always wanted quality negative screen on a original square bezel, so now it's available, and surprisingly for myself, I would still go for a regular screen version, black digits on grey background.

@@PanduBiasramadhan I'd imagine the footprint of the GBD200 is too large and the aesthetic too sporty for a lot of fans of the 5600/5610/5000 (especially the large backlight button at 6 O'Clock). This one (the H5600) is closer in aesthetic to what these fans are looking for, but the hope will be that by dropping the HR Sensor and the other Fitness-focussed features that are a battery-drain, we might finally get a Tough Solar (ie. no need for charging) + MIP + Multiband 6/Bluetooth and also slim things down a little (the H5600 is quite a lot deeper than any 5600/5610/5000).
My holy-grail watch is a Positive MIP 5610 (the Original Black/Red G Shock Homage) with Tough Solar and Multiband 6. That watch (if made) would outsell all previous G Shocks.

I'd like to know more about the energy situation. One of the reasons why I never bothered with smarth watches is having to deal with something power hungry and a small battery.
I'm 11 months late, but here's what you need to know - the watch has TWO batteries. One battery is used for the smart features and you need to charge it as a regular smart watch in order to use them. The second battery is basically "tough solar" - in enables the basic, regular watch features (e.g. displaying time and date) and therefore you can use this watch as a regular watch without any need of charging it, the solar is enough to keep it running indifferently

I find the squares to be best on wider wrists. While the 6900 series or anything circular works nice for skinnier wrists

I find negative displays so hard to see out in the daylight, that is just turns me off any watch, not a mistake that I can afford to make again. If I can't read the dial in direct sunlight than it makes the watch useless, you shouldn't have to squint to read the time.

Just bought mine yesterday how do I activate my steps and heart rate monitor, it's linked up with the smartphone but havnt updated the software. Is this the reason? My version is DW-H5600

You pretty much have to charge it every day if you want to use the heart rate monitor and other smart features.
My last charge was almost 5 days ago...and I wear the watch day and night. Still has 3 from the 4 stripes battery charge.
So you probably got one with a bad battery.

Mine lasts a week, to the hour, with the HR sensor set to always on from a full charge to when the “low battery” warning pops up. I live somewhere where it barely gets any solar charging.
And even when the battery for the HR sensor dies, the watch itself still tells the time just fine for 11 or more months.

Yes, that’s possible. You loose the charging port and the vibration engine, but the battery lasts at least 11 months without the HR monitor.

I have one g shock.. the dw5600bb w negative display. Wearing automatics most often but wanted something more durable for the shooting range, hiking, fishing, hunting, cycling, etc.
Buy a regular square 50XX series and a Xiaomi band. Better and far cheaper.

Yes. Battery with HR sensor on lasts exactly one week before the “low battery” alert pops up, after that it still works but the smart features are disabled.
The “watch” part of this watch runs for 11 months or longer depending on solar charge.

They ruined it. We want G shock that we don't need to recharge it. If you want to give heart rate monitor and steps tracking, then you can't do better than apple and samsung. Don't try to do everything.
You don’t have to recharge it. It runs just fine as only a watch for 11 months or more on solar.
But some of us do actually want the HR monitor and step counter. This watch lasts me a week with full HR monitoring and little to no solar charging, here as I need to charge my Apple Watch every night.

The problem with G-shock is the app sucks ass. I'm using g-shock GBA-800 and can't even connect to their MOVE app. The problem is the software and not hardware.
