My small group met and we made black and white prints with a pop color and did improv type squares that all ended up about 9 inches. Some worked fast and some slower but all enjoyed seeing results of our work. We did this for about 5 or 6 months at our meetings for several hours then lunch. We put the quilt in state fair.

Usually, the name 'crazy quilt" refers to quilts with stitched embellishments on top. Improv quilts would look absolutely beautiful as a "crazy quilt" but Cindy doesn't usually finish her quilts with embroidered seam designs.

could you talk a bit about how you quilt these types of quilt tops? is it done on machine?
Cindy quilts both by hand and by machine, depending on the quilt. There is a whole section on quilting in her book, Artful Improv.
