ever heard. Genius.
That was 72,000 fans clapping and singing in unison - to a FANTASTIC cover. George is one of the best voices of the 80's along with Freddie and Steve Perry.
Freddie was a legend but so was George WOW what a performance it came straight from the heart!!❤️💯
I guess only George could pull this off with such power and charisma. RIP legend. Never will see another GM in our lifetime ❤️❤️❤️
In the George Michael documentary, they said that he rehearsed it over and over again. He was so concerned with doing justice in honoring Freddie. He made sure he delivered. The tribute to Freddie was huge. So many different performers were there.
Freddie Mercury tribute concert. George Michael had the best vocal and stage presence of anyone that day. He and Freddie are singing in heaven now...
To see you young people appreciate George Michael 's tribute to Freddie Mercurcy is awesome....I have see Queen live in concert twice and love George ❤
Thanks for this guys! Yeah man, George brought the black choir with him to do the song right. The concert in Wembley Stadium sold out 72,000 seats in 3 hours. George was so nervous because this was not only his favorite Queen song but it was Freddie's favorite Queen song as well. Sadly, George had learned that just before this concert that his partner Anselmo Feleppa had been diagnosed with AIDS, the same disease that took Freddie's life. Anselmo died 2 years after this concert. It was a loss that George would never recover from. George said he had to do two things in his performance, pay tribute to his friend and icon Freddie and pray for Anselmo. Queen's guitarist Brian May said he could hear Freddie's voice when George would sing certain notes. High praise indeed. Yes, George blew everyone away with this one. So glad you liked it!
Sorry we had to wait for yt to unblock the video before we could put it out!! We hope you enjoyed it!
Check out Brian May and Katy Perry performing Brighton rock Wembley stadium 2012 Olympic games.
♥ Freddie's control of the crowd was insane; even from the beyond. The full participation of the audience clapping in unison shows just how much we all loved Freddie. RIP George & Freddie.
I was at that concert, it was the most amazing live show I have ever seen. So filled with emotion. George completely got Freddie and he did the song justice and more !!
George was a vocal beast. I so miss him
George gave this performance that was not only stunning, but his own personal situation he was going through {and had just found out} was remarkable that he pulled it off. That pretty much sums up George though...outstanding. Miss him always. Thank you.
George was the only singer who could justifiably sing in Freddie's place!
Yes it was at the old Wembley. And George was the first performer that held a concert at the new one!(2007.)
I was at the tribute concert and, before that night, I had never been a big fan of George Michael. He was easily the best performer on the night and this song showed me what a great singer he was and, as you said, he got as close to Freddie as it was possible to get. Just before this, he sang "39" which he said was one of the songs he did when he was busking in London.
You lucky, lucky lucky man!! 👍👍👍
Both vocals are missed, Freddie was totally amazing
@ Dave Loboda yep, I was there too, incredible.
George’s version of 39 is brilliant.
You know what was the most amazing thing about that crowd? Not a single phone held up in the air recording what you should've been enjoyed in the moment. Of course we didn't have them then...thank goodness.
In my life I've seen the Rolling Stones, the Who, Paul McCartney, Bob Seger, Bruce Springsteen, Prince, Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Stevie Nicks, etc etc. Not a single video recording. The moments live in my memory and no video could ever replace those 😎
George Michael was the only performer that night who got all ppl... ALL ppl clapping and singing like they did. Nobody else could do that magic on stage.
George truly nailed this song. He was a dynamic as Freddie.
BJ, your expressions are magnificent.
Asia, you are a beautiful soul .
Be thankful for her BJ.
You two are great together.
This was just an excellent performance. George did this song proud.
I was born in 68 so lived the Queen and WHAM George Michael era. This was a cultural event that will never happen again. Gives me chill bumps, makes me cry, blows the mind, just so much emotion packed in this performance. Excellent react and RIP two of the greatest.
Great reaction, guys! George offered the crowd the best performance of the night at that concert!
