My first concert was journey I was about 10 years old my uncle took me saw them at the tangerine bowl in Orlando it was awesome rock Super Bowl journey,Aerosmith,Sammy Hagar,John cougar, Brian Adams,Joan Jett, all day show noon to midnight it rained all day but was still a lifelong memory

Can we all agree Journey became a legendary band when STEVE PERRY joined Journey. When he left they have not done anything that top the charts. When they tour they sing songs that Perry wrote or co- wrote. His voice made the songs what they are. Without those songs they could not tour
Takes me back to the 80s cruisin round town with this blastin picking up girls and just hanging out with friends doing nothing but wasting time and loving as 17 year old me..

Neil's guitar is wailing, but restrained. Right on the edge, phenomenal.
My older sister was there. She was in 10th grade I think. Had to sneak out to go see the concert with some older friends who lived down the road. We still live in NW Houston all these years later.

Steve Perry had a new album in 2018 and he's working on a new one now. There is a video for one of singles from his last solo album called Most of All. It is classic Steve Perry. A lot more understated but still his beautiful voice. Maybe you can react to it...
In the top 5 male rock vocalists of all time. If someone said he's #1, I wouldn't argue with them. And steve smith on drums is one of the greatest drummers in the world. I've never met a drummer who disagreed.
Yepper ... saw Journey many times with Perry and Smith (my favorite lineup). As a professional drummer I can assure you, Steve is easily in the top 10 of all time. A few years back I saw Journey with Deen Castronovo on drums and AP on vocals. Deen is no slouch with the sticks and covered Perry's vocals admirably ... but it just wasn't the same. AP was running all over the stage and was too out of breath to extend the notes properly. Still ... the music was Awesome! Rock on ... ^v^
@@taproom113 agreed. Steve was also my favorite drummer in the band. I also love Dean though. For me, him singing and playing drums is the next best thing to this lineup here. I think his vocal power matches better than Arnel.

Dean is not either Steve but he's a monster to do so well representing both at the same time.

Journey was an OK band, but they became an AMAZING band once Steve joined. Perry's voice will never be replaced. I don't care if they found someone even close, Noone will be able to tap into those high, long notes like Perry can. He blended all the notes perfectly. I miss him with the band. I just wish they could work out their differences but I know things ended pretty raw to where it will be a miracle if they could play together again. I keep praying it would happen some day. They need him back.

I was a senior in high school. This was a special MTV Concert I watched it in my bedroom and was mesmerized. Already was a big Journey fan.
Oh and in my car was girls music ha ha if I wanted dates. REO Speedwagon Foreigner and Journey.

Ross Valory just quietly killing it in the background on the bass. While Schon is plenty flashy and melodic in the foreground, that groove behind him is just rockin'.
True but I've seen in more than one place that Schon ( much like Eddie Van Halen did in his band) wrote all the bass parts for Journey. The entire band was very tight live and held things down which enabled Perry to do his thing vocally

I saw them in 82 I believe. This is off " Escape" I also believe. That was by far their pinnacle album. Them like a few more bands of this era were so solid. You just don't see that many bands like this anymore let alone so many at the same time like the late 70s and early eighties. I went to some many epic concerts.
I got the live album Captured on my phone!! I talked two babes ( one way hotter than the other) into taking me because I knew how to get there and I even got them to by the beer ( score) plus I talked my way into the Ventura Fairgrounds!! I had soooooooo much fun!! Thank you!

Great choice, of course! I remember when this video came out on MTV back in the early days. Nice that Jonathan Cain also played rhythm guitar (but walked in front of Steve at one point). They were unique at the time in that their first videos were live performances, and the other bands (primarily British) had the concept videos (which I absolutely loved).

My 80's band (in the 80's) played a couple a few of their songs ("Separate Ways", "Don't Stop Believin", Lovin Touchin Squeezin") but we had to have the female singer do the vocals, cuz they were way too high for us guys - envious, but appreciative). You are the best!

I have that show on DVD. The entire set is phenomenal, and the production is amazing. There are some recordings on UA-cam of some of their sets in Japan from that tour that are incredible. The sound quality isn’t quite as good on those shows, but there’s more spontaneity in the performances, and they mix up the set lists a lot, so you hear some less mainstream songs and more improvisation. Steve Perry didn’t really care for doing live albums, because he was a perfectionist and was happier when he could just go out and have fun.

Steve Perry came back to music. Look up his album “Traces”. If you love Journey, that record will leave you stunned when you find out it his first time singing in 25 years
Look for the behind the scenes bits where Steve talks and shows how each song was made. Wish he would do a longer compilation as it is very interesting. He also looks so happy.
In my opinion this is the only time Journey allowed Neil Schon to show his true talent. Look up Schon and Hammer. By the way. Love your smile.

Great reaction darlin! You must dig deeper into Steve Perry my dear;-). Take a listen to the beginning of the concert in Tokyo 1980 (Pre Jonathan Cain) when Greg Rollie was with the band and Steve's voice was even more pristine. Saw them for the first time in 1979 The Captured tour. Since then I have been hooked and mainly on Steve Perry. Would love to see more reactions, it makes feel very nostalgic. Thanks for the good feelings!

I saw Journey on the Open Arms tour 😁♥️. When they started doing the songs from Infinity and Evolution some idiot 🥴 threw a glow stick 😲 and hit Steve Perry in the head 😠 in the middle of "Lovin', Touchin', Squeezin'" 🤪! He wiped his head and saw the blood, looked over at Neil Schon and gave him a wrap it up signal and BOOM! they walked off the stage 😢! One DUMBASS ruined it for the rest of us 😤! They were great 🤘but we missed seeing them play their older hits 😭! Damnit 😖!

You absolutely must listen to Feelin That Way / Anytime from Captured. It’s on my opinion their best live song and it’s the best of both worlds because you’ll also hear Gregg Rolie. Listen ASAP you won’t regret it.

Journey is in the rock and roll hall of fame. He showed up to the ceremony and accepted the award, but did not play with the band. I was upset as the band wanted him to sing, but he was too emotional and declined. He and cain wrote all their songs so he should have performed, but I understand why he did not.

@@KristinKali Kristin, I work with people in the entertainment industry. They buy real estate from me. I have never met Steve, but I know people who are related to him. I know the inside story on why he split from the band and why he never came back. Steve has a lot of issues. But he is a good guy overall. He was actually really nervous to sing at the rr hof ceremony. But he still can sing really well. But not quite to his standards. He is also still hurting from the loss of his wife.

Hi friend... you may not know.. i recently got a copyright strike 5 days ago... so i might have spent to much time reading the comments (my bad) also Journey is very emotional for me.. im from where Steve is originally from. That being said .. he is a part of my life since i was a baby :) i have tried counting to 3 even 10 and even have redone videos up to 5 times, edited, re-edited, chopped, and just gave up on youtube & these precious videos out of pure frustration... i understand yours... MarkB here has seen me since the beginning almost quit UA-cam COUNTLESS times bc i feel reactors SHOULD NEVER PAUSE MUSIC... really if anyone asks you tell them ... reactors should get an I>D. so that youtube gives us a break instead of 3 strikes and we TAKE your channel ... so that is why sweet one all the drama... cause the heap this drama on us... and im not stealing this music just sharing with all of you my friends :) HAPPY HALLOWEEEN WARLOCK!!

@@KristinKali I've seen many bands that sound better live than in studio. Deep Purple, Blue Oyster Cult, The Eagles, 38 Special, Kansas, Rush, Grand Funk Railroad, Harry Connick jr., Rare Earth, Kiss even Iron Butterfly. Those are just the bands I've seen live; I'm sure there are others.
