Hell yea! This was the first Slipknot song I ever heard and got me into them. Always love Joeys drumming! 🤘🏻
This was the first Slipknot song I heard with Corey singing. I knew a girl from the Midwest that was a Slipknot fan from before Corey and like me, was a Mr. Bungle fan as well. Their old stuff was a lot like older Bungle but then this shit came out and we were all like, "THIS band grew up a little bit" 😂 Next thing we knew, they became one of the biggest metal bands that has ever existed in the world
The official video was a weird live version but the "FUCK YOU ALL" in that performance is still my absolute favorite Corey Taylor scream ever. He just meant it and you can feel it and it's probably even more therapeutic today than it was when I was an angsty teenager. You're also absolutely never supposed to scream like he did.
"Eeyore." Hidden track on the same album and probably the heaviest song on the entire album. You should check out "Diluted", too.

If you want the flipside from Corey, a song like "Through Glass" from Stone Sour is probably the best example. It's a soft rock song at best, but still very interesting and catchy. I think it was a legitimate hit for the band, at least it was in Canada.

Sat down with my coffee and enjoyed this. Thanks fellas, been really enjoying Slipknot Saturday. This song live in a small club was one of the most intense pits I have ever been apart of. Was an amazing experience I will never forget.
When you brought up the possible topic of suicide, I immediately thought of "Everything ends", a highly requested iowa track. Touches a lot on that topic and the emotions that coincide with it.

I remember back in a 1999 music fest. and they started playing this. we were singing along big time .great memories
I was a meta/goth/industrial fan in the British Army when this album came out. It might have changed by now, but back when this came out in '99 it wasn't easy being "ALT" in the military. This became a bit of an anthem for me.
I absolutely love those sections in Joeys drumming where it almost sounds like slow foot steps on the snare. You hear it at like 8:53 in this song, as well as the ending of “sic”.

Imagine u r a 14/15 year old in 99 and u hear this song for the first time.....🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯. This whole album wrecked my head for awhile especially this song particularly the drums man....
Check out Stone Sours Whiplash Pants. Corey wrote it about his kids and about how they can take things for granted and how he might not always be there to get them out of trouble. Its one of S.S.s heavier tunes on their later stuff. Their first album has some fairly heavy stuff mixed into it. Like on the first album check out Get Inside.

I remember this came out in my junior year of high school and I was hooked. That was my favorite album. I still play that today. I hope you check out Septicflesh Prototype live, I promise you it's not a troll request. They didn't play this when I saw them with Deicide and you will see why!

One thing to take into account with the drumming of Slipknot, they had Chris and Shawn also drumming in fills along with striking the beer keg. Their sound was just fucking tribal in my opinion. For instance the song Disasterpiece off of the Iowa album, Joey starts the drumming off, Shawn joins in after a bit and then Chris after that. What a lot of people don't realize is that all 3 of them intertwined their drumming within each other's playing so well that it can be hard to hear it, but I promise you can if you listen closely 🙂. It's fucking awesome and very unique. I think you both nailed it on the head, all 9 members threw everything out there on this album and it's a masterpiece in my opinion. Great reaction!!!

Got Mick's guitar pick after the last song of the night, which was this song. Happened a few weeks ago. Pretty lucky, I was surprised nobody caught it and it landed by my feet. I was also about 15 people deep from the front so it caught some air!

Fellas… I remember listening to Self Titled aka Red Jumpsuit Era LOL and this song blew my mind like the album did too. Aggression and unapologetic lyrics, there’s nothing better IMO except IOWA, the two first albums set the pace for this band. Overall Surfacing is one of my favourite songs from Slipknot.
One reason i love this song is this special sound from the beginning, which reminded me of the bats from the first Diablo game. :D

When this album came out I was 15 years old, whenever my mum went out shopping and I looked after my Nephew, we would do WWE style wrestling lol, we both had entrances, THIS was my entrance music, absolute banger, heavy as Hell, I love the venom Corey puts in his deliver, this is still the best Slipknot album ever, at the same time there was a Canadian all girl Metal Band called Kittie, you should do a few songs from them if you haven’t already.