I was there it was a very emotional day and George was the only one who came close ...the crowd was epic and sang every word all day
Take a look at George Michael singing A Different Corner live on the Michael Parkinson. Absolutely Brilliant
NAILED IT!!!!!!! That performance was amazing. Like you said, a difficult song to attempt and this was incredible. Not sure anyone else could have pulled that off vocally. Hurts my heart that we've lost both Freddie and George. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Both legends gone and much much missed.
No one performs like Freddie Mercury. George Michael's tribute to Freddie was/is the only version that I have ever heard that even came close to the original. He did a phenomenal job, in front of thousands of Queen fans. Edited to add, judging by the expressions on your faces, you both totally get it.
A great tribute to Freddie. George is probably the only one who can do this song justice.
George Michael was a great singer and sang with power and emotion. But to say he is probably the only who could do this justice is wrong. Listen to Marc Martel sing this song. Adam Lambert has sung this over 200 times as the lead singer for Queen for the last 10 years. Also George Michaels sisters asked Adam Lambert to sing at tribute to George Michaels. He sang Faith and One Last Try. Look it up on UA-cam you might be surprised
I will always love George Michael more than anyone. #RIP to both of them ❤❤❤
Classic George ! He was incredible, his voice and talent is missed ❤️
Wembly also was where Live AID was held.
Yes..this was Wembly.
George Michael was great on his own, singing a Queen song just added to his greatness.
He does a cover of the Stevie Wonder song As with Mary J Blige that is so good. His cover of I Can't make You Love Me, is perfect just beautiful.
Love George Michael.
George's excellence on full show ✨ 💜✨
There was only one Freddie Mercury. But remember, there was only one George Michael as well. They were both superstars. They were both loved very much and it is just so sad that they are both no longer with us. RIP Freddie and George. Your magic lives on with all of us x
I agree Michael! Miss both of them being in the world. RIP George and Freddie - we are still listening to all the amazing music you left us and you will never be forgotten.
and there is only one you.
George Michael was a perfect choice. His vocals are always great
Check out his duet with Elton John - Don’t let the sun go down on me
I LOVE THE SONG, I LOVE GEORGE 😍
2 Absolute legends throughout my life, to have lost them both so young is Tragic, Wow what a tribute to Freddy from George..
Incredible!! Only George Michael could perfectly interpret this wonderful song by Queen!
George Michael singing Freddie Mercury! I gotta give him credit, he nailed it!!!!!
Nobody else could have done it. George was a genius. He nailed it. ❤❤
The whole concert was amazing 👍🏻🎤🎸 Such a tribute to Freddie
One of my favorite performances by George Michael is the MTV Unplugged concert. Y‘all should check that out, insane vocals and great chemistry with the background singers. Really fun to watch
This is Wembley Stadium. And this entire concert is amazing. It’s a wonderful tribute to Freddie.
Check out Zucherro’s performance. It’s something else. ✌️🙏🏻
Paul Young also did a great version of Radio Ga-Ga.
And an honourable mention to Elton John & Axel Rose for their duet of Bohemian Rhapsody.
There is a great video on UA-cam of George Michael and queen rehearsing this song and you have David Bowie and seal in the background in awe of George Michaels voice !! :)....some big musicians performed at this concert ...everybody loved Freddie :)
RIP George and Freddie ❤️❤️
From same disease as far as i know
@@mconcaz George didn’t have aids
The absolute greatest Performance that Night. It was also nice to see all of those artists paying Tribute to Freddie and Queen. I suffered very much after Freddie died and that event helped me a bit to overcome that Sadness.
George did an amazing job and Freddie would have been proud of how he performed this song. Rest in Power to both Freddie and George 🙏
You're exactly right BJ... not many people even deserve to attempt Freddie's music. But George Michael?!..... hell yeah! Had goosebumps nearly the whole time he's singing. God, that man's voice!
Guys this was so great!! George Michael did an amazing tribute to Freddie!!
Yes it was Wembley & it was the Tribute concert to Freddie just after he passed.
And his was the best performance of the day.
