- Paint a whimsical watercolor elephant with me!!! I'm really kinda in love with this little whimsical elephant. We'll learn an easy way to break down his shape to make the drawing part easy. We'll use a couple different watercolor techniques. We'll learn how to lift watercolor back off, and we'll finish it off with some fun and whimsical embellishments.

✏️ Supplies Needed ✏️
I have only provided specific links for the things that can't be found at any art/craft supply store, and I do not get commission on anything I recommend - these are just the supplies I love.
Paper: I usually use Strathmore 400 acrylic paper, but for watercolor, any watercolor paper (140 lb. or heavier) will work.
Pens: Love Sharpies, but generally any waterfast pen will work (Sakura Pigma Micron pens are excellent and don't smear with water)
Watercolor: My most used sets are Josie Lewis and Art Philosophy Co. Watercolor Confections sets

Tape: I prefer Washi tape 1" wide - generally available at any art/craft store, but you an use painter's tape as well. In this video I used Scotch Wall Tape.
Eraser: Because people ask! :) I love the Pentel Hi-Polymer white erasers
White Pen: Pentel Sparkle Pop White, however....I don't think it worked as well as the Uniball Signo White Gel Pen
Watercolor Crayon - white (but a regular Crayola type crayon will work.

Hi! I just recently found you here on UA-cam and have been enjoying your video's. I love your style of teaching and have used a couple of your designs on greeting cards. I've not painted with watercolors in the past, but have watered down my acrylic paints a few times to give a water color effect. You have convinced me though to invest in some watercolor paint. LOL Thank you for your great video's!!

What number pencil do you use and what kind of eraser- my eraser doesn’t really get rid of pencil marks.
Thanks Karen! I'm glad you think its fun...I do too! My pencils are just inexpensive click pencils - I think usually come with #2 lead. Nothing special. My eraser is worth its weight in gold though!😂 Pentel High Polymer White eraser. Most art & craft stores have 'em. Amazon has 'em. My grocery stores here even carry them with the school supplies. My fav eraser!

I love your drawings. I can't get my hands around waterpaints no matter how I try, but I enjoy watching you. What kind of board do you use to tape your pictures to? I think the bleed just adds to the whimsical look
Hi Wendy! Watercolors can be frustrating sometimes. I first learned them when I was in high school & hated them. I put them away for more than 30 yrs before I tried again!😂😂😂 You have to be willing to let go of a bit of control with them. However, if they are too frustrating, try something else like colored pencils or acrylic paints. You can do these with just about any medium, they'll just look a little different.
The boards I use are just cheap canvas panels - most often US Art Supply brand because they are inexpensive. If you look on Amazon for "canvas panels" you should find them - the ones I'm using are 11x14" size.
I might have missed you telling this but what size is your piece of paper than you drew on? I know it can be drawn on any size but what size is this? And I love your whimsical drawings...thank you☺

i love your paint along videos. i use an embroidery soluble ink pen you instead of a pencil and it disappears when you paint on it. thankyou

Hi Julie! Glad you had fun with these! Yes, you can buy mats. If you have an art store or something like Michael's, you can probably find them there. If not, Amazon. I like to look local first because I can take my art in & hold the mat to it to check size. If you are ordering online, watch the "inside" or opening dimensions to make sure the opening is enough for your picture. You can also have a framing store cut a mat for you if your picture isn't a standard size. Hope that helps.💜
What color purple did you use?

Why can’t i find the first part of this?
I'm not sure what you mean by "can't find the first part". Does the video not start at the beginning for you? I just checked it on this end and it starts at the very beginning on my end (how to draw it before the pai ting starts). Happy to help troubleshoot if you can tell me more about what's happening for you.

Why dont you try and tell us what your doing After you paint. Not while you paint. Also, why are your intros so long?
Because that's how I do it. If it doesn't work for you, that's ok.😁 There are lots of other people making videos & we all do it differently.
