Great memories.... I actually made up that song on the spot for Jeff to demonstrate that groove!!
I can spend hours listening to Jeff Porcaro playing drums. He was a master! He could play every type of music, pop, soft rock, jazz. He was famous for his half shuffel drum. He will ever be a legend. The best drummer I had the chance to play in live.
He plays this groove in Pamela... so so smooth. I could listen to it isolated endlessly!
Being a professional acoustic drummer for many moons Jeff Porcaro was and always be my favorite drummer and Toto my favorite band.😊
Grazie Maestro, ancora oggi siamo qua ad ascoltarti e ad imparare ❤
私のフィルインの原型はすべてジェフのものからもらいました。素晴らしいのです。グルーヴ、ボーカルを後押しするタイム感、やはり天才すぎるのです。
it's sad to think of how many more wonderful drum parts we have missed out on losing Jeff so young.
He was getting better - his playing seemed to evolve as time went on. When I heard "Jake to the Bone" - that was pinnacle
All the fusion drummers from the 90s in Atlanta were Jeff Porcaro clones
Really!? Lucky you! 😳
I mean I never heard them give Jeff Porcaro props for influencing their style
@@hotlanta35 You know all the drummers in Atlantic and have asked them all?
I saw them all during that time period
My number one influence and inspiration for drums
RIP Jeff
❤
Forget the rest, I hope he's up 24/7 jammin and rockin out!!!
The best groove drummer, by far. The proof is right here-!!! ❤
dude is up there with Vinnie Colaiuta
@@julianc.6589I would say that Jeff grooves better than Vinnie, but Vinnie’s chops are certainly legendary. Overall, Vinnie might be better, but if it’s a groove, I’ll take Jeff, Steve Gadd, or Steve Jordan everyday.
@@spencergsmith Exactly! Vinnie is SUPER technical, and I LOVE it, though all of those odd time sigs ("Seven Days" etc) have their place, as does a simple groove. Not cutting wither drummer down, and I love both.
How can anyone not love this guy??? What feel for the groove and the pocket. Spot on jeff. PS: I hope when we're all reunited one day with our loved ones I get to finally meet Jeff in the after life and tell him how much I enjoyed every swing of the stick he performed... and then I hope we can play drums together for a tune or two.
Not sure you wanna hang your hat on that hope mi amigo.
Definitely a genius, a legend. Toto still streams a ton from songs that hit back in the day.
A great drummer, a genius is a bit exaggerated.
That groove is not very difficult.
@@stevemiller1517 Yeah but I like them.
The feel!!
When he starts into that ride cymbal and those hi-hat hits around the 0:47 mark-oof!!
Master
Mitico!!! 🌟🌟🌟
Another variation of the Perdie shuffle. Thanks again Bernard
Dafür,dass er shuffles gehasst hat, spielt er ihn gut🤪🙏😊
Jeff Porcaro also luvs Paiste 😎
Come faceva "camminare" la batteria lui, nessun altro mai.....R.I.P. Jeff
Come faceva vedere la batteria molto facile ! leggenda !!!
Toto didn't need a metronome, Jeff was it
Metronomes need Jeff
🎼JEFFPORCAROFOREVER🥁🥇❤️🔥
Oh my lord !!! ❤❤❤
Great 2002’s sound!
The only thing more delicious than Jeff's playing are his hihats.
Smooth
1:02 That Snare roll YO!!!!! HOW IS NO ONE HEARING THAT???? Holy Fuck!!! Jeff is SO LEGITAMATE , Legend Drummer!!!! Damn.
God he had pocket.❤
Aja drums took me here.
RIP JP
Hmm sure looks like a pearl hi end kit with finished inside shells ... a lot of drum forum scuttle that he only played gretsch and hardly ever used the drums he endorsed, even though he almost always on a yamaha 9000 or a pearl mlx kit in footage of him playing.. the guy could play a garbage can and kill it ... the best pocket i e ever heard is this guys time
Pamela...
What kind a cymbals? 🤣
?????????????????
I was expecting him to do a Blakey shuffle or something considering the excerpt is called a “jazz shuffle” (which mind you, he probably could play that, it’s Jeff Porcaro for christs sake) but nevertheless, the pocket is so deep it’s in his shoes!
In the original instructional video they or him called this a jazz shuffle 🤷🏻♂️
John Bonham did it first.
Purdey was first to be fair.
@@wannabeadrummer
I should have said Bonham did it before Porcaro 😉 But you're right.
Pocaro is just so smooth, probably the smoothest of all 3😊
Porcaro, bloody spell check 😊
@@wannabeadrummer
A drummer can be *too* smooth.
I even hear a little Dave Grohl in there 🍻
Dave Grohl??? He's garage band stuff!
Effortless
XDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD
A) That isn't Jazz b) That isn't a shuffle
Hahahahaha you are? See the original video of him and say jazz shuffle
A.) You're wrong. B.) You're wrong again.
half time shuffle
@@fredzaccheo9165 sounds like straight 16ths to me ...
@@Karch.Dah-Veedthere not lol stop talking bro
These technical-before-all-else guys REALLY love their shuffles. LOL.🙄🙄Yaaaaawwn. Decades of repetition with this guy. 🙄🤮