Miss George SOOOOO much! This is one of the best from that tribute concert or any tribute concert EVER!! I think Freddie was smiling down on George for this one. This is my mom's favorite Queen song. It took her a hot minute to remember who sang it (though with as much as her children listen/love Queen it really shouldn't). BJ, you nailed it. That is Wembley Stadium!!
What an extraordinary performance!! Easily the best on the night.
There is also a video of the rehearsal out there. Just in a sound studio with a few people watching on, David Bowie included, and George still smashes it.
Can you imagine the feeling of being on stage and seeing the effect you are having on that huge audience. That would be mind blowing!!
Thank you for the reaction.
I absolutely love George singing this song! He was perfect for it!
There is a rehearsal video for this performance as well and I love seeing David Bowie show up and listen to George doing this song. Gives me chills. Too many legends gone too soon!
You know this is going to be great, George Michael and Queen, no more needs to be said, however 😂, George Michael is fricken awesome, RIP Freddie and George ❤
This is the best cover of this song, by the late George Michael wonderful full on George at the Freddie Mercury tribute concert ❤ at Wembley Stadium the old one before it was demolished
What an awesome tribute to Freddie. And no one but George could do it. Miss them both. RIP George and Freddie.
ive seen this dozen and dozens of times and i get emotional everytime like the first time. goosebumps for sure
I adore George Michael and this version of this song. (Don't tell anyone but this is my favorite version of the song.)🤫
George Michael is a legend! His voice is amazing
This was hands down. stunning and powerful. Freddie would 1000% approved of it imo! You need to watch Elton John, Queen & Axl Rose do Bohemian Rhapsody - That was also AMAZING from this tribute. Long live Freddie and George. Rip to both.
He was easily the best performer that evening. His rendition of those were the days of our lives with Lisa Stansfield was absolutely brilliant. Great reaction guys and very warm wishes from the UK.
I loved that duet. Nobody reacts to it and it was amazing.
@@rosa32 Hi Holly
Yes much to my bemusement nobody reacts to it!! I hope you are well. Take care.
As Queen performed for Live Aid in 1985 and did their own tour in 1986, the only place this could ever take place was in Wembley Stadium.
George Michael is great in his own right, but as you said, he did more than give this justice. Also, this was the only song to be released by Queen as a single off the back of this Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert. It even made its way onto Queen's Greatest Hits Volume III and Greatest Hits Platinum Collection (the three Greatest Hits albums put together). After this, many people suggested that George perform on tour with the remaining members of Queen, but he had a vocal style that only suited a handful of Queen songs, so it never happened in his lifetime.
I recently heard this song performed on the Taylor Hawkins Tribute Concerts by Queen and the Foo Fighters with Sam Ryder (who came second for the UK in the Eurovision Song Contest) at Wembley Stadium. Although he performed it similarly to George Michael, and his vocals were OK, I feel it paled compared to Freddie or George.
I have also had the chance to see Pink! perform with Queen and the Foo Fighters at the Los Angeles' Kia Forum, and her performance, in my own opinion, was even worse with her just missing lines and missing her cue. I don't know if she had much time to practice with them, but it is not like her, who is usually so professional. It was almost like she was in awe to be around them, often gesturing to Brian May when she should have been singing the next part of the song. Sorry if it upsets Pink! fans, but I do enjoy listening to her now and again, so I feel disappointed with her performance on this occasion.
On both occasions, both bands themselves excelled, as was to be expected.
It was so much fun not only reliving this song with GM performing his ass off but also watching Asia who didn’t stop smiling and BJ just appreciating the hell out of the performance! Yes, it was Wimbley!
Annie Lennox and David Bowie did a great tribute duet to Freddy as well
You really have to see Freddie singing OPERA with Montserat Cabelle. Freddie wrote it. A whole album!
Freddie' s fav song 🥰. Wonderful Michael.
I think it is the biggest tribute to a singer. I think billion people watched it too.
Two amazing talents…the world is a bit emptier without them. Great reaction guys thank you ❤
Epic performance and watching Asia’s smile throughout made it extra special!
I had never see this amazing performance before. Wow that was grand.
