Highway To Hell, James Bond Theme, Twilight Zone, Manic Depression... Another day in the studio. Look at them smiling. Kids, THIS is how you make music.
I love seeing Jeff and Steve smile. Jeff will always be in my memory because he was the first drummer to really open my ears. Some drummers just make noise, Jeff was a real musician.
gravics Toto played Biloxi a few year back and I thought about Jeff the whole time. It was a great show!!! Steve did a spot on impersonation of Boz Scaggs!
I love Luke's comment towards the end about when your dad gets home and says he had a hard day at work not to listen to him. It looks like they had more fun in the studio.
I think it was a session for Raymone Carter, i can see "Eyes don't Lie" music sheet, and the song called" I will always be around" was recorded by Mike, Jeff Porcaro, Steve Lukather and Omartian. Recorded by Terry Christian...
How did Jeff always make the cymbals ring over the bar line? The slow decay is just so incredible. His cymbal work and of course his silky hi hat was insane!
Man this is golden.. All of these players are great. For me especially it's nice to see two prime Steely Dan session players in Omartian and J. Porcaro. Thank you so much for posting this.
The only thing that was important to the members of Steely Dan,in the studio, was a great drum track and amongst all session drummers,Jeff was the best at it without a doubt. That statement just goes to show just how gifted, respected and professional he was out of all the union guys during his decades of work. On check pickup day,Jeff's stack was always 10 times taller than everyone else's.What a pro and what a huge loss.IMO,the loss of Jeff in the session community was equivalent to the loss of Eddie Van Halen in the live music community.
Jeff Was Playing on His Recording set of Gretsch Toms using Pearl Mounts and a Ludwig Bass drum, He loved that Ludwig Maple Ply Bass Drum I believe it was Taught or advised to him by HAL BLAINE
Michael O is a MONSTER session pianist. If you’re the dude who made the final album cut on Aja...that’s basically the same as being among the best of the best
He's played for Amy Grant...Cetera.... I think also aided Toto with layered keys parts.... This cat's been "Everywhere", as the old Hank Snow record says. My first axe is keys.
my mentors at work! I cant get over how young you guys look here?! this is amazing footage! incredible! you guys grew up in the golden age - now all music is shpilkus!!
inte för att vara elak, Men Jeff var hög på droger här,, Vet inte varför jag känner så,, jätte tråkigt, man blir så ledsen , så bra musiker,,, vila i frid Jeff,,
Still hard to believe Jeff has been gone nearly 30 yrs and Toto never got to perform as a band ever again. Jeff's widow , Susan , put a stop to the band. She remarried a few years after Jeff passed . Remarried to a millionaire but the band can't even go by Toto and try to make a living. I remember reading Steve saying he can't even mention her name for fear of being sued by her again !
Does anyone know his cymbal setup, sizes and models he used? In all the Porcaro videos I find myself marveling at his cymbal sound, both ride bell and crashes. They sound amazing.
Are you sure that it is that song playing in the background 1.39-1.46? Because I can't hear it. Maybe it is the wrong version that I heard, I believe it was the album version.

So good! Luke, Porcaro, and Omartian! Best of the best!
And of course, Ross Garfield the "Drum Doctor" on the scene!!!! That's why Jeff Porcaro's drums sounded so well!!!
Gone, but never forgotten. Music lives forever, RIP Jeff!
that manic was just awesome. so much fun
The music world is a poorer place without jeff porcaro 😢
Agreed
Sorely missed by so many. He was incredible.
Facts . F-***
It will alway be, sadly.❤
Rip Jeff and Mike
RIP THE PORCARO BROTHERS
Jeff and Luke jamming on Manic Depression by Hendrix! awesome
Yeeaaaahhh !! the sound God makes when yes having a good time !
EVERYBODY is having a good time! Man, that's what it's all about.
Nothing like watching great musicians have fun and just jamming out!
J Porcaro, long live the KING!
Jeff Porcaro. Wow. Just wow!
Noticed Mike Porcaro too
This video just confirms that Rock-n-Roll is and will always be a national treasure. Hail, Hail Rock-n-Roll!!!
Miss you Jeff!!!!
信頼関係で結ばれているんだなぁ☀️
Too many of my favorite people in one place.
I absolutely love this little video clip. It shows how much joy they had in simply playing music together. "Good fun", as Jeff would say.
"Just for fun sake" :p

My heart just LOVES this!!!!!
Wow, three powerhouses in the same studio. Michael O'Martian was a top-flight session pianist. He was the pianist on Christopher Cross's "Sailing."
Steve lukaher played solo in All Right by chistopher cross
wow are you both serious? awesome info!
Not O'Martian, just Omartian.
Wow didn't know that cheers!
At 2:12 the heavy 3/4 vibe of Manic Depression rolls listeners over like an 18-wheeler.
This is MUSIC !

