Fire Arrows are required in both Shadow Room and Spirit Room in Ganon's Castle before advancing to the next room, especially dispelling the Sage's barrier, such as freeing Impa and Nabooru, respectively. Fire Arrows are optional in both Forest Room, and Water Room, but it is fun to light up the torch above the door, or melt the ice based enemies, such as the Freezards, as well as melting the icicles that are hanging from the ceilings as of glitches, including using Din's Fire in two rapid successions, one for the torch that is over the barred door to the next room by using the longshot to that lone torch and use Din's Fire, when it is done, then quickly dash to the center of the four torches and use Din's Fire to light up the four torches, and if the aim is true, the barred door is open to the next room.
I just beat the game without fire arrows. Well shot arrow through a torch burns the webs in spirit room. Dins fire, long shot, and spamming roll with hover boots gets you through shadow
If you came with the mask on and they shooted at you it's a bug, when you get one item of the biggoron sword quest (i don't remember wich) you can't get the deku nuts upgrade anymore
The max rupee amount differs from generation to generation. Luckily, getting 30 Gold Skulltulas isn't too difficult. It's even possible to glitch the game to get as many as you want.
Note: if you already has the poachers saw, you wont be able to get the 40 deku nuts upgrade

I came with the skull mask and it worked.
But I came back with the bunny hood and they attacked.

Nope. The Giant's Wallet (500 rupees) is the biggest in Ocarina of Time.

I'm not entirely sure, but with the 3DS version coming many years later, I would guess Nintendo fixed it.