I beet Freddie Mercury smile and get tears over this concert, from heaven 😢❤
I hope your guys react to when Elton John and Axl Roses performance of "Bohemian Rapsody" in this amazing Freddie Mercury tribute concert.
George was absolutely perfect to sing this in memory of Freddi. I'm only throwing this in there because to me he is "the voice" but Steve Perry could've pulled the notes also. Again George was perfect and I had goose bumps too!
Wow, this is a stunning performance and the closest thing to the superstar Freddie himself 😔 x
Goosebumps 10 fold Asia. I hear you girl. I even got teary eyed watching you both enjoying this as much as I was.
George was Great & Freddy was the Greatest! Love them both.
They are up in Heaven singing their asses off! Ha, Ha!
❤️🙏✌️🔥🤘🏼
Only George Michael could do that. That was history!!! Freddy watches from heaven with tears of emotion and gratitude
Why is it, that the most of the tortured & sensitive souls, have the most powerful & memorable lyrics, & then, have to leave us so early *RIP George Michael, & Freddie Mercury, you are so missed by all who loved you and your music!!!* 💖💖💖 And Asia, I know that grin, I have it whenever I listen to George Michael too!!! 😊😍☺🥰
goosebumps. superbbbb George Michael
George stole the show that night! Freddie was smiling down on him.
Great reaction xx
All artists had to drop the original keys of the songs except GM. Respect.
Highlights on the night included this (with George Michael later revealing he was singing the song to his partner in the audience who was dying of AIDS) and his rendition of "'39"
and David Bowie and Annie Lennox singing 'Under Pressure' was special.

This entire concert is fire! It's worth watching the whole thing. So many music industry legends performed with Queen. Guns N Roses, Elton John, Annie Lennox, David Bowie, Liza Manelli, Lisa Stansfield, Def Leppard, Roger Plant, and so very many more! The whole concert is hit after hit.
You're right guys, that's Wembley Stadium and there's at least 100,000 crazy Queen fans there that night. God bless George for an amazing performance.
Love your reactions! I was so lucky to see George Michael live in the 80s for his Faith Concert. He was AMAZING live! sounded perfect, engaged with the crowd, had great moves...best concert I've ever been to. So very sad he's gone. What a loss.
Another GREAT performance from this concert at WEMBLEY is a duet with George Michael & Lisa Stansfield doing another great Queen song, "These Are The Days Of Our Lives".
Another great duet, George Michael & WHITENY HOUSTON "If I Told You That".👍🥂
Lisa stansfield and George michael days of our lives. Fantastic
What a HUGE song. By which I mean, every aspect is oversized; the lyrics, the singing, the instrumentation, the performance all around.... Find me a song to love!
I love George. Such a tragic loss to music. He had such a great voice and he and Freddie were the best singers in the world. If anyone can sing a Queen song, it's him and Elton John.
Elton John?
The remarkable thing about this concert was that it sold out in hours, before acts had even been announced. I can watch the whole show over and over.
George Michael: The only one who is really able to sing a queen song - cause he had the vocal abilities and much more important he felt this song from the bottom of his heart! IMO George was also just looking for true love and acceptance… both failed somehow and passed away much too early. I miss them so much ♥️😢
I've watched a number of videos from this tribute. They were all good, some better than others. George nailed this.
Young lady you aren't the only one who got goosebumps, I do too every time I watch this.
Now consider I saw Queen twice, in '80 & '82, Freddie had the crowd in the palm of his hand.
In fact if you watch, or have watched, any from their Live in Montreal videos that's the tour I saw them on in 1980 in Madison Square Garden.
Excellent performance I never get tired of watching. Asia & BJ - you owe it to yourselves to watch the entire concert, I think you'd love it. I know it's available on DVD (I own it) - but a lot of the performances I'm sure are on UA-cam. My favorite second only to the band Extreme who did a beautiful version at this concert of "Love of My Life". Seriously, if you love Queen, check out as much of this amazing tribute concert as you can. And yes, it was at Wembley Stadium.
This performance is amazing because George is respecting the original song and doing his own thing at the same time. That's not easy !