Never thought of that.
Thanks!
Nothing like the sound from Paiste espically the Signature Line!!!
These guys are fucking badasses, and they make it look SO easy.
Excellent musicians having fun. What a pleasure for my eyes
man no wonder the records sounded better back then...look at all of that wood..those rooms were ALIVE!!
So it’s the wood that did it? Whod’a thunk it?
Also, most drums are recorded by the drummer themselves in a concrete basement. Dead as hell (not to mention how most artists use samples)!
Yeah, a budget is a hell of a drug!
@@Sigh875 yep reflections help at times. best to record multitrack altogether live until you get the magic drum take
Some of those rooms still are ❤
i heard a bit of the james bond theme tune and the twighlight saga at 1.47-2.07. Jeff and Mike P were taken away from us too soon
grande JEFF PORCARO , murió muy joven pero con un gran legado.
Thank You
I absolutely love you guys Twilight Zone and all!😀 Thank you so much for sharing this clip! Keep rockin!🎉
Ahhh … happier times ! 🤗
Then life just fux you ☹️
Oh … aLso …

Beautiful - two of my favorites: Porcaro & Hendrix! Both gone way too soon... Thanks for posting.
ALWAYS hit record when this happens!!!

@@marksayampanathan6517 Love that album. The great but underrated Ed Greene on drums as well.
he did a solo record around '86. its on here somewhere
Ah, pure magic..my heros
Thanks!
Anyone else love the short fill at 1:32? The simplicity and musicality of it is mouthwatering!!!
the taste and feel of these players is unmatched
Yeahhh!!! Thank you for the video!
Love everything about this! Bears helmet included! Thank you Terry!
Yes. The artist was Raymone Carter and the song title was "Eyes Don't Lie".
Simply amazing! Don't know what else to say!
I preordered Robyn Flans' book "It's About Time". It's a biography about Jeff. Such a timeless groove his was.
Manic depression is a great song
Awesome syncopated beat!!👍

I was frickin born in 2003...why just why wasnt I born in the early 70s?
SO GOOD
Miss this legendary drummer...I'm still playing and learning his grooves, great drummer for sure.
Great video thanks!
Omar! The man, the myth, the legend
Fucking amazing jammings!!!
Jeff had a magical touch, no one sounds like him!
Carlos Vega & Ed Greene are to me the closest, but Jeff P. really had something truly unique in his sound!
Exactly 28 years ago.... wow
WOW!!!
Jeff (RIP)playing Gretsch in the studio despite an endorsement with Pearl - go Jeff :)

The connection between Jeff and Luke is obvious.
they were amazing friends
It's so obvious. I hate that Jeff's widow is constantly in litigation with the band.
I fucking love Jeff!!!
Awesome
Their faces pretty much sums it all up. If you have too work...do something you love doing. Life is too short . RIHeaven Jeff.
Jeff, so hot and talented, why did you leave us...xx
Too much coke.
People forget that Picaro invented the drum rack with Pearl called M 22!!! Loved it
Ludwig Black Beauty snare drum !

Yes they did Steve settled the lawsuit.
They have performed with new drummers new singers etc so don't know where you got that info mate!! 😅
@RickBeato needs to watch this and make a video about time in the studio. He just dropped an interview with Michael Omartian.

Jupiter 8 next to Omartian
over here telling my neighbor tony how much i love luke..hes use to it...haha
Ms T I see a lot of your posts about him ... he was a hottie! 😆

Paiste Signature. 20" Full ride, 18" full crash, 16 fast crash, 18" fast crash. 13" Heavy hihat.
Jeff playing Keith Moon with his left hand.
F’n cool TC! Need more home vids bud!
0:20 Hello!!!!!

Can anyone identify the song playing in the background 1.39-1.46?
engineer has the most 80s or 90s shirt ever. can't decide.
I just came across this vid and see my old friend, Kenny Merrill, tweaking on a snare drum.
I notice at the end it credits Ross Garfield...?
Nope... It is not Kenny Merrill. Ross Garfield was Jeff's drum tech at the that time and it's Ross changing heads on Jeff's drums.
Then he looks, and sounds, exactly the same. Doppelgangers, much?
Though, it makes sense. Kenny has some background as a drum tech, but not like Ross'...
is that a black beauty snare at 0:25 ????
What snare series is that one @ 0:25
